We just bought a new refrigerator this past week, the ice maker is SO LOUD when it drops the cubes into the tray. Like I can hear it in the next room loud. I mentioned to dh how annoying this was, he swears he can't hear it. HELLO? It's insanely loud. Dh usually has the tv on when he's home, he was gone all day, so the tv has been turned off. Which made the ice drops seem even louder. So today, the dogs have noticed it too. They've spent the majority of the day in the kitchen giving the stink eye to the refrigerator. And growling at it each time they hear the ice drop. My sister-in-law came over for dinner and brought her pup to play with mine. Her pup watches mine, hears them growling so she starts barking at the frig. Which then made mine start barking at it. I actually had to put a bag of frozen veggies in the tray to muffle the sound. It worked, pups found some other entertainment. Dh comes home and I'm telling him the story. His takeaway? Well, it'll make less ice if there's a bag of vegetables in the tray... A first world problem for sure.

LOL! Sorry about your ice noise! I’m annoyed that I can’t read for pleasure until this semester of nursing school is done. I have 13 more weeks, then done. Lol! I’m ready to read other stuff! Ha!

So this has nothing to do with me, but...
In the local buy/sell/trade fb page a young lady put up that she was looking for a sitter from 3-8 for her kid in her home on a per diem basis. She mentioned that her dh doesn't always know when he is going to work and might not know until the day before or the morning of, so the person needs to be flexible. Some weeks you might work 20 hours, others 0. All for the great pay of UP TO $30 per hour.
Now who in their right mind would make sure they had every night free on the off chance they might make up to $5 per hour to watch someone's kid?

quinmm14 I have to admit, picturing your dogs growling at the refrigerator is pretty entertaining. The noise would make me crazy, too.

@quinmm14 at least your ice maker works. Mine broke 2 years ago right after the warranty expired. It would cost $500 to fix it. This is the second time it has broken so we are just buying bagged ice as we need it.

My vent - I'm a middle school teacher and we start the second semester tomorrow. They have crammed 35 kids in 2 of my classes. I'm just ticked that our scheduling is so tight that they have no choice. I want to go in tomorrow and ask my boss if he wants his kid in a room of 35? I retire at the end of the semester so maybe I'm just eager to get the heck out.
ETA: I'm now at 35 kids in 3 classes! Grrr.

A certain someone in my life constantly makes bodily noises. Constantly.
Yes, they are ill, but I'm so tired of the burping and gas and deep throat clearing. And they don't make any effort to not do it. Or even say excuse me.
I don't even think they notice. #@<=&$^@

I was browsing our work classifieds last week and a woman was looking for a 3 bedroom apartment for $7-800 per month near our work (the most expensive part of town). A 3 bedroom in that area would cost about $3500 a month. Maybe more. I hope she finds someplace, but we all got a good laugh at those somewhat interesting expectations. I would also love to spend $700 a month on a three bedroom (Reality check- my kids are sharing a bedroom until they are 24!).

A first world problem for sure. Same thing for me. I replaced my broken side by side with a GE French Door model. The ice maker is in the refrigerator door instead of in the freezer. It is so much louder that my vigilant watch dog started barking every time the ice dropped. Fortunately she stopped after a couple of days (or the ice maker was full).

Hold on, let me pick my jaw off the floor. I have to say there are some things I don't love about Texas, but I appreciate our housing costs, even in our slightly expensive small town.

Once the ice tray fills up, ours stops making more ice. Since we have hard water and don’t have a water softener/filter, I don’t use the ice because it has all that particulate in it. I almost never hear the ice drop anymore because the tray is always full. My annoyance is that we have a big storm coming tomorrow but it’s not supposed to get bad until the afternoon and evening. So instead of cancelling school, they’re starting at the normal time and letting the kids out early. If I’m being honest, I’d rather they just be closed from the get-go so I didn’t have to get up and get dressed when it’s cold and dark outside. And if I’m being really REALLY honest, I dread making my night owl kid get up and ready in the morning even more than dragging myself out of bed! That kid is SO crabby and pokey in the mornings!

