joblackford That's a busy schedule you've got there and a particularly difficult situation to deal with regarding your MIL's paranoia. Like you, I'd get the book printed during one of Blurb's awesome sales and store it away for the future. It's one less thing to deal with when your MIL stops believing you're stealing stuff from her home. I understand that the chaos of your overpacked holiday season is making you see things through the glass-half-empty goggles. I hope you can put the stress and negative vibes away for your Thanksgiving break and enjoy Hawaii to the max. Sure, it's no fun coming home to overcast grim skies but you will have had loads of fun, sunshine, warmth and family fun for a bit. That's what matters. I do understand your feelings about this as I dread winter weather too (I'm still in denial summer's over, to be honest). Now, what's this Halloween tree you mention? PS: I thought of you while looking through the Fortnum & Mason Christmas cookbook. The illustrations are gorgeous and oh so festive (but very different from Sanna's geometric scandi style).

Sorry for taking over this thread today but to all those curious about IKEA's 2019 Vinter collection, here's the direct link to the press kit! I think that white dala horse with folkloric blue and red print might just *have* to come home with me...

Now, what's this Halloween tree you mention? I should say, I'm more looking forward to Xmas than my post might suggest - I'm just trying to be realistic about some aspects so I can get excited about the good bits. I'm working through my potential overwhelm now so I can enjoy December. I've already signed up for the fun run and bought tickets for the gay men's chorus fun so December 7th is going to be FESTIVE! woohoo. Two different holiday outfits to come up with from my minimal costuming stash. Now, about the Halloween tree... A couple of years ago I figured out that 1. I need a little more sparkle in the dark months, and 2. it's hard to decorate in my house without having a clear, large focal point. So I put up my fake little Xmas tree in mid-October and decorate it with Halloweeny things. I have some Nightmare Before Christmas die cuts I stick on it and some spiders and fake webs (in addition to the real ones my friendly spinners add all over the house) but mostly it's about the orange and purple lights. And it gives me a place to put some little Halloweeny tchotchkes where I will actually notice them. I also add a cute Grim Reaper photo to the ancestor photo wall, just for a laugh. He gets a paper Santa hat in December. After Halloween I take down the purple + spooky stuff and leave up the orange bits, adding a fake fall leaf garland. That tides me over until it's time to add the real decorations after Thanksgiving. I don't actually decorate much for the holidays, not compared to many people around here, but having it all focused around the tree makes me happy. Around Epiphany I take down most of it, but depending on my mood I might leave up some wintery sparkles. I've been tempted to carry on with a Valentine and Mardi Gras and Easter tree, but by January I'm usually ready to clean all the things and generally have less of everything. If I had a bright Scandi house I would love simple Scandi decorations, but that's just not the look or feel this house has. It's old and warm and pretty woody, and I can work with that. This year I think I'm going to add some tomte gnome elements. If not to my house, at least to my cards and album.

I hope you'll share a pic with us if you put it up for Halloween again this year! groovy Great find! It's also very much on theme with that huge red block pattern. Another one of BBB's leftovers. Sigh, SC has turned into a cemetery for all the dead Inked collabs.

Sharing the December/Christmas 2019 moodboard LO I just finished: It's a fun project to make to help you look forward to the final month of the year, get your rough planning done, think about the mood you're trying to achieve this year, visualise things.

I'm thinking about adding a key dates page to my December documenting this year with all the dates that I did something in advance for Christmas. Gift buying, Christmas recipe testing, DD/JYC goodies purchased, first time I played my Christmas playlist, etc. A bit à la old style ledger page. I love seeing scribbled ledger pages in vintage books... I think this is a great idea. I might copy you.

Ladies - I know this is a Hail Mary attempt - but I'm going to try anyway! I just realized yesterday (3 years later ) that I missed out on the Jasmine Jones 2016 gray Merry Merry album. Over on FB, I asked about it in the DD group and was told it sold out super fast, which explains my dilemma. Anyway!! If anyone has an unused/unloved/unwanted gray Merry Merry Album that you would part with, please, please let me know !!!

sleepingbooty did you use a template for the mood board layout? Or did you build it yourself? It's really lovely!

sleepingbooty did you use a template for the mood board layout? Or did you build it yourself? It's really lovely! Started with a "naked" template (not one of those that comes with embellished/finished elements) to get rid of the photo layer creation work (my lazy streak). Changed things up to fit my needs and then started playing with my digital papers, mixed media, DD kit elements, etc. ETA: The distressed gold paint in the corners was made using these vectors from Creative Market that are on their final freebie day today! Grab them quickly if you're interested.

