Hello to: grammadee , boymom5 , gramma , ComplicatedLady , sleepingbooty, joblackford , teacherlisa , jeremysgirl , lucyg , azcrafty , tuesdaysgone , natscraps , gmcwife1 , nylene , destined2bmom, lynnek. Honestly, September is the month that most conflicts me. I am a Summer gal. September is the harbinger of fall and then winter and when the leaves start to turn I truly feel a pain. But September is a LOVELY month weather wise here, and I should be loving it. And back to school - so hard to give up the relaxed break of the summer. I'm a parent who always loved having the kids off school. And soooo different this year! I have 1 doing part-time in person (high schools have split the kids into 2 groups to lessen the crowding), 1 doing virtual college. Sketchtember kinda breaks the conflict for me. Tips September over to the "positive" side of things. If only I can take good advantage of the boost to my mojo! So welcome to September everyone! Here we can chat and ask any questions, support/encourage!

Two great sketches already posted for September! I'm having a hard time working today when I really want to play. I love September and October. They are my favorite months. Weather wise I just love it. Warm days, cool nights. Sunshine but not too hot. Wearing actual pants again. I can't wait to get started. I have no plans this evening so I might clear my workstation off my desk and scrap yesterday's layout. I know exactly what papers I want to use and which photo. So there's that. I'm excited so many are playing during Sketchtember. Honestly, it's my favorite challenge month. I nearly always start with a sketch. Thanks for the thread kitbop! Now let's go get them, team!

Thanks kitbop! I love September! I know and understand why it’s not your favorite; but I love the crisp air and fall colors where I live! I also love that it is a start to the holidays! I love the two LOs that you and grammadee created. And I have read all 44 points. I am looking forward to being on your team and seeing everyone’s creations.

Welcome to the team, DIVA's and welcome to September! We have alot of newbies this month. Hoping you will jump in with any questions you might have. jeremysgirl you are quite the recruiter! Now all we have to do is play with paper and have FUN! September has always been a busy month for me. When I was an instructor, we were busy starting students into their programs, all of us feeling energetic and optimistic about the academic year. With the garden, this is a month of harvest. The peas and beans and most of the other above-the-ground bounty has been picked and preserved. September is a time to quickly pull off the tomatoes, zucchini, and corn ahead of the first frost, and my basement cold room and the veggie fridge in the garage become stuffed with things that need something done with them. And the root veggies--beets, carrots, turnips, potatoes--will all be out of the ground by October 1st. (I actually look FORWARD to October, just because by then I can cook a meal without digging something out of the ground, scrubbing or shelling something, figuring out what to do with X because it is ready TODAY!) And here, the leaves show us their stuff in September, so lovely fall colours. I take lots of photos so I can remember the colour during the long drab rest of the year. And I love seeing those colours on scrapbook paper. Buy way more of it than I need for the 3 weeks of colour show we get here. Not sure if anyone in our family will be taking the bus to school this year, but I look forward to using those fall colours while scrapping pic's of those bright yellow buses. As usual, I have rambled on. Welcome to the team and to team play, Ladies. Enjoy SKETCHtember!

PS, don't forget to drop in some of your own challenges, DIVA's! You have today and tomorrow to do that. And destined2bmom, there are now more than FIFTY challenges. After the thread closes, I will sticky a printable list of them, and gramma's spreadsheet for keeping track of our points can be found in that stickied thread as well. If you are working on a particular project--say a back to school mini book, or a vacation album--make up a challenge that will earn you points every time you create a page , and drop it into the challenge thread! Or if you are using particular colours for Christmas cards, it is totally fair to post a challenge to create a CARD, using X,Y, & Z colours. BOOM! You get to haul in the points!

Thanks for the thread! Today is my day to take my mom grocery shopping (she doesn’t really need me to take her, but it’s just what we do once a week, and then have lunch) but I will look at the challenges when I get back. I only have through tomorrow if I want to post a challenge, right?

And then into October to claim the completion bonus, should you take on all 30 sketches that are dropping in once a day throughout this month.

I love September and October. They are my favorite months. Weather wise I just love it. Warm days, cool nights. Sunshine but not too hot. Wearing actual pants again. I hate pants! As a younger person, they were always too short - very difficult to find my inseam when I was in my 20s! Now, it's a little easier to find long pants. This year especially - with my "covid 20" (pounds that is) I'm a little nervous my jeans won't fit... ugh. But one reason I love September: apples. I adore orchard apples!

