I just started watching a British comedy drama called 'This Way Up' starring one of my girl crushes, Aisling Bea. Have any UK Peas seen it? It is from 2019 so I'm a bit late to the party. I've only watched the first two episodes and I am really enjoying it, mainly because I bloody LOVE Aisling! ETA: According to Wikipedia, it's on Hulu in the US. I’ve watched it, I thought it was really good. We are on season 2 now, I’m not loving it quite as much but will stick with it! I also love Aisling Bea

I just binged watched all 10 episodes of the limited Netflix series Maid. It's tough watch because the subject matter isn't uplifting, but it's a revealing look into an important segment of our society -- the single, struggling mother trying to escape a bad relationship and make a new start on her own.
The acting is superb in my opinion. The storytelling is captivating. The imagery is surreal and stays with you. Highly recommend.

I watched a couple movies on Amazon that Amazon recommended for me… A Year and Change (6.2 IMDB)) A man falls off his roof at a New Year’s Eve party, decides to make some changes in his life. A bit slow, but I enjoyed it. Tumbledown (6.2 IMDB) When a music scholar and the protective widow of an acclaimed singer collaborate on a book, their stormy partnership blossoms into an unexpected connection. I watched this only because it starred Jason Sudeikis😊. Another one that’s a bit slow, but good.

We are also loving Midnight Mass although we are seeing the "twists" coming a mile away. The acting is great and the story telling and characters just fantastic. Highly recommend.

I'm watching Avenue 5 on HBO max as I'm on a Hugh Laurie kick. It's from the creators of Veep. It's ok but not as funny as it wants to be. A nice distraction. While he's known for House he started in comedy, so you can tell he's having fun with the role. Josh Gad is in it as well so it's got a great cast.
I'm odd about what I find funny however, so others may like it more than I do.

I just started watching a British comedy drama called 'This Way Up' I watched it when it first popped up here and I really liked it as well. I'm assuming you've watched Catastophe? I finished The Chestnut Man, good Scandi Noir, creepy/serial killer type storyline. Dark and a bit of violence but not too much & with a good ending. I'd recommend this one. I also watched Everybody's Talking About Jamie (Prime) based on a true story about at 17yo who decides to become a drag queen, it's a musical. I really liked this & the lead actor is so good! I did think it would be a fun watch (it's a musical about drag queens!) but I cried most of the way through. When the mother sings " "He's My Boy" - I just lost it. Definitely recommend, but have some tissues handy. I'll definitely see the live show if it comes here.

Buried on Showtime. It’s a series that just started this week. I’m really liking it. It is told in a manner that is very similar to Making A Murderer. Seems like this is a trend now.
Well darn, I just wanted Buried in bold. I had a feeling I would screw it up.

I also watched Everybody's Talking About Jamie (Prime) Okay, after listening to He’s My Boy I wasn’t sure I have enough tissues for a whole movie like that but the trailer does look good. 👍 If you haven’t seen it already, you might like ”Pride” (2014) . I think we watched it on YouTube for free a few years ago after our younger ds recommended it, and it was available here on Netflix last year but I can’t find it there now, sadly. Google says it’s available on Disney+, if you can’t find it anywhere else, but they don’t seem to have a free trial anymore so it might be a matter of just keeping an eye out in case it becomes available somewhere else. Based on a true story, it’s about a Welsh mining community during the 1984-5 strike (the longest in British history) and a group of London-based gay and lesbian activists who, amidst the wider climate of raging homophobia and strident union-bashing, raised more money to help the miners’ families than any other fundraiser in the UK. I needed my box of tissues in places but the ending was so worth it! And it gave us “Where are my lesbians?”.

I love a bit of Scandi Noir, but haven't watched one for a while.

Watched The Guilty recently on Netflix. It’s Jake Gyllenhaal so I was looking forward to it, but it ended being just ok. Felt forced, and lacked character development.

No I haven't watched 'Catastrophe' I'm really surprised you haven't watched it - I think you'll love it based on all the other things you like. I really enjoyed it too - as did the Irish & Scottish girls at work. It was on ABC iview but I just checked and it says it's gone now.

For whatever reason, I didn't realize season 2 and 3 of Broadchurch were on Netflix. I binged all of season 2 last weekend and am looking forward to season 3 this upcoming weekend.

I'm watching season 3 of YOU and I'm not loving it, dull and so much same old, same old. They really should have stuck to the original story.
Free Guy is great, very funny and entertaining.
We've just started Y The Last Man, seems ok so far.
American Horror Story 1984 is so disappointing, where are all the regulars? Adult Material on Netflix is good, only four episodes so an easy binge (timewise not subject matter).

I thought the books were the same, the first one was so good and the second one was crap, so I didn't bother with the 3rd. I only watched the first series and stopped there.

As we were watching it, I told my husband: "This movie has Covid-19 restrictions written all over it." The main character basically spent the whole movie sitting in a room by himself speaking on the phone. The only two other persons we see in the movie, either sits at a desk 6ft or more away from him, or is at the door saying something to him without ever coming close to him.

Yeah, nothing has been a shocker, but that's ok because I feel like they're not trying too hard to hide anything. Sometimes the show feels a bit like sitting in actual mass to me and I get distracted by other stuff but then something interesting just pops up like BLAM and I'm on the edge of my seat! It's taking me quite a while to get through it because there are so many other things I'm working on right now. We also just started You season 3. I have only seen the first episode and it ended perfectly, just as I was getting bored with their relationship WHAM haha lol I love shows about dysfunctional relationships.

Sex Education is so good! I just started watching it recently and binged all of seasons 1 & 2 before they released season 3. It's so so well done, funny, a ton of heart, and I adore how they normalize so much about sexuality and bodies.

We just finished seasons 1-13 of Heartland. We're sad that season 14 isn't available to us yet. cadoodlebug, I think we're on Season 10. A lady watching it next to me on a recent plane flight was only up to FOUR! What else can you recommend that has the Heartland-type values, lol. I really dislike the gratuitous sex and nudity in so many of the streaming programs. *GAG* (more lol) We've been watching Heartland off and on since 2020, and also West Wing. I would welcome some other programs to work into the rotation. We will go as high as PG-13. lol. again. Layce
