As I'm too scared to go into my craft room to start on Christmas 🎄 cards, it needs a really good sort out and due to recent surgery I can't do that for the moment. I crocheted this cowl/infinity scarf for a friend - I hope it's ok to post here 😊 - I used half a Caron cake Attachments:

Wow, I can't keep up with the fun stuff everyone is making. anniefb , cute ideas for cards. LisaDV , those are the cutest tags. I'm paper piecing some because I don't really have any Christmas stamps. Guess I need to invest. scrapaddict702 , your album sounds wonderful! I'm glad you are getting the "newer" typewriter to work. oaksong , that really does look like Santa's workshop. Wish I could sit next to you and watch you work. JoP , that is a beautiful scarf. Thanks for posting it here. Did it take long to crochet? I am determined to get some of my close family's photo Christmas cards simply scrapped so they will be in my albums, not in a box. I did one, then did my DGD's engagement, did another (below) and am working on a wedding page now. Believe by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Some of my Sister's grandchildren.

JoP, it's perfect to post. This is for all things crafty for Christmas. That scarf is gorgeous. nylene, love your page. That's such a cute photo card. I like the pink. I have started a Christmas layout but have not finished it yet. I'm working on 2009.

Finished my digital Christmas layout from Christmas 2009!! Can you tell I put off scrapping Christmas layouts for a LONG, LONG time. dChristmas2009a by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr I was inspired by nylene's pink above to go with this collection with the pink in it.

@pascoepea, I love that scarf! And those make such great gifts! nylene, I love your Christmas pages, and how you are dividing your time between them and other pages. LisaDV, I left some love for your fun page in the Gallery. It's fun to work with older photos. Brings back all the great memories. I scrapped some from a year ago this morning, but they were not Christmas related. I have one Christmas card almost completed, but haven't opened that corner cupboard door yet... Might have to do that to really get into the Christmas spirit when it is so hot!

Tis The Season by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Little by little I'm getting these card scrapped and into an album. LisaDV, it's fun to see your children that young! I am so many years behind that I don't think about it. Great page. I left you a note in the gallery. Save

I can't imagine how I'd actually get any crafting done if I were a working mom! I've been slacking a lot in the self care department lately. To the tune of having gained back almost all of the weight that I spent two+ years dedicated to losing. I did great losing most of it all over again after having my kids (I was about 30lbs higher than my best weight before conceiving each of my kids but it was a weight that was comfortable for me and it was easy to maintain), but not with my daughter. She about killed me in the mental health department and I've been slowly deteriorating ever since. The other day, I faced the reality (again) that my largest sized clothes are becoming more and more uncomfortable for me to wear, which means I technically need to be buying a size up (which matches my highest dress size) and I refuse to do it. So...for the millionth time...I told my husband that I need his help (I do great on my own once I get past the initial shock of all of the adjustments...it's starting that I struggle with). I promptly started working toward 10k steps a day (and haven't failed, yet) since that day and this week my husband then insisted I do something I wasn't even considering. My idea of his help was keeping me motivated in getting my 10k steps...his idea of help was making me calorie track which I wasn't planning on adding to the cards for a while (I wanted baby steps, he pushed for full fledged commitment right away). The consequences of not doing what he tells me to do is that he won't help me at all and I'm less likely to succeed on my own...so what he says goes. As a result...I'm already seeing forward progress on the scale in less than a week. I just hope it continues this way like it did the first time around (which was that in just over 2 years, I lost a total of 115 pounds...and settled into a comfortable weight of 5 pounds more...so 110lbs stayed gone for quite some time).
But, we can't do it all as they say. So that means scrapbooking has sort of lost out this week. I sit down for a few minutes here and there, but if I have large spans of time to fill, that time has been spent working on my daily step goals.
With that all being said, wish me luck at finding a good balance in both (plus you know...being a mom and all that, lol). I still want to get my album done before the month ends so I can get some PLing done, too!!

scrapaddict702, good job with already seeing some progress! DH& I are starting a detox this weekend, but I understand the 10k step frustration. I would only hit that on shopping days (hit at least three stores and park in the back) or on mowing days. So good luck on finding balance! If you succeed you should share the secret with me. 😂

I thought Christmas was next on my to-do list but I finished scanning the Brownie album and decided to go ahead and scan the Daisy album...only to discover it's missing the last two layouts. So I've ordered those photos and will finish up the album tomorrow -I hope. Maybe I'll get to do some Christmas stuff too... 10 days later...and I actually finished up the Daisy album today and scanned it. I also scrapped two more layouts to catch up the Junior album (just in time to take the troop camping this wknd, lol). DD17 is back from Europe - I haven't seen her pictures yet My bestie visited for a week - flew home yesterday morning - we went to Legoland and the springs and just hung out together - it was great! I bought a 4x4 cube storage from Walmart (Better Homes & Gardens in white) and DH assembled it for me. It's in the family room to hold albums in progress and overflow from my album shelves in the bedroom....I'm going to keep the current year and perhaps a year or two back plus the GS albums and DS's Okinawa albums on it - I think those are likely to hold the most interest for others at the moment. Next - December 2016....

