Thanks for the update. I am in the same boat is you. After my hysterectomy I have no sex drive.

I haven't read the entire thread yet - just want to say this.
It can go both ways. My husband started losing interest in sex 15 years ago and the time between got longer and longer until at this point we haven't done it in years and probably never will again. This started when I was around 45 and now I'm 58 and he is 59. I can't tell you how difficult this has been for me. I have a healthy sex drive and enjoy how close it makes me feel to him physically and emotionally. I've asked him nicely and in anger what the problem is and he just looks away. Back in the early days he was still capable of doing it - he just chose not to. Now he can't do it anymore. (Use it or lose it.)
This whole thing has messed with my head in a bad way. I have a problem with self-confidence - this whole thing only made it so much worse. This has contributed to the demise of our marriage. I'd be divorced now if I could afford it.
I hope that you get your situation figured out so that your relationship will flourish. Your husband sounds like a good man.

Third update is awesome! Good for you. Speaking as someone who has thyroid issues that could be a serious part of it.

Update #2 : Post Doctor Appt. Just left my doctor. I forgot how much I love her. She's convinced it is my thyroid, due to other symptoms as well. We are starting with that, so I'll know more once bloodwork is back. She said she didn't want to start looking elsewhere, like hormones, until she rules out my thyroid. She's also scheduling me for a uterine ultrasound. I've been experiencing extremely heavy periods for the past year or so. My prior periods would be 5 days, with day 2 and 3 mediumish. Now, my period is 7 days exactly, with days 1-2 extremely heavy (sometimes bleeding through a tampon in an hour). These first two days absolutely exhaust me and if on a weekend, I sleep 18-20 hours a day. After the ultrasound, she wants to talk more about NovaSure (a endometrial procedure to thin the lining of the uterus). Since my husband and I are not interested in children, she says I'm a candidate for this procedure and thinks it will improve my life. She gave me a pamphlet and wants to discuss further after we figure other things out. Did she also check a CBC to look at your hemoglobin? Heavy periods can easily result in anemia which can make you more fatigued and certainly contribute to a lack of libido!

She did say she was running full blood work and I remember her saying to check stuff like cholesterol and hemoglobin. I was just thinking about the thyroid, I forgot she said that.

I've been following your story ... I'm older than you by about 10 years but I also struggle ... Have you considered a hysterectomy? Not having to deal with a period (especially a heavy one) is awesome

Glad you saw the doctor. Your period issues could be thyroid related, too. Did she check you for thyroid antibodies for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? Just checking TSH isn't always enough. Two of my daughters have Hashimoto's and the older one has had great success with a gluten free diet.
I had ablation done about four years ago. It's been amazing. I do still have a period, but I use tampons for 1-2 days and a regular tampon lasts 8 hours--no kidding! Before I was soaking an Ultra tampon and nighttime pad an hour. My iron was also very low making me exhausted.

Your willingness to go get checked out by the doctor and your DH's willingness to work through this with you are so inspiring.
