I enjoy this tradition so much every year.
The card exchange really helped me stay positive the first few years after my mom suddenly passed on Christmas day 2008. I'd look forward to those cards so much. <3
I love to send as much as receive, and I always try to keep in mind that one simple card could mean so much to someone out there in need of a pick me up.
How do you guys display your cards? I'm looking for a fun, new way to display!
Happy Holidays, Card Swappers!

I love every single card that I have received. So much fun opening the mail; my boyfriend and I are opening them up together. He is so impressed with the creativity. He will carefully examine each card and then on the handmade ones he will exclaim "someone made this?". Fun to share this with him. As for displaying- I have a set of three sliding doors in a room off my kitchen that can be seen from every room on the main floor. I have some jute twine tied from one end to the next and the cards are being hung off the twine with a clothespin. I cannot believe how many I have already, really looking festive! Someone mentioned they were concerned everyone would get cards early and nothing closer to Christmas.....we could pick weeks to mail next year, to spread them out. If that was something we wanted to consider. Can't wait for the mail on Monday. : )

Some of y'all are overachievers. I'm loving getting all the happy mail this week, so fun! Even though I started early and have a good chunk of my cards already made, I've still got quite a few to make and all to address and whatnot. I do have the stamps though... It's been a crazy busy week at work and life in general, so I'm hoping for a quieter one this coming week.
So I'm choosing to look at my running behind as a bonus for the peas, everyone is so eager to get their cards out that y'all rush to get them sent right away and we typically get a ton this first week or so. Don't get me wrong - that's awesome, but it tends to taper off the closer we get to Christmas. So I'm (inadvertently) helping to spread out the love a little bit later in the season. Does that sound like a total procrastinator or what?
We're in the same boat. I've mailed 30 so far and I have 30 more ready to go. I realized some of the ones I made during Christmas in July would be pricy to mail because they are so lumpy. I will have to give them to friends and family to whom I hand deliver cards.

Good morning all, First, thank you to all that have (or will) sent me cards. It has been so fun getting mail the past few days. Second, all of mine were mailed yesterday . The mail lady said the international ones may take up to 17 days to arrive. Thank you, Brenda

I have been putting the ones we recieve in a photo box with the lid placed underneath. It's sitting on the coffee table next to the LEGO advent calendar we are using the year. The kids are taking turns with me opening and reading them. Well, the 4-year-old has me or her sister reading the cards she opens. *grins*
I had to go out and buy address labels today. I didn't have enough 5160s. Apparently I have mostly 5162s!

someone asked a page or two ago about an idea for making a mini album to keep their cards, I think. I pinned one a while ago that might work, and I finally remembered to look for it... not sure if you could get them all in one, but here's the blog post (it's in German, but the photos are pretty self-explanatory.) 10 minute mini for cards.

I had 9 new cards in my post office box today after the weekend! So exciting I only just got my first Christmas card from a family member today. (Not that I've taken care of my own personal Xmas cards yet - argh!) tia2eleven I wouldn't worry too much about the speed of the international ones. My experience in sending mail to NZ and the UK is that things usually arrive pretty quickly. I usually allow a week to NZ, even for packages. The UK seems a little slower. But I think most of the international Peas on the list were actually in Canada. I wouldn't expect them to take much longer than domestic mail.

I got my first cards in the mail yesterday (five!) but haven't opened them yet- I'm resisting due to guilt, lol. Those first cards got me to get off my duff and get some of mine in the mail; the first batch is going out today! It turns out I have more work to do than I thought, too-- I only have 61 cards all the way finished, so I know what I'm doing the next couple evenings! Now I need to figure out how / where we're going to display all of them!! Which is a good problem to have, since I haven't done ANY holiday decorating yet at all. OMG, I was coming in to say the same thing!!! I opened the first two cards I got and now I have a stack I won't allow myself to open because I'm behind and haven't sent mine yet!!! We are always thinking so much alike Dh is looking for our labels today, we can't remember where they are from last year. If he can't find them he is going to buy more and print them for me today! I have 80 or so cards done so I will send out to the furthest addresses first and then keep working on cards and send to the closest I did finish 20 cards on Saturday, but was gone all day Sunday with family. I have another 20 halfway finished so that helps Thank you to everyone who is so much more on the ball then I am and who has sent me and my family a card already!!

We got 5 today! I can't wait for the kids to see them tomorrow. These are the first batch to have come with noticeable damage to envelopes. The cards themselves were all fine but one of the envelopes was outright torn open!

The cards themselves were all fine but one of the envelopes was outright torn open! Did the cards have embellishments? The one that was open had the back flap torn off. It might have been closed with washi tape but it seems like an awful lot of damage for the washi tape getting caught! The card itself had a largish ornament popped up on it and a little jewel. As I look at it closer there is damage to the envelope back with the jewel must have been. The rest of the cards had damage only to the outer edges of the envelopes and not all of them had any embellishments.

I FINALLY mailed all my cards today!!!! It took ages for my postage to get to me. I am so loving all the cards. I'm cutting off the return address label and gluing to the back on the card. That way I know pea name and real name as some cards only have one or the other inside.

Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get the mail.

I got most of mine out and working on the last batch.. should be done in a day or so.. I didn't sort where they are going but ended up most of my international are going out last. Not sure how I managed it.
Anyways, I display mine on a Flexible Flyer old fashion sled. It was my sled when I was little and my dad restored it and gave it to my son. He restored it so nicely we don't use it in the snow.. (it used to hang on my son's wall) But he moved out and it went into storage, so a couple of years ago, I had the idea to pull it out for Christmas and put a bow on it and then the card idea. I take the wooden cloths pins and either attach directly to the sled or to some brown twine type string and attache to that.
