I’ll be 55 in October and lately, I feel like shit. I have a cracked heel on my left foot that’s killing me when I walk. I used my little cheese grater thingy but nothing is getting rid of it permanently. I also did some work at my computer today and sat for a little too long and now my back is killing me. I need to lose a 100 pounds but right now, I just don’t give a shit. 😞 I have a suggestion that might help you on your heel.. I swear by it.. It's Bag Balm (in the green tin can)(it was originally made for cows udders).. if you put that on your heels that should help you a lot.. When my heels start getting cracked I put that on and a pair of cotton socks and usually within 2 days my feet are 100% better. Might take longer if it is severe..

59 here. Physically I'm in pretty good shape. I've still got migraines but I've had those for the past 39 years so to me now they are just part of my life-I've gotten used to them, how to deal with them, etc. This makes me sad. I’ve had migraines since I was 11. I read that for a majority of people, migraines stop in the mid-fifties. This is the one thing that made me look forward to aging! I asked my dad a few years ago about his migraines (he’s 87), and he said he hadn’t had one in about 20 years. I'm 59 too and still get migraines, but they've changed. Before I could never figure out what set them off and they were intense -- horrible auras, nausea, and then excruciating pain. Now, they are mostly set off by light -- glare or flourescents usually and are much less intense.

I am 50 and I always say that I feel 35. My youngest children are 12 and 9, so I hang out a lot with other moms who are younger and I think that helps me feel young! I am healthy and somewhat fit (still working on it!) so that helps too.
In February I noticed some wrinkles appeared very suddenly under my eyes. I was not too happy about it! I had been doing some pretty restricted dieting and I thought maybe it was caused by lack of nutrients, but when I pointed the wrinkles out to my mom, she suggested it was probably caused by the weight loss. Can't win in that department!

I became a grandma for the first time this year (March 31) Congratulations!!
I am, however, getting "forgetful"...the whole walking into a room and not remembering what I came in for. That is a bit annoying and reminds me I'm not as young as I feel Me last week. Go to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to get closet organizer and look for storage containers. Buy organizer, put in car. Realize I need to pee. Hope I can wait until I get to Meijer as I'm not sure where the bathroom is in Whole Foods. I go to Whole Foods, get my things, lines at register and I see the bathroom. Push the trolley over and go use it. When I come out no line and I check out. Putting my bags in the car, see a white plastic shopping bag and wonder what it is and why I hadn't removed it the last time I went shopping. Brush it off as I'll deal with it at home. Go to Meijer, amazed that I don't have to pee anymore. Halfway through Meijer it did dawn on me that I went pee at WF which is why I didn't need to go and that the bag was from BBB. Talk about a face palm moment.
Happy Belated Birthday!!
Happy Belated Birthday!! I tend to see floaties more often and had that checked.. I thought my eyesight was getting worse. Nope, you get older you see floaties. Oh okay, never heard that before
What? I never heard that before. Great. I'm so excited...NOT.
I went to the dr. today (routine physical). First time ever, elevated LDL. My HDL was high too, but that doesn't stop the LDL from being bad if it's high. Also they registered hearing loss in both ears. And I get to start thyroid medicine. Huzzah!

I’m 56, some days I feel older because of the memory loss, balance issues and physical body changes and my scoliosis. Most days I feel younger because I’m healthy, I’m more active than I was when I was raising our kids, I have more friends, more hobbies and I’m busier having fun than I have ever been, doing things I enjoy.

I will be 53 next month and feel the same as I did in my 30s - once life settled and has been generally the same since. Any health issue I struggle with now, I've struggled with since my 20s so that doesn't change how I feel now. I have chronic pain from an autoimmune disease, but it comes and goes and I think I've dealt with it for so long that it doesn't really keep me down.
I've always been guessed to be younger than I am, and just last month I met a girl who thought I was 40. Could be because I have a 17 year old. But I definitely know my age is starting to show in my skin. I've had some weight loss lately and just general loss of muscle tone, so wrinkles are getting really pronounced and my skin is starting to bag around what used to be more toned muscle. I'm really noticing my whole mouth area looks saggy and old. I have a friend who is my age and who, in her own words, is fluffy. She is downright gorgeous with no wrinkles or sags in her face. Thin definitely shows age in the face more. I was in downward facing dog during yoga practice the other day and I was wearing yoga shorts instead of pants. OMG - the skin on my legs! It's a sight I can't unsee!
However, I also have less give-a-damn about it. We're supposed to age. We're not supposed to look like we're 20 when we're 50. And I truly love being in my 50s. I hope it shows!

