Mariah Carey on NY Rockin Eve

Truth. Also not a Mariah fan, but she has to be able to hear herself and she asks them to turn on the monitors near the beginning of the video. (I did not watch it all.) Definitely technical difficulties.

While this was in no small part a technical issue, how she handled it says a lot (and not in a good way).

I know we all WANT to say age doesn't matter, dress however you want. I might get flamed for this, but lately she's been an example of someone who should consider her age, or body, along with garment choices.

She's as beautiful as ever, but isn't dressing to show that. Read the side comments here, people notice. I hope she feels good, to me it looks like she is having a little midlife crisis.

I'm glad I could have mine alone at home, without public comment. she is someone who wants to be in public.

I can't stand her but would love to see her on DWTS. I think it would be a reality check for her. Yeah, that's what she needs a reality check. Not a sound check.

I watched part of CNN's NYE countdown and it was painful.  I like CNN but it seemed that the news anchors were the entertainment.  I thought it was very unprofessional.  

1. Mariah thighs are too big for a jumpsuit, she should have had the skirt on the whole time.
2. I don't believe her excuses she probably arrived late to do a soundcheck, if the dancers could hear the music and queues, and could pick up on a "supposed" song not on the list for the night, then so could she, after 20 years in the biz she could have picked up.
3. If you watch the video on my link above I think she expected to lipsync Emotions but they put on the background track and she obviously couldn't sing. But when the next song came on she was able to lip sync (off queue) but quit twice during the song, so that shows me that she was just a mess because there's no excuse she couldn't bounce back then.

She embarrassed herself and hopefully they won't let her come back or pay her for it.

They both looked ridiculous.  

I'm surprised at the comments about her body. I think she has a nice figure and don't think she looks any worse in a bodysuit than Beynonce. However, I agree that she appears to be trying too hard with her clothing. In the last few weeks I have seen several pics of her and she is always showing way more cleavage than she needs to, particularly for the events (NYE was A slightly more appropriate event for the outfit than the other times I have seen her). I also think it is ridiculous to wear heels so high that you can't walk properly and without assistance.

I've only been able to watch snippets of the video from last night but it is clear that there were technical issues. I'm not a singer so I will take the word of those here who are, and give her the benefit of the doubt.

She's nothing but a diva and I've never understood what people see in her. She lip syncs all the time and acts like people should be glad to be in her presence! I bet secretly Nick Canon was laughing his ass off at her "performance".

I just watched her "performance" and that was bad. In that type of situation I think a lip sync is acceptable as long as the singer can still give a good show. She didn't even try. It looked worse than a really horrible practice run. Just bad.

So, if she was lip syncing anyway, why wouldn't you just do the dance routine with your dancers and say screw the lip syncing. Save some face for your self and do what you are there to do: entertain. In large crowds like that, we know they are lip syncing, it is no big secret.

I don't get the comments about how she was dressed either. Who cares??! All these singers dress like that. I don't think she looked any worse then anyone else. Its more about her singing/performance that's the issue. To me she just seems really out of touch. Like she has been cosseted,babysat, and pampered most of her life. Didn't she get married very very young, and basically has been taken care of, and given whatever she wants since then?

I read once that he said that she's surrounded by "yes men" staff who feed her ego so she has doesn't have any reality check. I saw him recently on his improv tour and the only thing negative he had to say about her was that he was tired of fake boobs and wants his next woman to have real ones.

I just watched JLo's NYE performance and I think both her and Mariah need to cover up their butts more. Yes JLO looks great, but she's 47 and these performances are shown to families on primetime television. 

Beyonce is 35 and had lipo on her legs so they aren't that big, just curvy. Mariah is 46 and at some point you do have to start dressing your age, her thighs looked more like Amber Rose. I'm saying this as someone who doesn't have flattering thighs myself, so I wouldn't get up there dressed like that either. You have to dress for your size and age and appropriate to the audience you are performing to.

For something shown on national TV, I think there were plenty checks and balances, I honestly don't believe what Mariah is trying to spin this as - not her fault.
