I hope your foot heals properly this time, shinyhappytina! Thanks for dropping in. Hope you get to play a bit more with scrapping now that you are home and not moving around as much. Glad you have someone helping you. Not knowing what other tasks your dh takes on every day on a regular basis, I had a little giggle at his being overwhelmed with taking on a few of yours ... joyfulnana, I am glad you had such a wonderful scrappy break. Too bad that your fb room didn't work out on Sunday: we would have loved to have you scrappin' with the Peas! Can't wait to see all your pages from the weekend. Hope that the transition back into work is not too stressful. nylene, I too am wondering about your dgd and the results of her surgery. Hoping it makes a huge difference in her life! I want to put together at least one page today. But I need to go to town to get groceries and the mail. I have been putting off digging carrots until I have some "produce bags" which were not available locally. Amazon to the rescue, and my box of bags arrived at the post office yesterday. Also, it froze here last night, so later today I need to pull out the rest of the corn. (Will get dh to dismantle his fence when he goes out into the yard this morning) So sometime in the next few days, I need to start digging carrots and getting them ready for storage (maybe make a carrot cake or two) and make corn chowder to freeze.

shinyhappytina, (I giggle each time I type that because it is such a great description of YOU) It's nice to see you checking in. I am sorry about the broken foot not healing. I hope the surgical repair and rehab will get you back on your feet permanently. This would be a good time to have your girls around to help if they weren't off being adults. I'm glad you can do a lot of your work from home. You are a busy lady! grammadee, I am so glad they have put you on the surgical list. That means they are taking you seriously and you will get some relief. I wondered if you have a good corn chowder recipe. I just made a big pot of Taco Soup and DH is asking for more soups. We love corn chowder but I haven't made it in ages. I am anxious to try out your zucchini recipe. I am happy that you can get some help with Fall cleaning. I'd like to hire out some heavy cleaning, but I know I would clean it first before they come.LOL That's just me. joyfulnana, I'm glad you learned some new things and ordered new products for scrapping at your Virtual Classes. Too bad the FB didn't work out well. I look forward to Saturday's Hangout. You can show us all the things you learned and accomplished. Have a good week! Our DGD went back to school for the first time today. She has been really sore, but is better each day. The miracle is that she has had no pain with eating since the surgery. She is thrilled. You can even see a change in her countenance, she looks like she's been released from a heavy burden. She has kept up online with school, so won't be behind. I need to get some things done today. We had a leak under the kitchen sink and I need to clean out and reload the cleaning products underneath.

Just checking in on Linda, are you in the path of the hurricane? I've seen pictures of the flooding in Pensacola and it's just terrible. I hope you are all safe and not in the path! shinyhappytina that's awful about your foot. I hope it heals properly this time. But that's great that you are scrapping more! nylene mentioned how she giggles at your username. It always makes me think of Grey's Anatomy and dark, twisty Meredith lol. nylene that's great news about your DGD! What a relief that must be for her! I'm so happy someone was able to help her! grammadee I'm happy YOU are on the surgery list as well! Thinking good thoughts that it all goes well and you are back to your energizer bunny soon after! I would totally pay someone to come clean! You deserve it and as you said, you won't be fretting about it while you are recovering. Well, Rudy started school virtually this week. Kindergarten. He said he has to "take two meetings a day" which are the zoom check in's lol. They have PE and art time, which was surprising to me. Of course, I have no experience with the kids being in school virtually, but so far he is enjoying it and I think he's really enjoying the interaction with his classmates. His bday is Sunday. He'll be 6! I think his parents are planning a low key family day, not the big party he usually gets. Hopefully next year things will be a little more normal as far as socializing goes. With his bday being Sunday, we are still definitely on for a Saturday crop and I'm looking forward to it! I am still trying to get caught up from not being around this weekend. This place was pretty hopping lol.

joyfulnana - I'm not in the path thankfully. We've gotten rain from the outer bands though and have a possible Nor'Easter coming in from the other side this weekend so it's certainly been wet and will continue to be. The flooding is awful - I really feel for those in that area. Glad that Rudy is doing well and enjoying the virtual Kindergarten. Happy Almost Birthday to him! nylene -so glad that your GD is recovering well and that the surgery has helped. grammadee - that garden sure does keep you hopping

Here ya go, nylene: Corn Chowder RecipeMy aunt made me the Quick version several years ago, and I figured out how to adapt it to using up garden produce & preserving it for later eating. I don't know about buying "cream corn" in the US? We have Green Giant brand here, and it is pretty popular.

