It all DOES seem weird, doesn't it, nylene. I commented on another thread that we are continually living three lives in our heads: the past, the present and the future. Scrapping kind of emphasizes that experience. As I scrap a page, I remember that event, think about that person and who they are as I plan and layout and glue down the elements on my page, but I also anticipate future opportunities to see those people, become part of their experience in some way, take their photos, and then get to relive THOSE experiences when I scrapbook them later... In this privileged world we have been living in: we can PLAN, we think we have POWER. When really, at any time, any thing can sweep that away... I told a farmer neighbour who phoned yesterday that the best thing to do is realize we have NO power over what is going to come. We just need to do what is best for ourselves and our families TODAY. I need to let go of my plans for early April. I had planned on keeping a surgical consultation appointment in Edmonton on the 1st and then continuing on to Calgary to hang out with my sons' families for a few days. Most years I see them in February or March, but have not been down there since mid December. I am assuming the dr appointment will be cancelled. My surgery is classed as elective, and the health system is cancelling all elective surgeries. And while I want--with my whole body--to see those guys in person I don't want to be "that old person" who ignores protocols for her own enjoyment. I was thinking that 14 days of staying at home may be all that was needed, but it now sounds like it will be much longer than that. Hoping all is well with all the Pokeys. Glad you were able to reclaim your space long enough to create again, Linda. And I LOVE that Sweetheart page, nylene. LisaDV, your stories about what sound like gourmet meals at your house sound wonderful. Bet my dh wishes he lived there instead of in this house where most of our meals are pretty basic. Whooo Hooo! I get to progress today to soft foods! He could easily eat some previously frozen "real meals" but has said that he will just eat whatever I am eating with a sandwich he fixes himself every once in awhile. Hoping all is well with patin, msliz, kitbop, joyfulnana, knutschen, justjac, woodysbetty and the rest of the Pokeys. Hope you have time to do a quick check in with us. This is not a time to lose touch with people we care about. ElayneF has closed her 2Peas account for personal reasons (not b/c o the Pokeys). I want to send her a card, and have her address if anyone else would like to send her one as well. Finished a two pager this morning. Ta DAAA! it is about SWIMMING! and am moving on to Ukrainian dance... TTYL.

Thanks for checking in grammadee. My spring break was really an Easter Break. We had no time scheduled off school until Good Friday. Last week my school said it would be shutting down for two weeks but staff would still have to come in. Monday we learned we are shutting down indefinitely and do not have to go in. I will be going in one day to photocopy some work for students. My gym, yoga studio, and weight loss meetings are all cancelled. I’m hunkering down at home. DH still has work. I’m hoping to take part in more online get togethers in the coming weeks.

LisaDV, thanks for checking on us. We definitely felt the quake 5.7 but it did no damage right around us. We have felt lots and lots of aftershocks but our water is still fine, our power is on and we are ok. We were getting ready to take our car in for a service. We thought they might want to cancel that, but they said to bring it in. Salt Lake has had damage and the airport has been closed because of flooding from a main water line break. All mass transportation, buses and trains have stopped for inspection of tracks, etc. We feel very fortunate. Our Utah County kids are all ok too. I will come back later to chat. I'm in the middle of making strawberry jam!

Wow things are changing everyday and all turmoil. I hate it! linda what did your decide about your appt? My Dr's office called yesterday to cancel my appt since it was non-essential. It had been rescheduled 3 times already because of work. I'm glad they made that decision, it was the right thing to do. nylene please keep yourself safe! It feels weird to me too. We aren't at the 'shelter in place' yet, but I still feel weird going out, because it's not allowed or something lol. I'm sorry you are missing our card club. Hopefully this will all be over, or we will have a better idea of how to handle it by fall. grammadee I'm sorry this is impacting your family in such big ways But so happy no one has been diagnosed! I have no idea what this will look like when/if? it ends. My niece FINALLY postponed the shower today. I kept hoping she would, but then I found out that my family doesn't pay attention to the news? We haven't had any changes really the last couple days. I feel like the governor is trying to keep businesses open for as long as he can so people can continue to work. I also expect to be in full lockdown soon. I'm so mad today. With all of this, I got a tax bill for $2000. Apparently Kansas City proper has 1% earnings tax. And I've been here for 5 years and never paid it. So I got a bill today for all the back taxes, and the penalties and interest. Due April 10th. I emailed about it, and the woman replied that they don't mail bills out for it. So I guess you are just supposed to know? I'm going to ask to have all the fees waived (fingers crossed on that) and ask them to wait until after this pandemic is over. My job isn't in jeopardy, but I don't really have any idea how this is all going to play out, so I don't want to spend anything I don't have to at the moment. LisaDV I've been opting for the quick easy meals as well and realized this morning I'm only eating meat and starches. no fruit or veg. I know we are to hunker down, but that doesn't mean eating MRE rations lol. I'm going to try to do better lol. I am so glad sleepingbooty is organizing another crop! I still don't have any mojo but I also don't have a little one around this weekend so I'm hoping to kickstart something. I'm kinda envious of the ones that are off work at home and just get to be home. Nothing much has changed for me like that. I'm still home all day working just like always lol. I hope everyone is doing well!

