UPDATE- My package was delivered today and one of the contents, EK Powder Tool, was cracked and the powder pouring out, bummer. I will get a replacement. FedEx placed the package under my door mat, so when I stepped out of the door to retrieve it, guess what I stepped on? What a dumb place to put a package. Where was I supposed to step? I received my Amazon Prime 2 day shipping package from UPS, but not FedEx today. My package was supposed to arrive by 8:00 pm tonight. What has been your experience with delayed Prime shipping? I didn't need the items today, but I paid for 2 day shipping with the Prime membership. It's the principal.... thoughts?

If I didn't need the stuff within the 2 days but got it fairly soon after the 2 days I would let it go. Especially if this is an isolated incident. That's just me though and how I would handle it.

I ordered a couple of pet items with Prime and it will arrive in 3-5 days. Whaaaaat? 3-5 days is not prime.

I canceled our Prime membership for this very thing. It seems that ever since they raised the membership fee the shipping started to suck. We'd pay for 2 day shipping and be lucky to receive it within 3-5 days. If/when I complained I would be told "oh 2 day shipping means we ship to the USPS within 2 days then they get you your package". Then they'd insist it had been delivered to USPS within 2 days so it was 2 day shipping!! Kat

I didn't need the items today, but I paid for 2 day shipping with the Prime membership. It's the principal.... thoughts? What's the FedEx tracking say about where the package is? I think if it were in town, I'd let it go. Or maybe wait and see if it says two-day shipping or something on the label and take it up with FEDEX for being slow. But not picked up from Amazon yet? I'm gonna write a letter when it gets here. The thing is, I'm not sure what they're gonna do about it for you. Two years ago, I ordered a keyboard for my sister's iPad. I don't remember why I was so late in ordering it-- might have been that it took her that long to tell me she wanted it. Anyhow, I ordered it and paid EXTRA for shipping because it had said I would have the package on the 23rd. Guaranteed. Except I didn't get it in time. I got it the 24th, but I needed it that morning, and so I was gone before it was delivered. When I emailed, they apologized and refunded the shipping. Which was fine, since the product was right. But with your shipping "cost" folded into your already-paid membership, I'm not sure how they make it right. (Account credit, maybe?) Anyhow, the amount of annoyed I'd be kind of depends on where my package is on day 2.

I have let it go a few times now. Another pea recently told me that you can email them and complain and they will extend your prime membership by a month. I haven't done it yet. But I think I will next time, 2 day shipping means 2 day shipping. They give you the date it should arrive when you check out so even if they hand it over to USPS in 2 days or whatever, the date you get it should be the date shown on the checkout screen.

The only time I've had an issue is when the item is delivered via USPS. I get text updates saying my package was handed over to X company for delivery. Fed Ex and UPS are always delivered within the 2 days. USPS will sometimes take an additional day. Next time it happens, I will say something to Amazon.

I think you should complain. The deal is you pay a membership and get your stuff in 2 days. That's how it has always works. If you don't complain to them, then how do they know that their system isn't working?
Since they have change from using UPS exclusively, I have had more delayed packages. With enough complaints hopefully, they will reassess their shipping methods.

If it's on odd occurrence and i'm not needing the item, I generally let it go. In general the service has been good so I don't want to nitpick.
BUT if it's reoccurring or a problem for me, I have no problem complaining either. Last November I think there were several weeks where everything from them was coming late. I have no idea why because it was well before the you'd expect the holiday rush... I did complain, i'd had probably 3 or so packages late in a couple weeks. They apologized and extended my membership a month. Haven't had any issues with them lately.

That's weird.
I am relatively new to being a Prime member. Every package I have ordered has arrived at its destination within two days unless it stated on the item description "not eligible for Prime." The only exception may have been something I sent to my son in Alaska, and I can't remember if it was one of those "not eligible" items or not. Granted, I am not ordering constantly, but I have sent gifts to family members through Prime a number of times, and they always seem to get them within the two day window.

If it's the first time, I'd probably let it go. I have only had it happen once.
If it keeps happening I'd definitely complain.

There are some items that are marked as Prime but they don't guarantee a 2 day delivery. Basically, the item may not actually ship for a week or more but once it IS shipped, it will arrive in 2 days. I wouldn't say it is common, but I am seeing the estimated ship day being like that more and more.

The 2 day shipping promise has been a disappointing joke all summer for us. We were just discussing this. This was our first year to pay for "prime" and certainly won't re up at the $99 price. We ordered a lot from amazon this year and seldom was there 2 day shipping. BUT far more important, we discovered over and over that Amazon was raising the prices. For instance, the week before we signed up for prime, I bought three of an item for $13 each and got free shipping. The week after we were signed up for prime, I went to order one more of the same item and suddenly it was $17.49. Over and over again, we've found that the prime price was more than it should have been. We now don't trust Amazon.

I've had 3 big issues in the last few months with Prime. I've had it for 4-5 years now, and I'm seriously considering canceling. One 2-day package took 10 days. It simply had no tracking info. One order simply didn't go through. It was a textbook, and I had to do a weeks worth of work in two days. My last order was not delivered by the Friday promised, but the following Monday.
They have given me free membership extensions, and various gift credits, but it doesn't matter. I just want my stuff when it's promised.

To me, Prime is really expensive.
It's too expensive to not get what you're paying for.
I would say something each and every time.

I would double check the original receipt you received where it states the estimated delivery date because a PP is right, not all prime items are guaranteed to ship and arrive within 2 days.
Amazon definitely wants to know how the shipping was when it comes from a 3rd party and not Amazon. If this was coming from a 3rd party, I'd give them feedback when they ask if it did not arrive by the estimated shipping date on your e-mailed receipt.

