but certainly child bridesmaids and pageboys are very common. Well, I think it needs to stop - can you have a word to someone about that?

Shouldn’t all those little ones be in car seats?

They are often children of the bride and groom! Hmm...probably not too many brides and grooms have 8-10 kids all around the same age! The Queen's bridesmaids were mostly older, the youngest was 10yo, one was 16yo and others were all 18+. I understand having one or two kids to carry the ring or scatter some flower petals etc, but I don't really get why you need a whole gaggle of little kids. You'd think that would just make it more stressful. I thought I read Beatrice was the Maid of Honour?...but as I didn't see the telecast, did she walk down the aisle? it doesn't look like it in the photos. As for the official photos above, I guess that lady is the groom's mother - I love her outfit!

As for the official photos above, I guess that lady is the groom's mother - I love her outfit! I suppose things have changed a little in the 71 years since the Queen got married, we do try and move with the times I'm not saying it's never done but it's not usually the norm here for them to scatter rose petals or for the little pageboys to carry a ring cushion. The odd weddings might but it's not common to do so and the rose petals would certainly not happen in a church. I think it was just speculation on the side of the press that Beatrice was going to be the matron of honour. No she didn't walk with her sister. She arrived and walked to her seat with her mother. I love seeing little ones at a wedding, I think it's cute. I depends on how many the Bride/groom has to choose from I guess as to how many she has. In Eugenie's case it was difficult for her. Apart from two of the bridesmaids and the other pageboy, the rest of them were her cousin's children. Hard to have some and not the others really when they are that little.

Those kids certainly do look a hot mess in the official portrait.
Especially the one girl with her legs up. Yikes.

After looking at the portraits that @zingermack posted, I wonder if there was a different photographer for each wedding. The Sussex wedding photographer did a much better job of getting all the children to smile. I remember reading an article on how that photographer was able to get even George to smile as he tends to be a bit more shy. All the children in yesterday's photo seem so glum by comparison. Also, piddly detail but they left the one door open behind Beatrice and you can see into the next room, which drives this amateur photographer nuts. Not one of the better arranged portraits I've seen.

I think the Sussex portrait is much better though. Apart from the kids, I don't like the adults being so far apart. I would have put them closer together, but what do I know!

I didn't actually get to see on of the wedding telecast, I've just seen the photos online. I really like her dress, especially the material, liked it much better then Meghan's dress which I thought was far too plain. Loved the tiara, and thought it looked great with the dress. Still traditional but in a modern way. She looked so naturally happy and not too nervous at all. I'm not a fan of all the little kids at weddings, is this a royal thing or is it common in everyday British weddings? I'm used all grown up bridesmaids and groomsmen and maybe one kid as ring bearer. They seem to be far more trouble then they are worth in a wedding party and don't even look that great in photos...half of them look like they are about to get up and run off. I think they overdid it with the kids this time. I'd much rather have adults in the wedding party - more dresses to love or hate. As I said earlier, I don't know much about them as "royals" but they certainly having an interesting and eclectic group of friends! That might make them superficial royals, but I bet they have great parties. I’m getting married next year and I’m going to have 3 flower girls and a maid of honour. I also love the dress and tiara.

And Beatrice's hat was purple and her dress was blue...but close enough shades that they looked 'off' to me. I was all nice about the wedding on Friday but I'm cranky now because I dont have any chocolate so all bets are off!

I've read that the pageboy suits were 'mini' versions of Harry's military uniform, officially dubbed the frockcoat of the Blues and Royals.

I think Mia Tindall is cute, but she's 4yo, too young to be going through all that palaver and then sit nicely in a photo. That other little boy looks like he's searching for an escape route too, in one of the other photos he's sliding off a chair and looks like he wants to make a run for it.

Not one of the better arranged portraits I've seen. Yes, they were different photographers and I agree with you. Not so much care taken on Saturday as at the Sussex's wedding. In addition to what you mentioned, the spacing is also a mess on Eugenie's photos. Alexi Lubomirski too Prince Harry's and Alex Bramall took Princess Eugenie's.

Well I think the kids make it! They keep things less formal and more fun imho. The more I think of it, I don’t see the point of a number of adult bridesmaids! I love both photos although I think the adults could have been closer in the Eugenie one. As for the open door, I don’t mind that either, it makes it less formal to me. I imagine The Queen was the last person into the room and it would take a brave photographer to get the door closed behind her particularly as she was likely to be the first out of the room. Imho.

I’m going to say with the age and health of the Queen and Duke of Ed. I’m hoping the focus wasn’t on getting the little kids to look perfect sibthey could move on from portraits in what I’m sure was an exhaustive day.
And I’m thinking they didn’t want Fergie right behind the Duke, so they spaced all the adults out so she didn’t stand alone?

Ha...I just had a thought, remember a couple of years ago when some photographers were taking too long and Prince Philip snapped, "just take the fucking picture"? ( link) LOL...it looks like Mia Tindall might be thinking the exact same thing! Look at her hand and her legs..."just take the fucking picture...and we can all get out of here"
