She was the same age as my youngest - 17. No, it wasn't her idea to have a COVID party - her parents took her to a large church party, where masks were not worn and distancing not attempted, on purpose despite the fact that she is immunocompromised. (Another article I had read said that the purpose of the party was to infect everyone with COVID to gain immunity, but this article does not state that. Unclear.) Then they treated her with unproven, Trump-touted drugs. When that didn't work, they took her to the hospital, but refused intubation until it was too late. She died.

This poor Florida child is dead because :
1- She was allowed (compelled?)by her parents to attend a large church party unmasked and without social distancing in the midst of a raging pandemic.
2- Her reportedly anti-vax parents, who inexplicably are both HCW, chose to treat her with unproven Trump-touted meds at home as she was dying.
3- GOP Florida Gov. Rick DeSantis, like TX GOP Gov. Greg Abbott, has exempted religious gatherings and houses of worship from data-driven occupancy limitations.
In Florida, as in TX churches can do whatever they choose : singing, spewing Covid-19, hugging, shaking hands all of it. And dont even get me started on those congregations that still serrve from a common cup...
4- We are in the midst of a raging Covid-19 pandemic that has not just been mishandled, it has been enabled and in fact accelerated, by the GOP leadership’s anti-science hubris and willful ignorance.
127,000 Americans have died of Covid-19 in the past 4 months.
I am on the front lines here in Texas.
About 3-4 weeks ago we started seeing a major uptick in Covid-19 cases among infants, babies, school-aged kids and teens.
I am now seeing newborns who had to be separated from their Covid+ mothers immediately at birth.
Our office call volume of parents, grandparents etc. saying “the daycare /camp called because my child has been exposed -what do I do?” has exploded.
The fact that any resident summer camps are still open during this raging, deadly pandemic is beyond irresponsible – on the part of the camp owners and parents- it is unethical and recklessly negligent. 
The same applies to restaurant owners & faith leaders.
Please indulge me as I scream this for the one millionth time for those parents, pastors, camp owners, restaranteurs etc who are sheepishly looking at their feet while counting their $$ in the back row : 
CHILDREN GET COVID-19
CHILDREN GET MIS-C
CHILDREN SPREAD COVID-19
THERE IS NO MAGICAL COVID-FREE BUBBLE
Your hubris, selfishness, entitlement, greed and ignorance WILL KILL PEOPLE.

That is unacceptable overt misogynist bias.

*This child had 2 PARENTS.*
Apparently the FATHER was a PA.
He.was.there.too.
For ALL of it.