I use prime shipping all the time - usually the packages are on my doorstep within 2 days (sometimes one!) the delays are usually because of the shipping company, Amazon gets the package to them in sufficient time for them to deliver it in 2 days, and for whatever reason, the shipper takes another day. Most cases it is the next day, and if it was longer I would complain.
When I figured how many things we order from Amazon and the cost that we would have paid for shipping, we save money with prime. Would we order as often if we paid for shipping, probably not, but it is convenient and I do wait until I have several things in my cart before ordering.
But we use prime for watching movies and tv shows. we dropped our netflix sub because we didn't use it and we actually use the prime movies more than we did netflix.

Not all items are available for Prime shipping. I would double check the item first to see if it was indeed supposed to be 2 day shipping. If so, and you got it later (3 days I am assuming. It isn't clear in your OP how late it was), then I would let them know. Not as a complaint but just let them know. If it were my company and I paid for 2 day shipping and the customer didn't get it in time, I would want to know and they would too.

I would say that about 1 out of 5 times I order Prime eligible items, they don't arrive in two day. I have never complained, but I am seriously considering not renewing my Prime.

I wouldn't say it is common, but I am seeing the estimated ship day being like that more and more. I've seen this, too. I think they are getting more realistic with their shipping timeline.
The 2 day shipping promise has been a disappointing joke all summer for us. We were just discussing this. This was our first year to pay for "prime" and certainly won't re up at the $99 price. But this is the way it always is with Amazon. Put it in your cart and then watch the item. The price on some items will often fluctuate by the hour. You can also clear your cookies and sign out of Amazon. Do your shopping and you can see if you get a different price. Then sign back in to complete the order.
I would double check the original receipt you received where it states the estimated delivery date because a PP is right, not all prime items are guaranteed to ship and arrive within 2 days. This is when I see late packages, too. If a company tells Amazon that they will do two day shipping, they better do two day shipping. Sometimes I need the item right away, sometimes I don't. But I need that information to know if I should order or not. But then, there is the packages that come in a day. Those guys are the overachievers!

I used to not complain if I didn't really need the items. But now I complain every time. In the past six months or so ALL of our orders that get shipped via On Track have been late - by two to five days. I don't have a problem with USPS, FedEx or UPS only On Track. IMO, Amazon doesn't care. And in my experience they don't extend your membership as mentioned above. I'm going to seriously reconsider continuing the program next year when the price increases. But they've sucked us in with the Prime music and the movies.
So yes, please complain. If enough people do hopefully they will fix it.
Edited - I forgot to add that when I complain my items have all be past the delivery date on the confirmation email.
hahaha- when I clicked the edit button I accidentally clicked the like button. I didn't know you can like your own post!

My experience has been that the rare times it happens, it always happens with FED EX. If the package was delivered on day 3 at least and it wasn't an ongoing problem (frequent occurence), I'd let it go. 99% of my 2-day Prime packages have arrived on time so I haven't had to complain.

My cat food came one day later than I had hoped. Can't beat the price though. I don't like that I found out the delivery would be three days not two after I placed the order. That's my beef with it.

For the most part, I get my shipments by the expected delivery date and sometimes sooner. There have been several times I received orders the next day. So If it only happened once in a great while I would let it slide.

If it took more than the two days, I would let Amazon know. It may have been a delay on the carriers end. I am on Amazon Prime to and I was surprised when I ordered a case for iPhone 6 Plus one evening and it arrived the next day. That has happed several times, but not all orders get here early. I don't think that I have had one arrive past the two day shipping.

I wish they would separate the shipping from the other Prime benefits. My tv watching is about 75% prime streaming.
I'm another that doesn't get her items within 2 days. Books usually come that fast, but nothing else. I ordered something I needed that I can't get locally (specialized pet food), and paid the extra for overnight. Didn't come for 3 days. When I complained, they re-shipped the item, but it was still a few days before it got here. All they did was refund the $3.99 I paid for next day shipping. I ended up driving to a city 90 minutes away to get it because it was something I had to have. I was cursing Amazon all the way. Lol!
I have complained before about the slow shipping, but was given the same line about it being delivered to post office or fed-ex within 2 days. I've never been offered an extension of my prime membership.
I've been taking them up on the $1 credit for books or movies for slower shipping. It gets to my house about the same amount of time. But I no longer group orders together. I check out each item individually to get the most credits.
I also make sure I don't check the prime only option box while shopping. Frequently I can get the same item with shipping costs added cheaper than prime with 'free' shipping. And once again, if I'm not getting the items within 2 days, it's not worth paying for the non-existent benefit.
The only reason I still shop Amazon frequently is because the convenience. I'd much rather order something at midnight in my pjs while watching Doctor Who instead of driving into town to hit Target. I also find that I spend less on-line because I tend to get what I need only. But I can't seem to get out of Target without spending $100.

I always get my Prime items delivered on time, or earlier (like 1 day!)
it's totally worth it for me.
I also have had luck when something important got lost. they re-sent the item right then while I was on the phone. they just had me cancel the item from my computer. Everyone was happy, including grandson!

I have been a member for a few years and have only once had a late delivery, and then, it was after 8PM but was delivered on the right day, so no way was I going to actually complain about that.
I have, however, once or twiceaccidentally ordered a Hatchett book from them without noticing that the book wouldn't ship for weeks. I cancelled when I realized. That dispute is the pits.