Thanks for the recipe, grammadee. I think I will try it this winter. I buy creamed corn and usually have it in my pantry. Linda, it's nice to know that you are out of the path of the storm. I'm sorry there is so much flooding. I wish you could send the rain to us to put out the fires. joyfulnana, Happy Birthday to Rudy! I'm glad he's enjoying online Kindergarten. Art at home with Kindergarten sounds interesting. I think the teachers are having to be pretty creative. I'm looking forward to Saturday Hangout. My poor scraproom looks like a tornado blew through. I need to clean it up so I have ANY room to work. That's what happens when I try to scrap every day.

Happy Thursday! We have had some HOT days this week but I think it is almost over. Whew! LOL! I have been scrapping and working on new videos. Here are the pages I did for challenge #10 and #15. Happy Place Layout by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Happy Day Layout by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr I loved making this double pager. It is my first in a long, long time. grammadee, you are the queen of double pages and I see why you like making them so much. shinyhappytina- Great to see ya!!! I hope you are gonna be spoiled and pampered while you recover. Take it easy! grammadee- I really hope this surgery does the trick! I totally get it! Having some house cleaning is a good idea so you can just rest later. That did help me last year when I had my surgery. We are with ya!!! nylene- Oh boy, this smoke is hitting all us western states. It is better here but still a little glooming and sunny at the same time. So happy to hear your dgd is feeling better. Such great news and now she can go back to just being a kid again.

Link Herenylene- Yes, my hair in my layout is that long!!! It was already long but with the quarantine and no hair salon visits, it is extra long! LOL!

Good Monday morning, Pokeys! How are you doing? After a rainy gloomy weekend, the sun is shining this morning. I let the dogs out, and Kandi wanted me to come and play, but I explained to her I am not a good playmate if I have not yet had my coffee! Beautiful page, kellyr21 . Will check it out more closely in the Gallery. Loving that you are scrapping so much these days. Do you feel it energizes you to be a little creative each day? I find that when I am scrapping, one idea leads to another, and my pages or cards go together much more easily. When I have been away from it for just a few days, everything seems more difficult, requires more thought. I don't believe the brain actually works this way, exactly, but I like the old image of right brain/left brain. When I am crafting, my right brain is in charge: it is creative and intuitive and free of worries and restraints. It "knows" what goes together and what pieces and colours and arrangements will create a coherent mood, tell a story. It understands the purpose of PLAY, and it makes the whole process fun. I am not at all athletic, but when my right brain is in charge, it feels like what my kids describe to me about "being in the zone". I come away from one project energized, feeling like I can hardly wait to start the next. My left brain does not do well with play: for it, everything is a JOB that has certain RULES and PERAMETERS. It measures, and compares, and judges every photo, every paper or element choice or placement. It has to find reasons for everything. And when it creates a project, every corner will be square, every line will be straight and parallel to--or at a 90 degree angle with--all other lines on the project, every piece will have a purpose, everything will be "perfect". My left brain thinks it is efficient, but my right brain can scrap faster--and [shhhh... better] pages... I come away tired from a project run by my left brain, discouraged, thinking my project looks like crap. The problem is that I need my left brain to be the parent in my head that reminds me of there IS real work to be done. I think the right brained little girl in me would just stay in here and play forever, never worrying about what we are going to eat today (or all winter if we don't get the garden off), if there is enough money left over after buying all the toys she wants for paying boring bills, or what we will wear now that the laundry is all in the hamper. Can you tell the halves of my brain are fighting right now? My left brain is saying I need to actually start digging carrots. Rightie is saying, okay, but just a couple more pages, first... Puh-leeeease... Hoping to snag interest of old Leftie "we would be caught up with the challenges if we just did two more pages this morning..." Thanks for letting me ramble. My left brain apologizes for wasting your time and mine by typing this. My right brain is thinking "There's a scrapbook page in there somewhere..."

