i am far less bothered by vulgarity than I am by holier-than-thou prissiness. I'm far from prissy. That's name calling and sexist. I'm a prude because I don't like the reading the f-word on a scrapbooking board?

Does your mother consider Trump a liberal? Vulgar- check, poor vocabulary-check. I do hope she is retired from teaching, bless her heart. What? My mother is a yellow dog Democrat. No, bless YOUR heart (with that poor reading comprehension and all).

Are liberals more vulgar? My mother, a (non-unionized) teacher used to say it was the sign of a poor vocabulary. Or is it just being lazy? But Trump is a republican not a liberal. You can't get more vulgar than " grab them by the ***** or Get that son of a ***** off the field'

I don't curse often, but I'm running the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday and I'm fairly certain that after mile 20, I'll start using the f-word like a comma. So be it.

True political discussion shouldn't include vulgar diatribes. It's a shame we've come to expect it. True. I shouldn't have to worry about what my grandchildren will hear when the president is speaking. SaveSave

If you use vulgarity to describe him, then you are no more evolved and make that language acceptable. It happens on both sides. Don't go down this road: Kennedy was horrible.

I'm sorry you're antagonistic and rude. You just don't like being called out as racist. I may not be funny either, but I'm not rude or vulgar. You're the one who brought up race. I described the common complaints conservatives have about those they deem lazy - who are inevitably poor because conservatives are sure anyone who isn't lazy can pull themselves up by the bootstraps. If you assign race to those traits, that's on you, not me.

I just don't appreciate vulgarity and notice it is more common among liberal peas. Quite a leap. Linguistically, lazy is saying "yeah" instead of "yes."

Vulgar does not equal a lack of good vocabulary or laziness. It shows the character of the speaker, not their education or work ethic.

Go right ahead and keep fleshing out what you meant but did not say in your OP so you sound less judgmental. It doesn't work. It's not our first rodeo.

But Trump is a republican not a liberal. You can't get more vulgar than " grab them by the ***** or Get that son of a ***** off the field' What he said is wrong, but Trump is not a pea. If you use vulgarity to describe him, then you are no more evolved and make that language acceptable. I disagree, sorry. The President of the United State should, as any other head of state should, lead by example. If he is unable to do so without using vulgarity then you can't call others out for doing the same based purely on their political leanings. Whether he is a pea or not is irrelevant. By all means,if you wish, call someone out for their use of " vulgar" language but to specify liberals in general is insulting to the many that don't. There has been plenty of posts on here in the past when President Obama was in office and again some very recent, where the language used by republicans/conservatives has been equally as vulgar.

I used to be able to cuss a blue streak like the best of them, and then I had a kid. Since I didn’t want her to get called into the principal’s office for using inappropriate language at school, I’ve since dialed it way, way, WAY back. I generally don’t use vulgar language on here or elsewhere online. The funny thing is, my DH used to get on me for swearing needlessly back before we had our kid. Now he’s the one that she typically calls out for using the naughty words, LOL. HOWEVER!! If you have dropped something super heavy on your foot or smashed your thumb with a hammer though, all bets are off! Then I would say you are well within your rights to say whatever you will.ETA: My friend told me once that her DH’s great aunt or someone didn’t like cursing and so she would say, “Cheese and Rice!” or “Lord, Love a Duck!” So now those are my go-to’s, along with “Son of a Sock Puppet!” which I picked up from another friend. They've done a study, people who curse can endure more pain than those who substitute curse words. I heard about it on The Poundstone Institute Podcast. It was funny and fascinating at the same time. I wish everyone...no matter their economic status...could speak (& post) with grace and courtesy. Your op in this thread had neither. My op was provocative. That means it was meant to inspire a response. Just because you didn't like it didn't mean it was not graceful or courteous. (The f-word puts me off more.)