nylene - glad you're okay grammadee - looking forward to Ukrainian Dance layouts - the outfits are gorgeous justjac - hunkering down at home sounds about right - my DH is still working also. joyfulnana - I cancelled the appts and rescheduled for the summer. Yikes on the tax bill I ordered a Misfits produce box - hopefully that'll keep us eating more veggies - it's supposed to start next Thurs.

nylene, thanks for checking in. It looked like you were outside of the major zone, but then I thought you also had family there as well. Glad everyone is okay. Prayers for the area. Strawberry jam, forget social distancing, we’re coming to your house. My sister has a strawberry patch and puts up some each year. I think the Texas grands will be there during season this year, they love to pick them, but I don’t think she gets as much put up. Last year she was down there helping with the new baby during season. Linda, I used to buy GF flour on amazon. I usually buy direct from King Arthur or Bob’s Red Mill now. I prefer KA GF but BRM has my GF oats, GF polenta, and GF cornstarch. I spend more money up front, but it costs less per item than the stores. DD made GF scones yesterday. It was for an English project (Middle Earth foods – they’re reading The Hobbit). I totally get the not settling on anything. I definitely have to stop reading NSBR and the news for my mental health. I signed up for the Imperfect Foods box too. I already had produce for 2 weeks so I started mine next Friday. grammadee, I’m sorry you’ll have to cancel your consult and miss your family visit. We had a GI appointment cancel for DD (I was going to cancel it anyways), but it still stinks. I think it’s sweet he eats what you’re eating, well, if it’s out of solidarity and not out of laziness. How are you doing today? Yesterday was a fend for yourself food day here – I think a lot of ramen got eaten, so not gourmet all the time here. Did @elaynef post somewhere that she was shutting down her account? I’m sorry to hear this. justjac, I loved your green St. Patrick’s day dress. I think it was on IG. I’m glad you are hunkered down. Hopefully you can get some relaxing in, you are always so busy. joyfulnana, that is maddening about the tax bill!! I’m angry with you. Cleveland had that type of thing as well. Everything is the same here too, that’s what I tell DH, other than him being home, which does keep me from doing noisy type things like vacuuming. Everyone else is like, we have all this free time now let’s craft. I’m like I have the same laundry to do, more food to make, tests to administer, and house projects that are still not complete. Hoping all the pokeys are staying healthy.

LisaDV - I've been buying Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 from Amazon but it's an all-purpose flour and I'm not sure if it'll work best for breads - do you have a recommendation? Scones sound good - I might need to give those a try. We made fudge yesterday (using the recipe my granny taught me with some decades ago - it used to be on the Dominios 10x sugar boxes). Bad news on the house front - the buyer withdrew his offer - not because there was anything wrong with the house (they still love it) but because of teh uncertainty right now. He said if it was still available when things improve, they would still be interested. To be expected, I guess - not sure I would want to be buying right now either (and the buyer is an realtor himself) if I was worried about keeping my income stable and watching investments plummet.

LisaDV and Linda, can you get Robin Hood flour where you are? Or could you order it in? It is a Canadian brand, and when my dsil use to trek down to Arizona every winter, she always packed about 20 lbs of it in their motor home. They have gluten free flour that basically replicates results of regular flour. Really expensive for making big things like breads, but it does make shaped & rolled cookies, cakes, and biscuits and/or scones that are indistinguishable from those made with regular flour. kellyr21 how are you coping with California's new shelter in place regulations? Is Ron working from home or off work? Are you both healthy?

