I have about 2 weeks until 55. I feel maybe 40ish. Some days I am definitely more in my 30s. I am in a group of OTF devotees, all in my profession. I posted a photo and a blurb not too long ago and several were shocked I was turning 55. They would have guessed maybe 35. Of course, they couldn't see the bags under my eyes which I think reveal my age the most. I do actually need reading glasses in certain situations now. Low light in a restaurant is horrible. I have glasses for distance now too and really need bifocals or progressives or whatever the thing is today. I recently experienced a textbook mid-50's issue. My position of 15 years was essentially eliminated. Yes, I am a physician and happened to me too, thanks to the corporatization of medicine. Fortunately, I just signed a letter of intent for a far better position with actual benefits in an environment where people seem to really enjoy what they do. So, it all worked out but it was a bit scary for a while, wondering who would hire a middle aged physician. Would we need to move? The whole fear of starting over again was really getting to me.... much less now because of where I am going.

Well damn - the late streak has ended. AF came last night just before I went to bed. But the positive from that is that if it goes back to 28 days for the next one it will be all over before we go on our holidays! I’m 52 and have gone as long as 3 months without a period a couple of times in the last few years. My SO and I go south in the winter and I have absolutely no predictability for for my period now as I am now so irregular. I borrow a pack of BCP from one of my DDs so I can ensure a period free beach vacation 😳😜 ETA...I probably shouldn’t have posted this right after Melissa 😉

Well, I have always felt about 35 UNTIL the end of May when I started having health issues. I now feel about 70. I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis, disc degeneration, and osteoarthritis of the back. I am still trying to "feel better." I am seeing a neurosurgeon, and we may be considering surgery. I am trying to avoid it as long as possible because I know it's in my future. Oh, and BTW, I turned 54 a week after all of this started. 54 sucks!

That really sucks and certainly seems surprising for a physician. Happened to my hubby too at 56. He is an electrical and computer engineer (CIO of a fortune 500 company). I told him to dream because we don't want to move either, and to continue where he was we would have to move. So he dreamed, and he wants to now be a police officer now like our daughter. He was hired by a Sheriff's department and is in the academy now. He is "smokin'" all the young ones. He has done the most push ups and gotten the best physical scores of the entire class! Go 50's! Yes, I know he is a man but still proud!

My mind is in it's 30s. My body is in it's 90s. I have been ill for a long time, but my mind still feels young. I have lots of creative energy, but no real energy. Thank you cindyupnorth for connecting all of us. What a cool idea.

I went to go see one of my old students on Broadway last week. She was amazing. I had to laugh when she offered to take me on a backstage tour with several narrow sets of steps. She asked if my knees would be okay. I told her I was good. About midway through the tour, she looked at me and said, "Wow, you were probably younger than me now when you had me in class." Ha, I had to laugh, yes, I was 21 when when I had her in class and she is now 38. It is funny how old we think our teachers were.

Actual age: mid 50's Feel like I'm still in my 40's. Sometimes though I see a new line, some sagging skin or more gray and feel the weight of age on me. Mostly though I'm happy with my appearance and activity level for my age.

My prev Dr came to our hospital at around 55. I had her as my dr for 10 yrs, and she retired this yr. I miss her. She was a great Dr. which I am sure you are too, and you won't have a problem getting a new set of pts in no time.

I am 52 but sometimes my body feels like 90, old, decrepit, and fragile, while I have the mind of a 13 year old boy, no sense, no caution, and foolish. So much of me is affected by a medical crisis I had seven years ago. Im just so tired, feel so beaten down, and can no longer envision a future. If it’s not one thing, it’s another, I get slammed every which way I turn it seems. I'm so sorry. You need someone to talk to. Are you under a physician's care?

This is a fantastic idea! I just turned 54 but I feel much younger. Just today, someone at Rite Aid called me a young lady. I said thank you and that I appreciated the kind words. The guy then said that I look and act young so he figured it was appropriate. Even one guy at the bakery said that I always seem like I’m in a good mood. Far from it but I try to act the part anyway.

I’m 48 and feel anywhere from 18-90 depending on the day 😄. I work with kids, so that helps keep me young for the most part, but they really are little energy suckers sometimes! I look younger than I am, but I’ve taken to telling people that I’m 60, and then they tell me how awesome I look for my age 😝. Unfortunately, I can never keep a straight face, and always end up telling the truth ...

I am 50 and I have no idea how old I feel and that seems like a moving target given the time of day or circumstance. Hopefully you all will help me feel young more often than not!

Just turned 50 and have been period free for 7 months! I love it! No more horrible monthly IBS issues or crazy mood swings. Gone. But I started getting heat flushes last year and always have to have my fan blowing on me while I sleep even if it's cool. Recently I responded to an author that just released a book about her menopause experience. She claims she relates and identifies more with the experience of men on hormones who are transitioning than with women. I don't think she cared hearing that my experience has been positive so far. I really hope to make my period free for a year milestone.

I have a few chronic medical conditions that require regular medical care.

I am 55 and most days I feel more like low to mid 40s. Many of my friends are that age. This is mostly because I had kids late. Some days my age gets me! Also, no one, and I mean no one puts me at 55!
