My MIL was always going to "Walmarts" and "K-Marts". She also liked going shopping with me at The Goodwill.

I don't have an Aldi. But I do say THE Home Depot. That's the name that is on the logo and on the receipt.

I shop at Aldis and Meijers and The Home Depot and donate my clothes to The Goodwill. I'm a midwesterner through and through. And I could give two snaps who it drives crazy.

I have admitted in the past to adding a “s” to some store names that just sound better with it. Not Walmart, but the one that comes to mind is Costco. I always say I am going to Costcos. Drives some people crazy. I also do not say The Home Depot.

*shrug* I don't shop at either one of those places, so I don't say those names at all.

I say Nordstrom*s*. I don’t say The Home Depot, just Home Depot. I don’t shop at Aldi.

I don’t as the s at the end, except for on Joann Fabrics because I just call it Joanns. I also do not say THE Home Depot. I don’t know why, I just never have.
My mom adds the s to Kroger. That’s the only one I’m aware of.

I don’t shop at Aldi so no. I just say Home Depot.
I add an S sometimes, like someone else said, when it sounds better. We have Fred Meyer, if I shorten it I call it Freddies. I also add an S to Joann but not Walmart or Costco. So it really depends on how it sounds/flows.

We don’t have Aldi so it wouldn’t be on my radar. However, local places grate on my nerves something fierce!!! It’s Nordstrom. NOT Nordstrom’s . No. And pike place market. NOT Pike’s Place. Ack. I’ve never heard someone say Costco’s. That’s really weird, too.

I intentionally add an S to drive people nuts...I like to fuck with people. Walmarts, Targets, Subways. For the same reason I'll ask what flavor candle you're burning. You either love me or you don't.

We have an Owen Beach and Wright Park here that people are constantly adding S's to. I guess if sounds like a name it's understandable. (Still bugs me... just a bit! ) Sometimes we say Home Despot or Office Despot, just because we think it's funny.

I don't shop at Aldi. My mom and my sister think it's awesome but I was underwhelmed. I never go unless they drag me when we're running around together. I thought it had an "S" but I never say it outloud so I guess it doesn't matter.
I don't shop at Home Depot but on the rare occasion that I say the name there is no "The" in it for me.

I must admit that myself and everyone I know says they are going to Tesco’s when shopping at Tesco, Marks and Spencer’s when shopping at Marks and Spencer! Not sure if it’s a British thing or if it’s just my family and friends! I didn’t know it was something that people found annoying!

We don't have Aldi in my region so I've never heard anyone refer to one. I have never heard anyone say The Home Depot. It would be weird if they did. I cringe when people say they are going to Paneras ....it's just Panera!

Neither one particularly bother me. I say Aldi and Home Depot. I don’t recall ever hearing someone put “the” in front of it.

I am guilty of adding the s on Aldi. I shall work on this. I will never add "the" in front of Home Depot, I don't care what their marketing folk say. I cringe when I hear WalmartS.
While we are on this--what about Smokey the bear mascot of the national park system? Smokey the Bear or Smokey Bear? He was Smokey THE Bear when I was introduced to him, so that is what I say. I understand that the parks dept has a campaign to remove "the" from the nomenclature. (Good luck with that for the old folks, I say.)

I used to say “the Costco” because there was only one on this end of town. Now there are two of them over this way so I just say Costco. And Home Depot does refer to itself as “The Home Depot” in their commercials all the time, so technically that one might be correct.
