I just binge watched Eric with Benedict Cumberbatch and I'm a bit shell shocked! I'm not particularly a fan of his, but he's excellent in this, totally different from what he usually does. I liked it and it drew me in immediately but it didn't end up being what I thought it was going to be. I was expecting a missing child mystery - but it ended up much darker than that.

Has anyone watched My Lady Jane on Prime? It reminded me of a mash-up of Bridgerton and the Princess Bride. It was a bit raunchy in parts, but overall pretty enjoyable.

We just finished the third season of Spooks (renamed MI5 at some point) and a few of the episodes just gutted me. Tom leaving then Zoe going on trial and having to disappear. Last night Danny was murdered and it broke my heart. Despite all that, we love the show. Nicola Walker is a big bonus! It was released as Spooks in the UK because it's a term for spies here. However, in other countries it had racist connotations so it was changed to MI5. Haven't seen it in ages but loved it when I saw it.

My daughter and I just finished the documentary America’s Sweethearts about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. I went into it with low expectations. They won me over. They are amazing performers - top of their game. Kind of makes me crazy they get paid so little. Those jump splits should probably come to an end.

I remember the last show they had about the DCC and I remembered those withered dry arrangements from back then, promoting body shaming, eating disorders, and outdated ideas of beauty left over from their glory days in the 80s. They're still running the show. I felt SO BAD for the girls who are going to hear about how they needed makeovers, had no style, look a mess, etc etc. Suspicious lack of brown girls. I hate the whole idea of this as much as beauty pageants -- BUT as a girl born in the 70s, I also strongly remember and feel how much we wanted to look like them, like the Rockettes, like the Playboy bunnies, like the "sexy" girls from videos and shitty teen movies like Porky's, etc. This show is both making me mad and making me want to be sure I can fit into tiny shorts. And I remember feeling not pretty enough, not thin enough, not glamorous enough, not the right hair, too short to be one of them, not good enough to be a dancer or cheerleader, on and on and on. And I'm one of the lucky ones of our era to actually have what I consider good self esteem...thank goodness I largely grew out of wanting those things for myself (besides the tiny shorts though, lol) by the time I was an older teen.

I recently bought an expensive curling iron that I have not been using successfully. After watching them do their hair so many times I gave it a shot today using way more product than I have ever used at one time. I think I’ve got it down. That was super helpful. So many things in the show where you think it’s seriously effed up - like when they were critical with one of the cheerleaders for not proper fueling herself. She’s hungry! They’re all hungry! And put in a height requirement for crying out loud. That whole thing was mean. The Christmas ornament scolding was ridiculous. These women are so good at what they do and they are successful in other areas of their lives. They are so good to each other. By the time they finally do Thunderstruck on the field you are both wowed and pissed that they are probably the lowest paid people out on the field. I want to know what the foam hat cowboy makes each game! All of the game footage is so visually appealing. Those white boots! Mad respect for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. I didn’t know.

I watched A Family Affair on Netflix. What a creepy movie. First off Zac Efron looks bizarre. He’s clearly had a ton of plastic surgery. He had zero chemistry with Nicole Kidman, in fact it looked more incestuous than romantic.
Dint waste your time with this movie.

The foam head mascot is Rowdy and according to google he makes 65,000 a year... so about $50 an hour... he has practice but not to the extent the cheerleaders have.... Also the flag runners that run in the endzone when the cowboys score... start out at $45 an hour...

I just watched the 9th season of Suits on Netflix. The whole season was good and the ending was all it should be, and more. If you are a fan of the show, do yourself a big favor and enjoy all the love and lawyering Suits has to offer.

They are amazing performers - top of their game. Kind of makes me crazy they get paid so little. Those jump splits should probably come to an end. This such me in too! I feel like we need our own DCC thread. I was surprised so many were soooooo religious. I felt bad for the one girl they ultimately cut b/c she was... too short? I tried out for the Rockettes in 1999. They have a 5'6" height minimum. I'm sorry but I feel like this is something the DCC should have in place if they are ultimately going to cut a great dancer because they felt she always looked a step behind...? And then they said "Oh maybe we should have a height requirement in place". YA THINK?!?! This is after that girl already tried out last year, moved to Texas and based the last year of her life around this. NOW you tell her she's too short? That annoyed me. I am that TikTok you see going around that says "My toxic trait is after 3 spicy margs and some stretching thinking I could nail this dance" and they show them doing Thunderstruck. LMAO So many friends sent that to me! Only... I *know* I could nail it! (told you its my toxic trait haha). I was captain of my kick line team... I would like to try my hand at kicking on the Dallas field. After that I watched Dancing for the Devil about the 7M dance cult. I was shocked when I heard about this. I already had followed Miranda Derick for years on IG. I love her dancing. I did NOT realize.... she's in a cult?! She doesn't even realize she is in one. Its kind of bizarre. 3 episodes... anyone watch??

I'm not into dance, I hadn't heard of 7M or Robert Shinn, nor had I ever heard of the Wilking sisters. But I was hooked, and really enjoyed this doco. It's sad and crazy how people can be sucked into something like this. The other sister Melanie could see it for what it was, why couldn't Miranda?

I just started American Sweethearts after reading the last page of this thread. I have a lot of thoughts about many of these people so far lol. Thanks for the recommendation. I don't watch many shows so it helped to have an idea of what to look for.

I heard it was good and I am glad you're enjoying it. I still need to go back and watch Dark Matter, Mayor of Kingstown and The Bear.

I still need to go back and watch... Mayor of KingstownThanks for the reminder. I raced through the first season quite quickly. I wouldn't say I binge-watched, because it's pretty brutal and full on, but I did get through it quickly. I started season 2, and decided I just needed a break from it. I tend to watch a lot of violent shows, so I don't know why I needed a break from the brutality in this one. It is a great great show, but I think I need to drip feed it into my brain, interspersed with some happy jolly shows like Chicago PD and The Responder!

He keeps saying it was because he was injured to his jaw and then the resulting PT changed the muscles in his face. I don't care either way, but it definitely makes you look a few times. As for Kidman, ick. We actually looked up the age difference (IRL, not the 16 years they claimed in the movie) and it's 20. I guess I'm never a fan of hers anyway, unless it's "Practical Magic". It's been years since I watched it though. Absolutely don't waste your time watching this movie though. SAVE YOURSELF!!!

I watched Beverly Hills Cop Axel F on Netflix last night. It was ok but not as good as I was expecting. A couple of reviews said it was as good as the first but I disagree. Eddie Murphy also did not do his signature laugh which was disappointing.
On a positive note, Kevin Bacon is a perfect bad guy.

I even got my hair cut based on Miranda's latest style. My daughter, said mom, did you know about them being in a cult and I said no way. We watched the doc. Wow, crazy. I had no idea.

I watched Axel F yesterday and enjoyed it. I read a couple of reviews before watching as I really wanted it to be good and one comment was they wanted it to call back to the original, so it's structured as an 80's cop movie. They're exactly right that's what it is.
What's funny is I thought Kevin Bacon looked like he'd had surgery or something. Maybe it was just the bronzer they were using.
I'm almost done with Lady Jane and spent a delightful couple of hours yesterday diamond painting and listening to it. great recommendation!

Speaking of dance - if you love a show about dancers, there's Dance Life, which is a 5 part Australian show about a real mega competitive dance studio in Sydney. It follows several dancers as they try to get into the top group for their final year with the best, but incredibly driven teacher - Cassie Bartho. I love a good dance show and this was great. On Amazon Prime here, so might be on that in other countries too, definitely worth watching if you can find it. www.imdb.com/title/tt22694250/