Linda, I'm so sorry the buyer backed out. I totally get it right now, but that doesn't help you and your sister. do you have a recommendation? I usually use whatever I have on hand. I will say that BRM 1-1 leaves all our baked goods "grittier". I don't know why. KA (whether it's the measure for measure, the all purpose or the baking mix) doesn't seem to do this. The plus to a 1-1 or measure to measure is you don't have to buy or keep xanthan gum as it's already part of the mix. I already have it from when I used to make my own mixes. There is a brand called Namaste. It was always well regarded when DD first went GF but I didn't have access to it at the time. I came across it in a local store last year and bought a bag. I totally see why it's well regarded, but it stank to high heaven. REEKED! With the other flours, you could eat the dough if you want to, with that one, no way you would want to. I haven't bought it since, just because of the smell, but I might again because of the flavor. I've heard that for the best yeast baking, you want to stick with a pure white rice flour (preferable superfine) blend with the starches (potato, arrowroot or corn, & tapioca). Since I'm either making my own or buying different ones, I don't know if I can tell a difference. Although the best GF flour tortillas is at Aldi's, believe it or not!! All the others crack horribly. Some DD wouldn't eat because of taste. The Aldi's ones have least amount of cracking I've ever seen and a good flavor too.

Linda, I'm sorry the sale fell through. It's understandable, but I hope this uncertainty gets better soon and he may buy it then. These are very weird times. grammadee, I'm sorry that your appt has been canceled. I know you'd like to have this over. I hope you will be able to see the grands another time. That's what I keep thinking about canceling Spring Break. FaceTime is marvelous. Have you heard any more about when DSIL will be able to be home? I hope that goes smoothly. Thanks for helping to set up another Crop. I saw the announcement last night and began pulling photos. Do we post in the Mega thread or the Team thread? I am sorry that @elaynef left the site. We will miss her. I have her address and will send a card. I hope everything is OK in her family. LisaDV, I have enough trouble just fixing meals with "regular" food and would go nuts with all kinds of allergy restrictions. I'm lucky that DH will eat anything. How is your DH feeling? I hope he can stay isolated. joyfulnana, I'm glad your niece postponed her shower. It just seems like the best thing to do with the danger of the virus. I am sorry about the tax bill. I think I would really fight that. We had something like that happen here and people were up in arms. They finally cut it in half and allowed people to make payments. We had little children then and it was a stuggle. Best wishes for a good outcome. justjac, I thinking hunkering down is the answer. I hope you can connect with your friends online. Yesterday's earthquake along with the Coronavirus left me rattled. I just couldn't settle. I don't remember ever having feelings like that. I just felt "off" or out of kilter all day. Of course 4.3 aftershocks all day didn't help, but I was so unsettled. When I saw the post for another crop, I could make my mind go to photos and papers. That helped, as did the jam making that made me concentrate on something else. The best thing was turning off the TV. How many times can they say the same thing over and over! I am working on some pages and hope to finish them tonight. Thanks to all your Sweet Peas that help me feel grounded!

nylene, I am glad you are finding that getting organized to craft has helped you to centre yourself in these very strange times. And glad you are getting some pages done. You can share your creations in the 2PR #STAYATHOME crop thread and/or on the team challenge thread. In either case, just leave a note on the other thread about what you have done and where you have shared your work.

nylene, I think an earthquake on top of the covid-19 would leave anyone rattled. DH & I (more DH than me) are taking the whole weekend off from news. I'm still checking in here so I see little snippets, but I'm not checking those threads. Did you take part in the crop? DH is better thanks. He really only coughs when he thinks about coughing which can happen to anyone. He's actually lost 2 pounds this week and is averaging over 20000 steps each day! Normally the meetings are in conference rooms and he has to sit. Now he talks on the phone and paces unless he needs to look at his computer. Plus he's not eating fast food. This stay at home movement is going to make him super healthy.

Hoping all the Pokeys are doing well. Staying safe and healthy. LisaDV, taking a weekend off from the news sounds heavenly. Dh is home every day all day now that his trips to town for coffee with the guys have been curtailed, and he listens to the news from three different sources all day every day. Glad your dh's health is so much improved! It was good to see you scrapping over the weekend, taking part in the crop, nylene. Spent some time on facetime this afternoon and evening with the dgk's. Two of them (aged 6 and 7 yrs old) had to show me the new gaps in their teeth. I hope the tooth fairy isn't under Shelter in Place restrictions, b/c these two little guys are about 300 km apart, LOL. My ddil wants to set up a group chat with a different app from Hangouts, but it seems to work the same way. We haven't managed to get the group chat going yet, but I did manage to send notes back and forth with one of the dgd's with the app. It was good to hear that she and her cousin in BC were chatting on the app quite regularly. As you remind us, nylene, at least we have technology to keep us together. Got to scrap virtually with justjac (and some other Peas) as well this weekend. That was nice. Waving hello to kellyr21, joyfulnana, patin, woodysbetty, knutschen, and any other Pokeys who have not checked in for awhile. Hoping you are all safe and well. Hey Pokeys. Hoping all are doing okay. Just wanted to pass on some information from joyfulnana. One of her sons (not Rudy's dad) has tested positive for Covid19, has some symptoms, and is in self quarantine along with his dad about an hour away from where she lives. At the same time as she is worried--and can't of course just go there and see for herself how they are--her work responsibilities seem to not be letting up. Needless to say, she can't be focussed on crafting right now, so she is stepping away from the Peas for the moment. We have a replacement leader of her March team. Not sure if she will be checking PM's here, but I have her mailing address if anyone wants to send her a card. Again, hoping the rest of you are well and safe. Sending (((((hugs))))) to everyone...

