It is midnight and I'm clear embossing chipboard pieces from my Ali Edwards Christmas chipboard set. Guys, why didn't I think of this before? Lovely festive shiny finish AND protection from any possibly not super clean fingers touching interactive elements I want to use them on/with. Dem late night eureka moments... anniefb I tried doing that with my Fuse twice not long ago and both times lost my way around the cut-out and messed up my page protector. Aaargh, I need to learn to go slower. *zen*

Ok friends! Hows your December Daily books going?? Are you keeping up?
Me? Ha.I have not worked on my book at all other than to take photos and edit them. I am in a serious December funk and it needs to get going. I am actually thinking I will only work on my book once a week - on Fridays - and do a week's worth of pages at a time. Who knows that. I got to get this mental fog to lift so I can get busy.

I don't want to do that until the card is full, which might be another day or two. The cover design is cut, and all base pages for 20 days are cut out too. For someone who wasn't doing DD and who is not in the best frame of mind, I'm doing better at this than I ever have! And last week almost had me traipsing to hospital, I was in so much pain I was screaming for about 8 hours solid. Thank God for amitriptyline and co-codamol, that's all I have to say about that. mom I saw your post about your worries, and wanted to reply but I'm a coward - and I don't have kids so what do I know? However, it made me think of my Mum and Dad, who were given me to cope with and everyone was full of ideas about how they should deal with me. And when I went to boarding school even family thought my parents' had "put me away" and didn't believe I'd come home. Which really amounts to: believe in your son because he sounds great. I achieved what I have because my parents always had my back. What others think is of no consequence, pooh to them, that's what I say!

I am feeling better today about DS's choices (but I also haven't seen my friends since Sunday....so there's that!). DH and I talked last night and we agree that we don't know that what he is doing is where he will eventually land, but for now, he is happy & healthy. And since he is young and doesn't have a family yet, he can afford to explore and figure out what he wants to do in life. DH and I are just gonna be sitting here, cheering him on. SaveSaveSaveSave

I have pictures ready to print, some pages decorated, and an overall. I'll probably do the first week's worth this weekend. Trying not to stress about, and just make it fun.

I am not doing the project as a collection of daily stories so I get to have some fun with thinking through what each spread is going to be about it. I'm currently rewriting and changing the narrative focus of two spreads. It doesn't feel like delaying and putting the actual album off at all. It's just part of my way of documenting. The project has turned into a bundle of short stories so far. I really like how things have changed and progressed since I first starting thinking about it in late August. I've already edited most pictures that I want to include so far and will be placing an order for great quality larger prints later in the month. I've also already drawn lines on the front of my Advent calendar #nevertooold so I know which doors not to open manually to avoid weaking the structure (I'll be using it as an interactive element in my album to document the morning of the 24th of December which is a pretty big deal in our home).

So far I'm on track... I completed days 1-4 and I already know what my story will be today and it's mostly journaling focused (I have a kraft bag with a tag in it as my foundation page for today). Having the foundation pages really helps.
The only thing that is dragging me down a little is that so far I've only done one 4x6 photo per day so I'm worried my format is a little tired. I ended up with other inserts inbetween the page protectors, but so far I'm not sure I'm liking the format... I like each page individually though. I'm hoping it will fall into place more as the month goes on. I am planning on sharing photos of my pages (probably on the SC gallery) so I'll link here when I do!

I just finished up November 29th (started Nov 25) and have photos printed out through December 3rd to work on. I'm hoping to find some more time tomorrow to work on it.

I've done pages 1-5 although I'm waiting to print out one photo until I get something for the other half. And Day 6 is already done - no photo or journaling as I pre-made a vellum card. I've added a lot more inserts than in past years - extra ephemera etc and am pleased with how it's looking so far.

Well I guess it's a good thing I put together most of my kit from my stash because my FJ parcel appears to be lost in transit. Tracking hasn't been updated since Nov 15th and it doesn't appear to have left the US. The order I placed on black Friday, which shipped 18 days later, arrived in Australia today and should be delivered in the next day or two. There's nothing they can do until it's been 45 days.

That sucks about your FJ parcel! Hope it shows up soon!
I've gotten 4 pages done then got the low ink warning on my Epson! Poor planning on my part but I ordered more ink and will be back in business shortly. I've been doing good with photos...decided this year to focus on one story as opposed to capturing the whole day like WITL. Much less stress!

