So I’ve realized I’ve been spending crazy money on skincare and make up. Crazy, going forward I’m not going to try out as many brands because of everything I’ve tried, elemis and Dior are for me the best, and once my many elemis products are used up I think I might go exclusively Dior on new products, besides my coola sun products and various sheet masks.
As for make up I’m really going to have to try to cut back, I have a crazy amount of eye shadow palettes. And face palettes, when I go back to work in September I’m going to choose a palette each week and try to wear it every day and maybe destash some cause it’s crazy
My new obsession is Michael Kors bags and I’ve bought several from their website during their big sale, bags down from €395 to €140 plus lots half price
I’m really trying to change my life and my style
I’ve realized if I can afford to buy a ton of cheap make up bags etc, then it’s time to actually buy higher end stuff which costs more, so hopefully it will take up less space and having to save or feel the price of something will make them more exciting for me, because I think a lot of us can relate to over buying make up etc
My other new interest is jewelry, yesterday I went into town and bought myself some bracelets and a couple of necklaces in an actual jewelry store, I own nothing like this. I’m excited to wear them to my cousins wedding on Friday.
And I have to say my new Michael Kors bag is stunning, I love it so much and the quality compared to my old very scruffy looking bag is just fantastic

They work good but I’d really need another set with all the hair I have

He started the procedure and I really didn’t feel much of anything. Sometimes I think my brain fills in the sounds of what I’m hearing to what it must feel like. But it’s just a little scratch if I felt anything. They device sounds like little zipper clicks...three or four little clicks in a line. It kind of reminded me of a seeing tool wheel...that’s the picture I had in my head. He’d put the ink gel on my brows ...work on the other side and then go back to the alternating side once or twice. So it did take a bit of time. I was there 2 hours and 15 mins. It was $500. I have to either pop in for them to look at the peeling/scabbing at 2 weeks and see if any touch ups are needed. Touch ups are included in the $500 The before picture with my hand in it shows that I was losing my tails and it was getting hard for me to draw them in. The eyebrows feel ok today and like a tattoo I have to keep something similar to Vaseline on it. Hope this helps.

I must have gotten an extra thick thing of It Cosmetics CC Cream. I can't stand it, it's too thick! It looks like I have foundation caked on. But it gets so many great reviews, I think it's the particular one I have. I wish our Ulta had more helpful sales people who could help me pick out a good foundation. They don't seem very willing to help, maybe because I usually go in not wearing much makeup! They probably think I am a waste of time and won't buy expensive make up because I'm not wearing any! What did you use to apply it? Maybe a different method (beauty blender, brush, fingers) would be helpful.

I don't post often, but have loved the beauty thread. You ladies have made some of the best recommendations. Thank you!
I really like the new IT Foundation. I always went back to their CC cream because I think it helped improve my skin, but the color was never right, which is why I kept trying different stuff. The foundation line has more color options and the "Fair Light" is the perfect color for me. It's pretty similar to the CC cream in terms of coverage. I really like it & have been using about a week.
I just tried this morning the new hydrating gel from Clique. I'm getting some dry skin from using the Curology (which I also love, and has helped my skin a ton). So far it feels pretty good.
Do you ladies have a moisturizer you recommend? I love the Chanel moisturizer but cannot justify the cost. It was $165 and I went through it in 2 months.
I'd also love to hear your recommendations for bronzer/contouring. I'm super pale, with pink undertones & scared I'm going to look orange.

I got sucked in when watching some videos yesterday. Stephanie Marie talked about the Becca glow glosses and how much she loved them. I had to go to ulta to return something so looked at them there. I ended up getting two. One (beach nectar) had to be ordered since it was out of stock. Both of the ones I got were from the Chrissy Tiegen collection. I wore one last night and really like it. I used points so didn’t have to pay much. . I did come home and got rid of two lip products.

QVC is having a today’s special value on a 3 pc Peter Thomas Roth Super Size retinol for $139. I wanted some thoughts if you wouldn’t mind.
QVC.co/ptr_tsv
Does that work?

I wouldn’t for a day to see if that helps. Some of my foundations require primer and others don’t. Also if your primer the right one for your skin? It’s a great foundation for me so I’d like you to have similar results if possible.

