I decided to try a cowl using the hydrangea blanket stitch - it tested my maths skills but I'm quite pleased with the result. It took the remaining yarn of two Caron cakes. My third Christmas gift done ✅ Attachments:

JoP , that looks like such a nice cowl. You should be proud of yourself getting so much done. I have finished some more Christmas Card pages. Here's one. 'Tis the Season by Nylene Budge, on Flickr I have been watching the Hallmark movies, but so far I haven't seen a new one. I like them because I can scrap to them and hardly have to look up.

I have been watching the Hallmark movies, but so far I haven't seen a new one. I like them because I can scrap to them and hardly have to look up. Yeah, that! There is a new release out tonight - The Christmas Cure. I actually saw one today that I don't think I've ever seen before, but I've already forgotten what it was! They turn my brain to mush I think I got 11 cards done this afternoon so I'm up to ~20. I still have 3 full sheets of the paper pad left, some cut apart elements, and a ton of small die cuts - none of the cool ones though. I haven't even opened the second pack of die cuts, so I think it's safe to say that I'm going to need another paper pad. I'm pretty sure I can get about 25 cards out of one pad. Kristie Marcotte managed to make 43!! cards out of the same paper pad, but she used a lot of plain cardstock in addition. My cards are really different from hers, but she was the person who inspired me to use up 6x6 paper pads. Hope everyone is having a fun Christmas crafty weekend

I worked on a few more pages, but I think I'm calling it a night tonight. I'm going to curl up and watch one of the movies I recorded from the marathon...maybe two depending on how tired I am and if I feel like waiting up for the husband to get home from work (his second job is at a pizza place that is open pretty late and he closes every shift he works). I'm down to 24 1/2 pages to go, I think...not bad considering I was at 37 the other day and was starting to struggle a bit with ideas. It's reaching the point of not being fun anymore and it just being something I am sticking to because I want to see it completed (I'm already starting to forget the stories I want to tell with some of the photos, so that's making journaling incredibly difficult).
On the upside (since I mentioned it here already), I'm down 4lbs since Sunday and tomorrow is my cheat meal (I used to do cheat days and would eat ridiculous amounts of food...trying to behave a bit more this time around so I don't have to excessively restrict my calories during the week to make up for it like I had done in the past). I think the universe might be smiling on people who want to lose weight since the first week or two usually results in higher than typical weight loss...talk about an incentive to keep working hard! In about a week, the second location of my city's first Rolled Ice Cream joint will open. The first is clear across town and while they do plan to open one even closer to us in November, it'll be MUCH closer...so next week I'm having a cheat dessert!! Maybe it'll make me forget for about three seconds that it's in the 1-teens here and the seat belts get so hot they can burn you! If not, there is always the option of watching more Christmas movies!

Great cards LisaDV - I have that same nativity shadow box one to try. Lovely to see everyone's progress. I've had a terrible week at work - 12-14 hour days and 8 hours yesterday (Sat) as well trying to get everything done. Unfortunately everything due at the same time and 11 statements of expert evidence to review for a court hearing in September. Then today I had to prune the roses and try and spray the weeds because next weekend it's forecast to rain again. The end result has been no crafting although I'm going to try and make a card for my niece now, followed by one Christmas card to try out an Avery Elle sentiment stamp I really like. Guess if I just plug away at the cards they will get done - I only have to make about 30.

You know what I hate about Hallmark's movies? All this build up to a conclusion and you don't get to see anything unfold. It's kiss, roll credits...every single time! I like them to fast forward a short while (hours, days, years later) that show the "happy ending" not this "I made a decision, the end" nonsense!

The actors were pretty good...the sad/happy tears were pretty believable. I recognize dad Turner but can't place him. Much better than some movies!

Honestly I hate so many things about their movies, which is why I have to craft while I watch them. Otherwise I start to get pretty annoyed. I think of it as the Straight White People Falling in Love (but never ever falling into bed until they're married) Channel.

JoP, amazing scarf. I love that stitch. nylene, I love your layout. You are a master of coordinating your papers and designs with those photo cards. joblackford, you are rocking the card making! Since you mentioned using the paper pads, you inspired me to actually use my MME box sale items to make a few cards. I have 2 awaiting and inside sentiment and 2 more awaiting a stamped image or maybe a printed element. anniefb, hope work will let up for you a bit so you have some time to play.

I can watch them with dd. And the characters aren't teen-y boppers.