I'm looking forward to being a good team mate this month. Sorry to all that have been my team mates when I've been a lame team mate.
I have a scrapbooking retreat next week so I'm hoping to complete a lot of cards for the troops and holidays.

Hi Divas! I took a bit off of challenges just because somehow, even in the midst of COVID, I found myself really busy. But when I saw it was Sketchtober, well, I had to jump back in! Like jeremysgirl, I love to start with a sketch. I got day 1 done and will post it soon. In general, I enjoy September. I like back to school. This year is different both my 6th grader and my high school junior are home now, but their school district is hoping to start the two days in school thing soon. I have enjoyed being home with the kids. But I miss that there are not our usual Friday night football games and such. Hopefully somehow it will come back this year.

Hi DIVAS I love September as well, but this September is starting off a bit stressful. I'm an elementary school librarian and this week we are starting a gradual transition from 100% virtual learning to face-to-face next Tuesday. Our first group of f2f kids come to school tomorrow. Long days, lots of decisions, lots of stress.
I'm looking forward to the long weekend and I'll have plenty of time to relax in my craft room (i.e. the dining room) and make some cards. I've already made 2 birthday cards this week, but I had to rush because they need to be in the mail tomorrow. I'll post pictures later when I have time to study the challenges and work out my points.
Excited to be part of this and crafting again.

Hi all! I haven't been good with joining in on the challenges lately. I realized that I usually pick up on my creative time September-December/January and then fizzle out once winter sets in and I focus on planning our next school year. I'm hoping to get a lot done this month, finishing up our 2019 album. I personally have a love hate relationship with September. I like that time of year, but it signals when things start getting busier for us. We are back to school (homeschool full time), the majority of birthdays in our home and in the past its when we vacation. Then there are the holidays coming up and I'm already tired thinking of it! I'm hoping to get a solid time this weekend since I pulled my hamstring and can't do any physical work. And then the next weekend is a online retreat that I've already planned on setting the entire weekend away for!

jeremysgirl , good for you on getting to buy new clothes!!! That's fun shopping I have still been doing clothes etc. shopping online: staying away from malls, plus, when I have been in a store, the inventory/selection is so limited! Anyone else find that stores don't have much stock? lynnek - yes, glad to see you back! Those extracurriculars are what we're really missing too A Special Welcome to tuesdaysgone , lucyg , destined2bmom - I think you are new players and I hope you have fun. There is ZERO pressure remember! Ahem gmcwife1, not worried about you being a high scoring team-mate at all, right! I agree boymom5 , the upcoming holidays require so much planning and work that I get tired now thinking about it. Time just goes so quickly.

I really wanted to buy Vicki Boutin's new line. I love her stuff. But I put all the pieces I wanted in my basket and damn if it's not $50. I hate to spend that much money on one line of products.

Wow, congrats, jeremysgirl. I need to buy a new pair or 2 but they need to go up in size. Pandemic eating has not been good for me. I worked on the first 2 sketches last night. Now I remember why I wasn't going to sign up this month. The more I struggle to make the sketches fit my photos and ideas, the more frustrated I become and the less I like my page when I finish. I think I will just stick to the regular challenges this month and not drive myself nuts with the sketches. I like starting with a sketch, but it always takes a different turn and NEVER looks like the sketch when I finish. Welcome to all the new Team Members this month. It's fun to see new faces participating.

I like starting with a sketch, but it always takes a different turn and NEVER looks like the sketch when I finish. I think that a creative take on a sketch is a wonderful thing. I wouldn't worry that it doesn't look enough like the sketch.

I wouldn't worry that it doesn't look enough like the sketch. I was just going to post this, that maybe you get your inspiration from the sketch and make it fit YOUR photos, not the other way round. It doesn't actually need to resemble the sketch when finished...

Oh wow, lots of new faces here, and teammates I haven't been paired up with in a while hello! I'm not planning to do anything with the sketches this month. I am hoping to do some quick and easy cards. I need to restock my shop. And then get some Christmas cards started and Halloween cards finished. But we're also selling my FIL's stuff and currently trying to get some bigger stuff moved so it's not in my living room. like the 4 foot wide moose antlers... Grammadee said that my product photography sounds like other crafts, so between that and occasional crochet I should still be able to get some points even if I don't make much. Today we sold a 10 year old iMac, a 30 year old steam cleaner (with 30 yo cleaning solutions!), and I'm listing some heavy duty school furniture from the first half of the 20th century. and the moose antlers... I'm about to call it a day and go to the socially distanced farmer's market. It's hot and sunny and summer is almost over.

