I'm so upset for her. She's one of the two designers that ACTUALLY scrapbooks. I hope someone out there is smart and snaps her up.
It makes me wonder how long she's known this because I thought her home renovations were set to be completed not long after they moved in and it seems not a lot is going on...did they stop the work to conserve money because AC did this to her?
I can completely believe a company would choose an influencer for their following over someone who actually has an interest in the industry, but the only person I follow at all in the scrappy world is Shimelle and I did so before she got on with AC. She is a monumental asset to this industry...far more than just about any other designer brand under the AC umbrella.

So I am under the impression that the AC "celebrity" scrapbookers don't actually do the designing, they just provide direction/input? In-house designers do the actual designing. Is that not true of Shimelle? Not that it makes any difference, I am sad to see them drop her. She truly is scrapbooking, unlike the ones that are just names. You are correct. Shimelle talked about how it's AC in-house graphic designers who do the actual designing part. She comes up with the ideas for theme, colors, etc and they translate it into papers and embellishments and the like. I believe that was on Amy Tan's podcast a year or 2 ago when she talked fairly in-depth about how it worked. It was a pretty fascinating to get that peak behind the curtain.

This makes me so sad. Shimelle is lovely and so talented. She's an ambassador for scrapping in the world. She's one of my favorites to watch and I've taken a few classes over the years even though her style is very different than mine. I still learned tons and her enthusiasm for the hobby is encouraging and refreshing. AC missed a real opportunity to expand her role into something beyond just being a name on collections like several other of their designers. Even if her collections in particular weren't selling as well as they would have liked, there are tons of things she could do to help promote the hobby. Yes! This describes her perfectly! I love Shimelle and need to check out what her latest class offering is and support her! I agree EP would be a good fit, or even Simple Stories (there is a hole to fill there for boy collection designers with Traci Reed leaving them).

Uncertain whether AC (perhaps in an effort to downsize - potentially with more designers announcing their dismissal - due to the pandemic/global economy), Shimelle (wanting to focus on her family or other reasons), or they mutually decided to part ways. If she wants to continue designing products, I hope she finds a situation - whether her own independent shop or a collaboration with an existing company - where she has more artistic control & involvement in the process. Wishing her continued success (& us access to her future designs)!

I hope scrapbook dot com might continue working with her even without the AC connection, and maybe another company will pick her up, if that’s what she wants. I know she has said that some of the things that “we” loved were actually bombs from the point of view of sales - like Head in the Clouds. Did very badly. As we have concluded many times on this board, what “scrapbookers” supposedly want and/or buy is not necessarily what *we* love, want, and buy. I’m sad to hear they are cutting ties, but honestly I’m not so much surprised as just disappointed. I think the best ways to support her are to shop scrapbook dot com using her affiliate link (for her stuff or for anything) and sign up for her classes!

Kind of explains why she joined Paige Evans’ team - the big die cut titles never seemed her style really, but it’s a good way to keep her using her sb skills for AC and to keep her getting supplies.

Well crap. I just picked up a lot of her Never Grow Up line at JoAnn's today. I got the paper, stickers, and ephemera. I LOVED it because of the tree papers and the other paper that was outdoorsy and not feminine on both sids. The other four racks were filled with pink and flowers. Everything pretty much look so similar (pink and frilly) that I can't buy it.

I think one of AC's HUGE problems is that they sell it to JoAnns, etc. Why in the world would a LSS buy it if JoAnns has it? If I was the owner of a LSS, I wouldn't buy it.
Also, eventually, you can find the paper pads, embellishments and stamps in Tuesday Morning for a fraction of the price.
I hope Shimelle doesn't go towards Echo Park -it just seems to me that it all kinda looks the same.

I am so sad she won’t be designing for AC anymore.

This is very sad news. I hope someone else picks her up. I love most of what she's put out. Several times, I didn't like a collection when it was announced but then I would see her Friday lives and would go and buy them because of how she used and promoted her lines.

Well- given that Shimelle has made no secret of her love of OA and sassafrass wouldn’t it be awesome if Carta Bella picked her up and her and Steve Duncan teamed That could be Fabulous! With a capital F

This breaks my heart. It really does. I honestly can't see myself buying much from AC since Shimelle is leaving. Most of my AC collections are Shimelle's. When Shimelle worked with the InHouse Designer's her line was so cute and unique. It just had a different style, color scheme and individuality over the other "scrapbook" star lines. I do always try to buy thinking of the InHouse Design team and not the scrapbook stars name on the line. Shimelle is always my favorite. I always felt like she was part of the team. It seems like the other stars they say "Sunflowers" we get sunflowers. Shimelle was like "Dragon constellations on a pretty blue background and each dragon has a name, personality and lovable quality! We got that.
I hope this was a Shimelle decision. It will also break my heart if AC let Shimelle go. To think of Amy and her Social Influencing and Dear Lizzy with her controversial slut shaming husband that AC lets the one person go that is really beloved by us, has such a great personality and a really good image. Let's not forget the most important- drama free, professional, kind & respected in our industry.
I do really hope CartaBella/Echo Park snags her up. She is the perfect fit. Also for a selfish reason I buy everything, including digital lines, of Carta Bella/Echo Park.
Shimelle whatever adventure you go on to next, I know it will be amazing. We will all be supportive of it.