@scrapaddict, it sounds like you are doing well with your Christmas pages. Congrats on the weight loss. I hope it continues for you. joblackford , the cards with 6x6 pads sound like a great idea. I only have a couple of Christmas 6x6 pads, but I may try that. I haven't even thought about Christmas cards yet. LisaDV , I like the Hallmark movies because they are G rated too. My husband thinks they are sappy, but they are great to scrap to. Here's a couple more Christmas Cards album pages. Now I can work on newer photos. My kids make fun of me as I cry at movies, even hallmark movies, so easily. nylene, great pages. I'll leave love, but probably won't be until tomorrow. I bought some fat quarters today. I'm going to sew little fabric bookmarks with them.

I'm going to sew little fabric bookmarks with them. I used to do this to my sister. She also couldn't stay in the room if there was a scary movie playing, so I used to joke that if you wanted a good home cooked meal, all you had to do was turn on a scary movie and she'd hightail it to the kitchen to tune it out. But then I started having kids. After the (what I presume was an) infertility scene in Up, I spent the rest of the movie crying...we saw it in theatres no less...at least it was dark. I cry reading positive news (like someone helping a homeless person get off the streets, donations for someone to be able to attend college, a boss buying a vehicle or bike for an employee who commutes a long distance in order to get to work...that sort of thing) and just about anything that 'feels good'...not just sad things. Anytime I feel particularly gracious, my whole face puckers up like I'd just eaten a lemon because I'm trying so hard not to cry...I hate crying in front of people. I was never like this before kids...so if you have daughters and they eventually have kids, they'll get their dues in time.

Good job on the holiday progress, everybody.
It ended up being a busy weekend, and I only got to work in bits and pieces. I'm loving the discussion on the Hallmark movies. I can see both sides, and will probably find myself hate-watching them.
I got stuck on the cover for my little mini-album. Binding a book is trickier than it seems. The first way I did it kept the pages from opening properly, but I cut it apart and think I have it figured out now. On to more cards and some decorative items later in the week.

But I was always a bit sappy even before having my kids. Of course, mom was a nickname my friends used on me in college too. But I hate to cry in front of people. I cry at sad or happy spots of movies, tv shows, reading books. Anything that pulls the heart strings will get me going.

oaksong , hope you have some more time this week to create. How did you bind the mini-album? Did you use a Cinch or Bind-it-all or bookrings? Or are you creating your own binding? I created one digital page for my 2009 Christmas pages. d2009C_Reindeer-Feeding by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr

nylene 6x6 pads are the best for making cards! You should definitely play around. The prints are a good scale for card making. And if you want to you can actually use a whole pad up making a couple of dozen cards, which is the best feeling. I started out using the 6x6 paper pad tutorial by Kristie Marcotte, which uses cards sketches, but now I just wing it most of the time.

There are even recipes out there for card making using 1 or 2 pieces of 12x12 patterned paper to make cards and have no scraps leftover. I can't remember what they are called, though! I always wanted to give that a go.

LisaDV , I created my own binding from one of those over-the-top Graphic 45 youtubers. But i thought I could just glue the spine to a flat piece of board. Silly me, the pages don't turn when you do that. I decided to follow the instructions (what a concept) and it worked out a lot better. I love the links for quick card ideas from 12 x 12 papers and 6 x 6 pads. What to work on next? I can't decide.

Morning everyone, belated Happy Christmas! I intended to take part but my husband was whisked to hospital (right in the middle of the first week of Wimbledon! Honestly, the man will do anything to interrupt my tennis enjoyment ) We had five very stressful days, and he took last week off work to recuperate. He required emergency surgery for a jaw abscess and was incredibly brave through an anaesthetic procedure I wouldn't wish on anyone! He has made a remarkable recovery and is happily back at work. In preparation for Christmas In July here, and my Mum's Christmas card order, I worked on my two designs so far for 2017 - before the hospital incident. My plan being to do a couple more designs in the mornings before watching tennis. Ha! Best laid plans and all that This is my first day to even think about being creative. These are trial runs - just to check my ideas work.

Merry July, Ladies. If you are still looking for card ideas, Taylored Expressions is celebrating Christmas in July this week over at their blog. I have 6 cards assembled so far, pieces waiting to go together for the other 4. Have been playing with them in the bits of time I have had between summer adventures and their prep and recovery. So glad your dh is recovered, JaneB. Your cards are gorgeous. I love them both. I left love for your cards amd pages on Flickr, LisaDV .

I had more Xmas in July papers in my cart at scrapbook.com for the last few days and finally yesterday I thought I'd better get to it and place the order so I can continue before my Xmas mojo runs out. I have a pack of die cuts left over from my first order, but I completely ran out of paper. Well, wouldn't you know it, the next email I get after "your items have shipped" was "you've made the nice list - 20% off all Xmas in July supplies" I guess procrastination would have paid off... btw I've forgotten how to add photos here if they're not hosted somewhere online. Can I just paste in a small image? I want to show you how little was left over from my paper pad and die cut pack after making 25 cards.