Trying to keep up with the sketches. Have today's finished and ready for photographing when there is light in the morning. Have an idea for what photos I can use for tomorrow's sketch. I wouldn't worry about matching the sketch exactly, nylene. My pages often have a mind of their own, even when I start with the sketch in mind.

Thanks for noticing my name Ryann! I found it this morning too and what a thrill to win something! I have a lot of copics and ohuhu markers (the cheap amazon ones. but they work just like copics so who is gonna argue?). I got a good start on a sketch last night. I planned to work with one from the week. But then my photos were arguing with the sketches so I ended up starting to create my sample for next Wednesday! Will be good to get it done, and then I'll work on the others. 2 years ago, I did get all the sketches done in September. I don't know how I did it...

nylene I’m another who doesn’t worry if my layout doesn’t look like the sketch I started with. For my Sketchtember posts, I try to keep my layouts close, but last year it didn’t always happen. Use the sketches as inspiration, not as a requirement. I’ve been in a crafting slump for the past few weeks, but it sounds like I’ll be able to contribute this month between Sketchtember and the Cha-Ching challenge. I’ve posted my first sketch+layout and I purchased some Distress Paint from scrapbook.com! I’m off to a good start! I love September because that means that the weather finally starts to cool off—although we broke a high temp record today when it got to 114F (45.5C). I’m hoping for cooler temps soon! I can’t handle summer weather for another entire month!

Hi, all. I'm a bit perplexed by how it got to be a week into the month already... ?!
I'm not even certain if I made some cards this past week. I think so! But my brain is so full of everything else (selling stools and desks and a barrel and some moose antlers!) and trying to get myself organized, and cook a bunch, and plant the plants my friend gave me before they die.
I need to sit down quietly early tomorrow morning and try to figure out what day of the week it is and when I can make some crafty things!

My first time as a diva! I’ve always been a joyful scrapper. Won’t see any layouts from me the first half of the month. We start back to school tomorrow (preschool) and this year I’ve also taken over as administrator. Once I get settled back in to work I should have more time to create. Even have a virtual crop weekend planned with my girlfriends the last weekend in September

Good luck with getting into the school year, natscraps. And I hope all the teachers and students and staff stay safe now that schools are opening up again. Of the seven of my dgk's in Alberta, three are going to school full time, with staggered recesses and one way hallways and a few other measures designed to keep them safe. Three are in full time learning at home through their local school districts. With that option, I think the class sizes in the buildings hopefully will be smaller (especially if the ratio is the same as for my dgk's. We had dd and her ds here since Wednesday evening. They are in our cohort as they spend alot of time here and we all try to keep each other safe. Our ds and ddil and 2 of their kids were here from late Friday evening. They are a little more free wheeling, which is a bit scary, but because of local laws where they live and restricted opportunity to attend large gatherings, there shouldn't be a problem. And everyone seemed healthy all weekend. They all left today, and then we picked all the perishables from the garden b/c a FROST is promised for tonight! Yes. It is fall. Needless to say I am exhausted. Oh, and BTW, joblackford, I laughed at your saying you had to sell a MOOSE head. When we went to pick the corn, it seems that a moose got to it first! If I had had a gun, and had seen it happening, I might have had another head for you to sell ... Hoping to get back into scrapping tomorrow. Really glad I put together a couple of page kits for the sketches before the chaos hit, so I should be able to ease right into scrapbooking tomorrow. One of the kits is for my sample sketch for next week, so I won't be able to share that right away, but if I just get started gluing papers together, the flow will come back more quickly, I hope...

I’m on a roll this first week! I’m caught up on and have posted all of my sketch interpretation layouts. I’m using my CD Feb kit that is pink and floral and not something I’d usually use. My brother is getting married next year and I was thinking it could be a gift. I was also thinking I could keep it and scrap some of my wedding photos from a while back. It’ll depend on how it looks and how comfortable I am gifting something handmade. That’s definitely one of my insecurities.
I hope I can keep this up because it’s fun and it could turn out to be a handy TN book for a wedding. I may try to do another TN book toward the end of the month for an upcoming beach vacation. I have another kit that is sea themed—so pretty restricted, but a beach trip might work!
I’m in good shape so far for Sketchtember! I also placed my first Stamptember purchase today and I have some distress paint coming from sb.com.
I’m excited that I have some scrappy mojo to start the month.

All the new sketches! I can't wait to play with them this weekend. I'm hanging in there with work this week just drooling over all the inspiration. I can't wait to get my "office" put away for the week and get my "craft" room back...
I have no plans all weekend! Can't wait to play.