My DD is really a festive PL/DD hybrid in my normal PL album. I’m putting the stories in with our everyday. So I’m getting a full 12x12 PL page per day. And I’m fine with that. I have all my pictures and screenshots (my husband and I text a LOT) printed for days 1-4. I still need to get the journaling typed up for those days and work on the 5th, which will be simple because I was home from work sick half the day and spent the afternoon sleeping and watching Vampire Diaries, so day 5 will just be a picture of me curled up with one of our dogs, and a Vampire Diaries promo picture, with some journaling about that. Oh and it was our anniversary so I’ll be telling the story of ordering Chinese takeout on our anniversary, instead of our planned night out, because I was ill. I’m pleased with my progress on the album.

I haven't started making my book (and probably won't until after Christmas), but I have a story for each day so far. I might actually do mine as a December daily this year instead of just a Christmas book. Very exciting.

Quick, burn some sage or something. It sounds like my DD curse travelled all the way to you. Three weeks without any updates is definitely bad news. I'm so sorry you'll have to wait the full 45 days to ask for them to intervene. *hugs* I've finished my first two stories: le sapin (the tree) and la neige (the snow). Both are full spreads to which I'll still need to add a 6x8 print when I order them. I've kept it very simple but taken my sweet time to get the placement of the few embellishments I did use just right. I'm also making sure I use my favourite product right away if it fits instead of hoarding it for the "important" December stories. My next stories will likely be about actions (verbs) rather than nouns. I'm going to focus on hiberner (to hibernate) and prendre soin (to take care) for the upcoming days.

I finally got my Christmas journal out to work on last night - I managed to get a bad cold right as the month turned over and didn't have the energy to do anything. I'm following along with Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas which isn't intended to be a daily story project. After several days of just noting down the prompts and feeling overwhelmed by all the Christmas stuff I have left to do (cards! gifts!) I am finally feeling better. I got out my old journals and assessed what worked and what didn't (OMG my old Handbooks are SAD - the page protectors are smudgy and warped around the spines from the weight of the pages, all the 4x6 pockets are gapping and loose, and to top it off my photos are badly exposed, so dark and gloomy - it's pretty depressing! But my DIY traveler's notebook albums are much better). I read some reminders from last year's journal that I have plenty of time and everything is fine, and wrote those out to myself on a FYC/Brandi Kincaid page I had left over from last year to go in the front of the journal.
It's a start! I haven't actually tackled the daily journal pages or even how I'm going to approach them, but I'm reassured that it will work out OK. At this point I'm mostly happy that I can breathe again, and that I got the Christmas decorations up. Everything else will get done, right?

That was lol cute! I'm forwarding the video link to DD so she can prep for her NZ trip! I've been a little under the weather for a few days, so my evenings haven't been very productive. I hope to get back on track this weekend.

Here's what the start of my album looks like. Never mind my mother's booty making an appearance on the bottom right... Enjoy the crappy photos! So far: 1. I am giddy I can print out my journaling for my DD album! Game. Changer. 2. It's a miracle I've managed to hold on to the tag thingy that came attached to the tree. I'm terrible at keeping memorabilia and bits'n'bobs. I'm going to try and include a few more through the album but I'll never be the kind of documenter who saves menus, schedules, tickets, etc. Le sigh. 3. The tiny polka dot interior of my Echo Park album was driving me cuckoo. I switched to a red faux leather Simple Stories instead. 4. Somebody stop me from clear embossing all my chipboard pieces! 5. Yep, still a minimalist at heart. 6. It's going to be a looong wait until the end of the month to order those 6x8 prints. I'm already annoyed three large photos are missing from the album so far. 7. Hasta Nordmanniana! #no #mySpanishSOisnotimpressedwithmybadSpanishpuns

sleepingbooty that looks great. I was hoping you'd share your album. After the grand saga of the supply acquisition I was finding myself feeling quite invested in your progress I love your minimal style.

So apparently I didn't anticipate the need I have for bells in documenting our December. I've got plenty of stars, snowflakes, ornaments, and even buttons! LOL My youngest's favorite song is Jingle Bells. Here I am going through an Iris box full of Christmas themed papers and embellishments and the only bells I have are on a single 6x6 paper that I can't make work with what I've already started. *grins* I'll have to see what I can come up with using my Silhouette or allow myself a trip to the craft store.
