We're winding down on season 8 of The Vampire Diaries. LOL. I love supernatural and scifi shows, and DH likes to unwind with a puzzle and ridiculous teen drama. This one was perfect for us.

We watched Liam Neeson in the 2020 movie Honest Thief on Prime last night. It wasn't Academy Award worthy but kept us entertained. Costarring Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice)and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice).

Our Flag Means Death just finished up on HBOMax and it was great.
It's gay. There's pirates. And at the end of the day it's a romantic comedy.
It follows Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) who uproots his life and leaves his family behind as he tries to become the gentleman's pirate. With a mish-mash crew that hates him yet puts up with him they swashbuckle through the seas until they meet the infamous Blackbeard (Taika Waititi). Friendship, love, and pirating sums it up in a few words.
You really have to give it 3-4 episodes though, basically once Blackbeard shows up. The first few are great for storytelling but it gets much better towards the middle of the season.
If you're a fan of Flight of the Conchords or What We Do in the Shadows then you already know the two leads, and also the sort of humor they usually go for.
Also includes a non-binary actor playing a non-binary pirate! And uhh Hodor from GOT? Idk, I didn't watch that but after I told my mom to watch this she was like OH THAT'S HIM! So if that's a selling point he's here too lol
There's a bit of blood from pirate-y things and 'bad' language but I don't recall nudity or anything too crass.

I watched Bad Vegan last night. It's a weird story (the weirdness kept me hanging on) but I'm glad it ended when it did because I was getting kind of annoyed with it. Testimony to how people get sucked in by con artists.

Testimony to how people get sucked in by con artists. I thought it was interesting, mostly because I'd actually known of this woman and been to her restaurant. It's kind of like being indoctrinated to a cult when this happens, and we had an interesting discussion afterwards about the culpability of the person who gets sucked in.

After Life - can’t recommend it enough. It starts out a tad bit on the down, dark side. But, RG makes it enjoyably watchable. If you like him, do yourself a favor and watch this genius written series on Netflix. Agree! I LOVE the way Ricky Gervais takes the saddest subjects, but he sprinkles in the perfect amount of humor. If you love "After Life", you will probably also love "Derek!" ( I used to volunteer in nursing homes, so these series reallllly touch my heart! ). For a veryyy funny, lighthearted series (no sad topics), I also highly recommend "Extras"--- it is SO. GOOD and has lots of guest stars as you've never seen them before (example: Kate Winslet (playing herself) cussing and saying some outrageous, hilarrrrrrious things!)

What is iTV? Not sure I've heard of that one before. I’m really not sure. We have a Go Surf Streaming Box so I never really know where the series/movies are coming from. I usually google the series/movie so I know what service is offering it when I tell my friends. I just googled “where can I watch iTV series” and it said Hulu.

Did you know he was a real pirate? I didn't until I was almost done with it! There was a post on Oh No They Didn't about the historical aspects of the show and the inspiration of their real life counterparts that I read around the time of the finale.

We have been watching some Apple TV shows ..
WeCrashed, about the WeWork rise and fall, is so good. Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway shine in this series.
Also on Apple, Pachinko, another series, is also very good so far.

I think this may have been mentioned before, but a new season was just released of After Life on Netflix. It is a SAD yet very sweet and uplifting show written and starring Ricky Gervais. Short 30 minute episodes, only 6 or 7 episodes per season. Sooooooo good. Very touching and sweet. I would not recommend it for anyone who has lost a spouse though...could be too sad.
And a light, fluffy entertainment show I watched this weekend is Lizzo's Big Girrls. It is more of a reality show where she is holding auditions for more backup dancers. The girls all live in a house and slowly some do get eliminated. As a big girl myself, I found it pretty inspiring to see these girls rock it with the dancing, and I enjoyed getting to know them. And Lizzo is always fun to watch - I really like her. This is on Amazon Prime.

Watched an Astrological guide for Broken Hearts on Netflix- 2 short seasons. Light fluff the story line seems wrapped up so I assume it’s over. I think it was Italian.
Started The Lincoln Lawyer and liking it so far. New and only 1 season on Netflix.

Netflix: Currently watching Under the Banner of Heaven about a murder in a Mormon town based on a true story in the 80’s. Pretty interesting and while I know a little about Mormonism there’s a lot I’m learning. Andrew Garfield is the main actor and he did a great job.
Hulu: watching The Girl from Plainville. About the girl who was texting her boyfriend to commit suicide and he did and now it’s gone to court. The actress, Elle Fanning, is so good in it. Sad story based on a true event too.

I know this is old news but I'm rewatching. Veronica Mars. I never watch the new series because I know who it ended. Wondering if I can watch up until the point where it will make me really angry and sad and just turn the TV off. I know I talk a lot about how much I hate the ending for hIMYM and I tell people who are going to watch it to turn it off as soon as they meet the mother and she says, "my name is ..."
Is there a point I can do that with the Veronica Mars revival series?

We finished The Pentaverate last night, it was extremely silly and enjoyable.
Tomorrow a Korean drama is very good but I'd recommend avoiding the episode Someday, Because of You (there's a dog and tears!) Nightmare Teacher another Korean drama that is also very good.
I started season 2 of The Wilds but it feels very same old, same old so far.