I am mid 50's. Some days I feel younger. More energy, more get things done, more I need to go places and do more things, etc.. Because >> If not now, when?? Some days (usually humid, rainy days) I feel like every part of me aches which makes me lack ambition.
Stayed hydrated is essential for me. If I slack on my water intake, I feel sluggish and drained.

It's got worse in peri-menopause. It is definitely hormonal, so I'm optimistically looking forward to those disappearing along with the witch's visits.

I'm 52. Don't know how old I feel. Somewhere in the early to mid-40s, maybe? I had to have my driver's license photo retaken about 18 months ago and went to the DMV office downtown. It was very chill and not busy, so the man was chatty. I sat at his desk and we did all the paperwork and then he realized how old I was and very sincerely advised me that I look "a good 15 years younger." I figure he ought to know so I was like "YEAH!" I've always been like that, though. Genetics (my mom looked consistently 20 years younger), pretending I'm a vampire and avoiding any kind of smoking is what I attribute it to.

It’s HIIT (High intensity interval training) so an exercise program. @gar it’s a paid subscription but plenty of similar in YouTube to access. Where do you get the subscription from? I struggle in the winter to find things to do. I like to walk when its nice out I have been a member of tiffxo.com/commit for a couple of years and love it. Daily video workouts, meal plan (I only loosely follow), mindfulness and a great community. Very much based around a long term sustainable lifestyle rather than a quick fix. It is Australian based so while we have overseas members who are very welcome it can create issues with the meals as our seasonal produce is opposite to yours and so we would be eating winter meals while you would be wanting Summer. For workouts only it is still very good value.
Centr is another one that I've heard great reports about. Lots of different workouts to choose from. There are a lot of online type workout subscriptions, some are better than others so if they have a free trial it is worth doing that first.

I dislike talking about age as I hung out with the mom's of our 5th grade class on Sat. and they were moaning about getting a baseline mammogram at 36.

I'm 51. Last spring I felt in my early 40s. My blood sugar was doing well type 1 diabetic for 40 years). I was working with a trainer and was feeling good even though I was losing no weight.
Then within a few days of going on vacation to the UK I felt older and older. Usually on vacation I am just go, go GO!, but this time I really dragged. Since then my joints are all hurting and I have other things going on. It's all so weird.
Last week I gave up several things I have going on. Hopefully I will be able to get myself back together.

I think I'm going to look in to something for this winter, when we are stuck inside. I hate winter, and hate being outside. So I will NOT be walking outside. The only other one I've heard about is the beachbody one. I should start another thread and ask about other ex subscriptions.

My grandmother's did and she told me I wouldn't have them anymore after menopause so I too was really looking forward to that. I got my first one at 20. Instead mine got worse 2 years ago-they turned chronic. But don't worry-that doesn't mean yours will turn chronic after menopause! It's so individual. I'm just incredibly thankful we now have both medications and that I now have medical marijuana that is legal in my state to turn to for relief. Of course I'd be happy as a plum if they stopped entirely but looking at the big picture it could be a lot worse so I count my blessings.

I feel like I’m still 40ish. It helps that I have a 13 year old and a 16 year old who are both girls. They keep me young and on my toes!

Blood sugar is so so. I can tell whatever is going on is affecting them.

I normally feel like I'm in my early 30's vs. My reality of being 59 in 3 months.
I'm with you, Cindy. I often gasp when I say how old I am. For some reason I don't even think of my age in years anymore. I'm in overall very good health, so that I helps. I've never smoked or ever even tried drugs. I don't even drink coffee or have caffeine. After I turned 40 and I was at my most unhealthy (being very heavy and feeling very old), i changed my life and I'm always looking to tweak it to make me more healthy. I'm very proactive about my health.
My only downfall is my pain level & endless surgeries with that, but I try to remain positive, always.