I'm part of grammadee's 10/for/10 Christmas card exchange so I'm busy on those. The only other Christmas-y thing I'm doing is looking through photos to pull together which ones I want to use for the Calendar I give to mom every Christmas.

Bummer! I felt like that a bit on Tuesday. One more spread (documenting cookies for Santa and Melvin...our elf...showing where he ends up every Christmas Eve before he leaves until next year) and I'll be at Christmas morning! There was more to record for Christmas Eve than I thought. Plus, after saying how great everything was going with my typewriter and how I was shocked I wasn't making too many mistakes, I was suddenly making a lot of mistakes so it took me a long time to get my journaling typed out when I did manage to sit down to scrap for a bit. You can guess how mojo killing spending 45 minutes typing out 3 sentences was for me. I'm getting there, though! I'm down 3.2 pounds this week...so even if I'm not scrapping, I'm seeing the scale cooperate for the first time in eons. It's been easy so far because we haven't been out of the house much...we'll see how I behave this weekend when I allow myself a cheat meal. Upside is that I have been sending the hubs to do the grocery shopping with the kids and opting to stay home and he'll have an extra stop this weekend so that means quiet time to work on my daily step goal AND to craft before they get back. Christmas, the 28th (we usually go to an Opportunity Village event here before Christmas but ran out of time that year...this is the day we ended up going) and the 31st are the only really photo heavy days left to go. My album is getting thicker and thicker...I might have to use some ribbon and make a closure for it (it still closes just fine when I squeeze it, but it doesn't naturally want to cooperate because even though it doesn't exceed the spine's depth, it does exceed the ring's depth), lol.

Linda , sounds like you have had quite the busy, but fun, July already. It's always good to spend time with friends. But that's a bummer about the electricity interrupting your scrap time. deekaye , you totally deserve a present! You should get that EP line. scrapaddict702 , so was it user error or typewriter error that made the journaling run long. I remember the days of typewriters and having both happen to me. Hope you have it all worked out now. You're doing fantastic on your album and on your weight loss goals. I changed the green background paper of my finished Christmas layout. I blended a gray into it to even further lift from nylene's layout, and I like it so much more. dREDO Christmas2009a1 by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr Other than that. I'm stinking at CIJ. My cards are not very pretty for the 10-4-10. My fancy one which I really wanted to be the card I'd make for Don's business was a silhouette cut and the new cameo decided to give me fits. I got it cut, but the cardstock was not heavy enough for it. It was a 3-d nativity card. So it's getting chucked into the bin. I might redo a tester with heavier cardstock in September or October. My shaker cards weren't the worst, but I used craft foam as the under layer and they look a bit wonky. The rest, well, I went simple. For most, my coloring skills were horrid. I wasn't "feeling" it that day and well, I'm not crazy about card making, which is funny since I started in card making. 07 09 17_ldi_2934 by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr These use markers with the huffing on them to stamp and versamark - all the same design. 07 09 17_ldi_2931 by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr This one is probably my favorite. 07 09 17_ldi_2930 by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr These are the ones that the coloring skills look worse than a 1st grader. 07 09 17_ldi_2929 by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr But these are the cards that are going out unless my other projects get finished or I have a flash of card mojo.

This time was mostly me, lol. I was trying to type too quickly and would hit the wrong key or I would think I could fit a word in the remaining space and couldn't (which is no biggie when I am cutting it up into strips because I can just snip off the part I messed up on, but this particular day I was aiming for a single block) or I wouldn't realize where the paper was (hasn't slid the bar all the way back to the starting point). Just careless errors and the more I made, the more I tried to rush through it to get it over with and the more I'd repeat the same errors. It was just one of those instances where it's easier to walk away and come back fresh than try to force it, but I did anyway. I managed to get it done but didn't want to keep spoiling my mood next time I needed the typewriter, so I just walked away. I only have 6 days plus 2 pages for the 24th left and I counted it to be 37 pages (individual 6x8's that is)...I've done more than double that many already, but it doesn't seem like that much. Thankfully a few of those pages are filled with mostly 2x2 pockets and therefore won't have much added to them...but dang...it seems like a long way to go! That's more than some people's entire DD albums, lol. Your cards are coming along great...much better than any I'd ever come up with! I'm definitely NOT a card maker...though it's hard to justify not trying to at least make birthday cards because of the amount of stash that I have!

