The only real difference is the clenched fist vs open hand, so it's certainly not a stretch. The part that gobsmacked me about the post I responded to was that she has no idea these things are happening. Tell me again who is being lied to? Indeed. I do read here a lot...have for years. I often find it odd the things that don't have discussion threads. There will be 5 threads on the 1st page full of Trump hatred, but it's crickets on these things. Maybe they are shielded from it? As do I. If black lives matter, where is the outrage over David Dorn? Secoria Turner? The 38 black children killed this year in Chicago, including 1 year old Sincere Gaston? 16yo Antonio Mays Jr who was killed in the CHOP zone? These are naming just a few. Now there was a thread full of indignation that anyone dare to think that a care should be given for Cannon Hinnant, a 5yo white boy shot point-blank in the head by his black neighbor. In front of his sisters. *It wasn't George Floyd-level so "shuddupaboutit" was the general consensus. And where is the MeToo movement these days? The rape victim of Jacob Blake is watching him being honored all over the place. Pro football players have his name plastered all over their helmets and shoes. Kamala Harris is PROUD of him. Proud of a rapist. WTF is going on is what I ask myself daily. |

Every trumper that I have ever talked to feels this way. That is the crux of the issue. Most industries have a life span. The buggy whip is an old example. The buggy whip workers lost their jobs when cars were invented. Smart people understand this and know how to re-educate and learn new skills. The oil industry will always be around in some form but we are moving toward solar, wind etc. and those should replace most of the need for oil. Time is now to start learning to transition to making a living in other forms of energy. But noooo, it's easier to vote for a mad man and stick with a industry that is destroying our planet. But not thinking things through or not smart enough to re-educate yourself becomes a huge problem when that is causing one to vote for an evil psycho. The real joke is he doesn't give a shit about any particular industry, only what will line his pockets and screw the lowly workers who he despises. It’s the same in the coal industry too. There was a program that offered free classes and training for out of work coal miners in clean energy. People wouldn’t bite even though they didn’t have to pay for it. It was mind boggling to me. I’m like so you are going to die in a mine shaft collapse or from black lung for what? Because it’s uncomfortable to learn something new? I remember hearing about a guy who left the coal industry for a new life in FL. He actually quit his job and moved back to WV or KY because trump was going to get the coal industry back up and running. Why, why would you purposefully take 3 giant steps backwards? It’s even a similar vein in my town. They were lamenting about garbage pick up and the cost. My house has more people but is smaller than my parents house. They paid more for garbage pick up than I did. So we suggested paying for your garbage bags at the town garage so you only pay for what you use. Nope couldn’t do it because they discussed it 20 years ago and it didn’t fly. I’m like the town is different than 20 years ago!! I get it, change is hard. My husband had to reinvent himself after the economy collapsed when Reagan was president and he lost his job in the car industry. We spent my entire paycheck on books so he could learn about computers after getting out of the military. He had to change the way he works now with the uptick in professional hackers. People have to be flexible with change and supply and demand or they will get left behind. Trump couldn't save coal and he can't save oil. These are enormous worldwide systems. Once the economic are against you, you die. PERIOD. Oil majors know this. Investors in oil majors know this. Only head-in-the-sand idiots don't know this. The ONLY thing Trump can do (and he hasn't) is keep these industries around A LITTLE longer in the US than in the EU, or Japan or China or India. And what will that do? Agreed, that’s not ok. I wish people would stop thinking it’s effective, it’s not. It doesn’t represent the majority of BLM protesters, though. Our protests here were peaceful and respectful. I, personally, would never participate in something like that. I don’t know anyone who would. |