Happy Monday Scrappy Friends! I hope you are all doing well today. I think I'm healing up okay after the surgery. I won't be able to put any weight on my foot for the first 6 weeks, then I'll be in a boot after that. I was scheduled to go to a crop last weekend, then I wasn't sure if I'd feel up to it, but I did...so I went! Olivia (my oldest dd, who is 26) has started scrapping and does planner LO's, so she went with me to help me get around. We had such a nice time and I got a bunch of LO's done. I was in such a creative mood and of course I was happy to see my scrappy friends. We had a massive room for 20 of us, so we were able to spread out enough to feel safe and had a lot of fun. Nylene - I am SO glad that your dgd is feeling better and is able to eat! Olivia used to have horrible stomach issues and it really did affect her mood. She was also always so anxious about eating the wrong thing and having embarrassing stomach issues while she was out with friends. I hope that she continues to heal and have a full recovery. BTW, Olivia just finished her book about her time on Kid Nation. It's called Stronger than you think and is available on Amazon. The show is on You Tube and has been going viral during the pandemic, so we convinced her that it was finally time to finish it and push it out. It went on sale last week, so she's been doing news stories and interviews about it the last couple of weeks. Kelly and Grammadee, I love the pages you are posting! I need to figure out my login info to Flickr, I haven't used it in a long time. Even though I have been working a lot of hours, I do find that I have more time to do the stuff I like to do while we've all been stuck at home. I think the lack of other running around has helped with that, so I love that I have time to scrap more and participate with you all. Joyfulnana - LOL about the Grey's Anatomy reference, I used to love that show. I'm definitely the opposite of dark and twisty. Even though my life has not always been easy and I spend my work days looking at the effects of child abuse, I really try to look at the positive side of things and to focus on what is good in life. I hope you all have a wonderful evening! Tina

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good day. I worked on this TN page today and also prepping for new videos. Joy Today TN Page by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr grammadee- I know what you mean! My parent side and kid side don't always agree either. LOL! But yes, I do feel so good when I am crafting and playing. It is my therapy and joy! shinyhappytina- I am so glad to hear you are recovering well. Hang in there! I used to make cards all the time with a few layouts here and there. But this year, I have been a scrapper. Glad you are joining us here.

so...the homeschool books arrived today, rather sooner than I was expecting as they had said to be prepared for 3-4 weeks wait. I need to talk to DH and decide if we're going to start tomorrow or wait until Monday - there are pros and cons both ways. I'm excited but a little nervous (esp. about algebra). DD is very excited - I hope that lasts once she starts working on it and realises that she's not going to love every assignment.

shinyhappytina, I see you have found your Flickr spot. Thanks for the comments from you there. Hope to see some of your scrappy creations soon! And of course hoping that foot continues to heal. nylene, hoping you are not having another health crisis, or an internet/cimputer malfunction, and that you are simply busy. Hoping to hear from you soon! kellyr21, I am loving all of your positive messages and affirmations. Sarcasm has always run deep in our family, and I need positive statements to replace the soundtrack in my head, sometimes. When have you decided to start the switch to full home schooling, Linda? I am sure you will be able to navigate through it and to be a huge support for her. You have been super productive with the sketches! I am now all caught up except for today's. Decided to take this morning to work on my card samples for CARDtober. That way they will all be ready, in case I get the call to go in for surgery. Have the samples made and the challenges figured out. I still need to photograph the cards. I think I will put the photos into a word document with the challenges so I can email it to someone to sub in for me if I am not able to post on "my" day. My gut is not being kind to me this week. Had a terrible day yesterday. Ingested nothing but Cheerios with skim milk, chicken noodle soup with crackers, and tea. Took an Atavan last night to help me sleep and give my gut a chance to relax. Woke up this morning feeling much better, but the pain is sneaking up on me again. May need to lie down with a hot pack again for awhile. Grrrrr.....