Thanks grammadee for the passing this on. Thinking of joyfulnana and hoping she can check in here every now and then. I'm sure we'll see a lot more positive tests starting to come back, especially since that study in Italy shows that 75% of covid patients were asymptomatic... It's a very good thing this virus isn't more deadly. I'll PM you. I finished a layout using old supplies. Very different colours and feel for me. It started with a re-organization which brought some old supplies back into the light. I found some Basic Grey - I had won a prize package from them I think and it included several lines of sewed banners, and booklets of journaling squares/cut aparts. This line is "Lucille". The colours/themes seemed right for this page, so I created the column down the middle with pieces from it. The background paper is basic grey "PB&J". layout hand me downs by kirstendrew, on Flickr

nylene, I hope you are feeling well enough to check in some time today... Saw in your Tuesday card challenge post that you are feeling "under the weather". Any illness right now is scary b/c the healthcare system is being overwhelmed by COVID19, and either we don't ask for, or are not able to get, diagnoses or treatments for other ailments that may be dangerous as well.

My DH and DS are often found exploring multiple news sites, however, they usually read the news over listening. Sounds like you will be a social messaging pro before this is all over. My FIL wants to “facetime”. He doesn’t have an iphone, so I have to have him get “google duo” so we can, but I haven’t yet. I know I’m bad. Your layouts are all fabulous. Oh no, thanks for letting us know about joyfulnana’s son. joyfulnana, if you do check in, know that you and your family are in my prayers. All the warm feels and hugs. kitbop, beautiful page. nylene, I hope you will be feeling better very soon. Thinking of justjac, kellyr21, msliz, patin, knutschen, woodysbetty. Hope you will be able to check in as well sometime this week. Prayers and hugs for all our pokeys.

Just a quick check in. I don't have Covid 19. My kidneys just picked this weekend to flair up again and put me out of commission. The hard part is I am too old to be seen in the office (so they say) so I have spent 2 days doing video conferencing with my family doctor and he insists I see the Nephrologist too. He isn't seeing patients either except his dialysis patients and I'm not to that point yet. Hopefully I can conference with him tomorrow. My doctor loaded me up with meds but thinks the Neph. may want to change some of those. The pharmacy was a half hour wait in line in my car to get Rxs. This Covid can certainly make things difficult.
I should be feeling a lot better in a couple of days.
Please, Pokeys, stay well!

Time to check-in Pokey's!! I see Linda and grammadee around the boards but everyone else - just a quick hi, still here. You are all in my prayers. justjac , msliz , patin , woodysbetty sleepingbooty, is your family healthy now? Last I heard you were fighting the flu. This years seemed to linger forever. How are you doing, nylene ? Was the cyber consult specialist dr. able to Rx you any relief? kitbop and knutschen , I hope your hospital has enough PPE supplies. kellyr21 , did you make any more new recipes? Your recipe challenge exploded there for a bit. I broke down and had a pizza delivered the other day. I wavered all day between whether we should or shouldn't and laziness won out. However, as soon as it was here, I knew it would not happen again until this has ended. I'm working on filing the past couple of days and hopefully will have each pile sorted and filed by early next week. It's the medical pile that will be the biggest pain. I have a small pile of things that still need to be done/dealt with. It's all across my craft counter and I'm kind of in the mood to paint or get art journaling, which is good as it'll get me moving quicker. I hate filing more than cleaning windows. DH gets window duty and I unfortunately usually just pile the filing and paperwork in boxes until I have to deal with it. DH's family has a group text thread, including the kids. The boys have been texting daily on it just to check in/on each other. Today bil suggested everyone put on a funny face selfie. It's been fun. Although we're still missing a couple of people. Again, please check in ladies just a couple of times a week. Waving hi to everyone. Sending hugs and of course, prayers for good health.

