Final Update
I just got home from the hospital about two hours ago. I took a 20-minute shower to get the hospital grime off me, put all my clothes in the hamper because they were so gross and came downstairs to an ant-filled (but otherwise clean) kitchen.
I had a gallbladder stone stuck in my pancreas which was giving me pancreatitis. It eventually passed, which was good because at first the doctors expected they needed to give me two surgeries and an MRI. Eventually, though, I had gallbladder surgery on Wednesday in the middle of the morning and they kept me until tonight. Everything went perfectly well once I got out of that hateful ER. Great nurses and doctors and I was very happy with everything.
Here’s a fun question. How much weight do you think I lost? From Sunday morning through this evening, five days, I possibly had 2000 cal. I didn’t eat anything at all from my cereal on Sunday morning until a banana, toast and an apple sauce last night. Today I had a yogurt and grilled chicken and a toast. I did drink maybe four glasses of regular Ginger ale. The answer? Well, if you said I gained 5 pounds then you would be right. The only thing I was thinking when I got out of this was at least I must have lost weight! I don’t know what they put in those IVs, but it must be bad.
I am covered in bruises. My arms look awful and my stomach looks like someone beat me. I don’t think I slept more than three hours any night because people are in and out of the room the whole night. At five in the morning they come to draw blood and there is never more than a two hour period when you aren’t interrupted. I begged to go home last night. They finally said I could go home today once the hospitalist came by and they never knew when she comes by and she came by at 4:30 and then it took another hour for everything to be prepared.
I haven’t had to stay in the hospital since I had my kids, and I don’t ever want to again. I’m a little sad I had to use a week of my vacation for this, and I’m rather expecting that the Year of Red might need to have a part two to it😊.
Thank you for all your help and kind comments
Update 3
So I stayed 4 hours in the hospital last night and it did not look like I was ever going to get back and I was in too much pain to sit up any more, so I called my son to pick me up and I went home. I called at the hospital this morning and asked them to forward the results of my tests to my doctor and I saw my doctor who said I had gallbladder pancreatitis.
She said I needed to get to the hospital right away. She said my only other choice would be to wait at least a week before they went through all the paperwork to get me in somewhere else and that’s not good choice. Now I’ve been at the hospital for five hours. I have been admitted and I’m sitting on the hospital bed in the hallway. First Dr. told me my gallbladder was diseased had to be removed but the next doctor said it would be a good idea to have an MRI. He said not to worry but the MRI was only 1 cm over my nose and I’ll be fine. I do not feel fine.
I am sitting in the hallway freezing. No one is around. And I’m stuck to the hospital bed because I’m on an IV.
They did say they thought I would have to be here overnight but I’m still hoping someone can do this tonight. Unfortunately I know the shift ends in an hour and a half and that will be that🙄
I am very glad I went home last night, because in the pain that I was in I could not do all this. Today my pain has subsided and it is not as awful.
Thanks for all the good wishes. I hope I’m home tomorrow. And also the Peas are the greatest doctors ever! You guys all called it!
Update 2
I didn’t think about the gallbladder. I heard that’s more of a sharp pain. Mine is tightness and cramping.
In an case I made the difficult decision to go to the hospital. I have been here waiting over 3 hours. Wish I stayed home☹️
Update
This does not feel normal. At what point would you go to the hospital?
OK, I’m pretty sure I’m lactose intolerant. I had bowl of cereal with not even a quarter cup one percent milk I am miserable. The pain in my stomach is intense. I am never putting dairy down me again.
I am drinking chamomile tea with ginger in it. What else can I do? I walked around for a while but I can’t do it anymore. Please help.
