No I don’t believe him. I believe her. Most people do not lie about this. It is not worth the shit storm. I also don’t think it matters at this point. He is the democratic nominee. He is running against someone who has had 8 bazillion (credible) allegations. Either way we wind up with a shitty president who has committed sexual assault of some kind. I would rather have a president who has had political experience, can fix the mess that is the economy, who is intelligent, who listens to actual experts and scientists about things, who reads his intelligence briefings, and who will have everyone’s best interest at heart (not just the people who kiss his ass and scream YES at him). And I would prefer that person to be a democratic. That he is a sexual offender is a moot point at this point. Because SO IS THE OTHER GUY AND IT DOESNT MATTER AT THIS POINT!!!!! Now I need to go take a very hot shower because I am disgusted by what I just said and that we have as a country have even gotten to this fucking point. There were so many other fucking options, but “we” are too stupid to have picked them. 🤬 When you get out of your shower ponder this for a moment. Prior to #MeToo, you were correct in your assessment of why make this up. Most women were never believed so women felt they had too be quite because of the shit storm that would certainly come their way. But since #MeToo women have come forward and can tell their story without the fear of being run out of town. Problem is, too many people are rushing to believe these stories and if anyone should raise questions they are attacked for daring to cast doubt on this poor woman’s story. All the while forgetting some women can be very very good at making things up to get back at someone. And are not above taking money to discredit someone’s reputation. There are two sticking points with her story. 1. Why did she wait this long to tell her story after the #MeToo movement started? Biden was in the public eye. So why the delay? She apparently told people what happened who remember. So why not tell her story a couple of years ago when the #MeToo movement started? 2. She said she filed a written complaint with the Senate Personnel office but she doesn’t have a copy. Why not? Seriously if I had filed a written complaint like that not only would I have kept a copy but would have a couple extras copies filed in different safe places. That is kind of a biggie when you do something like that. So not to have a copy does not make sense to me. I agree its odd that she changed her story from 'inappropriate behaviour' in 2019 - because she actually did come out with a complaint during the #MeToo movement - to the sexual assault accusation she made in March. That said, it's not true that women can tell their story without fear of repercussion. I think Ford is a good example of that. Let's be real, many of the women who have publicly shared their story have had some level of unwelcome repercussion. And for every woman who came forward in the last 2 years, there are 100 who didn't. I can tell you what was said by other women at my workplace and it was for sure not a welcome place for women to come forward.

Listening to my daughter and her friends who are Sanders supporters... Some of them will vote for Biden but a LOT are going to NOT vote at all. They would rather NOT vote than choose between these two. All these young voters who are so upset that Sanders isn't the nominee should've gotten off their butts & participated in the primaries. Young voters are notoriously unreliable.

The thing is, we do have to choose. I don’t think you can equate a choice in who to vote for in an election with choosing which of two random people is better when both are bad. And that is assuming that the allegations are true. But we shouldn’t have to. That’s my point. If these allegations are true, neither of these guys should be on the ballot. It shouldn’t even be up for debate. Think about it this way - instead of the school assigning your child’s next teacher, you have to pick. One has sexually assaulted one person and one has sexually assaulted 10. Which one do you pick? You wouldn’t. You would demand different options. All of us would. Yet somehow, the leader of our country isn’t held to that same standard. So bizarre to me. I agree, which is why I said that I don't think it is too late for Biden to step down if that turns out to be the right thing to do. But, I would also not be happy if that left us with Bernie. I feel like this being brought up NOW, when the primaries are over, was contrived and it makes me angry. We should have had all of the information when the primaries began. I also said that if Biden is indeed the nominee, we DO have to make a choice. And my choice would be Biden. At this point I personally don't know enough to make a judgement on this situation and what really happened.

