I think it depends on mask wearing norms in your area.
My kids don’t wear masks for anything at home, but we came to Universal Studios, where they’re required, and planned 2 per person per day.
If we hadn’t made this trip, I wouldn’t have a need for this many masks.

DH and I have 2 fabric masks each. I'd like another couple, but what we have is sufficient for what we need. For us, it isn't a case of being willing - we have to if we want to travel on public transport or go shopping.

I think it will depend on how often people need to go out and whether masks are necessary. DH is back to work and needs to have a mask every day so I'm making enough to last at least one workweek with spares. Two of my kids haven't gone out at all so they need far less than DH. I go out to buy necessities and have about 4. I'm making them and eventually plan on everyone having at least enough to last the week. For youngest DS, I will make sure he has enough to last at least two weeks with a box a disposables handy as I'm sure he won't be doing laundry regularly.

It's hard to answer because it really depends on where you go and what you do. My daughter has to wear one for about 30 seconds every time she goes to swimming, so we issue her one per week for that. But any time we have to run any other errands, we use it once and then wash. Having some extras on hand make sure that we always have clean ones. We also have some bandanas for "just in case." I had ordered a dozen of them right before quarantine because we had planned on trialing an activity for my summer camp. Well, we cancelled the trial run as well as the camp, so I had a dozen brand new bandanas. None of us prefer them to a mask, but it's good to have them on hand.

It's just my husband and I.
I have 6 masks. I wear one each day at work and take them home on Friday to wash and bring back for the next week. I have to wear a mask any time i leave my desk at work. And I keep the 6th one in my purse, in a bag, in case of stopping at a store.
My husband also has 5 masks that he keeps at work to wear and brings them home about every 2 weeks to wash and bring back. He doesn't have to wear a mask, but puts one on when he is going to be around too many people. He has one at home for going to the store.
It's my understanding that it doesn't do much good to keep wearing the same mask if all the germs stay in it all the time.

We are a family of 5 and I’m embarrassed to admit how many we have. Part of the issue was that I had the problem with my initial orders being both cancelled and delayed so I kept ordering. But now we can keep some in our cars and there are certain styles I do not like so I can probably get rid of those. I feel like I have such a variety I can match my clothes😜

We're all over the board around here. I have one mask and use it more times than I should between washings.....I'm currently on the hunt for a few more. ODS wears the disposable dust masks when he has to wear one (rarely). Dh has a scarf/wrap/shamog(?) thing he wears when he has to (rarely). Yds has probably 20 masks (MIL's friend has a thing about making kids masks and keeps sending them over ), he hasn't worn any of them, on the 2 occasions he's gone out he's worn a wrap like dad.

We currently have five people in our home. We each have two fabric masks, then I have a supply of disposable masks - both surgical and N95 style. I prefer the disposable over the fabric ones, both for comfort and cleanliness, but I’m rationing and making them last as long as possible as well.
If all four of my kids are in a classroom setting in the fall (two high school and two college) I’ll stock up on more fabric masks. We’re testing different styles out and seeing what we like.

I made about 18 masks, plus we have 4 P99 reusable with filter masks. There are 4 of us, plus my brother currently.
DD has not been away from home. The 3 boys have been out 2 different times. Usually it is just me going out or me & DH (3x). (DH is not used to staying home, but I can't trust him to shop alone.)

We have 3 a piece and use them for a day, then wash. I have access to disposables at work, so I usually wear those during the day.

We are a four member family and have 17 fabric masks plus a few bandanas.
DD was given one at work (with company logo) and the rest were bought. We tried a few different designs to find what works best for us and have 8 that gets used regularly and the rest gather dust.
Masks are put in a laundry bowl when people come home so all are washed and dried every night.

DH and I both drive. We have one cloth mask each in case we go somewhere we need one. Oldest DS has to take a city bus to work so he has two cloth ones. We also have a small amount of disposable ones we can use if needed. We are really just not going places we need to wear them for the most part.

We have a wide range of mask use for our family of 4. We all have to have one for church when we are not seated in our seats.
DH has some that he keeps on hand for running errands and now for wearing while not in his office at work.
I have a couple in my purse for running errands & in a couple of weeks for wearing during DS15's baseball games (ugh).
DS15 has several because he has to wear one during baseball practice & will have to wear one when not actively playing in a game (ugh).
DS12 only has one mask because he rarely goes anywhere where he needs one. So far just church and a few medical appointments.

