I think ole Ted just ticked off a bunch of suburban "I hate politics but I vote Republican" soccer moms who *gasp* DYE their hair!! And their conservative-voting mothers-in-law who have also been known override mother nature in the hair department probably are non too pleased either. And Ted thinks augmented breasts are not prevalent in Texas. Honey, Texas women have been silicone-ing since the 80's - at least.
Or is he upset about silicon?! As in Solar PV panels? and high-tech. Yeah, those are pretty popular these days in TX too, Ted.

Humble is a suburb of Houston, it's not rural small town Texas. I mean, there is a small town-ish old part of the city but most of it is typical American suburbia. Strip malls and subdivisions. I can't see that message going over too well among the general population there.
I'm sure he has his followers there who are all on it though. I live in a different Houston suburb town, and there is a very vocal segment of the population who fear and hate anything new, different, and progressive. They bitch every time an ethnic or healthier choices restaurant opens, they put down people who are into recycling and other eco-friendly measures, and they react almost violently against anything alternative or counterculture. But the rest of the town goes about its business despite them.

If he doesn’t like hair dye and silicone, he really shouldn’t go to Dallas.
But honestly, it doesn’t matter. Half of Texas will blindly vote for him just because he has an R after his name. They just don’t care enough to pay attention.

And honestly, Beto doesn't seem like a dyed hair, silicone boob loving kind of guy but if that's what Ted thinks will work, God bless him.

Cruz is not drawing the crowds like Beto. Last weekend just 15 minutes from Humble Beto held an event at Stampede Country Bar and it was jam packed.
While I am hopeful Beto will be oir next Senator, I am worried. Lots of Republicans show up to vote. I don't think any Republican in my neighborhood will vote Beto.
Everything that comes out of Cruz's mouth is swarmy..

This is exactly the fear he is trying to play on. Making "others" bad and unwanted.[/quote] Thankfully, it's a vocal minority who embrace it in these Houston suburb towns. They're just little pockets of opposition surrounding an enormous diverse and fairly progressive city. The city votes blue, most of the little communities surrounding it vote red. But the city keeps expanding and growing and pushing outward. In the 10 years I've lived in my little Houston suburb town I've seen a lot of growth and diversification happen locally, and the same group of blowhards keep pushing back against it and complaining loud and hard. But progress happens anyway.

from twitter:
The Democrats, Cruz tells the crowd, want to turn Texas into California with their “tofu, silicon, and dyed hair.”
Rick Wilson responded:
Has he never been to Dallas?

DT is coming to Texas to help Cruz. I think we should put help in air quotes... because we all know DT's "help" isn't exactly about actual HELP for the candidate. It's helping DT's ego.

He’s totally desperate. His campaign has had to “smear” Beto with some trouble he got into in college and the fact that he was in a band in high school. Because there is literally nothing else.

I don’t think anyone here is disputing that. He is allowed to express his opinions and the rest of us are allowed to agree, to ignore, or to laugh our asses off.

It sounds like there is a tinge of desperation to his message . . . There needs to be. In my area, normally I would only see Republican signs. Hands down, Beto has more signs out than Cruz. Cruz came here a few weeks ago, and compared to the crowd Beto had when he came, people here are starting to look for other options than just sticking with the Republicans. Normally, no one ever comes to my area. Its just a given that we would go Republican. But Beto has been here (guessing) five times already, with Cruz only coming 3 times or so.

Like I dyed my hair to cover gray or like I dyed my whole head purple?
Not that it really matters, my hair, my body, my money, whatever stay the hell out of MY body & MY business. But I’m just checking/curious if I could ‘get away’ with it or not when I visit. Right now I just cover my gray so if I have it done here before I go he won’t be hunting me down on the streets right? LoL
AND if he does mean all dyed hair what exactly is he going to do to all the businesses that would take a financial hit? Subsidize all the Texas salons?
I’m being sarcasticastic here because I don’t think he meant it at all. He just spouted off without any thought to the words, trying to make a rallying sound byte. And I don’t know about y’all in Texas but spouting off stuff without thought is not a desirable attribute in my representative of either/any party. I’ve been stuck with a few speak before thinking Governors and it’s not a good thing