It's not true, it's your opinion.
Believe it or not there are actually people who so much can't stomach all this bullshit that they simply cannot put their name to either candidate choosing instead a third party or vote of no confidence.
You don't have to agree with any of that but that is actually true, not just my opinion.
There are all kinds of reasons why people vote (or not) the way they do. It is the height of disdain and condescension for someone to claim others are stupid for not buying into a wholly corrupt system. That is my opinion.
Then you and potential non voters need to look at what’s at stake . This is not normal times. Never in the history of this country is it being tested as it is now. The constitution is literally under attack. And that is not my opinion that is a simple fact. All you have to do is look around. I mean put aside your personal beliefs and take a hard look at what is happening. It’s not normal and it’s dangerous to the well-being of this country. This election is about saving what is left of this country. And the first step is getting trump out of the White House. And that is what the voters have to decide on a November 3rd. Do they want to save the country or not. This is what we are voting for. NPR “The White House won't allow Dr. Anthony Fauci to testify before Congress as part of an investigation into the administration's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, calling the request "counter-productive." The Executive Branch doesn’t get to decide who or what Congress holds hearings on as part of their oversight duties. But yet the trump administration excels at obstructing Congress from doing their oversight duties as written in the constitution. And thanks to his buddies in Congress he is getting away with it. Sometimes it can be a pain in the ass but you show up and answer the questions. A case in point are the Benghazi hearings all 8 of them. Let’s not forget hearing #8 where Hillary Clinton showed up and answered questions, some of them were pretty dumb, for 11 hours. And at the end of hearing # 8 Gowdy conceded they didn’t learn that much more then they learned in hearing #1. Just think of the howling that would have gone on by the Republicans if President Obama had told those who testified for any of the 8 Benghazi hearings not to because its counter-productive? But yet Republicans are now complicated to trump’s actions. This is what we are voting for, this type of obstruction shouldn’t be allowed to happen on either side.

That is kind of a biggie when you do something like that. So not to have a copy does not make sense to me. I assume she feels she has a civic duty to speak out publicly now. Because he is running for the president of the United States. Maybe she feels empowered by the movement and feels safe sharing her story at this time. I don’t know what her motivation is. I am not her. I can tell you that my own personal story of sexual molestation is not public. I’ve talked about it here, my husband knows, and about 6 of my very very close friends know what happened to me. I didn’t tell my parents when it happened because I am positive my dad would have walked down to that persons house and beaten him to death, gone to jail, and we would have been destitute. I would have lost my dad and everything else in the process. Or, on the other hand, should i have pressed legal charges against this person in this tiny ass town, it would have been a social shit storm. We have me and my family, newcomers who know very few people, vs the son of a much beloved minister in town. We would have been social pariahs. No thank you. I didn’t and still don’t wish to have my life and my family dissected by the local media like that. But I can tell you with 100% certainty, if my molester were running for president of the United States, or judge in this state of mine, or some other position of power, I would absolutely come forward with my story. I would weather that shit storm, along with my family if it meant that fucker stays out of a position of power. That asshole does not deserve to be in that position of power, in a position to make laws, change the will of the people with his words, etc. I would make it far and widely known. I would do everything in my power to stop that fucker from being in a position like that. He is not worthy of something so great. And even if my story didn’t sway enough people, THEY WOULD KNOW. They would know that he had been accused of doing something so heinous, and that he is not a good person. Here would be a layer of dirt on those votes for that person, and those people would feel it and have to live with it. As it is, I’m solidly in the Biden camp. I don’t give a flying fuck what he did x amount of years ago at this point. He is running against DONALD TRUMP, and that fucking idiot has GOT TO GO. He is beyond stupid, and has caused far too much damage in the past 3.5 years than I ever imagined possible. If the way out for the greater good is to run opened armed to someone who sexually assaulted someone else, so be it. I would vote for literally anyone or anything who is not donald trump at this point. I literally do not care. I voted for Pete. I would vote for him again. But we would up with Biden. It is what it is, and there aren’t any other viable choices to get that fucking idiot out of the White House!!!! 3rd part isn’t a viable option. It’s a vote for trump in my opinion. Th e people of this country have spoken, and it’s Biden (who I really really don’t want to be president) or it’s Trump (who is too many horrible things to name). I’m going with Biden. The end. ETA: I don’t know why she doesn’t have a copy of her report. If I had reported my molester, I would for damn sure have hung on to that piece of paper. I have printed emails from 20 years ago that I am still hanging on to. That reported accusation would be way more important to me than those silly emails. There would have been copies made, the original placed in a security box in a bank, and copied sent to my friends and family members for safe keeping. BecUde you can never be too careful with that kind of thing.

