I have been hearing so many people talk about the show, so I sat down last night to watch it. Five minutes in, I realized I had already watched it a couple years ago. In typical fashion though, I really don’t remember any of the details. I could be wrong, but I think The Staircase on HBO is a new version of the same story of the old The Staircase that was more of a documentary. It starred the actual Michael Peterson. The new one on HBO is supposedly much better. I’ve seen the old one, that’s probably the one you’ve seen. I think it’s on Netflix. Again, not sure, as I haven’t seen the new one. HTH Yes, the one we're watching just recently wrapped up on HBO Max.

I searched and couldn't find Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey (only found Sweet Magnolia). I haven't watched this, but I was wondering what the Peas think of it. I find that LDS and Scientology get me hooked.

Am I the only one enjoying "The Offer" on Paramount+? The story of the making of "The Godfather" at Paramount in the 1970's.

I'm watching the Australian series 'Puberty Blues' on Netflix. It's based on a book that was written in 1979, about teenagers, drugs, sex, surfing. Even though it was fiction, it was actually autobiographical. When I was a teenager in the early 80s, it was the #1 most stolen book from the school library! I had my own copy, and we all kept it hidden from our parents because we didn't want them to know what we were up to. There was also a film made in 1981, which is when I was the age of the girls in the book. Anyway, the series is set in the late 70s (true to the book) and was made it 2012. I'm a bit late to the party, as usual hahaha! My DD loves it, she said the other day that she's watched it about 8 times. "Puberty Blues is an Australian classic which chronicles a special moment of our history. In the early 1970s, the middle baby boomers were coming into their adolescence and early adulthood. The sexual revolution was in full flow. In America "teenagerdom" had come into its own in the sixties. It happened here in the seventies, with the arrival of drugs and the anti-Vietnam fed youth rebellion. And the wild mood finds its apotheosis in surf culture. Puberty Blues is a picture of Australian suburban life in revolution as the wild kids get their rocks off, exploring the worlds of the parents in a context where money and loans are much cheaper, divorce is much easier, full employment and prosperity abound, conventional morality is shifting and everything is endlessly possible. Based on the novel by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey."
I'm not sure if it's on Netflix in other countries, but if it is, have a look and tell me what you think.

I find that LDS and Scientology get me hooked. I binged it last night when DH was out at the casino. Religious stuff isn’t his jam. 😄 I knew most of the story but it was still a good watch.

Finally watching the Flight Attendant on HBOMax and really liking it. Trying to watch as many series during my 2 week trial.
I also want to watch Hacks. Any other suggestions?

Mare of Eastown is excellent if you haven't already seen it. Starstruck, a rom com series is fun & irreverent. Julia, a series based upon Julia Child was good.

On Prime, I recently watched: The Wilds - it's a social experiment mixed with teen drama.
Val - it's a documentary/biography about Val Kilmer. It's based on a compilation of his massive, practically life long collection of writings and recordings. He's an interesting guy.
I'm intrigued by Lincoln Lawyer now and might give Flight Attendant another try.

I find that LDS and Scientology get me hooked. I binged it over the weekend and I really enjoyed it. I like true crime docs, and this was well-told, but it's one of those really sad stories. As it goes on you do get a sense of the magnitude of the amount of people involved, and the amount of brainwashing involved. It came from an established religion, but Jeffs truly made it into a wacko cult. The last ten minutes were hard. I'm so proud of the people they interviewed who had been a part of the cult and told their stories. That must be incredibly hard after growing up in that community.

I'm not sure if it's on Netflix in other countries, but if it is, have a look and tell me what you think. It's on Prime and I watched the first episode the other night and texted DD that she needed to add it to her watch list. For me it was definitely a flashback although the music/soundtrack was not quite a match, the energy did. I searched this thread to see if anyone had mentioned watching Keep Sweet. I'm a sucker for anything about religious cults and watched this. I thought I knew the whole story and was surprised by a few things like the sad evolution of the families when they moved to Short Creek. The videos of family fun and joy at the beginning was an awful contrast to life under Warren. And while they are struggling to survive, he is off at Disney with his favorite wives. Everything about the FLDS makes my skin crawl. Another good series is Under the Banner of Heaven on Hulu, based on the Jon Krakauer book. It is the true story of a violent murder in Utah, an LDS family falling into extremism and the lure of the fundamentalist control and the detective struggling with their use of LDS doctrine to justify everything. This one sucked in my DH, who usually doesn't binge along with me. Val - it's a documentary/biography about Val Kilmer. It's based on a compilation of his massive, practically life long collection of writings and recordings. He's an interesting guy. Loved this, too. Another documentary both DH and I really enjoyed was Who is Harry Nilsson and Why is Everyone Talkin' About Him? on Prime. We are also really enjoying Tehran on Apple, although I wish I'd waited until the entire season was out before starting.

DH and I both loved Bosch and this is right up our street. I thought it had a Bosch-like feel to it before I realised it was the same writer.

For me it was definitely a flashback although the music/soundtrack was not quite a match, the energy did. Yeah the music is mainly Australian / NZ bands so I can understand why it wasn't a match for you. I've finished the first season, which ended at the same point as the book. But there is one big storyline in the book that hasn't happened yet. Also, the TV show involves a lot of storylines about the adults, but in the book they were barely mentioned. DD said that the second season wasn't very good. I'm still going to watch it though.

We are watching Barry on HBO Max. It's really entertaining and Henry Winkler is a scream as the acting coach. It's well worth the watch, funny and interesting. It's a half hour, so we watch 2 episodes per night.
I finished season 4 of The Circle on Netflix a while ago. It's a reality competition about social media and very fun. You really get to know the contestants and it's fun to see how their brains work, while planning their next move.

Just finished The Lincoln Lawyer ~ 2 thumbs up! Just read that it has been renewed for a 2nd season! We just binged the entire ten episodes yesterday. It was so good. I read everything that Michael Connelly writes and was so happy that The Lincoln Lawyer lived up to the books. They changed a few things in the series but they were all good changes.