But am not sure how much will actually end up in NZ as we have no Ikea stores yet. One is supposedly opening in the near future but goodness knows when. Fingers crossed for you! I did see they already have the NZ social media accounts and ikea.co.nz website up and running so that seems to indicate they're actually in the proper planning stages to open in your country. I know that IKEA backed out of opening in some countries over the past decade and they didn't have a national website or social media running for those (like Brazil). Can you shop from the Australian IKEA website?

sleepingbooty there are IKEA resellers in NZ but we can’t shop from the Australian IKEA website. And what’s sold here is mostly furniture and regular kitchen stuff not seasonal products. Maybe I might have to arrange a weekend getaway to Sydney or Melbourne to stock up!

Jennifer McGuire has a new video up called 'Embellished Window' technique which would be perfect for DD - using laminator pouches with glitter, sequins, embossing powder etc inside to create sparkly and snowy looking clear pages. Might give it a go to create my own transparency equivalent. www.youtube.com/watch?v=op6PI5KpARw

Shimelle is talking in some detail about her Christmas in a Box kit on her Fbk Live today (Monday Sept 16 for people reading from the future), starting around the 14:00 mark I think (not sure if this link will work but hopefully, and btw you don't need to use Fbk to watch www.facebook.com/glittershim/videos/520814152004252/ ) I recall she had problems last year with it being delayed, but hoprefully things will run smoother this year. I think it might be an option for some Euro and UK Peas, and US too - I think she has someone ship kits from within the US. She talks about how the leftovers should integrate easily into regular stash - they may have festive elements but are not strictly Christmas supplies. I haven't seen her kits to know if they're good value but I generally trust her so I'd assume they should be. Just thought I'd mention it as an option to add to the list ETA: probably about $50 she'll be listing the Christmas in a Box this week (hopefully) kits ship from UK and US, stamps all ship from her Oz/Nz and the rest of the world she recommends buying the stamps from her and then sourcing the other parts of the kit you like locally because shipping costs are killer

Might give it a go to create my own transparency equivalent. www.youtube.com/watch?v=op6PI5KpARwThat's fun! I will have to see if I got rid of all the bits and bobs from Christmases gone by that I could do that with - I think I saved the iridescent snowflakes, which will be perfect. I'll definitely try making some into cards, and I think I might do some batty ones for Halloween. The technique is a great idea for easy transparent page elements. It would be easy to cut some down into 3x4s or 2x2s to fill some pockets. I don't watch her videos much these days because they make me want to shop more than craft so I appreciate getting a heads-up when one is worth the risk of temptation! I'm going to pretend I didn't see all those cute Mama Elephant stamps.

I have adhesive ‘laminator’ pouches here and you reminded me that a few years back I made clear pocket cards with sequins and stuff in them.. they’d look awesome as a 6x8 divider. Thanks!

Refresh my memory - wasn't there a website last year that someone linked that had a ton of colors of vellum? It came in individual colors as well as in a set of colors you could get in a pack.

A list of album sizes for Ali's DT I think it's interesting that only one person is doing 3x8.

A list of album sizes for Ali's DT I think it's interesting that only one person is doing 3x8. I feel there might be some pressure on the last deciders to do 3x8 now... Although Ingunn and Jess Forster will be using the size for their back-in-time December albums so? Kelly Ishmael has amazing and oh-so-delicate photos so I'll be keeping an eye on her DD project as usual. On a more selfish note, I kind of want to see her photography paired with something a little more dreamy than Ali products. Her photos + Vanessa Perry's handlettering and minimalist watercolour designs would've made a perfect pair. But whatever rocks her boat (plus, Vanessa has stopped designing ). joblackford Thanks so much for reminding me about Shimelle's Christmas in a Box kit! I added it to the OP. anniefb Lovely (and super simple for once) JM technique! Thank you for linking us up. Now, if only I had a laminator...
