We are having prime rib at my sister’s and I’m in charge of dessert. I’m looking for some ideas.

I would serve something chocolatey (mousse, pie, pudding...) and some decorated sugar cookies.
Or you could go with pumpkin pie, if everyone likes that!

My brother in law is a pumpkin pie addict, so that’s a definite. DH is pushing for chocolate pie, but I’ve never had a chocolate pie that I’ve actually liked.

I plan to put out a tray of chocolates, cookies and peppermint brownies because it's just the family and I know by the time we're done with dinner no one will be too interested in dessert.
If we were having more people over, I'd make a trifle.

At MIL's for lunch we will be having plum pudding with custard I imagine. Well, those of us who like it anyway. Then for dinner I will be making a lemon meringue pie, as I do every year.

I have made this before and it always goes over well. I'll usually just heat up a jar of chocolate frosting and pour it over the top rather than make the topping. It keeps well in the fridge afterwards too. chocolate eclair dessert

Chocolate mousse. It is a family favorite. Thick and rich.

I ordered desserts from an Italian bakery and I overdid it, as I always do: tray of Italian cookies; tiramisu; cannoli nachos; tray of Italian pastries; chocolate cheesecake; strawberry swirl cheesecake.

We are having a malva pudding with ice cream Now that I would enjoy! I've not been successful in recreating the same taste when I try to make one here in the US.

I made Paula Deen's butter cake which is WAY too sweet. So I'm going to use it to make a trifel with vanilla pudding, whipped cream and berries to hopefully cut some of the sweet.

After years of admiring the fancy yule logs at the upscale grocery store, I finally decided this was the year! I hope it's good.

Our tradition is chocolate fondue. We dip pretzels, grapes, pears, apples, bananas, mangoes, strawberries and kiwi. My grandkids love it.

I got lazy this year and ordered pies from the grocery store bakery (they're actually quite good). Half pecan and half apple.
We've also made a bunch of cookies.

I bought a boston cream pie cake from the grocery store. (Looks like vanilla custard in between two yellow cake layers with chocolate frosting.) But I want to go to peabay's for cannoli nachos.

I have made a lemon meringue pie, a cherry cheesecake pie, cut out cookies, russian tea cake cookies, and thumbprint cookies for Christmas Eve and my mom will have fudge.
For Christmas day I am making chocolate cream pie.
I never base dessert off of the main meal. Make what sounds good.

My favorite thing to make is a trifle. They’re easy and look like they took a lot of work. I get so bored with pies during the holidays. It’s something different. Last year I made a gingerbread one, with homemade gingerbread. This year it’s egg nog with egg nog spiced pound cake.
