Becky announced today Michaels decided not to carry her products. Doesn’t really bother me much except that now the possible new scrapper will not get the opputunity to see her things and maybe be interested in starting our hobby. I am in a well populated area and I can say that no big box stores carry that much of her product to begin with.

Surprised that they stopped selling it. But, there were so many kits coming out so quickly. I think it kind of saturated the market. I know I bought a bunch of kits that I have not used yet when they were marked down at Hobby Lobby. I saw the small Project Life kits at Hobby Lobby with the smaller album. I think that is all of the Project Life they carry there now.

If you are looking, Tuesday Morning in my area (near Ft. Worth) had some Project Life when I was there earlier today.

Exactly and the core kits are just too big, I think people were sort of collecting them in the beginning but now with as many people you see trying to sell them off maybe they just aren’t selling. The lack of selection doesn’t help either I’m guessing.

There was mention on thread about PL on clearance at Michael's and I suggested they were rotating inventory. Guess not!

At this point anyone carrying it beyond her website is shocking. She hasn't had anything new to offer in ages. What was the point in announcing that any new product made in physical format would have square corners if she was going to wait what felt like 6 months to release anything and when that did happen, it was ONE FREAKING KIT?! I would have actually considered ordering more of her stuff with square corners...including reprinting kits in mini or value kit sizes of things she had previously made in any kit size with rounded corners because it would save me the trouble of having to print them myself!

Michaels stopped being a go to place for scrapbooking supplies a LONG time ago. Other companies like Stampin Up and Close to my Heart have drastically reduced their scrapbook offerings. Kinda sad, but scrapbooking as a hobby is on a decline.

The couple stores near me haven't had big PL sections in some time. This doesn't surprise me. Michael's is all about the trends so they're pushing planners and mixed media hard right now.

I would TOTALLY BUY a square cornered kit of Currently. I actually just relocated my hoard of PL branded round cornered products to one place. I had previously kept them in 2 spots. 1 on top of my Kallax and the other in a cubby tucked away under my scrappy desk. I finally got a 2 step ladder for dirt cheap (walked right past it at WinCo because who would think you'd find a ladder at a grocery store...my husband was the one who pointed it out...the ones I had looked at that had the higher weight limit were in the $40+ range and this one was $13.37) after looking periodically for years and now I can organize the hard to reach stuff! Yay! I have 20 core kits, 6 or 7 mini kits and at least 10 value kits (they are not currently in my line of sight). I sure do hope that my kids have some fun creative projects to do in school in the next 16 years so I can put a dent in some of it. Sheesh!

I agree with the people saying the PL kits were too big. Who wants four of the same generic card? But I think the problem is Michaels, not with PL in general. PL kits around the internet seem to do just fine. Michaels just keeps scaling back on papercrafting big time at a rate FAR faster than J's or HL. I think HL is eating their physical business and J's (and a million other stores) is eating what little online business they have. Dunno if you guys saw but Ranger said Michaels hadn't ordered much their new stuff either - a rep said that on instagram after people were inquiring about whether they could get the new Dylusions stuff there. Meanwhile it's already on Blitsy. Link is here.

I think the kits were indeed too big, and the paper quality was really bad. Super thin and the printing wasn’t great. The only thing of hers I like are the page protectors.

Totally agree with all of this. Michael's is the only large craft store in Canada, we don't have Joann's or HL. Hopefully I can still order the page protectors off of Amazon, otherwise I have nowhere to get them now. SaveSave

My favorite PL Kit, Midnight, is at TM for $9.99. I didn't buy it because I still have at least 1/2 of my original kit left. I don't mind the rounded corners, but prefer square. Six years into PL I rarely use filler cards. I use PL cards as backing for my photo if it's smaller than the pocket, to journal on or to attach memorabilia to, so I'm usually covering up any filler card that has a focal point design. I said in another post somewhere that I think filler cards are for design teams. I may use one if I have a pocket to fill and no other option, but that's not the norm.

It's not surprising if you look at her Instagram feed. Michael's wants to sell stuff. Becky's feed would be a goldmine for getting people excited about product. Her feed is all about how much she loves her team, her favorite products that aren't scrapbook related, her wrapping paper and her notebooks. The app is also featured often. In the last 30 posts, I only see 9 that could be things purchased at a store. Maybe my Instagram algorithm is weird though.

