nylene I love that polka dot background and those flowers! 😍 joblackford I haven’t done a separate virus project, but I am really struggling with how to scrap life now. Everything is virus related! I’m so far behind I’m just focusing on scrapping what I’m inspired to and worry about 2020 in a few years. Yes! Even working 6 weeks behind my perspective was totally different than if I'd been writing a daily journal. Well, actually I did, in another place, which I used as a basis for the documenting I did, but it was all colored by hindsight. In a couple of years this period will look totally different, depending on how this thing pans out. Scrapping what inspires you and speaks to you right now makes a lot of sense.

Here's my card for today. I decided to combine two of my favorite techniques -- ombré ink blending and emboss resist. It also gave me a chance to play with the new Concord & 9th inks and cardstock I purchased last month during the release. The inks blended beautifully!! All the details about the products I used are on my blog.

nylene - your flowers look beautiful! CoffeeCrafter - your card looks amazing! joblackford - I wish I had been better about journaling my thoughts during all this. Like everyone, I was all over the place and at this point I couldn't begin to piece it together accurately.

Here's my latest. VERY simple. I need to add some journaling, though. I'm not crazy about how some of the leaf stems aren't covered up better, but it's all good.

CoffeeCrafter very cute! I keep admiring hexagons on layouts so I need to get a punch or something and try some of my own! KikiPea I really like that floral paper. I don’t really see any stems but I understand how it is when you (the crafter) see something that bugs you. Beautiful layout!

I almost forgot to share the virus diaries page I made this past weekend. (BTW If you approve of the current US president's handling of things you might want to scroll on by. I really don't want to rile anyone up but this is my journal!) August by jo.blackford, on Flickr I had printed this article from vox a long time ago - it was written 2 months in - but it summed up what was going on and how I viewed the White House response, so I wanted to include as much as possible. So I chopped it up and rearranged it (moderately coherently) to express the gist of the article. My friend Ingunn on IG gave me the title idea when we were talking about that overused UNPRECEDENTED times, and she joked that I was spelling it wrong, a joke I have now stolen and run with! and the conclusion of the article was that the response was a failure, so... I used the last of my KP alpa sticker Ns to make the title. Surprisingly I ran of Ns on 4 sheets of stickers before running out of A E T or S. I'm probably going to leave this page very stark, to contrast with the more personal stuff, but I might add a thin black freehand border just to reign the page in. I promise the next page I share will be more crafty and somewhat less political.

joblackford - I love your play on words and how you kept this so "stark" it suits the article. KikiPea - That's a gorgeous layout! I wouldn't have noticed leaf stems if you didn't mention them

KikiPea I also didn’t notice the bits that were bothering you, but totally understand the feeling - it’s hard to see anything else as the creator. CoffeeCrafter I’m a sucker for ombré and resist and doodle designs, and I have some similar backgrounds I made which I REALLY need to turn into cards. Your bee card is adorable too - I love bees and I have a bunch of bee-themed stuff on my wishlist. You’re making me want to pop them in my cart.

3 page layout for my sons 11th birthday a couple years ago. Based on a 2 page sketch for the Allison Davis class. I just added a third page to keep all the birthday pages cohesive. Next a few pages for my Yellowstone/Little House trip two summers ago. I only have 10-12 pages to go so this put a nice dent in that. The Evening on the Prairie layout is based on a future sketch for the Allison Davis class as well. Sorry, I’m already a bit behind and working backwards I like the big blocks of patterned paper in the prairie layout! My fav is the constellation paper. Perfect with your evening photos, which look gorgeous. I have watched a few of Allison Davis’ sketch videos on YT, I think. She seems to have some great ideas. Ooh, Little House and Yellowstone? I wish I could be there now, exploring... That should be fun to work on. Great colors on the birthday 3-pager - looks like lots of fun!

