not Neflix or Prime but 30 Coins on HBO Max was good. i can't remember if i already mentioned this on a previous thread but it just came to mind when i saw this thread again. it's a pseudo-horror series from spain but with english subtitles. 1 season so far. We really enjoyed 30 Coins too. Can’t wait for season 2.

I watched I Care A Lot recently and enjoyed it. A little intense but not too much.

Not Netflix or Prime, but a light hearted show is Resident Alien in SyFy.
I am not a Sci-fi buff but for some reason the promo looked funny to me. My husband and I really like it!

DH was watching this and I caught a part of it. Looked interesting, but I had forgotten what day it was but now that I know, will probably continue watching.

Thank you for recommending this show! I'd not heard about it and it's right up my alley. I loved the first episode and can't wait to binge the rest!

We watched Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal last night and felt disgusted all over again.
The documentary uses reenactments of the wiretapped conversations to tell the story, along with interviews and news clips.
I hope Rick Singer ends up in prison and loses everything.

I posted almost the same thing a few posts up. I haven't even finished it yet and feel disgusted.

Just started watching New Tricks and liked the pilot. Hoping to watch Resident Alien with hubby. The first 8 episodes are on demand and it looks like it’s free in Peacock if you have access to that. Hoping we like it it’s hard to find a show that we both like. Started Superman and Lois but it’s too angsty for hubby which seems to be the norm for shows on the CW.

Binged Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. I was a little unsure watching the first episode, but I gave it a go. So glad I did. If you're one of those who like endings with a twist, this one is for you. Only six episodes so quick to get through.

We finished Imposters last night. Loved the show, the characters, the storyline. Wish there was a 3rd season but at least they tied up the main storyline. Our DS has never seen The Sting so I think we'll watch that next time he comes up.

At the recommendation of a friend I watched Diagnosis on Netflix. It’s only one season and features people who have a mystery illness. They featured each person in a magazine and crowdsourced a possible diagnosis. They had professionals, people with similar symptoms and armchair experts give opinions and then followed up. It was pretty good, my only complaint is that they never really showed in the long term result. It really showed how small the world is.

We're about halfway through The One. I never read the book, but we're really enjoying the series. It's such a train wreck.
Also Ginny and Georgia on Netflix. I've been trying to place which town it's based on -- I thought maybe Wellesley, but it seems bigger than that. We're enjoying it -- I'd say it was light, but it deals with a lot of difficult issues with teens. Only watched two episodes, but definitely continuing.
We finished season 2 of His Dark Materials on HBO max. I thought both seasons were beautifully filmed and very true to the books. There are actual teenagers playing the teenagers, which rings so much more true. It's fantasy/sci fi with an anti-theocracy theme. The Catholic Church warned against reading the books. So I promptly read them and loved them.
And we finished season 1 of West of Liberty on Prime. It was a really good spy thriller about CIA operatives in Germany, and seemed to be loosely based on Wikileaks and Julian Assange.

We finished watching season 3 of Marcella. We semi-enjoyed the first 2 seasons but when season 2 ended, we vowed we were finished.
For some reason we decided to give season 3 a go. Ugh. To us it was a hot mess. So glad it's over.

I binged Ted Lasso this weekend after realizing my new phone came with a one year subscription to Apple TV. It is just delightful. DH & I are working our way slowly through Bosch (Prime) and finished season 5 yesterday. TBH, it isn't my favorite, mostly because I really don't like Bosch much, but it is nice to have a show to we watch together. I do love Jerry and some of the other characters and we both love recognizing the Los Angeles locations. Season 3 of Shtisel dropped on Netflix recently and I went through it pretty quickly. I love this show, too.

Any other recommendations of something similar? Gritty, police dramas where there is an ongoing storyline is our thing. We don’t like the ones that tie everything up at the end of each episode.

The Irregulars on Netflix. fun drama set in old England and with a Sherlock Holmes twist. a bunch of street kids are recruited by Dr. Watson to work on some cases for them and ultimately links one of them to Sherlock Holmes. we really enjoyed it and hope they have a season 2.

If Longmire is available to you, it's another good police drama. Also Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime, although not really a police drama it does involve the police. The Americans is another excellent series about Russian spies embedded in the US during the 80s. Most of the shows that come to mind first are the British police dramas like Line of Duty which I assume you've already seen.

To us it was a hot mess. So glad it's over. It was over for me when she cut her face. They just did that for shock value and I knew then that I wasn't going to watch anymore because the writers etc had no plausible direction in mind for this show. Sounds like that was the right decision.

We just finished watching the first episode of the new show on PBS Atlantic Crossing. So nerve-wracking! Did anyone else watch it?
