So I got side tracked and didn’t get to laundry stripping, but I did use her tips with my spin mop and the results were god awful. I was horrified by the color of the water that came out of the bucket.
ETA : I regularly mop with my shark steam mop, I’m not a terrible housekeeper...I think...

I want to come stay at your places for awhile. I miss cows. Make it a day like today! In the 70's and no wind! I am seeing lots of cardinals and bluebirds on my pasture checks this morning, and a bounty of rooster pheasants. Avoid the days when it is 22º and snowing! LOL That could be tomorrow. That's how our weather rolls! But it does sound like we are in for some nicer weather, with maybe a little rain. Me? I don't trust IG cleaning influencers who have kitchens that look like no one's ever cooked in them and walk around in pricey dresses posing languidly. My kitchen has a bunch of calf bottles and tube feeders. Some sacks of powdered colostrum and electrolytes stacked up on one end. A stack of clean pots and pans that are washed, but not put away. One dirty roaster soaking in the sink. I have a few empty spots on my counter, but those should be stacked up with something by the end of the day. IG would take a $h!t if I posted my kitchen! LOL I also have on a free seed corn sweatshirt and jeans that I ripped the side on this morning getting too close to the fence, and some old Crocs.

One of the popular IG cleaning influencers who is a stripping proponent is also a QAnon follower who 'doesn't trust the news'. Me? I don't trust IG cleaning influencers who have kitchens that look like no one's ever cooked in them and walk around in pricey dresses posing languidly. That's not the owner of the page, it's beauty or something influencer that has never cleaned anything that Go Clean is helping via Skype during this isolation. The Go Clean owner has a cleaning company in Calgary and she shows herself cleaning all the time, actually doing it not jer selfie face. She gives everyone hell, take care of your shit you dirty bastards, don't be gross, clean this up.

I’ve been watching gocleanco on Instagram for a couple of weeks now and she has a series on laundry stripping. I’ve been researching it for about a year now and now that I have the time, I’m finally going to dive in. I’ve ordered the supplies and I’ll be doing it! Starting with our clean towels. Curious why you think this needs to be done? No snark... I just don't understand. I think that the idea is to get rid of product build up. Dryer sheets/fabric softeners and those pellet things—they are not good for you or the environment, and stripping us a way to get all that build up out of your fabrics. I use vinegar instead if borax. I don’t do all our clothes this way with every wash, but they all get it at least 6x a year. Kitchen Towels, sheets, bath towels, swimsuits, jeans, and T-shirts all get vinegar with every wash. I feel like everything is more absorbent (dryer sheets/fabric softener build up actually repells water)

That kitchen seems like a ridiculous place to talk about cleaning tho as it looks like it's never had even jarred spaghetti sauce warmed up in it. But the IG cleaning influencer is, according to her own words, a QAnon follower/non-news truster. So, um, yeah, there's that.

I accidentally shrank a favorite pair of pants this week by putting them in the dryer. Darn things shrank 3 inches in length! No way am I putting all my clothes in super hot water.

So I eventually got around to doing my white towels this week and the results were horrifying and satisfying. Sorry, no pictures. Anyway, I only use white towels, hand towels and wash cloths so I can bleach them. I don’t use fabric softener but I do live in an area with hard water. The water was a disgusting orangey yellow when I took the towels out of the water and when I drained the water there was actual sand at the bottom of my tub. I thought it maybe was undissolved powder from the stripping mixture but it was definitely sand.
My linen closet always had a faint musty smell even though I regularly wash everything and I don’t have old stuff hanging around. While it was empty during the process I wiped it down with a white vinegar and water mixture and let it stay open, the musty smell is gone.
The towels feel and smell great. I had hoped for better results with some that were stained, but overall I’m glad I did it. I’m also not sure why people are thinking I would do this to my clothes (besides cotton socks and activewear). It’s really intended for towels, sheets, active wear and cotton diapers.
The biggest skeptic was my husband and he was horrified at the color of the water, especially because we recently replaced all of our body towels within the last two years.
