This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

Welcome to October and Cardtober here on 2peasrefugees. Thanks, grammadee, for keeping us all working on our albums and memories. You always have great ideas. I may not get much done this month. DH started another round of radiation today, that will go through December. It ties us up a couple of mornings a week. We are just grateful that there are ways to treat cancers and that he can tolerate it. Have a great weekend, Pokey friends.

nylene - thank you for setting us up for another month. I'll keep you and DH in my prayers. not sure how much I'll be around either - homeschooling is a solid 9-2 committment (with a short lunch and 30 min of PE that I don't need to supervise) plus lesson planning/marking etc... I'm enjoying it but it's sure cut into my free time.

Linda, the reason it's taking so much of your time is that you are doing it right! I know she will learn what she needs and you will eventually settle into a more comfortable routine. Thanks for the prayers. They are always appreciated. Best wishes for smooth sailing in your teaching!

Thank you nylene - I am trying to do it right. I knew when I said yes that it would be a big time committment but it's important

Linda and nylene - hugs to you both as you navigate your paths with your cheerful determination - both of you seem to have that trait!!! I am hoping to keep my mojo flowing into October. In the end, I got 19 layouts done in September and I'll have to be happy with that. So that's at least 11 to get done in October considering I want to finish the sketches Thanksgiving is next weekend here in Canada. I used to think that we had the date "right" and the US had it "wrong". Now I realize it's the other way Ours gets swallowed up by Halloween, and then it's a LONG stretch until Christmas, and of course Christmas INVADES culture all through November and December. At least the US uses Thanksgiving as the springboard into Christmas!!! We typically would go be with family or friends, but we'll be staying put this year. I haven't yet bought the turkey either! That can be this weekend's work, along with the farmers market. Does anybody else enjoy Costco pumpkin pie like my family? I always made our own pumpkin pie, but honestly, I can't make it as cheap as Costco! (better yes. cheaper, no.) I'm a sad example of a person who loves pumpkin spice and I celebrated it's return to the Starbucks menu. I really need to scrapbook that, because I know it's a dividing issue (most of my friends dislike the trend...)

Happy almost Thanksgiving kitbop and all the Canadian Pokeys! I like pumpkin spice in pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins (with mini choc chips), and in pumpkin gingerbread but I'm not a fan of it in other stuff - I don't mind it being so prevalent though because there are lots who love it. Good luck finishing up the sketches - it was a great Sketchtember with so much inspiration. Hoping my mojo sticks around also

Hugs and prayers to both of you, nylene, as you enter into this new treatment journey. I agree that you and dd with settle into a more comfortable routine as time goes on, Linda. You will give her things to do and while she is working on them, you can be grading the last assignments she completed. She will make sure she does things correctly the first time so she doesn't have to repeat her work or do extra research. Hee hee! I always told instructors I was orienting that you have to make sure THEY are working harder than YOU are. Cuz it is in the work that the learning happens. I love the taste of the spice combination in pumpkin pie and spice cookies and cakes, kitbop. And if I could handle the fat content I would be ALL OVER a pumpkin spice latte right now!!! I hope you do scrap your love of them, and I think you should make that into one of your famous page recipe challenges... Our local baker makes delicious pumpkin pies and we often have them for Thanksgiving b/c our own pumpkins are still ripening in the basement. But if we have any ready, I much prefer the recipe that dh's mom (BABA) left me for making the pies from fresh pumpkin. I kind of like the fact that our three turkey holidays are spaced out--Thanksgiving in early October, Christmas at the end of December, then Easter in March/April. Time to build up the anticipation again.

Happy Friday all! I had a busy week and looking forward to relaxing this weekend. My new "Story Time With..." art video is up. Link Here It was fun telling the story of my art entitled "Love, Peace and Joy." I started this painting in 2016 but towards the end I got stuck. I didn't know how to finish it. So I told this story and the lesson learned. Stop by if you are interested. Ok, my glasses came a few weeks ago and I do like them. BUT that bifocal element is hard to adjust to. So I might send them back and have them redone just with the distance element. That is what I need most. So the story continues. nylene- Hope you and your dh are having a good day today!!! joyfulnana- Are you keeping up with the Chiefs? I am glad sports are back to help normalize our lives. linda- Glad to hear your home schooling is coming along. I agree with the others. In time, it will get easier. Hang in there! grammadee- Anything new happening in the garden? How are the doggies? Waving hi to you all and have a nice evening!

Happy Friday, kellyr21! Don't send your glasses back: WEAR them! And get used to them. Soon you won't even notice the bifocal transition. I found the hardest part looking down at stairs or curbs. But after wearing them out and about and being extra careful, they just became part of my face! As for fall, it has been a bit slow sneaking in here, but it is definitely here now. Temps near or below freezing at night. Our garden is completely harvested. The only thing left standing was the corn and the sun flowers, and the moose dropped by to finish with the corn the other night. Dh was driving around the yard with the golf cart today pulling a lawn sweeper picking up leaves. He then spread them on the garden and worked them in with the rotovator. I have been frantically finishing up my pages for SKETCHtember, but I am done them all, now. This weekend I need to clean up my scraproom and stow away all the stuff that is piled on the counters and on the floor in the corner. Still have some unprinted garden and baking photos I want to scrap, and hope to use the cutfiles gramma sent me for those pages. While I clean, I will make some page kits for those pages. But I really want to get started on Christmas card making this month, play along with CARDtober. I signed up for the big 2peas holiday card exchange, so I need to get busy folding and cutting and gluing! The box card from day one has me stymied. I put one together, but it didn't work out quite the way I wanted it, and I am not sure if it can be redone in a way that will work.