Exactly. They are as relevant as Trump's university records and transcripts, but no one is clamoring for his records. Was he involved in misconduct as a student? Did he really pass his classes? What's in his academic file? Or is he just afraid that his college records will prove once and for all using an objective standard that he does NOT have a "big, beautiful brain?" Joe has asked for the records that pertain to this matter--employment files stored in the National Archives. Those are NOT his personal congressional work files that would have been given to the University. He had no control over personnel files for anyone who worked for him, and I imagine he would have broken the law, or at least HR policy, if he had copied a staffer's employment information for his "library." Obama never released his school records or his birth records for that matter. He released his official birth certificate PROVIDED BY THE STATE OF HAWAII! The same type of birth certificate provided to anyone born in Hawaii. As for school records, no he didn’t release them. But no one was asking his opponent for school records either. Let’s just list all the “suspect” documentation Trump has fought hard to avoid releasing because he doesn’t want anyone to see it before an election: tax returns, his daily schedule, business records relating to Deutchbanc, business records relating to his current businesses that are doing business with foreign countries as well as American business interests who want to curry favor, documents relating to his “charities,” the famous phone call that he tried to hide on a classified server....the list goes on and on. I would be happy to see Joe release his records, but only after Trump releases his

What's clear is that sexual assault isn't an issue unless the person accused stands for everything you don't agree with. Republicans that dismissed allegations on Trump, smeared Ford and now are suddenly very concerned with sexual assault, while Democrats smear Reade. It's absolutely disgusting to think the people we are placing in high office are sexual predators. Can you clarify what statements you believe have “smeared “ her?

The New York Times Editorial Board is now calling on the DNC to investigate Tara Reade’s allegations. (I don’t know how to link from an app, but the editorial is headlined “Investigate Tara Reade’s Allegations.” The editorial proposes that Joe Biden give a select committee access to the University of Delaware records to see if there are any references in the records to Tara Reade.

Yet another reason what we are voting for is to stop this..
Walter Shaub..
”Trump is replacing the HHS Inspector General because she released a report showing shortages at hospitals during the pandemic. This action shows how Trump's corruption endangers the public. Here's a link to the report.”
In the process of doing what they were hired to do they made trump look bad so he fires them.

These reasons are pretty strong for serious questioning of her story. However, the fact that Ms. Reade cannot remember the location of her assault stuns me. I, like many others, have been assaulted. I can tell you that even though it was 30 years ago, I remember it like yesterday. I don't remember the exact date or time (I do know the approximate time), but the place? Absolutely. It was terrifying. I also remember exactly where I was when my boss (not who assaulted me) told me he would fire me if he heard these allegations because his boss (who did it) would never touch anyone. I know I don't speak for everyone, but I know a lot of women who have been assaulted and location is one thing they all remember. I can absolutely assure everyone - with 100% certainty - I would NEVER praise either man for anything, much less for his work combating sexual assault. FFS! Finally, I guess someone can call themselves a staunch Democrat and praise Vladimir Putin, but I am relatively certain that that is just like saying Joe McCarthy was a good man. Saying doesn't make it so. It depends on what you mean by location, but I'll raise my hand as a woman who was sexually assaulted and doesn't remember the location. I remember in detail that I was on a couch in the far end of a living room, that kind of thing is burnt into my memory. But the address of the house? Even the neighbourhood? No recollection whatsoever. There isn't only one way to react to being sexually assaulted, and I don't want to diminish any woman's experience (not saying you do) by requiring it meet my expectations of how a victim should respond. That is what I meant catmom - not the specific address, but the place. You remember the couch. I remember the hallway. Ms. Reade could not even remember those details.

