I graduated high school in 1984, but think the 1970's was the decade with the best music. I mostly listen to music from that decade-not disco, though.

In order of preference: 80's, 50's, 70's, 60's, anything after the 80's . . .

It's not a decade for me as much as a genre. I'm a Motown girl with a preference for the smoother tunes and not the doo-wap stuff.

Do have to pick one? I listen to such a random range of music that I don't know if I could pick.
This brings up conversations I used to have with my children. They would tell me I need to listen to this new song that was so awesome and it would be a remake of an old song that was even more awesome. They wouldn't believe me until I proved it to them, cause you know, anything that was old like I was couldn't be that awesome. lol

I once impressed my kids mightily when they learned that I saw Jimi Hendrix perform in person at a small Berkeley venue shortly before his death. I also saw a lot of the big names of the late '60s, early '70s at the Fillmore and Winterland in San Francisco. But my favorite music is from before my time ... early '60s folk music, Motown, doo-wop ... and then the British Invasion. There was a My Music show from the mid-'60s on our PBS last night. I hadn't meant to turn it on (I already have it recorded anyway, LOL) but it was there when we turned the TV on. The 5yo was fascinated and watched for about half an hour till I made him go to bed. He wanted to know if it was "old school" (he has older cousins that teach him this stuff) and he was trying to sing along. He wants to watch the whole recorded version another time. Hopefully I have now created another generation of '60s music junkies.

Don't know if it was the "best," but the 80's had the most memorable music. They still play it like crazy at weddings and other large social gatherings.

The '60s had the greatest music. Late '50s had some good songs, too. Still listen to (and sing along with) those songs today.
My husband and I stopped to eat at a Great American Roadhouse Restaurant a year or so ago. When we walked in, we kind of felt like we had stepped back in time. It looked like the old restaurants did back in the '60s - old signs on the walls, jukeboxes at every table, an old malt machine on the counter. They were playing music from that era also. When our ?16 - ?17 year old server had a minute, I asked her what she thought of the music that played all the time. She admitted that she hated it at first, but she loved it then. She said, 'Every song tells a story!' and she told us she had all of the songs downloaded on her iPod! Too funny!

The 90's. I love grunge, give me Nirvana and Pearl Jam any time. Followed closely by the eighties. Love me some Bon Jovi hair band music.

Graduated in '84 and then went on to college. So many dances, parties and hanging out. That era is the sound-track of my life!
