I remember the old Swap Boards. So much drama there. It seemed every single swap had someone who didn't ship their stuff, or someone who was organizing one kept all the stuff and disappeared. Then they added moderators, there was a big scandal with someone saying nasty stuff and it turned out to be the alter ego of one of the mods.

I lurked more than posted on the previous board because we lived overseas and the timing just never seemed right for the movement of the posts I was interested in. One memory I have that I'm surprised no one has mentioned is the woman who turned over all of the suggestive magazines in the checkout line so that her husband wasn't *tempted* If I remember right, it wasn't pornography {because who puts those in the checkout anyway} but any magazine with a swimsuit, cleavage or other *sexy* cover. I also remember Lou. I think her user name was Blackberry Lou. I think we were at the same base for a short time, but never got to meet. Ha! Completely forgot about the turning the magazines over. That was hilarious. What a strange way to live, feeling the need to have your wife police your life like that, and her wanting to. British peas will understand my thought here. I remember thinking I wish I knew where that poster lived, and I could get my hands on some good Page 3 newspapers, and watch the vapors ensue.!

I remember a pea named Angel-something? who kept a ton of swaps from people, and peas sent cash with their swaps for the return postage and she kept making excuses why she couldn’t ship—kids were sick, didn’t have a car, other problems...and a pea in TX called her out and drama ensued. It was epic!

I can't remember how I found 2Peas but it's been quite a few years! I was a lurker on the old board then decided to join when 2PRefugees was started. I remember a lot of the threads shared! Two threadsI remember that haven't been mentioned (that I've seen): 1. The pea whose husband volunteered her home for Thanksgiving dinner without asking her if it was OK. He said he would take care of everything, even though he had no idea what was involved with producing a Thanksgiving dinner. The Pea did what she had planned to do (clean the house) then let her husband take over. She still tried to help him by suggesting that maybe he needed to run to the store to get (whatever), or start (whatever), etc. He kept saying he had everything under control. Thanksgiving day she gave us a play by play account of what was happening. I laughed so hard at her commentary. She was so good natured about it too--even to those peas who criticized her for leaving her husband to sink or swim on his own. That was one of the most amusing threads! 2. One started by MaryMary, I think, maybe in response to another one. I can't really remember the details anymore, but I think she mentioned she was hungry and asked if anyone could bring her something to eat. The whole thing turned into the most hilarious thread of offering to bring the most ridiculous food items. A lot of them were making fun of LDS culture (those terrible Jello salads with everything except the kitchen sink!). It was all in good fun and another thread that really made me laugh. Merilee I loved that Thanksgiving story. I kept looking all day that day for updates. She was like a sports commentator giving play-by-play updates!!!!!

This thread is so awesome, I remember so many of these stories!
I joined the old board from dMarie in 2001, but mostly lurked 'cause I was scared! Thanks for bringing back a whole bunch of old memories.

Does anyone remember the young woman who got married - she was posting about her wedding dress and other wedding plans, then something happened on her wedding night and there was no intimacy. People kept telling her her new husband was gay, but she didn't believe that. I believe she posted a few times that they still had not had sex and then she disappeared.

I believe that was Compwalla/Virginia. She was my most formidable opponent on Words With Friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. She seemed so strong and at peace with everything. R.I.P., Virginia! No, Compwalla/Virginia had adrenal cancer and did everything she could to fight it. I was friends with her from another online group. Thank you for the correction. My apologies for the mix-up!

Who remembers those Oreo cookie ball things? Only NSBR could make smooshed Oreo cookie crumbles and cream cheese (I think that what was in them) controversial. I do. I made them several times and they were always a hit!

This thread has been amazing and has brought out lots of lurkers! I hope you all stay around and contribute more to help keep this board alive and buzzing. Yes! I do miss how fast the old board used to move! It needs everyone to participate rather than just lurk and read. I know I probably sound like a broken record but apparently this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine! 😉 If everyone just read but never or rarely posted where would we be? I know people feel shy or think they have nothing of value to add but we all bring our own perspective, different ideas etc to the table. Everyone has something of value to add but without input 2 peas will fizzle out and that’s too awful to contemplate!! 😳 Isn’t it?

I never participated in swaps, but wasn't there some kerfuffle over someone who sent a bag of orange punches? I can't remember what the punched shape was, just that it was orange, and there was all kinds of uproar about it. And it was joked about for years.

It was orange clouds. Man, there was quite the upset over that, lol.

The story I remember is the lady whose husband was on a business trip, and she learned something scary about him, and had decided to disappear. I don’t believe she ever came back to update, and I’ve always wondered if she is ok. Maybe she’s one of the stories on “Forensic Files”. Who knows? I worried about her for a long time. I remember this as well. She has a son and daughter. She was semi-well known. Peggy? Patsy? I remember she scrapped in a lot of bright colors. Lots of lime green.

There was a pea named Hawkmoon on the oldboard. It said something about living in Virginia 200 years of unimproved history or something like that?
Maybe 10-15 years ago, she worked part time at a scrap book store in the city when it was still open. I would go in and ask for her but never met her. The store closed after a while like most.
I haven't seen her post in forever.
Anyone remember her?

The one I’m thinking of was a knitter or crochet girl and homeschooled her kids.

Time sure flies.
What is it on this board or the old board where the husband was going to take some scouts camping and because of a big fight between the Pea and the husband the kids were not going to have anything to eat but potatoes? I don’t remember the details but I do know that they quibbled about who should be responsible for the food and she finally threw up her hands and stayed out of it. Does any of that sound familiar?

I think that the person who started that swap insisted on a certain "quality" of swap items from the participants and then she herself ended up putting in orange cloud punches.

Oh, I just remembered one that broke my heart. There was a young mom with 2 or 3 toddlers. They were out of control and would rub feces on the walls. Her husband was super controlling, she had no car, no way to get out and go anywhere. Drugs were involved. Things got pretty desperate for her. Then a pea found a newspaper article about a couple of toddlers found wandering in the night in nothing but diapers and it was cold out. The parents were found stoned at home. We were pretty sure it was her as the parents had the same first names as she and her husband did, it was in her town, and the kids were the same ages and genders as hers. She never came back on the boards. It broke my heart, because I'm sure she lost those kids. Not that she shouldn't have, but still.... Her name was Lindy or Lindsey, something like that.

The drama on NSBR paled in comparison at times to the drama on the Swap Board.
I remember one swap in particular where the pea who organized the swap kept making excuses for not sending the swap materials out even though she had received everyone's swap materials and postage costs several months prior. Some of the swap participants went a little overboard and said they were going to report her to the Inspector General and make sure that she was prosecuted for mail fraud.
The organizer of the swap then logged in and called the peas who wanted to report her to the Inspector General some really really vile names.
Other peas reminded the organizer that her behavior was not very Christian.
The organizer of the swap then said her anger was righteous indignation and therefore not a sin. She compared herself to Jesus when he cleared the temple of the sellers.
I have no idea if those peas ever did receive their swap materials, but the thread was very entertaining.