Kyle Griffin...
”Breaking via NYT: Trump moved on Friday night to replace a top official at the Department of Health and Human Services who angered him with a report last month highlighting supply shortages and testing delays at hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic.”
”The White House waited until after business hours to announce the nomination of a new inspector general for the department who, if confirmed, would take over for Christi Grimm, the principal deputy inspector general who was publicly assailed by the president at a news briefing."
Think about it, a man that is incompetent and when his shortcomings are pointed out, instead of trying to do better he shoots the messenger.
For a third rate businessman that may be acceptable, but not for the President of the United States.

And yet when you ask the idiot for documents that every president and presidential candidate has released since Nixon you get the finger. Golly, I wonder why.

It's absolutely disgusting to think the people we are placing in high office are sexual predators. I think both Blasey and Reade are credible. Can you clarify what statements you believe have “smeared “ her? Which one? Ford or Reade? Maybe "smear" isn't the right word, but they've both been branded as liars with ulterior motives. And if you were a democrat, you believed Ford. If you are a democrat, you believe Biden. And vice versa. Basically, no party gives a fuck about actual sexual assault if the accused is in their party.

Tara Reade said the report she filed makes no mention of an assault only says that Biden made her feel uncomfortable. She also just cancelled her Fox interview with Wallace that was suppose to air tomorrow morning. So while she does have the right to speak her truth it appears her truth is shaking at best and she looks to be changing her mind on wanting speak out.

And if you were a democrat, you believed Ford. If you are a democrat, you believe Biden. And vice versa. Basically, no party gives a fuck about actual sexual assault if the accused is in their party. Have you read all of the conflicting statements by Reade? That is what I have seen people putting out there. She went on record praising Joe Biden for his support of legislation regarding sexual harassment. For YEARS. She had nothing to say about him when he ran for president before. She has told multiple conflicting stories about multiple events (not related to Biden) that just don't make sense. I don't think that is "smearing" her. That is questioning the story and motives that appear to be changing. There is so much "odd" about her history with Joe Biden. She publicly praised him for years until relatively recently. I can understand not coming forward with an accusation if she feared reprisal and public scrutiny, but why would she praise her rapist? I cannot imagine a situation where a rape victim would publicly express unsolicited support for her rapist who is in public office. I suppose it is possible, but that is not how trauma victims generally react. Do people think she was somehow coerced to support him long after she quit? Seriously, why would he want the support of a former aid that no one had ever heard of? Or that he wanted the support so badly that he would go to a woman whom he supposedly raped and ask her for an endorsement of his policies? He was thoroughly vetted before Obama chose him to run as his VP. Nothing. Not a hint at something like this ever showed up. And he wasn't just vetted by Obama. Do you honestly think the GOP didn't do its best to dig up dirt on him in 2008? Nothing came out of the opposition research, or at least not publicly. Why not? Maybe because it never happened? There are ALWAYS rumors that something isn't right in a case like this, and there is just no evidence at this point that any sexual assault ever happened. Joe has requested a search for the complaint that she says she filed, and he is confident that it does not exist. If it shows up, then maybe there is something more to investigate, depending on what the complaint says. As for Ford, she did tell others about the assault, and not just when Kavanaugh was being vetted for Supreme Court. Her story was corroborated by others' recollections of the "boys will be boys" party atmosphere that he participated in. She didn't do an about-face and go from praising him to accusing him. She also didn't tell multiple conflicting accounts of what happened. Accusations don't exist in a bubble. I could come forward today and accuse Donald Trump of sexual assault, but that doesn't mean I should automatically be taken at my word without any critical analysis of the story. And trust me, if I did accuse him, no one would be wrong if they said I did it for purely political reasons. I don't know Tara Reade's motivations for saying what she has said at different times over the past 27 years. Neither does anyone else, and all we have to go on is the circumstantial evidence. Did she react the way a victim would usually react? If she did not, is there a plausible reason for the difference? If her story has changed, why? I do not trust that Russia isn't using this to interfere in our elections. She started praising Putin publicly a couple of years ago, so it really is NOT a far-fetched theory. Russia got Jill Stein to play along during 2016, and I have to wonder if this is just Round 2. The timing of this has opposition fingerprints all over it.

