Ok I just have to ask.... For the first time ever (pregnancy does NOT count and is NOT possible) - I'm SIX DAYS LATE!!! I've been tracking for 3 or 4 years now. And lately it has been 22, 26, 28, 25, kind of spread. Early, but never late. I'm on day 32 now.... I know it's not the end - but it sure is the start of the end!! For me about two years ago my periods started getting weird (I'm 51).. it was like a war zone one month and then nothing the next. It was not regular either. This went on for almost a year or year and half (granted I am not good at tracking) but I haven't had a period since (I think) January. Talked to doctor a few weeks ago and she said you have to wait an entire year before you are cleared.. no more periods. So I am 'almost' there. Praying that I am!! Mine were more like a war zone every three weeks (eek). Then nothing for months, then just as I thought I was good, BAM! This went on for almost three years until I hit a year with nothing. It's been four years now so I think I'm good finally!

WHAT?!?!? So not only are things starting to droop, but they may start falling OUT? What the hell is right!!!!! And then you have the tissue surrounding your delicate girl parts atrophying, leaving certain things feeling unprotected and sensitive.

Yes, I did do that! I had to take 4 dulcolax at noon. They gave me stomach cramps and made me a little dizzy. But nothing too bad. My drink is 64 oz Gatorade mixed with Miralax. It just tastes like orange drink so no biggie there. But... its hard to drink that much liquid on an empty stomach. Although, I will say the Dulcolax had me a little queasy and that seemed to stop when I started the Gatorade. I am almost done with the drink now and mentally that was my biggest challenge! As far as "bathroom" issues, not too bad at all. After each 8oz. I go and its over. I do think it is because I ate light a few days before. So far so good! That drink doesn’t *sound* too bad on its face. I have a huge container of some lemon lime stuff that I have to add water to. I’m so not looking forward to it.
Gosh, I would take the Miralax and Dulcolax over the NASTY cherry flavored Suprep any day. How I managed not to throw up is beyond me... actually, it was probably due to the fear of having to prep all over again that forced me to keep it all down.

I'll be celebrating my 53rd birthday at Disneyland with DH and my kids in 2 weeks. I'll grow up kicking and screaming, and following along with y'all.

51 in November. I'm in. Can we talk about the exam that I had NO idea has to happen at the yearly gyn when you turn 50? ?
What's this? I go next week for my yearly appointment. I may need to cancel. So even if you have a colonoscopy, they will do a rectal exam. They send any "sample" they get to the lab for analysis for blood which can be an indicator for colon cancer and other issues. It's like what that Cologuard test does. I asked the doctor if this was a new thing and she said "nope, it has been in practice for the 15 years I have bee practicing". UGH! She didn't do it bc I have my colonoscopy (which I have cancelled 3 times this year) in a couple weeks.

My last Dr was very thorough, and never did anything like that. She did do a rectal every pap, but definitely not every yr. and never ever took a sample! yikes.

Mine didn't take samples, but I was surprised the first time it was performed because I wasn't given any warning. Imagine lying there and all of a sudden...

Imagine lying there and all of a sudden... that WOULD be a HUGE surprise! and not a GOOD one!! I get a rectal exam every year when I go for my oncology checkup (so they can feel for things from a different angle, I guess...) so I know to expect them now-- and they're pretty good about telling you what they're going to do ahead of time. But I've definitely been putting off the colonoscopy. My older sister had VERY bad case of colitis a few years ago and had at least 3 or 4 colonoscopies before they finally figured out what was going on, so she's a pro at them now. I know they give you the drugs so you don't really remember much of anything, and that I should bite the bullet and do it, but still... Can we talk about having to pee seemingly every 5 minutes? (probably a by-product of having had a total hysterectomy...). I don't have to go... then,...I have to go but I think I can wait... and then *bam* I need to find a restroom-- ASAP. It's annoying!!! My DH knows by now that the first thing I do when I get home from ANYWHERE is go to the bathroom- After that, THEN I'll say Hi to him and the dogs. lol.

Of course I don't remember a thing other than lying on the table and getting the IV meds. One reaction I did have though was to the oxygen. I kept sneezing and having a runny nose for about 3 days straight. I've gotta remember to mention that to the doctors the next time.