Unlike the likes of Studio Calico or Felicity Jane, AC has to design, work, manufacture ahead of time. I work with high street retailers and they plan what they are selling in their stores for Christmas 2020, like three months before Christmas 2019. There is so much that goes into having products manufactured for retail - they can’t decide a month before it’s due to sell in a store to make a collection. I think this will have been a decision that was made a while back.

Whoever is making the decisions over at AC is an idiot. WORD! What the heck?? She's about the only one of these "names" still ACTUALLY scrapbooking, ffs. Her work got me to buy her product. This makes me super mad at AC. Yep... another one in agreement. In fact I only see Shimelle and Paige Evans actually still scrapping as well as designing... and Shimelle is waaay more active than Paige.

I am sad. There were always some pps and embellies I loved from her lines. Like others, her own scrapping with her items encouraged me to buy more of them. And regular scrapbook use - backgrounds/matting - not like Paige Evans where it's mainly electronic die cut with filling. That doesn't show me how her papers will work in my style. Add me to the list of people who will take more of Shimelle's classes to support her! Loved what she did with scrapbook . com and I hope that wasn't only related to her AC stuff in the store?

I’m not sure if this is a good idea to pull a Beetlejuice in this thread or not, but what the heck. ;-) A few people linked me to here and above all I want to say thank you for all the supportive words here. I was a little worried to click through because I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea (what a boring world that would be!) but gosh, that was a lot of love my way and I can’t thank you enough. And yes, every time I sketch an animal, it gets a name. Why wouldn’t it? ;-) To stop speculation on a couple things, this has nothing to do with Covid. And it’s not what stopped work on our house. That’s a whole other story of how one of the first contractors we had in talked a good talk but turned out to be a total conman who left us with a mess of building work and zero trust. We had finally got to another real point of progress when lockdown hit, so some things should start rolling again once it’s cool to have people in homes. I hope so. The sawdust and boxes are getting pretty old by now. I am absolutely fine with it all and I will still be scrapping as long as anyone wants to listen to me. And after that I’ll probably still be scrapping when no one wants to listen to me. That’s fine too. Thank you so much for your support. I know some of you go way back to the old days, and it’s lovely to know you’re still out there and still crafting. Puffy hearts to you all.

That was so nice of Shimelle to stop by. I'm glad I said good things about her. Yesterday I went to Scrapbook.com and bought a ton of Shimelle's last two lines. I'm stocking up. I especially like the dandelion paper in her last line- I used mine already and have bought 3 more sheets. I'm sure more of her stuff will show up at Tuesday Morning but I wanted to make sure I have enough to last me for a while.

I don't know what happened but I truly hope and think that Shimelle will move on to do much better and brighter things. I have been a huge fan of hers for over a decade! I credit Shimelle (and heidi swapp) for teaching me how to scrapbook. Whenever someone asks me how I scrapbook or how to scrapbook I send them Shimelles videos first. I would say that if this is on AC at all they definitely made a very bad business decision. They definitely missed a huge advantage with Shimelle in the teaching aspect of her designs! I just placed a large order of shimelle products to show my support to her! I will follow her...hopefully quickly to pinkfresh or Carta bella!

Dang, this announcement made me so frustrated I figured I better wait until morning so I could think over what I said.
I do not understand AC's thinking at all, and this is hugely disappointing!
I actually can work with all of Shimelle's lines, and end up buying a good bit of all of them.
I find Shimelle's lines to be some of the most creative and VERSATILE of all. They work together and I can use them for so many entirely different things. Her lines have a different level of creativity and imagination (and are not overly gendered)!
I certainly hope another company who sees more value in creativity will pick her up. So sad and frustrating.

I have at least doubles of all that line, and probably triples. I just find her lines so easy to use and the layouts I make with her papers are typically my favorites!

Sparkle city is the basis of my dog’s album. I was so stoked to get another project pad at Tuesday Morning in The Before. My LSS carries Shimelle’s lines and I’ve always been glad to see them. Even if the A side is too extra, she has fantastic B sides.
On a design note, we couldn’t be more different. However, Shimelle is ALWAYS in my head when I’m figuring out layers and clusters. Her design principles are 👌🏻

Thanks for popping by shimelle . If I tried, I'd not be able to adequately express what your Glitter Girl videos, other YTs and classes have meant to me. You are a spirit of kindness, fun, silliness, and joy. I wish you SO well and will support you for as long as you put out product in paper crafting/digital/classes.

Shimelle, you are an extremely talented lady and an original. I have no doubt at all you will go on to follow your own artsy paths wherever that takes you and I, for one, am excited to see where you go after this. People like you whose souls live in art and creativity don’t stop being who they are when a company changes direction. They can’t stop because the art comes from within. They carry on, bringing joy and beauty to the world.
To the future and to whatever comes your way next. I hope you will continue to share your journeys and inspirations with us, wherever the road takes you.

You are one of the very few Scrapbook "Celebs"(I hate to use that word, it feels odd) that interact with us regular old scrapbookers as if it where nothing. I will continue to follow wherever yours and Wonder Boys adventures take you!!