grammadee - I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. ((((Hugs))) I hope the hot pack helps. I submitted my 'intent to homeschool' form this morning and emailed her teachers/principal. The first is required, the second wasn't but I wanted to make sure they knew I appreciated all of their hard work. We'll start tomorrow - DD13 is excited - I hope that lasts. Not sure how much scrapping time I'll get - irc from when I was homeschooling DS27 for 4-6th grade (some eons ago), once we got settled in, there were things he could work independently on and DD13 is a much more independent learner than he was.

grammadee, I am sorry you are suffering! I hope they get you scheduled for surgery soon. Take it easy and use the hot packs. You have been dealing with this WAY too long. I think I am just scrapped out! I still have a couple more CC photos to get on a page and then I need to take a break. We are planning a weekend away starting tomorrow. We are just going to our hometown for a few days. We don't know what we will do, but we both need a break. I know that DH feels caged because he can't even get in the car and drive somewhere without a driver. I can at least do that. I have a lot of things to do to get ready to leave, so will have to catch up when we get back. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Popping in to say hi... grammadee, sorry that darn GB is plaguing you. Fingers crossed for a quick surgery date. nylene - enjoy your escape days! linda - You sound so dedicated to your daughter's education! If I were homeschooling, I'd be way too relaxed. "eh, not feeling like school today, let's go out"... and that's exactly why we didn't homeschool my dd was studying for a chemistry test last night, and her preferred mode of studying is for me to quiz her, and she then "teaches" me about the subject when I don't understand. Quantum. Theory. Chemistry. My head hurt all day today... but I am definitely smarter Good luck! Take care everybody!

nylene - enjoy kitbop - Chemistry? That's beyond me for sure. DD13 is pretty dedicated to her own education - she was happy when I told her that if she didn't get all her maths problems right she would have to re-do them (goal is mastery) - she said that's so much better than school where if you get it wrong, you just lose points and still don't understand it.

So sweet that your dd is so excited to work with you, Linda. Good luck with everything! Have a wonderful trip, nylene. I am sure it will do wonders for you and dh to get out of the house! Hope you get to visit with family members, even at a distance. Thanks for your well wishes. I am feeling not too bad today after being REALLY careful with what I put into my mouth the last couple of days. I made and froze my corn chowder yesterday, and dh enjoyed a couple of bowls of it for supper, but I was afraid to do more than take a little taste. It is one of my favourite soups, so hoping that at some point after my surgery I will be able to enjoy it again. Am caught up on the sketches up to and including Tuesday, but I fell into a Christmas card rabbit hole yesterday, and it will be really hard to dig out of it... Doesn't help that this room is in utter chaos, with Christmas goodies over top of School papers on top of Fall scrapping supplies... And in a few minutes I need to go out and dig another couple of buckets of carrots from the garden. I hear dh readying himself to head outside. Gotta go!

Hey there everyone. It feels like I haven't posted in this thread for a lonnnng time. Seeing so many of you every weekend, makes me feel like I've posted lol. grammadee everything you said about your brain makes perfect sense to me. Only I shush my right brain little girl and don't let her play as much as I should. I got one sketch done during the hangout and have plans for two more. If I can get them done in time that will be 5 of the sketches besides my samples and that's probably the most I've ever done in one month in my life! LOl. I love Sketchtember, but I'm like nylene and starting to feel a little scrapped out. But I enjoyed being so productive so I hope to bring a little more of that into October. I hope everyone is doing well, I've GOT to get to the sharing thread and try to catch up on commenting. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I have noticed lots of us are scrapping older photos lately. I know I am. How is DS doing? Is he still in VA? Are you able to video chat with him? (assuming you aren't visiting in person) Thanks for asking. Yes - still in VA. He calls several times a week and the last couple of weeks, we've included him in our weekly game night via facetime. We used the phones two weeks ago and it worked well but hard to see. Used a laptop this week - easier to see but hard to hear. DD20 was surprised to get an Amazon package today - he sent her a usb mike for the laptop - should help with the sound issue. We were supposed to visit in July but it got cancelled. Hoping for a Christmas visit but honestly don't think it'll happen.