Yes, nylene, I SO hope you are feeling a bit better? Hi everyone! LisaDV, no our hopsital doesn't have enough PPE...like most hospitals we are very close to completely running out of masks. We get one/day currently. DD and I sewed some last night as it's better than nothing! My family kindly modeled a few with me Untitled by kirstendrew, on Flickr We had pizza last night and I anticipate a fair number of pizza suppers around here! Food is comfort, the treat that makes us feel more normal. We're trying to keep up with some exercise - DS brought the weight bench back out of storage, we run, DD does virtual dance classes every day with her studio via zoom. DD has applied for some temporary jobs (grocery store; pizza joint). DS #2 has lots of online work from college. DS #1 was pleased to get a bonus at work today for all his hard work the past few weeks. I am remembering to take pictures of these strange times - like gas prices and empty shelves! - but my scrapbooking has suffered. Just a general level of anxiety I feel that hinders my creativity. I've been baking instead as I find that very relaxing. Keep distant and well my pea friends. Sending virtual hugs to all.

Hi Pokey's checking in! Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers! They are greatly appreciated! DS is feeling much better today, no fever since Monday and just dealing now with the cough. I've been trying not to think about that midway relapse I see talked about. His dad is showing no symptoms so far. I'm hopeful. Work has been so much better since Monday. Monday was such crazy off the rails day - in every area of life - which prompted the taking a bit of a break. I'll be back full force soon I'm sure nylene I hope you can get some relief with your kidneys! And grammadee I hope you are taking care of yourself so you don't get another gallbladder flare. LisaDV - We ordered a pizza about 2 weeks ago and that's the last take out. I just can't make myself do it right now, even though I want to support the businesses. I'm really not sure why they think picking up take out is essential. I'm sure it's to try to keep some part of the economy going. We are on a shelter in place order until April 24th. Our governor won't close the state, but the mayors are looking out for us. I love our mayor. He has stepped up and done what's necessary to keep people safe and flatten the curve. kitbop, I hate that the hospitals are so short of PPE - it's horrible and shouldn't ever happen. I don't own a sewing machine, but I've been debating all week buying one so that I can sew masks. Please stay safe! I love that pic btw, those masks look great! I hope everyone is doing well and staying home. I have to get out for my Rx tomorrow and then that's it. I saw sign ups for April and I can't believe that. These have the been the longest 3 weeks of my life! It feels like we have been dealing with this for months already. I hope everyone stays safe and well!

Thanks for checking in, Ladies. kitbop, I want to steal your family photo to represent this crazy time in our lives.... Glad everyone is staying active and okay. And again a huge thankyou to you and knutschen and all of those who go into work in the health care system every day while the rest of us are sheltering in place. joyfulnana, hope that reduced coughing is a GOOD sign with your son. And I hope that work has finally settled down to give you some space to look after yourself. Hugs to you and your whole family. Isn't it wierd, LisaDV that when you start filing or cleaning or organizing, the first thing that happens is the mess gets BIGGER? Hope all goes well with your filing and that you can find some creative play, somewhere. I see that Linda is busy scrapping Disney over at the #STAYATHOME crop. Are you still sewing masks, too? Chatted with justjac on Hangouts this morning and she was busy making cards with supplies from a kit enclosed with a Brit magazine. gramma was on the call, too, and she was putting together another lovely two pager. Has been busy sewing masks, but has run out of elastic. Haven't heard much from patin lately, but see she signed up for the April Teams. Really hoping to hear from kellyr21. How are you and Ron weathering this storm? Hope you are tucked in safe at home and both healthy. And nylene, I hope that the new medication can be prescribed and that it can help you through this episode. My dd is doing a section on "body trust" in her graduate studies. It is hard to trust our bodies when they (sometimes literally) back stab us like they do! So hoping you and yours are untouched by this virus and will all come through this crisis okay. I am doing okay. Back to eating more or less "normal" food--at least all of the food groups. Have been cooking an apple, no skin, every evening for myself with a bit of sugar and a bit of cinnamon. Maybe there is something to the "apple a day..." theory, but no attacks for a couple of weeks. Touch wood. Dh went to town for the first time in two weeks today, but didn't get out of his truck. He drove to the tire shop and had the oil changed in his truck then came home. I drove in this afternoon, picked up a few groceries and the mail--got a box from my LSS: the February and March kits! And I picked up a pizza for me (the guy makes them specially for me) and a veggie sub for dh, so we felt quite decadent having take out for supper!

Hi, sorry to be a lurker. I have been off work for two weeks (with pay). DH has been off for a week (no pay) and will be off minimum one more week. We’re healthy and trying to get outside to walk most days. I am working towards my stamp organization. I have bought a LOT of stamps in the last 20 years. I have been taking part in a lot of online get togethers. I had three today! The peas crop, Awesome Ladies Project crop, and a Facebook live yoga class. Tomorrow I have Scrap Happy’s scrapbook live. My virtual social calendar is hopping!
