Just curious---what do you keep on hand for the cold/flu season?? I want to have a stash here so if I get sick, I don't have to leave the house.
Here's all I came up with Nyquil Ginger Ale Frozen juice.

Sudafed or other decongestant of choice. Extra tissues. A nasal spray (one per person--don't share them).

when I feel sick, I don't want to eat regular food, so I would have canned chicken noodle soup (Campbell's Homestyle is my soup of choice); canned peaches, applesauce, or something else; saltine crackers and Ritz crackers, etc. And my 'sick' drink of choice is Diet Sprite.
eta: my cold/flu medication of choice is TheraFlu; the kind you dissolve in hot water and drink as a hot tea-- especially the nighttime version.

I try to support my wellness as a first measure before I get sick. Daily Elderberry syrup during the colder seasons. Adequate rest. Hand washing.
If I get a cold- Echinacea tea, Traditional Medicines Throat Soothe, Saje Wellness Echinacea spray and Fishermen's friends. I usually have homemade broth in the fridge. If I have a fever-Advil.
I try to keep it as natural as possible. I used to take Tylenol Sinus but I wondered why I had heart palpitations periodically. I started to suspect the TS. I stopped taking it when I'm congested and never had a heart palpitation again.

For me, it would be ginger ale, tissues, vapor rub, and saline nasal spray. My husband would add NyQuil.
My "sick food" is grilled cheese. Classic white bread with a good cheddar toasted in lots of butter.

I always have honey, lemons and orange juice in the house.
Throat lozenges, daytime & nighttime cold meds, tissues and a thermometer round out the cold/flu supplies.
I use a neti pot pretty faithfully and haven't had a sinus infection or bad cold for about 8 years but can't convince the rest of the family to give it a try.

Thought of a couple more Chicken stock Honey You’ll want some plain saline nasal spray too because the Flonase is really more for allergy congestion than illness IMO. We like the aerosol Arm & Hammer kind best because the can is internally pressurized vs. the squeeze bottles that can suck the nasty from inside your nose back into the bottle, ugh. Costco sells it in a three pack which is very convenient so each of us can have our own can. Plus it’s easier for kids to use. I would add pineapple juice for a sore throat (or apple juice and honey, that works too) a cool mist humidifier for your bedroom zinc supplements Sucrets analgesic throat lozenges, I like them better than the spray stuff which is hard for me to aim at the back of my throat.

Buckley's (Canada). The syrup tastes horrible (& this is part of their advertising but it works great) and now they have liquid gels.
We can also get cough syrup with codeine OTC, without a script also Tylenol #1, without script. The cheapest place is Costco.
Soft tissues (Puff's with lotion) Frozen peach slices Ginger-ale Saltine's Homemade chicken soup (in freezer) Applesauce Sucrets neti-pot tea & honey

Yes, I realize this is from 4 years ago—-I bumped it because I’m wondering after the years of Covid if anyone has any additional things that they would add to their list of what they should have on hand. Last winter I was sick from the time I got Covid 1 December until the middle of February with ongoing sinus and bronchitis, etc.. I didn’t have stuff in the house so I had to send people to the store for me. If I was going to add one thing, it would be that Mrs. grasses chicken noodle soup that comes in a box. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Tylenol liquid and pill
Motrin liquid and pill
Tissues
Aquaphor
Cerave cream
Vaseline
Neosporin
Make sure humidifiers are good, and get fresh filters
Vicks vapor rub
Albuterol - make sure everyone has a new one for any asthma issues
Vegetable stock in freezer and boxer for soups/rice/stews
We don't use and can't use OTC cough meds or things like Dayquil or Nyquil due to allergies and or medical conditions.

Buy lemons on sale. Wash them then press and roll on the counter. Cut in half, squeeze then pour half of each one into an ice cube tray and freeze. After they freeze put into freezer bags. Buy local honey. When you have a cold or tickle in your throat a tablespoon of honey and a cube of lemon juice in hot water helps. Honey that is harvested in your area is real good for you.

These are all great suggestions. I did just recently buy local honey. I can’t take NyQuil or DayQuil or some others because of the antianxiety med that I’m on. So Tylenol and Excedrin works. I do need to make some broth and get it in the freezer.