No card making time for me yesterday, unfortunately. I made the decision to rejoin Stampin' Up as a demonstrator on Tuesday, so my normal crafting time yesterday was spent getting my online store and such all set up. Never fear, I was back at my craft desk today after work and created another ombré card. This time I starting by dry embossing the panel instead of heat embossing it before blending on the ink. I finished with it a simple heat embossed sentiment on vellum. Full details can be found on my blog.

We live in the Midwest so we flew out to Yellowstone and rented a car and drove home. We spent 3 nights in Yellowstone and then hit up Mr Rushmore, the Badlands, and De Smet SD where several of the Little House books take place. It was an amazing family trip that I will cherish forever especially now with travel restrictions and who knows when we’ll do another trip like that. I fell in live with the constellation paper and purposely saved it for these pics. The blocked background means I have some scraps left. CoffeeCrafter again I love the ombré!

CoffeeCrafter your cards are beautiful! I love those soft colors! That digital stamp is awesome! Both the coloring, and the sentiment! I really like those bd cards! And I love love love the dry embossed one! You and joblackford make me want to be a card maker lol. Good luck with Stampin’ Up! KikiPea omg such gorgeous layouts! I love your way with clusters! You’ve been really busy, so I’m glad you are on my team hehe schroema great job stretching that sketch to 3 pages. Sadly I am still soooo far behind with that class. And making progress on your Yellowstone album I love those diagonals! joblackford I just love your virus diaries and I’m happy you are continuing. And no, you did not jinx us, my niece did. When she announced “No travel 2020!” for her young family. Every time they travel the kids end up sick. I told her she should have been a little more specific that she meant only no travel for THEM! Lol I really like what you did with that article. I've been collecting those types of things as well. nylene, grammadee, AussieMeg there is love in the gallery! Everyone is so busy already, I need to join in, you are all so inspiring!

Very simple LO inspired by a couple of different sketches: The August sketch/scraplift sketch and one given on ScrapbookNerd where there was a partial sunburst in the upper left corner.

2 page spread of family night! Used more 5th and Monaco, and also used Vicki Boutin art crayons to watercolor the flowers.

I got back to coloring the last couple of days. I had started these cards but ran out of steam to make decisions about coloring and finishing. The story of my life right now! This card is for my friend’s 60th birthday next week. August card by jo.blackford, on Flickr These ones are probably for my shop: August cards by jo.blackford, on Flickr And these ones will probably be donated: August cards by jo.blackford, on Flickr They’re all made using Ella and Viv watercolor patterned papers for the backgrounds, The Ton Transformation stamp gold embossed, and the only 3 alcohol markers I own for coloring - pink yellow and green. The background colors changed the look of the colors and on some of them I added some yellow to make the pink look less like bubblegum and to create some shading on the leaves.

AussieMeg I love that color palette and the diagonal design is very eye catching- I think I’m going to lift that. KikiPea I really like your flower clusters on both pages. I’ve got a couple pages in the works that I’m trying to do flower clusters on and I’m struggling to be happy with them and glue them down 😂 joblackford I love that stamp and what you've done with it. My daughter is a huge butterfly fan. What’s your shop?

The shop is a bit empty lately because I’ve been too tired (or something) to make cards, and CoViD has been fairly good for us online card sellers...

joblackford - Gorgeous cards! That butterfly stamp is amazing. I didn't do nearly as much actual crafting today as I normally would on a Saturday. After making one card this morning, I starting purging quite a bit of older stuff from my craft room that I haven't used in eons. I then spent some time organizing all the new products I've purchased recently. I even rearranged my craft room a bit so the things I use most often are now closest to my craft desk and are within reaching distance. By the time it was all said and done, I spent just over three hours purging, cleaning, organizing, and rearranging. Here's the card I did manage to get made. It uses the Nothing's Better Than stamp set from Stampin' Up. I used the little two-step coffee cup stamp to created my own patterned paper for the background. Full details can be found on my blog.