The Minnesota Vikings training facility is right across the interstate from my office. They are closing my normal access to work for a full week before the Super Bowl, because the two teams playing in the Super Bowl will be using it. The traffic is going to be a nightmare.
And, to add insult to injury? I'm a PACKER FAN!!!

Sorry about your ice maker noise - that would annoy me too. Somedays I am super sensitive to noises and it just goes right thru me!
Today I am annoyed with a situation. Problem reported on ebay that a package wasn't received. Tracking information shows item as delivered yesterday (sunday) and person said they didn't get it. I have pms so I am just pissed it happened in the first place and second I don't know what will happen. She has all the usps tracking info, hopefully her ebay information is correct because I sent to by creating the shipping label on ebay and she needs to contact her postmaster. urghhh. Pain in the butt!

We've been having issues with DH getting DS to school late. He doesn't have a remote for the garage door, he has to use a keypad on the side of the house and if you put in the wrong number it will blink at you for several seconds before it lets you put the number in again. He is notorious for running late, then blaming it on the garage door not wanting to close -no, you're standing there trying to punch in the number while its blinking, you can't do that you have to wait. Meanwhile, DS is in the car upset that he's going to be late, again.
it's happened enough times that now we get a note from the school basically taking us to task for him being late every time.
I get a call at 8:45 (DS MUST be dropped off at 8:30). we overslept can you call the school? of course the school secretary is like suuuuuuure he had a doc appt, and I've got oceanfront property in AZ I'll sell you.
I told DH I'm going to start coming back home after dropping DD off at school which starts an hour earlier. he gets pissy with me and says no, I just need a better alarm clock. Seriously? No you don't you need to start getting your a$$ out of bed and getting your son to school ON TIME.

Had a flight booked on American for Thursday before Easter returning on Easter. Just received an email that we were taken off our original 8 a.m. flight and put on a 6 a.m. flight. The airline was oh so helpful as airlines are these days...not. No explanation as to why. I seriously doubt they would have cancelled a flight on a holiday weekend. So they probably oversold it. This means leaving our house by 3 a.m. to drive to the Hartford airport. Then when we get to our destination airport, we still have to drive another hour to get where we're going. It's a long day, even leaving at 8 a.m. Airlines suck!

Apparently that’s enough to get her package delivered to me. I took it around to them when I got home and they were surprised I did that. I’d thought about calling the carrier to have it picked up but decided that was more work than just taking it over myself. It used to happen with their mail all the time until I called the postmaster at our station.

Once a semester I volunteer at our high school. We have a Food School program, and I go in and demo buttercream, fill & crumb coat a cake, fondant it, talk about owning a business, that kind of thing.
And the Chef instructor always warns me - there is always a challenging class.
But you would think, that since she talked about being disrespectful to her (as stragglers came late and tried to explain it away and kept talking over her) when a guest was there, one might think that they would MAYBE try to shut their freaking mouths while a community GUEST is volunteering her time and skill to teach them something new.
AHHHHH!!
First period was polite and lovely. Second period had a good third of the class that never shut up. And I'm loud - but they sucked. And not my place to yell at them. I should have stopped and just done the evil stink eye at them until they caught on they were being rude. But somehow I figured that wouldn't work anyway.
I'm on a lunch/third period off break, I go back for 2pm for another class. Which is supposed to be better.

I have to say there are some things I don't love about Texas, but I appreciate our housing costs, even in our slightly expensive small town. three bedrooms start here for $2800-2900 plus utilities. and that is not a fancy place or very big. my hydro alone right now averages $175/month. i am looking for a place now and have 3 kids. i start many days looking at listings.... then am cranky and depressed for the rest of the day. i have decided to stop starting my day that way. isn't gonna solve my problem but need to take a step back for sanity's sake. i have never had an ice-maker... i just fill up trays. if it's super-annoying, can you just disable it?

There are four cans of it in the van that I just bought at Costco. I want to make some more coffee. I do not want to go out to the van. Because you know....it's sooooooooo far out there, right in the driveway at the foot of the front steps. But I don't want to... {whine}.
