I'm currently swearing over the first square sitting in the doctors office LOL I have to go pick up my son after, then when he goes to bed it's back to it! I somehow added 1 extra stitch to 2 sides of my first go round, so it was 3 dc, 4 dc, 3 dc, and 4 dc. 🤦♀️ I kept going, knowing I would have to rip it out, but just trying to make sense of things. Will start fresh tonight! One of the things I struggled with when I started to crochet was where to stitch into the row before. When crocheting in the round, and you are stitching directly into a stitch, you want to place your hook into the loop to-the-right/just-before the stitch below and not in the loop to the left (if there is one). I think it is easy to get off in the center cluster if you stitch in both sides (it gives you 1 too many stitches in the cluster above). Here is a photo that explains what I am trying to say - I hope! Let me know if this makes sense. I could hug you!! It helps SO much seeing a close up of the square. Thank you!!!! Kiddo goes to bed in about 3 hours. As soon as he is in bed I'm trying again. Thank you!!!!!

Great visual elaine. Sometimes when I’m stuck I count backwards from the corner and see if it makes more sense!

teri what kind of fabric is the blazer made from? I think my favorite is the G&G Crimson dress. it is a refined ponte from JoAnn fabric. It is velvet soft. It's pretty thick and sooooo soft

I'm working on the Augusta shawl -- a crochet pattern from Manos del Uruguay. Instead of the yarn named in the pattern, I'm using a Scheepjes Whirl in the Dandelion Munchies colorway. The pattern is free: Augusta shawl. That colorway on this project is going to be great. It's so pretty.

I've got one square done. It's the other one. I used a 3.25 mm hook and I got it down to 16.5 cm.

Here are my 2 squares- they are both approx 15.5 - 15.75 cm. Now to make 3 more of each. Then I’ll block them. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask away!

Okay... its bedtime. Bronchitis and a sinus infection means stupid early to bed! Worked on this for about an hour. In that hour I was also switching laundry around and letting the dog in and out. And in and out... I'm pleased with it so far though. With the help of elaine I straightened myself out on a few things. May not look like much for an hour, but it's going a lot quicker for me now! If there is anything that looks wrong, please don't hesitate to let me know! Night all 😁

tyra I love that you have jumped in with both feet on this project given you are so new to crocheting. That you are attempting new tricks with bronchitis and a sinus infection has raised you to Super Girl level. Way to go.

Just another day in the life of a toddler mom lol If I don't have something crafty to do I go nuts. Normally its stamping or mixed media. Love that crocheting is something that doesn't require me to get half of my studio out to do, and cleanup is a lot easier!! 🤣

With little kids in the house, I needed something I could quickly pick up and then put aside when chaos broke out.

I still love to scrapbook but I always feel like I need a full day to justify the mess. Crochet I can just do an hour here and there. So I agree with you guys on that.

jennyap join us! This is going to be a pretty blanket. I really really can't - at least not yet. I have *three* blanket WIPs alone, not to mention 2 scarves, a wrap, a cushion cover and more, and I really want to start - and preferably finish! - my planned cardigan before we get too far into autumn. One day!

Sometimes I like to make things just to make things (does that make sense?)! Yes I do the same. Or I will make something fully intending to keep it but it just doesn't wow me the way I thought it might. The Daisy wrap...eh? I like it. I enjoyed making it. But I feel it's too small for a bigger woman like me. I'm working on being a smaller woman but I'm debating sending it off to my BFF from college.

Sometimes I like to make things just to make things (does that make sense?)! Totally. I rarely make things now with a recipient in mind. I make things now because I want to, it’s the creating that I enjoy.

elaine & tyra did you pay attention to the colors? Because I didn't. Lol! Yes. I pulled out the color chart before starting yesterday. The two squares I posted above are the colorway called for. But, it truly doesn’t matter which pattern you use for each color - as long as you end up with the correct total number of squares when it is all done. People who are using their own yarn are going to be making the same sized blanket, but with fewer different patterns of squares. (which was a bad idea to begin with - everyone should have full access to all the patterns, especially since the yarn packs sold out and different colors had to be substituted with. They made plenty of money and would have even if the full pattern was made available).

I just figured since I did my tension square in pink I would just continue with the pink. Haha...
I agree with you, though, that I think they should have released all the patterns. If they were worried about money they could have attached a fee to them.