I felt much younger than I am until I had shingles and developed post herpetic neuralgia two years ago. Now, there are days that I feel older than my 56 years. The MS and the Muscular Dystrophy haven’t slowed me down as much as this has. Humph.

I'm currently 51 (Fall birthday...). Most of the time I feel younger than I am, and I do hear sometimes that people are surprised at my real age. I think I look somewhat younger, for the most part. Maybe it's the Retin A, LOL.
It's challenging to look in the mirror and see the saggy chin skin and chicken neck. I've got spider veins in my legs, and my hands are definitely reflective of my age. And then there's the belly....These subtle, over-time changes are the hardest part of aging, for me. Though I think I look pretty good, all things considered (and have been losing some weight recently, woo hoo!) looking in the mirror and seeing a vision that doesn't match how I feel inside is just plain tough some days.

I will be closing in on 55 in a couple months...yikes!! I feel like I am still 40ish. Besides needing to wear readers to see anything up close and sciatic issues that come and go, I feel pretty good. Our last kid <------ is in college and we have the empty nest thing. It's a bout 50/50 for me..sometimes I love it, sometimes I am lonely.
Some people are shocked to know I have a 30 year old son. Sometimes they mistake us for husband and wife. That does NOT make him happy!! "That's my mom, dude!" 5 years ago I spent a month traveling internationally with my (now 29 YO) son. Everyone thought he was my boy toy. It was funny..and super embarrassing. For both of us! Ever since then, I swear, every time I visit or he's in town he makes sure to put the word Mom strategically into sentences when we're in public.

I have a cracked heel on my left foot that’s killing me when I walk. I've dealt with cracked heels for years. To make walking better, I swear by putting Compeeds over the crack and leaving it for 2-3 days. (The Walgreen's brand also works well.) It makes it easy to walk, as well as heals the crack. Going barefoot or wearing sandals/flip flops all summer seems to result in more cracks for me. This year I've tried wearing socks around the house and it has helped. It also helps to moisturize your feet every night at bedtime and put on socks, which I'm always forgetting to do. I like the Kiehl's Intensive Healing cream, but honestly, I've had success just using Vaseline and socks. It's the consistency of actually using the cream nightly that does the trick.

Jumping in here, turned 50 this past January. I had been all prepared to delay my colonoscopy but I had low iron so I was strongly encouraged to get it ASAP. Had it about a month ago, the prep was awful, the procedure just fine. They removed two polyps so it is a 5 year vs. 10 year return for me.
Other than that, mentally I feel much younger. I need to lose weight and I'm sure I'll feel better just for doing that. No other big signs other than I should probably get my eyes checked. After coloring my hair for 15+ years, I've decided to go grey.
Content with 50s so far!

Well damn - the late streak has ended. AF came last night just before I went to bed.
But the positive from that is that if it goes back to 28 days for the next one it will be all over before we go on our holidays!

I am 52 but sometimes my body feels like 90, old, decrepit, and fragile, while I have the mind of a 13 year old boy, no sense, no caution, and foolish. So much of me is affected by a medical crisis I had seven years ago.
Im just so tired, feel so beaten down, and can no longer envision a future. If it’s not one thing, it’s another, I get slammed every which way I turn it seems.

I'm 53 and probably feel about 40. My lifestyle is that of a 25 year old. I never got married, never had kids. I still go out all of the time and pretty much do whatever I feel like doing. I wanted to have a husband and kids, it just didn't happen. So I'm a little sad about that but I do enjoy the perks of having very little commitments.
The only reason I feel a bit older than that is because I have a lot better perspective on life than I did when I was young. I'm more content with myself and I'm better able to navigate the ups and downs of life. I used to be really uptight but now I'm pretty flexible with situations.
Physically I don't have a lot of problems. I'm overweight and that bothers me a lot. I drink too much beer. Besides that I'm pretty healthy.
People never guess how old I am- they usually think early 40s. I'm really lucky about that. I have no gray hair, which is kind of crazy at my age. I don't have wrinkles. I credit that to never smoking, staying out of the sun, and most importantly, having good genes. My mother never had wrinkles and my father is 80 and doesn't have any.