I've been struggling with the timing as well. To be clear, as a victim it's up to Tara Reade if and when she comes forward and I don't think this necessarily even impacts whether or not she's telling the truth. But if she had come out with this even 6 months ago there would have been time for the DNC to do an investigation if they thought it was appropriate, and for voters to vote accordingly with this information. But to wait until the primaries are effectively over and the leader has been chosen and at exactly at that moment, when little to nothing can be done about it, to release an incredibly damaging allegation that can be neither proven nor disproved. That seems incredibly deliberate. And it seems deliberately aimed at inflicting damage to the Democrats in the upcoming election. Or to put it another way, aimed at assisting the Republicans in the upcoming election.
I support a victim's right to come out with their story whenever and however they choose, and I can certainly understanding not wanting such a person to become the President. But this year the stakes are higher for the US than they have been since... the civil war maybe? I don't wish to descend into hyperbole but the last 4 years have taken America far down a path I didn't even know was possible, I can't imagine where another 4 years would take you. Who would choose this moment in time to be THE moment to come out with this story?

I read today she was one of the several women who came out and said they didn’t like how he put his hands on their shoulders etc several months ago. Biden apologized said he didn’t realize it made these women uncomfortable and promised to respect a woman’s personal space going forward.
That would have been a perfect time for her to tell exactly what happened to her instead of the story she told. So why didn’t she?

I don't wish to descend into hyperbole but the last 4 years have taken America far down a path I didn't even know was possible, I can't imagine where another 4 years would take you. Who would choose this moment in time to be THE moment to come out with this story? This is exactly the kind of crap that the Russians pull, and DID pull in the 2016 election to benefit Trump. They like to sow discord, turn things upside down, stir things up in whatever ways they can get a toehold. And that’s why the timing of all this is really, really suspect right now. I also find it highly interesting that this particular person was allegedly singing Putin’s praises in the not so distant past. That’s something I would definitely like to read more about. How did this lady who was supposedly a staunch Democrat end up being pro-Russia?

So it’s okay to have Bernie, an old, rich white man, (and not a Democrat) be the Democra presidential nominee, but not Biden? So far he’s not a rapist, so I’d say that’s a plus. So far, neither is Biden... And Bernie’s not, nor ever was a Democrat. So why is it the responsibility of the Democrats to put him up? Why don’t the Independent and progressive parties run him? I mean look at Jill Stein, she ran 3rd party.

Tara Reade, a former staffer accusing former Vice President Joe Biden of sexual assault, specified Saturday that she’s “not sure” what wording she might have used in the paper complaint she says she filed with a Senate personnel office in 1993. “I filed a complaint re sexual harassment and retaliation but I am not sure what explicit words on that intake form until we all see it again,” Reade told NBC News in a text message Saturday. Reade has said that the complaint, if it’s found, would not include the sexual assault allegation that she came forward with in March. She told the Associated Press in an interview Friday: “the main word I used — and I know I didn’t use sexual harassment — I used ‘uncomfortable.’ And I remember ‘retaliation.’” Biden has insisted that no record exists, but nonetheless on Friday sent a letter to the Secretary of the Senate asking that they “take or direct whatever steps are necessary” to determine where any such personnel record would exist, and release to the public any documents it finds related to any allegation Reade might have made. www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/biden-accuser-tara-reade-not-sure-what-complaint-she-claims-n1198741