Not to mention her insistence on "blending the personal and commercial" or however she phrases that - w/her unusual dress, her Jo Gaines fixation and her LDS preaching. Seriously, I feel so bad for her. Woman should'a been a preacher. It's clear she has a calling. It's too bad she's stuck in a church that only allows her to have an outlet via her "cultivating a good life" nonsense, vs. just being able to be called to be a minister.

Agree with all the comments about the card quality being pretty poor and the kits in general containing too many duplicates. It seems to me like Becky promotes a lot what works for her (the app and photo books) while ignoring a lot of what consumers want (square corners, some embellishments). I think a physical version of the new monthly kits (sold in a batch) would have some appeal to those who don't want to do a monthly kit subscription for various reasons and still want fresh but coordinating cards to work with. But what do I know, I'm just a girl pining after someone other than Inked to make 9 x 12 albums who can't afford a monthly PL subscription kit.

I know we can be hard on Becky over here. I am just going to say it. Becky is not trendy any more. She doesn't want to be trendy. I am not being a mean girl, I promise. Becky has always done things in her classic style. That is a lovely fit for a lot of people and I feel should be encouraged. I have said before I love Becky for sparking my interest in scrapbooking again with Project Life. I will always be grateful to her for bringing back that trend of pocket scrapbooking. Classic lasts for legends. It doesn't last in an industry known for trends. Shimelle & Heidi have a definite style too but they update. Becky likes her comfort zone. She can be a bit tone deaf too when it comes to artists changing needs. She is just not a marketable name for herself any more. She had her time and did lots of great things with it. StampinUp parted ways with her. I do feel SU is a classic company. They do keep a trend catalog. Granted it is classic trends. I have been grumbling about SU lately but I love they are classic trends. That is what I am into. She doesn't fit where they want to go any more. I remember she huffed about losing her partnership with them. Michael's is a hugely massive trend store. I am like a two year old when I am in Michael's looking at all the new pretty shiny things that are so fashionable. Michael's wants to attract the Generationals. They are doing a lot of Instagram stars now. They are wanting a more playful feel to their lines. I am an X'er and I do go to Michaels for trendy. I know some of you would love to never see a unicorn or llama again. I must have all of that stuff and RIGHT NOW! This is why I wrote I am not mean girling. When I go to Michael's and see the display of Becky's Project Life I am like "Oh look, old stuff! Nope!" I would be excited if Becky actually had new stuff. I wouldn't care if it was religious. I am not buying it. I would be excited about it. I would pick it up and say "Oh, this came in. Oh, look at this. This is so pretttty!" It is new, fresh. It is not stale and old. I go to stores like Michaels for trendy things. I shop at classic stores for classic. Becky's IG- OMG!!!!! Bless her. She has already had loyal fans of hers say they want to see products. She is not hearing it. I don't know if it is something she doesn't want to hear or she is just not quite understanding. The point is it makes her look tone deaf whether it is intentional or not.

This. I find Becky to be insufferable. But, I WANT to support the project life brand. But Project Life is being left behind whilst everyone else is racing forward with on trend designs, square corners, good quality card stock. There is a project life section in my Hobbycraft and I would buy from it all the time - id love to pop in on my lunch break and pick up a little treat - but the product selection is poor. Project Life’s product offering is poor.

It wouldn't surprise me if Michaels starts making a recollection take on the pl cards. That seems to be their motto. It seems like in the beginning they had some name brand scrapbooking stuff and then it was phased out into almost all recollection.

I’m such a $hithead, I had to post something to her simply because listening to her whine about it (yeah I could choose not to click on her profile) is too much. Like shut up and promote Scrapbooking kr don’t but quit bitching that everyone is dropping you because you literally aren’t making anything new.

I just read Becky's Instagram post about this and it's so weird to me. She's writing it like she's sharing a secret inside scoop with us or something ("in the interest of transparency"), but I'm pretty sure that Michael's dropping her line isn't a secret, people will notice it when it's no longer there. It's just written in a juvenile way - "Michael's has the right to carry whatever they want" - really? That is brand new information! I really like Stampin' Up!'s version of PL, their cards are gorgeous, and good quality. I think LisaDV is right and Michael's will come out with a Recollection's version of PL. That will be fine with me if I can find decent quality page protectors.
