I'll tell you what's sad. Remember back in March when they took two pieces of paper to give a specialty paper? And some they'd rather they take the cardstock and now, they've done it. Took two sheets of cardstock. For me that was what made me cancel my last sub and take the penalty. Two sheets of cardstock. This was what pushed me to hard feelings. That, and how no one addressed it. Not the company, nor the community.

I am just stunned that they still have kits for sale. I find it amusing how they are acting like they are being benevolent by extending the sale when we all know it is because they just haven't sold out yet. They can't exactly take them off sale and expect to sell them at full price. I got an offer this weekend to sub and get my first month for $1.00, that offer has been coming through almost since I cancelled. No other kit club has been having such offers, have they? Did they ever announce the "winners" of their illegal contest? definitely not buying anything on "sale" when shopping costs are so high.

Mine is Gossamer Blue's On My Desk collection. I was able to buy a couple of pieces at Simon Says Stamp but they didn't have the ephemera or the papers. It was all sold out before I even knew it existed. I had hoped that Gossamer Blue would restock but they never did. I've also tried to find it on Ebay with no luck, but there is lots and lots of gossamer blue clothing available! agree with this! I was really bummed after I'd spotted so many great projects online and it stayed sold out. I know someone is out there hoarding it!

everyone was always asking for more videos. I always saw that as a request/comment anytime SC asked for feedback. I think the video-heavy class format is entirely a result of that. I agree - but atleast in this class, even the videos don't really teach you anything. And then no pdf. No reall class discussions. I just don't think it has to be one or the other. A good combo of pdf and video would be nice. I agree with you entirely; I think it'd be nice if they could strike a good balance.

Me! Really hoping to finish off my week in the life album. I'm on Thursday and while my pictures are printed I just need to assemble and journal oh, you did all the hard part! I hate printing photos. All that's left is the fun stuff!

I feel the same way! I hate saying anything, because she seems so nice, but I wish someone had looked over the materials and asked her to provide more content in PDF form. But, the impression that I have is that I'm in the minority in wanting PDFs instead of videos - it seems like the trend is towards video-content heavy classes. (The Paige Evans stitching class and Paint.Plan.Play suffered from this, too, IMO.) I think all the classes seem to be going the BPC route with videos rather than downloadable PDFs, and the content is getting thinner as well. I've done a few classes now and apart from the Sketched Bundle which was such a good deal, wouldn't take any more. I prefer to save my pennies for someone like Ali. everyone was always asking for more videos. I always saw that as a request/comment anytime SC asked for feedback. I think the video-heavy class format is entirely a result of that.

I know! I have a large pinked circle, but often it is bigger than I want The Martha Stewart one is no longer made, but ... you can get the Tim Holtz one which is new: www.scrapbook.com/store/sz-660178.htmlI am considering this one. It is 1 1/8 th inches. If I could find it easily in Australia I would definitely get one. Thanks! I'm putting this in my shopping cart!

hi! Nice to see you over here. Nice to see you here, too! Although I wish it were under happier circumstances! (But it is reassuring to see that people I consider really positive and reasonable having the same qualms I'm having about SC - at least I know I'm not just being a diva! ?) not remotely diva-like. It's been rough over there.

The more I've been thinking about it, really contemplating good and hard, the more I realize how I like the SC kits less and less. FOMO is a really big sales tool for them. Things I was afraid of missing out on I've come to realize that I don't even like as much as I thought I would. Stamp sets, exclusive papers, small embellishments, they sit in my stash unused because it's not REALLY my style. It was just hyped up, and I got swept up in the frenzy. I loved the mix of products in the beginning, exclusives that COMPLEMENTED the rest of the kit. What they've put out recently just hasn't been my style. Too big, too graphic, too repetitive. It's definitely time to switch to something new and refreshing.

Hi! I'm foucaultgirl both here and at SC. I am waffling on if I want to cancel right now or wait until December to cancel my subs at SC. I *do* like their classes, generally (although the content seems MUCH less detailed this year than it was last year), and I generally love their products. I've been sporadically active on the boards since 2009, and have been a subscriber since 2010. I have found immense delight in and inspiration from the DT and community at Studio Calico. However, as both the kit contents and DT members seem to dwindle while the regulations about when products will be available grow more Byzantine and the penalties/terms of subscription become ore draconian, I feel that it's probably time for me to move on. Hopefully this thread will give me the push to go ahead and cancel. hi! Nice to see you over here.

