Let's get this party started! Here is the first sketch:
I am using, with permission, the April sketch from the Scrap Happy monthly sketch challenges. I liked the layering and the circle.
Here is my take on the sketch:
I combined some VERY old supplies with a new technique I learned this last weekend. The background is a sheet of white cs coloured by daubing TH oxide ink on it with the circular applicator. I wanted the circles to show to give it some depth.
Each SKETCHtember challenge will have a TWIST: for today, a simple one. Use INK in some way other than standard stamping or edging. squeeze some into the lid and use it for water colour. Or apply ink directly to paper. Use an applicator, a piece of paper towel, whatever you think will create the effect you want.
This challenge is open to anyone who would like to take it on. Please share your take on it in this thread. Can't wait to see what you do with it: make the circle whole, cut it off more, make it smaller. Use a different page size, or use the sketch to create a card or some other crafty project. Have fun!
If you are a member of a September TEAM, check out Challenge #1 which will outline how you can earn points for your team by taking on this sketch &/or the twist.
Points: one page created & shared (2). #1 Sketchtember #1 sketch (2) + twist (1) + bonus (5), two photos for Donna challenge (2), #4 metal brad (1), #12 circles (1), #15 spring 2020 photos (1), #26 reading (1), #28 school (1), #31 & 32 (2), #35 spring 2020 (1), #36 VERY old papers and ribbons and brad, but brand new technique with the ink Claiming the bonus! (5), #40 PL card (1), #42 smiling (1), #50 torn edges (1), #55 love these guys (1). Total: 29

grammadee Such a clever idea to make a background with the blending tool. I will have to use that idea sometimes. Love all the circles.

This is a great sketch - right up my alley with circles and room for "dressing up" with clusters!

Here is my take on the sketch. I used the 'A New Normal' kit, which is a The Digital Press design team collaboration.

AussieMeg, that is gorgeous! I will be visiting it in the Gallery. Linda, yours is so striking! Love the red and navy together. And I love how you adapted the 12x12 sketch to the rectangular page! See, nylene, just hang out with Linda and she will figure out a way to use ANY sketch!

grammadee I will admit to being stretched on this one as the layout I created before this also had a large circle in it; and I struggled with that one, too! That being said, it IS a great sketch! I really love how you used the twist in your layout. The faux bokeh looks very real! Thank you for the continued inspiration. AussieMeg Really cute layout and your subject is adorable! I love how you've mixed together so many patterns, but it doesn't look busy or overwhelming! Linda I love your interpretation of the sketch! I agree with grammadee - very striking!! I'm quickly learning that large circular elements are hard for me to visualize into a layout. Eventually I got there, but this was not my first attempt. The original one started with a floral stencil and distress oxide inks. I did not like it, so ditched it and started over. Now that I'm typing this, I realize I forget to include the ink in this layout, lol. Oh, well!

Ryann - I LOVE your interpretation with the circle of flowers - what an awesome adaptation

Awwww, Ryann... I did not mean to cause you stress! Your adaptation of the sketch by using the wreath of flowers is brilliant! And hey, can you mask off the photos and the flowers and spritz it with a bit of ink? Then you can claim the twist, too!

grammadee I like how you positioned your circles to the right, cutting them off! I'm not a huge fan of circles, so this was a challenge for me. I prefer the way you did it! AussieMeg You always seem to have the perfect kit to work with the layouts! I love the way the colors, patterns and pictures work together here. Linda My page wasn't quite what I envisioned either, but sometimes they turn out better than we hoped! I think it works perfectly together for your pictures. Ryann I think the flower wreath looks great! I'm not a circle person either, but over trying to stretch myself. It's usually when I'm most creative and end up loving the pages most.

boymom5, your page is GORGEOUS! Love the stitched circle framed with snowflakes and the fall leaves tucked in! Great contrast in photos. Perfect way to depict an early snowfall. And awesome use of the sketch! I am always blown away by all the different ways to interpret the same sketch!

grammadee & AussieMeg I left you love in the gallery. Well done! Linda I really love the way you adapted this sketch for an 8.5 x 11 layout. The train on the bottom making your top part a square is perfect. Ryann I like the way you adapted the circle with the flower ring. Just beautiful. boymom5 I really like your color choices and your stitching around the circle. Great job! Here's mine. I uploaded to the gallery.

Love that dark woodgrain background, jeremysgirl , with the pretty green floral pp. I like that you and some of the others followed me off the edge of the page. I have to admit that I was more than a little inspired to do this by the KaiserCraft video posted by @kendramage earlier this week on the GS board.

I have to admit that I was more than a little inspired to do this by the KaiserCraft video posted earlier this week on the GS board. I really wanted to show off more of that woodgrain paper. And I didn't have two photos to suit this layout right. So off the page it went.

I was inspired by the floral wreath ryann created on her page for my version. This was such an easy sketch using this background paper.
