It really sucks for you...at least they made an effort with the content and videos downloadable, and contacting all the students to let them know this, but it really is not holding to their end of the contract that things were "forever access".

I've always loved SC products but their policies and customer service are driving me away. I've been substituting in other products over time that I like just as well or better so that I can eventually break loose from the company.

That would make me very frustrated, too. I try to download everything I purchase or really need--I don't take online classes (or classes in person, actually), but there are some YT videos I've downloaded that I feel are really important and would be devastated if I lost.

G-d, how I loathe Studio Calico's "customer service." I'm pissed off. I have classes at BPC that I now have to figure out how to download. Yes, I know it's not brain surgery to download the, but it's the principle of the matter.

Kiwifarmer, soo sorry you can't access your classes! I'm also very pissed at this "great" announcement. I've dropped an embarrassing amount of money at BPC because it looks like I can't pass up an online class and now it's all going away. Between 2P's closure, BPC/SC merger and trouble getting access to True Scrap this past weekend I think I'm calling it quits on online classes. Just not worth the hassle.

I don't think this has anything to do with Studio Calico. Big Picture Classes is only associated with Studio Calico via product/kit, they have nothing to do with the backend of running the website. Studio Calico and Big Picture Classes are separate, they do not have combine customer service. I know that around the scrapbook community, Studio Calico is the popular one to hate, but I believe that you shouldn't put blame where it doesn't belong.

Like others, I have an embarrassing number of classes I have paid for at BPC. All purchased with the promise of "forever access". That was probably the biggest reason that I purchased so many classes from them, knowing that I would be able to access the material "forever". I have classes that I often refer back to and I have classes that I haven't even looked at yet, purchased knowing I would take them later. The thought of downloading all this material over the next several months just makes me ill. I can't even begin to think about the time involved in it, but I have no other choice. I paid good money for these classes. I can't just let them go, but BPC will never see another dime of my money. You can bet your butt I will be at the chat.

Sorry you guys have to go through this. After 2Peas told me my "lifetime access" only meant "while 2Peas was in business," and now this, that phrase should be left off as a selling point to online classes.

Thanks for sharing; I didn't get this announcement. I used to love BPC and have so many of their classes. I'm disgusted with the whole thing. And I hate the way SC fucks up and pretends that the problem is actually a great opportunity. Ugh.
I revisit the Photo Freedom class every year. I can't believe it is not going to be archived. The amount of information in the form of board posts, blogs, and gallery images is impossible to download. Even if I could screen capture everything, it will be too cumbersome to actually refer to it all.

I only have two classes, but I'm pissed about it too. It sucks big tiime to pay the money to be promised forever access, wait to take the class knowing you can always take it later only to have this happen. It will be a huge hassle for me to download this stuff (and yes that part is my fault) because DH insists on only running Linex instead of Windows on our home computers-you can bet I will give him the job of downloading.) He's in IT, I'm computer challenged so he can do it.
But the point is, we shouldn't have to! This company swoops in, buys every business up and leaves big piles of messes behind. And then they have the audacity to send that email with news of oh how much better everything will be in the future. I can't stand them!

I have yet to be notified by BPC of this. I learned of it through the Project Life Facebook group. I, too, have taken a lot of classes and have to figure out where to store all the content. Hello, Story and Clean and Simple, for example, which are hefty with videos are both classes that are supposed to have the content transfer to the new site but I don't trust SC so will try to download ALL the videos for all classes I don't want to lose. I'm wondering why I haven't received an email from BPC about this.

Well crap on a cracker. That just pisses me off to the ends of the earth and back. I too signed up for classes for the "forever access". Seriously, I had no beef with SC before, but now I do. They know how to lose customers in a quick way.

Fortunately most of the classes I have taken are being saved but I really feel that they have the ability to move all of the classes but are choosing not to.

I never signed up for any of their classes but allow me to say in support of you who did, that's a really crappy thing for them to do. Do they think this won't affect their future business? They've just alienated a ton of people who won't be signing up for any of their classes in the future. Considering what they charge for classes that's a lot of money down the drain.

Stacy Julian posted this via Facebook this morning: stacyjulian.com/2014/10/transparency-101-stacy-style/. Yes, it's a nice, transparent post, but at the same time, I had to scoff a little when she said that she didn't know the extent of dislike surrounding Studio Calico. I also found it interesting that she never "intended" BPC to be a business. I understand from a business (money) and even tech standpoint why Studio Calico is doing the site revamp. In some ways I don't blame them; after all, they bought BPC to make money out of it, not for warm and fuzzy feelings. But, that doesn't mean I have to like it. And I've just realized why it pisses me off so much. Nowhere in the announcement was there any kind of apology for or acknowledgement of the suckiness of this change. They're trying so hard to give it a positive spin and brush the problematic aspects under the rug. And that annoys me. I'm not a child and I don't need a pep talk; I need straight talk.

So yeah, forever access doesn't really mean forever. First our 2peas classes, now BPC...SC has "forever access" to their classes and the digital files you buy from them....those probably aren't forever either. I guess we should just start downloading everything we have "forever access" to when we have the time because obviously our "forever" and scrapbooking companies "forever" are completely different!

I've tried to get over that but I guess I can't! How did she not know about the dislike of SC? (I had to edit because I think my last post was not too nice )

You said it perfectly Deliasmom. BS I think she didn't know the extent of the dislike surrounding Studio Calico, and if she didn't well then she's an even worse businesswoman than I thought she was! If you are "in" that business world you make it your business to know what the other businesses are doing, are about, what the word on the street is about them-ESPECIALLY before you decide to sell your business to them! I hated the beginning where she apparently says something about never intending to be a businesswoman. Yeah, right, or BPC to be a business just like you said. If you all believe that I've got some swamp land I want to sell you And lastly I totally agree with you-there is no way to put a positive spin on this and I don't want one. You (BPC) took my money for classes and promised me "forever access". Now, not even two years later all of a sudden that's gone. I know "forever" doesn't technically mean "forever", but it's got to mean more than two years. I want an apology dammit or at the very least some accountability, and some straight talk about how you are going to fix this. You meaning BPC-not you lovely refupeas. Debbie in MD.

Can someone explain what this remark was in regard to? Either I don't remember or I missed it all together when it first happened.
Thanks.