I am very very uncomfortable with the attacks on Reade. I’m a super Trump hater, by the way. But this is NOT right. She didn’t want to hurt his career. She believed in his politics, even though she knew personally he was a predator. So she remained quiet. The “why did t she say it at xyz juncture” folks? Really? Like it’s just so easy to discuss a sexual assault? I know y’all do t believe that.
And now those of us who also believe in his politics will keep quiet. Or worse, discredit and attack. I find her just as credible as the Kavanaugh allegations.
This is a huge fucking problem and I am sick of these assholes getting off because “we” (left or right) need them to advance our political agenda. That’s why no one on the right cares about the Trump allegations, and here we are on the left making sure we don't either. It is absolute fuckiNo bullshit.
Really, where are the torches and pitchforks amd Revolution? Because this system blows. I’m horrified to say I won’t vote- but I won’t. I do t care about your lesser of two evils bullshit I know it is entirely possible for no fucking evils and I and my children and every American deserves that.

But the thing is, if you have credible claim that is that explosive, why would you not use your information to shut down someone’s presidential campaign before it even started? Why wait until the person is the freaking nominee, with the potential of blowing up the entire election? For God’s sake, there were more than a dozen candidates with five or six solid contenders toward the end and any one of them would have been a decent president and leagues better than Trump. Have we learned nothing from the past, learned nothing from how Trump ended up the Republican nominee in 2016? She could have shut Biden down long ago by demanding an investigation then and he never would have gotten this far because someone else with less baggage could have been chosen.
As frustrating as all this is right now, by not making her more serious claim before this when people could have taken it into consideration and another candidate could have been boosted into that top spot, all she is doing at this point is helping to get Trump re-elected. I’m not letting what she claims sway me one bit, because IMO Trump is light years worse in every respect.
As I’ve said in the past, Biden was never my first, second or even third choice. I’m not so much voting for Biden at this point. I’m voting for liberal SCOTUS judges. I’m voting for clean air, clean water, National state parks, quality public education, safe food supplies, safe workplaces. I’m voting for transparency in government, a return to checks and balances, for upholding the constitution. At this point we don’t have the luxury of choosing anyone else, that ship has sailed. I’m choosing to vote for the things and policies I believe in, because to not vote or to vote for anyone else means we’ll end up with four more years of Trump and that’s something I just can’t stomach.

The DNC has basically said at this point the nominee is going to be Biden. If it’s not him, who is it then? Would it go to the runner up, Bernie? Do we re-do the primaries to exclude Biden? I’m genuinely asking, because I have no idea how it would work to basically ditch Biden at this point.

Everyone involved with the Obama campaign vetting process says Joe Biden was investigated inside out and upside down in every way possible and NOTHING like this allegation was ever found. I am still on Team Biden.

You are obviously entitled to do what you think best, but I don’t understand what not voting is going to do. Not voting is essentially a vote for Trump. Of course we deserve a no evil option, but right now we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. You can either just sit down and not do anything or you can vote and at least start on path to change. I really don’t understand people who won’t vote, I just don’t. Of course we deserve better then what we have, but you can either roll over and let Trump be elected again and watch the worst of the worst rise to the top. We will just see more and more of the hatred exhibited at the protests emerge if that happens. If you vote for Biden hopefully some of the crap humans who are emboldened by Trump will crawl back under the rock from which they came. If you don’t vote it is pretty likely Trump will get another Supreme Court Justice nominee, do you really want another Kavanagh on the SC? Look at how much damage Trump has done in less then 4 years. Can you imagine what another 4 years will do? Makes my skin crawl. I am not a Biden fan, but I will do what ever is in my power to make sure he is elected. There are too many lives at stake.

Exactly all of this. Biden is already old and a second term is highly unlikely. But whoever his VP is would get vital experience at the top levels and hopefully will be in a good position to step up and take the lead in 2024 and again in 2028 in an effort to fix some of the horrific damage that Trump has already wrought. I just pray that Biden picks someone young enough to be a viable leader for the next 12 years.

People who say they won't vote were looking for a reason to not have to vote against trump. They are thrilled to death that Reade has come forward with her accusations. Now they can breathe easy and do what they were going to do anyway. Vote for trump or not vote at all.