The sorbet range is great, I’m 40 and the sales people keep trying to tell me the sorbet range won’t do anything for me and I should buy their other range which is way more expensive, I prefer the sorbet my skin feels amazing. They do a jelly night mask and it’s fab too

I do think the cc cream is thicker than most other foundations, but for me it blends really easily and quickly. It doesn’t feel heavy. And you don’t need a lot. On days that I don’t want to take time to put full makeup on, I can get decent light coverage just using the remainder of what is on my foundation brush from earlier. So I would make sure that you aren’t using a lot. Probably less than a full pump if you are using fingers. I put some on the back of my hand, then dip the brush in it and then put it on my face starting in the center and working my way out. Good luck!

I had my eyebrows micro bladed yesterday and I love them!!! They numbed me up and I had to wait there a bit while it set. He picked a color for me and we discussed the shape. I’m not a very boxey one... I just wanted something natural. We agreed on a color and then at the last minute he yelled “Espresso!” We tried that color and it looked so much better with my skin tone. He started the procedure and I really didn’t feel much of anything. Sometimes I think my brain fills in the sounds of what I’m hearing to what it must feel like. But it’s just a little scratch if I felt anything. They device sounds like little zipper clicks...three or four little clicks in a line. Touch ups are included in the $500 The before picture with my hand in it shows that I was losing my tails and it was getting hard for me to draw them in. The eyebrows feel ok today and like a tattoo I have to keep something similar to Vaseline on it. Hope this helps. I think it looks awesome. What is your after care like? Does it hurt today? How long did it take?

How long did it take? I can’t get them wet for a few days. I have to use the Vaseline 4 times a day for a while. It said no direct sun or no heavy direct air like a convertible. No really strenuous activities or chores. I was there for 2 hrs but a lot of it was waiting. Like 30 mins for numbing and at the end I sat for 20 minutes with the ink on again. It doesn’t hurt today. I’m replying in direct sun so I hope that answers everything

Nice! That one is so pretty. I want the tarte toasted palette. I’ve boguht a lot of high end palettes lately and I just started wearing eyeshadow and honestly I kinda suck at it even after studying YouTube videos. Must. Stop. Buying. Pretty. Palettes. Lol I am with you; though I am not new to makeup, I am new to high end make up. In February I purchased the ABH Modern Renaissance, and I LOVE it! It changed the ballgame for me. Then I bought the Too Faced natural eyes palette and really like it too, though I like the ABH better. Maybe I have lucked out, but I find these palettes, and I am sure the Tartelette in Bloom, just apply and blend so well. It is so much easier for me to create an eye look with these highly pigmented high quality shades. I have pretty much thrown out all my old eye shadows now. They were rather old and cheap drugstore brands. The difference is night and day for me. I have purchased some newer Milani eyeshadows (you tube recommendations) and honestly I am on the fence about them. I have an all matte palette and in the most part they work ok. But then I have a couple of their shimmer shades and they seem to have glitter pieces in them, and I just don't care for glitter. Having said that I do love a good shimmer/frost shade. Within the past 6 months I have watched many youtube videos and have learned a lot. I will say that my eye makeup is better than it was but I still have much to learn, and to practice. Which you tube channels do you watch to learn how to do eye makeup? I was so into makeup and was a Clinique "snob" back in high school through until I had my first child. I pretty much only wear makeup when we are going somewhere (which is hardly ever!). I can finally start spending money on make up again! I am excited to try but don't know where to begin. I actually got a Milani eye shadow palette with about 6 colors for Christmas, but I wasn't very impressed with it either. It could be that I just am clueless about how to apply eye make up. I felt like the shadow went all over the place when I brushed the palette and when I applied it.

Her eyeshadow look is my favorite and she shows how to apply in many videos .i bought some of the palettes she had so I can exactly follow allow at first and now I get her basic rules so I use other palettes and “get it.” My eye makeup looks nothing like her yet but it looks better than it ever had and I can wear it out of the house without shame! Lol

It’s a great foundation for me so I’d like you to have similar results if possible. I have no idea what primer is right for my skin! Back when I wore make up, it was pretty much the basics, moisturizer, foundation, eye shadow, eye liner and mascara. I have never had acne, even as a teen, so I would guess I have normal facial skin? My hands are so dry and cracked, even in the summer, but my face doesn't seem dry. I had the Neutragena primer, but usually forget to use it. I bet it's something I'm doing wrong, not the make up itself. We travel for Christmas so I may have to try the Sephora $50 makeover! We have a Sephora near us, and my kids have had the makeovers, but we haven't been too impressed with our local Sephora. I've heard great things about Sephora on this board, so I bet they could really help me re-learn to wear make up! I usually see young people (teens and 20s) there getting makeovers, so I want to find someone good with those of us older than 40!

