Please stay out of Florida, for your sake and ours. Just be happy and make your own magic or whatever in your state. What is the urgency, I just don't get it.

I didn’t pay for any of it, actually. It was free and still wasn’t worth it. what, did you win some kind of "Travel to Disneyland!" kind of lottery or something? There was a family wedding in California. I didn’t want to go. My parents bribed me with a side trip to Disneyland for my household. I discovered I need the Disney bubble and it doesn’t exist in California. The cast members didn’t compare to the ones in Florida. The rides kept breaking down. The people were rude. It sucked.

If I go out, anywhere it is to have a good time. I can’t imagine much of a good time in the hot sun, wearing a mask, having to social distance and even worry about what I’m touching etc. Been there, done that Disney experience in better times. I am not that desperate that I need to go there again in the near future.

I'm not going anytime soon but I would say it's probably the safest time to go. No crowds, lots of distancing, everything super cleaned, every ride you can get on. BUT hell no I am not stepping a foot in Florida. If you can transport to the front gates of Disney and drop me in, maybe I would go. But getting there might be deadly.

There fixed it for you. I guess that must be why we prefer Disneyland. We are into being happy. Personally, I can’t be happy without the magic and we found DisneyLand severely lacking in any kind of magic. We hated it. Exactly how we felt about Disney World. It’s way too big, too impersonal, and the things we love about Disneyland are spread out among too many parks at Disney World. All the travel we had to do was exhausting. It was far from magical. We won’t be back.

I will agree, if I were an AP holder and lived locally, yeah I would go. I wouldn’t go with anyone else outside of my house and we would stay home afterward but I would go for the day and ride all the damn rides I could.

I'll be the first to say that I am actually blown away that WDW decided to open in the midst of worsening COVID conditions in Florida. It really IS all about the $$$ at the "happiest place on earth." :/ same and really surprised the Governor allowed this to happen.

Yeah Florida in July? Ugh. Even without Covid, no way but definitely not with the numbers of cases they are posting.

I enjoy Disney World. Not enough to visit once a year (I've been 5 times in the last 30 years and two of those trips were to chaperone a middle school band...) and certainly not enough to visit during a world wide pandemic.
That being said - I do agree that it looks as if the risk has been mitigated fairly well once you are actually in one of the parks. Around here people seem to be pretending COVID19 doesn't exist.

As various people on twitter have pointed out...Disney World is opening but their corporate offices remain closed. Priorities!

I swear I think I caught Covid at Disney in November. I know they say it wasn't here yet but I was very sick for 2 solid months. No one was checking for Covid at that time. I am jealous of the people that are there but I wouldn't chance it myself.

We are huge Disney World fans and try to get there every two years. Our last two trips have been July 2019 and 2017. Thank goodness we got there last year. We are in Australia so it's hugely expensive so more often is difficult. I can't believe, with the numbers that Florida is recording at the moment, that anyone is considering travelling to Disney World. It's not an option for us. I can't begin to think when we might be able to travel to the US again. But it just doesn't make sense why people are not looking at the bigger picture.
I see the temptation. I've been watching the Youtube videos and seeing the non existent lines. I'd love to just walk onto Flight of Passage. But it's just not worth it. I see Disney World has been just about the last theme park to open in Florida, almost a month later than some of them. I do wonder how they are making anything. It must cost a mint to run the parks for a day, and crowds are really small.

Disney World closed March 15th when there were 100 Covid cases in Florida and 3000 cases in the US. Now Florida is getting 15K per day.
I just don’t even know what to do with that.
FTR, Disney seems like the 7th Circle of Hell at the best of times.

I just don’t understand the Disney love. My DD has been to Tokyo & Paris Disneyland, but they were school trips. I got out of the Tokyo trip, because I had surgery the next day. Wasn’t as lucky with Paris, and honestly, I think I preferred surgery over that craziness. Throw in a side order of raging Covid in Florida, and it really is the 7th circle of hell in my mind.

Does a Disney thread always have to devolve into people stating how awful they think Disney vacations are? It just feels so mean-spirited.

We did our last family trip to Disney in 2015 and told the kids that the next trip would be after Star Wars Land opened. (That's what we called it back then.) We knew that would be after DS entered college but we all agreed to wait that long so we could visit other places in the interim. We've talked about it and planned for it for years. That trip would have/should have been this Christmas. It hasn't come up one time since March. I can't imagine any place I want to visit less (the Lake of the Ozarks maybe?) during a global pandemic than Disney World. DS had two friends accepted to the Disney college program this fall which Disney canceled last week. That in and of itself should say something about how safe it is.

I know my idea of vacation would not be a lot of people’s cup of tea. I can’t pass by any brown historical sign in any country without wanting to stop. I don’t like exercising outdoors, but I’ll hike 3 miles thru the woods to see obscure Roman villa remains/Great Buddha/ Civil War battlefield.

I loathe having to take a bus or a boat between parks. I just remember hearing a lot of cranky little kids being screamed at by their equally cranky parents. I'll stick to the original.

I saw in the news last night that if FL was a country of its own, it would be #4 in most covid behind India and Brazil! (I can't remember the other one). That is seriously fucked up. The US is #1, then India, Brazil, and Florida would be #4 if it were a country as to Disney - NO NO NO HELL to the NO! Orlando is a hot mess right now and Florida as a whole is even worse. Stay home PLEASE stay home

Going to Disneyland (or Disney World) has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, and I'm sure I'll still be dreaming about going when I'm on my deathbed. But there is no way I would be going to to Florida (of all places!) and certainly not Disney World in the middle of a pandemic. Peeps be crazy.

We have reservations to stay at Fort Wilderness campground at the end of August. We will go to the campground as long as they don't close down. We don't have to be close to people there and the parking spaces are separated by foliage. As to going to the park? We are content to just stay at the campground a lot of the time. The point is to be away from home. We are annual passholders and Fort Wilderness is one of our favorite campgrounds so we go there a few times during the year.

We are huge Disney fans, passholders, and have family who have been cast members. Some of my girls have done The College Program and Professional Internships.
The reopening has definitely soured us on WDW. I fully understand they are a business whose function is to make money. However. Their own internal rules have the stated #1 priority as Safety before all else. They have violated their own priority to reopen.
Especially egregious to me is that they originally did not intend to require guests to wear masks and only did so due to union negotiations. Also repellent was the video they put out last week all about the cast members being happy little Stepford staff soooooo eager to go back "home." It deeply pissed me off to the point where I cancelled our passes.