I think at the annual checkup my dr has to use her fingers rectally to get a good feel of the ovaries. It’s just a few seconds, and ovarian cancer is usually detected too late, so I don’t mind this at all.
Don’t even get me started on the frequency and sudden urgency to pee...

My bladder rules my life! After my prolapse surgery it seemed to be worse. I ended up having a urodynamics test (so embarrassing) which showed I do have a very small bladder and it spasms a lot, making it feel like I have to pee. But I can literally pee any time, even within 5 minutes of going. I typically have a 1-hour bladder which is so annoying - road trips suck, hiking, boating....anything not near a restroom sucks. For instance, last night my sleep log shows 5 hours and 24 minutes of sleep. I was up to use the restroom 6 times! Thankfully I fall back to sleep instantly. I've tried all the overactive bladder medications and they didn't help at all. The other option the urologist suggested was Botox to paralyze my bladder, but there's a good chance I'd have to catheterize myself for a few months. And before insurance covers it I'd have to go to physical therapy to strengthen my pelvic floor. No, just no. I'll live my life near restrooms.

About the needing to pee every hour thing...I discovered something that may help... I started taking a fiber supplement about three weeks ago to help with weight management and constipation. Low and behold my ankles no longer swell and I'm not needing to pee every hour. I talked to my doctor about it today. She said the fiber supplement sucks more water from other parts of the body to the colon to make pooping easier. I'm sitting there with a dumbfounded look on my face and my doctor started laughing at me (we are also friends outside the office) that something so simple as a small bowl of All Bran or a single Metamucil capsule could solve three very irritating problems so quickly and easily! I'm a bit more gassy, but at least I'm not running to the toilet hoping I don't pee on myself and I have ankles again! I still do my kegel exercise everyday though.

I was taking Metamucil (capsule form) for the first four weeks but the psyllium husks are way too hard on my system. Right now I am trying Fiber One cereal to see how that works. Two days in and so far so good.

I'll be 52 in a week and this sounds like a fantastic idea. It's strange because on one hand, I'm the happiest I've ever been...I'm in a relationship with my high school crush for almost 2 years and having the best sex of my life! I'm financially secure. I'm in pretty good shape for an old girl. The only thing that I constantly worry about is will my 17 year-old girl mature into a productive member of society? She's anxiety ridden from loss of her dad (my husband died years ago), she also was adopted when she was 1 years old so she has that baggage, always telling me she has something wrong physically with her. She did graduate from school, she knows what she wants to do (requires certifications not degree). Right now she's working her first job at a grocery store. She seems to be doing so much better now than last year but I worry about her rest of the life. Will she be responsible with money? Will she ever learn to fucking clean w/o someone to nag her? I'm really ready for empty nest but worry that I'll never stop worrying about her and then she'll be back home b/c she couldn't make it on her own.
So basically, I'd be really enjoying my life where in not for the constant worry about my kid1

I blame that on my kids though. They did make me a paper crown with the name "Pee Queen" on it after one long car trip where I made them stop every few hours.

I feel like I should always carry a pad or tampon around with me just in case...

I want to post that I’m in—but I’m not sure if I already posted to this thread. Can we talk about memory issues? I’m a complete pro at this, many things can help you function better with memory loss. Occupational therapy had me start lumosity an app to help. And many things on the phone, note app, alarm apps, timer apps etc.

Oh golly....I have postponed my colonoscopy (as I see someone else has below) because I just couldn't deal with ONE MORE THING. I'm not so great at adulting (ok, I really mean I don't like being responsible for EVERYTHING)...kids keeping me hopping, my recent T2D diagnosis, selling my parents house....I'll get it in there, but right now I need a car (after the house sells) as my husband is using mine. Life...just keeps happening!

I'm having that thing where I wake up in the middle of the night, overheated and sweaty, then can't get back to sleep after cooling off.
Thankfully I can nap in the daytime.
But yeah, it comes and goes. I will sleep fine for a couple of months, then this hits for a week or two.

He was very thorough since my paternal grandmother had colon cancer. I still do the Cologuard cards along with regular colonscopies. I'm used to it (except that I have stomach issues, so the prep has landed me in the ER many, many times!!!!!!!!!)