I’ve been using the Ulta brand of rapid tanning foam this summer and I really like it. Downside it actually isn’t that “rapid” I didn’t get enough color with just an hour of application, so I put it on at night and sleep with it on. I lay down a towel so I don’t mess up my sheets. The color lasts about a week and looks very natural. I apply it with a tanning mitt and have to have my husband’s help getting my back. I have always had a question about the tanning mitt. Everyone recommends them, but then don't you have a line where your wrist is? One of the beauty bloggers was recommending an expensive tanning lotion, and the mitt. She had a very visible line where her hand (pale) met her arm (tan). I used to use tanning lotion and put it on my hands, but had a wet paper towel sitting on the sink counter and rubbed my inner hand on it after. It worked for me, but I was very careful. But I bet the mitt makes it go on more evenly on your arms and legs.

I tried a Maybeline blurring / pore minimizing primer the other day. I thought it gave it enough time to set and dry. It was awful w my foundation. I was using the Perricone no foundation foundation serum and it was all streaky, setting into my pores... almost gummy. I had to wash my face and start over. Grrrr....
I did use it over my mineral sunscreen but I put that on almost 30 minutes before I even applied the primer. What am I doing wrong? Is it the primer and foundation combo or what?
What is your favorite primer? I would really like to minimize my pores but I game for anything if it helps the makeup stay on longer.

What is your favorite primer? I would really like to minimize my pores but I game for anything if it helps the makeup stay on longer. Primer is what works with your skin. I tried Hourglass and my skin felt prickly. I tried Laura Mercier and I looked a little too tanned. I don’t like Smashbox because it forms little balls of gunk on my face. I didn’t like the Fenty one for the same reason as Smashbox. I like Benefit’s Porefessional. I get good results consistently. I have Tatcha and I like it. I just got Bobbi Brown and it feels amazing on my skin. I have something else and I will mention it when I remember. I like it, too. I don’t have a favourite but I have several good ones. I think you have to be prepared to find whatever if there is a whatever that works for you. Get samples from Sephora and experiment. Also be wary that primer for you might not even be necessary. I like wearing it and I love how my foundation looks with it on, but you may not even need it. If you don’t spend the money on good concealer, foundation or mascara. I am on the fence if you need to spend a lot of money on lipstick.

The other one was Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Primer.
The Bobbi Brown one is nice. It looked really good yesterday. I used it with Laneige foundation one day and another day It CC cream so far. I will do more experimenting in the next few days.
I got that under eye primer from Becca. That went back right away. Big fail!

After I dropped my daughter off at work, I had a craving for a watermelon mojito smoothie. After I got that, I went across the street to Ulta and bought the ABH Norvina palette. (I might have also got the Mac Jeremy Scott palette yesterday because it's being discontinued and I LOVE the packaging. It wasn't part of the anniversary sale, but I got sucked in anyway. I'm glad today's the last day of that sale!)

Lol Lisa J is my favorite also! She used to be a trainer for MAC cosmetics, and she is a great teacher!! She not only shows you how to apply make up, she tells you why, and talks about what types of brushes to use and why. I think the first video i watched of Lisa J, was her ABH Modern renaissance eye palette tutorial. I went right out and bought that palette, and just like @pagat said, I copied exactly what she did with the same colors. I did not have the same brushes, as she uses a lot of expensive mac brushes, but i made do with what I had, and was quite pleased with the results. It was very rare for me to ever receive a compliment on my makeup, after I adopted some of her tips and techniques I regularly receive compliments now! I also like Emily Noel, but i prefer Lisa J.

I'm glad today's the last day of that sale!) Ooooo, please give a review on the ABH Norvina palette. I love ABH palettes, and love the look of this one, just aren't sure about the glittery shades.

No line on my wrist. After I’m finished with my body I run my hands over the fake tan that’s still drying and then wash my hands, it blends well.