Today's the day - Hallmark's Christmas in July movie marathon week starts in half an hour in my time zone. Do I guess it's time to get started! It kind of snuck up on me. I ended up making 33 cards with the Wildflowers papers that I was working with last week, and I have several sheets of paper and big scraps left - probably enough to make 6-10 more cards if I can get back in the mood. I always struggle near the end of a collection, even though using it all up is my *favorite thing ever* It's just harder once all the good papers and embellies are gone. So anyway, bring on the Doodlebug Santas! and the awful movies about plucky American girls stealing the hearts of fake European princes! <3

So anyway, bring on the Doodlebug Santas! and the awful movies about plucky American girls stealing the hearts of fake European princes! <3 I could seriously throw my phone out the window. Somehow, even when I change the default (that started randomly...I never told it to do this) from 'busy' to 'available' so I get a notification from my calendar (that's the only reason I even schedule things...is for the reminder notification, lol) it still ended up saying busy!!!!! BUT, I remembered to pull up the station last night before bed and recorded all the shows that didn't sound familiar. I was stoked to find the one that I had hoped to see from commercials from my November records was among the shows listed!! I think my biggest gripe is that I didn't realize just how many of the same actresses end up leading multiple movies. I've watched here and there every year for years and last year was the first time I noticed it. Thanks to her brother's antics, I tend to not be much of a fan of Candace Cameron Bure anymore and there are so many with her (plus she hosted before a new one aired), plus I don't think she's all that great of an actress anyway. I don't mind the ones with the girl from Party of Five or some of the no name actresses (there was one about wanting to be a December bride with a no name actress who I thought was decent for what Hallmark movies are and then she turned up in another one) but I would like to see variety. I don't think I've seen any of the men making repeat appearances!! I also briefly watched some of the Mowry reality TV series and one of them was in a Hallmark movie a few years ago...I have YET to see that air and I actually want to see it!!! I don't even know what it's called! My last thoughts are: Mariah Carey should not try to act...

scrapaddict702, I'm glad it was you and not the typewriter. It's so much easier to walk away and come back than it is to fix something that is broken. joblackford , I wish I had the hallmark channel. I did borrow 2 discs from the library with 4 movies hallmark movies each. I've watched 2 movies from them, but my ds and dd were about ready to choke me after the 2nd one. They don't get Christmas in July, at all. My last thoughts are: Mariah Carey should not try to act... I've not seen her in anything, but this struck my funny bone.

She played the head of the PTA and was meant to be the 'bad buy' of the movie, but I got the impression that she was told to show up and act like her usual self. She was breathy and sounded sullen, plus it was as if she was whispering whenever she spoke. It was very strange, to say the least. She wasn't even in but 10 minutes of the movie and she's on the cover, even! It's part of the Christmas in July event, so if you want to watch you should be able to find it. I think the part was meant to be like Christina Applegate in Bad Moms but completely missed the mark.

This whole Hallmark Christmas movie phenomenon is new to me. It sounds like I've been missing out! It's going to be over 100 degrees here this weekend, but I think I'm going to crank up the air conditioning, make some cocoa, and spend some time crafting and watching movies!

Sorry to turn this into a Hallmark romance thread but... scrapaddict702 I know exactly the Mariah Carey/Lacey Chabert movie you mean. Hallmark isn't great with subtle villains - they don't want you to question whether the heroine might be stealing someone else's man or cheating on a decent person, no moral ambiguity here, so all the non-heroes are quite blatantly bad - but Mariah's mean girl character was just ridiculous. The writing is terrible, and then MC's "acting" is just laughable. That movie also makes me laugh because of the "fashion design" work Lacey's character does - there's a lot of putting a tape measure around people's waists while they wear the outfit, not much else. Hallmark people are TERRIBLE at pretending to do jobs - even acting at acting/being in movies/being a celebrity, which you would think they would know something about. Repeating the lead characters is a HUGE problem if you watch enough of their movies, mostly it's the female lead, but sometimes the men, and sometimes repeat pairings where you look up and it's a different setting but the same couple. There's a redheaded chick who did a lot of Xmas movies, and Candace Cameron, Lacey Chabert is in a bunch (I call her Party of Five girl too), and Danica McKeller (Winnie from The Wonder Years, who is Hallmark's #1 worst onscreen kisser - she freezes like a mannequin when she kisses!) My husband and I like to play "where do we know that person from?" Sometimes they get people I really like. 90210's Luke Perry was in a Western (nonXmas) one! There is ZERO chemistry between the actors in most of the movies. They're utter nonsense, but I'm a romance trope geek (fake dating is the best), and they hardly distract me from crafting, but the ad breaks remind me to get up and stretch now and then (they play the WORST ads). LisaDV oaksong We have limited basic cable - really just our local channels and a few shopping channels, but Hallmark was hidden away in there somewhere near the shopping channels. They do also stream movies online, I think, at their own website. I'm afraid I may have literally seen ALL of them while I was crafting last Christmas. They bring out 20-ish new ones each year, starting after Thanksgiving, but they recycle them for several years. All the ones they showed while I was crafting yesterday were ones I've seen several times. I started watching them with my SIL as a joke one Xmas a couple of years ago and got hooked. Good news - I have 9 rather adorable cards almost completely finished, and tons of materials left to play with again today. My backside hurt from sitting for 6 hours, but I remembered to get up and move around during the ad breaks. The Doodlebug odds & ends die cut packs are really good value - I was amazed at how many really great usable pieces I got. I will try to share a photo or two.