Family of 7 - everyone except the 1 yr old has one right now, but we are still not going out that much. Dh and my oldest will need a stack of them when school (hopefully) starts in August and I will probably make the rest of us some extras too.

I ordered one for everyone from Etsy (6) but we don't go out much... different styles and patterns, we'll see which kind we like when they get here and then I might try to copy and make some more. We also have some N 95's that were in the garage.

I think it'll depend.
I sent my son 8 masks - he has to wear at work everyday and he does laundry in an apartment complex laundry room so I wanted him to have a week's worth plus one to wear while doing laundry.
My girls have one each - DD20 has used when packing up her dorm room, when dropping off a card to a graduating friend, and when answering the door (USPS, UPS, Fedex) -she's not going anywhere. DD13 has used hers only when answering the door. I'll make them more if needed.
DH has several -he wears for work everyday and then for running errands.
I have two - I only wear for grocery shopping once a week and for answering the door.
But other than DH - we're still staying safer at home. I'll increase the masks if we start venturing out more.

Since I’ve been making them, we have an unlimited supply!
We don’t wear any around the house or outside within our own yard.
We do each carry one if we go on a walk, bike ride, or if neighbors are outside chatting—we might not be wearing it when we start out but gave them in case we encounter anyone we chat with.
We ALWAYS have one for each family member in the car in case we need it. If any of us go to a store (rarely—and kids stay home or in car with adult) we are still only going to the grocery every 2 weeks, pharmacy for curbside when necessary, and occasionally will order out (not even once a week anymore).
Hubby carries a zip bag with at least 10-12 for himself—he changes them if he gets dirty, wet or sweaty or after lunch at work which goes into a separate dirty laundry bag. Brings the bag home when all are dirty or at end of week.
He carries another bag with about 2 dozen more which he hands out to co-workers.
I always have one for me by the front door (deliveries or pick ups) snd one or 2 in my bag.
When people get them from me, I suggest they get 3 per family member so that the always have a clean one.

2 adults, 2 kids. We have 3 fabric (me, 8 year old. 4 year old) and 1 N95 (dh). When school starts, I have been told to expect that I will wear a mask in my classroom (so I'll need at least 5) and my 8 year old CAN wear one if she chooses according to school. She's already told me she plans to wear one... so 5 for her as well. I'm waiting until we get closer to school starting before I make them tho since things are constantly changing. I did buy 10 yards of elastic since we have tie ones right now and they're a pain in the butt with long hair.

DH and I each have one mask, and I keep a spare hanging from my rear view mirror just in case I'm out and need one - I put it in the car after I went to the gas station and the credit card machine outside was broken so I had to go inside and I didn't have a mask on me. We alternate weekly grocery shopping trips, so each of us only leaves the house every 14 days. Once mask each is sufficient for us right now while I'm teleworking, I'll be making some more for myself if I have to go back to work in the office before there's a vaccine.

I have 7, but I don't use 2 of them-- they are a tad too heavy.
I keep one in the car and one in my purse for when I visit a store that requests or requires them. The others are ... around. My office is still mostly wfh so I haven't needed them much.

I made a bunch for various people and kept my “prototypes”. So about 20 for two of us. I wear them once, then wash.

I'm not even sure how many we have right now. Three adults (me, dh and dd 20). I think we probably have around ten reusable masks, plus I ordered a couple more online the other day and I think dd did also.
We also have some disposable masks that I already had on hand long before COVID 19. I gave most away to a nurse when this started, but kept a few for us until we were able to get some cloth masks. Until about two weeks ago, dh was the only one really going anywhere (work0 except I would go to the grocery store. But dd is back at work today and needs them and she has been visiting two friends since we've been allowed. I'll still be working at home for some time likely but do go to out to get groceries and might try eating out and getting my hair done in the next few weeks now that we can. We'll see though.

I agree that it depends on how often you go out and where you are going. DH uses the same mask all week because he only wears one between the parking lot and his office. He has his own office and conference room and all meetings are done by VTC. But if he had to wear one all day, I’d say one for the morning and one for the afternoon, each day. There isn’t any AC in his office, so they would get sweaty.
I only go out once a week or once every other week, so I wash one and have the other in my purse. When DD flew over here, she had 6 masks and switched them out every 4 hours or so.
