Leigh Anne Tuohy posted her trip to DisneyWorld today on her Instagram stories. I love Disneyland but would NEVER in a million years go right now. That being said, her showing how empty it was made me totally jealous. I love those empty park days and they rarely happen anymore.

My niece works at Disney World. Does she work in a park? I am wondering what staff thinks of opening right now and how it went for them.

I love all things Disney and I still wouldn’t go. I think all of Florida is the seventh level of hell right now and you couldn’t pay me to go.

We were planning to go to DisneyWorld in March after a conference I was scheduled to attend. The conference was cancelled and we debated whether or not we should cancel the DisneyWorld trip/tickets. We ended up postponing our trip in March and rescheduled for October. Then, about a month or so ago (give or take a few weeks because my concept of time is totally jacked), Disney cancelled the Halloween activities and some of the other events and experiences we’d signed up for. Once that happened, rather than postpone again, we opted to just cancel. If we want to go back later, we’ll reschedule a new vacation from scratch. The only reason we were going to go was because I was already going to be in Orlando and it was at the time of ds’s spring break. Don’t get me wrong, I love DisneyWorld and I haven’t been in about 15 years, so we were kind of looking forward to it. Once it became too complicated and we had to postpone and reschedule all kinds of stuff, we decided it wasn’t the right time to go.

I know. Just because I am so curious though, I am going to have the antibody test as soon as it is safe to get out again. I really don't understand why scientists are so convinced of no cases in America before December though. Covid was raging in November and December in Wuhan. Disney is full of international travelers. I did find this article. www.globaltimes.cn/content/1187609.shtml

We have reservations to stay at Fort Wilderness campground at the end of August. We will go to the campground as long as they don't close down. We don't have to be close to people there and the parking spaces are separated by foliage. As to going to the park? We are content to just stay at the campground a lot of the time. The point is to be away from home. We are annual passholders and Fort Wilderness is one of our favorite campgrounds so we go there a few times during the year. This sounds like the only way to go.

With 15,000 new cases of COVID in one day would be enough to keep me away. I can’t believe they were foolish enough reopen in the first place.

If there was community spread in the US in November well before social distancing, cases would have exploded exponentially much earlier. The antibody test while interesting does not pin point when you had it. So, if you test positive there’s no way to know if you had it in November when you were sick vs April, May or June and were asymptotic.

Yes, I am watching the studies on that. It may very well be too late and I will never know. I sure wish I did though. If it was the flu, it was unlike any flu I had ever had and it lasted longer than any flu I had ever had. At the time, I went to the doctor twice and neither doctor flu tested me. They just assumed I had flu.

So has my family. I also would be very surprised if I was asymptomatic. I have been Type I Diabetic for many years. I did not mean to derail the OP so back to that, I would not chance visiting myself, but I see the appeal. It will probably be the only time ever again that the crowds will be so light.

WDW wasn't on our radar this year as we usually go about every 4 years and it's only been 2 (plus the guys say they're "over Disney" ) but I might go if we already had planned to. If it were in any other state (or Florida wasn't so ridiculous right now) we'd probably go. Based on the pics/videos/chatter I've seen on social media WDW is taking this very serious. Crowd levels are unbelievably low, cleaning is way high, they're enforcing masks and have made many other changes. I'd feel safer going there than, say, Walmart. The state of Florida gives me pause, however. It’s hard to say how much of that is WDW being careful, and people just not plain wanting to go at this point, so there is nothing for them to have to be careful about. A la the Tulsa rally.

Disneyland. One word. Lowercase L. That is true. I don’t like the way it looks, just like I don’t like anything else about that place 🤣 It probably didn’t like you very much either. 😜

Uh pretty sure #1 would be the USA I think she is referring to the graphs that break out each US state to compare to the other countries (that's how bad the US is - individual states are worse than most countries. Awesome).

Uhm, no. Disneyland Paris is open too but even here in Europe, where the virus is (currently!) much more under control I would not go.

Does a Disney thread always have to devolve into people stating how awful they think Disney vacations are? It just feels so mean-spirited. It's odd isn't it! I think because it's such a full-on very specific experience rather than a more generic holiday/vacation people that who don't like Disney just can't picture themselves doing it. If one person said I'm going to Mexico but you preferred the Caribbean it wouldn't evoke such strong emotions because they're not that dissimilar. But it's so far removed from what we enjoy, and from how we would choose to spend our money or vacation time that it does prompt a strong feeling of almost disbelief

I've never been to Disney. Would like to go at some point but not during a pandemic. My issue is Disney is open and people are flying in to go. Then they go home. Who knows if they're bringing the virus w/ them or not. So here you are, your state is doing "ok" then BAM a spike in cases and everything is being shut down again. I don't know why people would take that chance. It just dumbfounds me.

Yeah, those ladies are assholes. I don’t follow them, but this story popped up in my google news feed. If the one lady was having an allergic reaction bad enough that she was vomiting she should have been seeking treatment, not just taking a Benadryl. I don’t believe for a second that is what was happening though. Shame on them.

I absolutely love Disney World. We were supposed to go in June. I'm hoping we will be able to go next year. I definitely don't want to go now. Way too scary and it would be a watered down experience.

Wow, I'm so naive. That never entered my mind but yep that would be a brilliant business move on Disney's part.

As much as I’d love a return trip to WDW with the grands, there is no way in hell I’d go in the summer and have to wear a mask. I’m miserable enough (too hot!) just wearing a mask at the grocery store. No thanks! I’ll wait till the pandemic is over and we can go in the cooler months.

No way I'd go anywhere near a park right now...especially one in Florida. Also, NY would make us quarantine for 2 weeks when we get back from Florida.