This is the very first time in the 4 ish years I've been a subscriber that I've ever seen kits still available on clearance after this long.

If it makes you feel better, I doubt is someone from here. That thread was quite juvenile, doesn't seem like the SC Refupeas' style. Is the thread still there or is it gone? it's gone now. It wasn't anything to salacious, but you could tell it was troll-y.

If this is actually someone from here, which I sincerely hope it is not, let's not turn into SC trolls. We can vent and rant here, but let's not go over there all crazy and start ruining it for the folks who still enjoy themselves. It's getting hard enough to do that without that kind of help. If it makes you feel better, I doubt is someone from here. That thread was quite juvenile, doesn't seem like the SC Refupeas' style. It does make me feel better! It doesn't seem like anyone's style here, but I definitely want the annoyance to be directed solely at SC and not its disgruntled refupeas.

I just regaled my boyfriend on all the recent sc drama, and after listening attentively and being sympathetic, he responds, "now those are some first world problems. That's basic bitchness right there." Couldn't help but laugh at the truth.

I wonder why Ali doesn't open up a message board on her site. I know it's the same umbrella, but people would drop SC and go there, I think.
Although given how things at SC are going, she's probably smart not to.
I don't know how many people know about this place. I only just found out about it myself, and I like to think of myself as fairly active in the community.

I've hand stitched, and it's almost always a huge pain, but I love the result. Machine stitching is kinda tough on me too because my machine is so temperamental and old and curmudgeony. I love watercolors on layouts, but that can be a little bit of a pain as well.
Is it bad that I think it's all so very painful? Haha. Looks great, though!

Is it too late to report them to the FTC? Seriously, this latest fiasco is just crazy! If anyone has copies of the original posts they really should file a report. The thing with the kit names was when they named them after Sweet Valley High Books and TM character names. I can't remember the BS excuse they used on why they changed them after they posted them in reveal. ooh so that's what happened! I knew it was sweet valley high! It changed and I never knew why; I thought I was going crazy and had imagined it.

Regarding Ali Edwards......I just don't see her leaving SC. Do any of you? Nah. I don't see it, but it's entirely possible. She was with Technique Tuesday forever and then moved on, so she could feasibly do the same at SC

I think one of its biggest problems is trying to be both. Don't market yourself as a small business if you can't give it that kind of attention. SC used to be great at that, and gained a lot of devoted followers because of it. But they grew, and now they're no longer small (at least in this industry), so it would be wise for them to act like a big girl business and start making that separation. Honestly, if the message boards are giving them all these problems, they need to shut it down, or hire people (plural) whose job it is to moderate and actually address the customers. No more of this fingers-plugged-in-my-ears-lala-can't-hear-you stuff. Hire some folks to take up community responsibility, let the community know about it (because we're actually pretty good at self-policing and helping each other out), and let those hired people handle or redirect customer issues that shouldn't, but ultimately do anyway, wind up on the message board. And aside from that, truly, above and beyond everything else, pay attention. The devil is in the details, and they are just letting so much stuff get messed up, and it's really unprofessional and creates volumes more work to fix than to proof. The trust of your customer is so important. Do everything you can to KEEP it. Once it's gone, it's gone.

dude!! They did something recently like that. Right before NSD, they were super cool and sent me a box of stuff and in the box was written something like, "get someone you trust to video record you opening this up." So my boyfriend did, and there was a note along with some items that said something like "looking forward to NSD. Upload this video by xx date/time to be entered into a contest to win a subscription for a year". It didn't have any other instructions, really. So I did, and emailed the folks I had to email, and to this day have no friggen clue whatever happened to that video, that contest, who won it if anyone, nothing. I thought it was really weird! They never mentioned it at all on NSD, and it was very cool that they randomly sent me stuff, so it's not like I mind, but it's totally fitting with changing their minds about the contests and promos they have.

Creativity is often fueled by inspiration, and over at Studio Calico, I find that I can routinely, almost daily, find inspiration... to quit. From their mercurial business model right down to the practices of treating customers unfairly and like children (as exampled by committing them to write an essay) and all of the wackiness in between, I can draw inspiration to get as far removed from this company as I possibly can. A little short on word count but eh, it's just a topic sentence

There's no doubt in my mind that this thread is being monitored continuously by SC, and many other industry people. That is why the potentially illegal contest was halted. someone commented on their instagram alerting them of the illegality of their contest.