Happy Saturday ladies! I am SO glad that it is the weekend. I worked at least 60 hours this week, it was a crazy one. I lead a fairly large nonprofit and we have some big stuff going on right now. It's all good, thankfully, just a lot of work. I got the stitches out of my ankle and foot on Monday and have a lovely pink cast now. I have to have this for a month and then I'll be back in the boot again. At least I can drive once I get the boot on, so that will be nice. I still can't put any weight on it for the next month. I'm just glad to have another week of healing under my belt. We live in downtown Indy in an old house that we renovated, so I've been having to drag myself up and down the stairs because our bedroom and the showers are on the second floor. I'll definitely be glad when this part is over. I fell down the stairs when I was headed out the back door on crutches on Monday...which was a bummer. Thankfully, I was headed to the doc already and they did X-rays and I didn't damage my ankle. Nylene - I am so sorry that Steve is sick again. I'll pray for the two of you. Hugs to you sweet friend. Kelly - It took me a minute to get used to my glasses with progressive lenses when I got them, but I really like them now. I wear them a lot more than my contacts these days. Linda - I hope the homeschooling goes well. I'm sure you will both settle into a routine with it. It's awesome that you are enjoying it. Kitbop - Happy Thanksgiving! My husband loves pumpkin everything too...I'm not that big on it myself, although I do like pumpkin pie. Grammadee - It's great that you make your Christmas cards! I'm usually doing good just to buy some and get them mailed out. The holidays are always really busy for me at work because I organize Christmas for all of the kids in our shelters. With me being hobbled this year, I will probably have to get some help with that. I hope you all have a great Saturday. Olivia (our oldest) is coming over to craft with me, so we will be making fun stuff today. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

my glasses came a few weeks ago and I do like them. BUT that bifocal element is hard to adjust to You don't seem old enough for bifocals @kellyr!!!! My reading vision has deteriorated this year and I now take my glasses off for close work (you've all seen me do it in the hangouts, right? Fussy cutting ? ) But I can still read and see the computer with just my normal glasses, and I know that bifocals will be a HUGE adjustment so I'm waiting. I really want to get started on Christmas card making this month That's such a good idea, to make a bunch of individual cards rather than an assembly line of 1 design. My problem: I make a few individual cards, fall in love with one of the designs, and then mass produce the one I love . I guess that's not a bad thing. But it does put a stop to the creative process. I often use Thanksgiving weekend to start Christmas cards. Last year I waited until the end of November and it felt too pressured. QUESTION for everyone about handmade christmas cards that are LEFTOVER. I have a few every year that I don't use. Or don't get mailed. I'm always worried that if I use it, it will go to someone who got that card previously. I don't tend to have NEW people in my life that I exchange cards with. OK, I just answered my own question as I typed this. Donate them to a card drive, obviously. DUH!!! Thanks for your help I am SO glad that it is the weekend. I worked at least 60 hours this week You and me both. Work has been somewhat better the past 2 weeks. We've had some additional therapists giving hours, so I've been able to work 8 hours/day instead of 10. And just having co-workers pull together to help me - it feels good. I should make them thank you cards! But your 60 hours, whew. Over 5 days? Exhausting! NOT good. One of my roles at the hospital is teaching crutch walking and non weight bearing so please forgive me as I lapse into my professional role here - I cringed and feel overly concerned that this happened to you. Are you really experienced on crutches (if so, just ignore me...) or a newbie? Has a PT adjusted your crutches properly (the handle. The handle height is SO critical. Not the armpit height.) and shown you the tricks? One good trick: when you aren't using the crutches and you prop them against a wall etc., turn them upside down and they won't fall over as easily. And bum up and down those stairs if you are tired! Put at chair at the top so you can more easily get up/down off the floor. OK, PT out.

Happy October Pokeys! nylene and Linda big hugs to you both as you navigate all of this. I hope DH takes to the treatment well nylene Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian peas!! I wish it was more spread out here in the US. I dread the end of the year with the two holidays crammed into each other. So much to do. Although I am starting my Christmas shopping this month. Which means I will go over budget because it gives me more time to see things lol. kellyr21 I got progressive lenses oh gosh about 15 years ago. I STILL hate them and only wear mine for distance. Although my near sight is getting bad now. I think it's the having to move my head to use the bifocal that bugs me so much. Oh my yes, I'm keeping up with the Chiefs! I haven't kept up with other teams too much yet. I feel like there are so many young QB's that are up and coming stars, but it's like Mahomes is the Michael Jordan of the NFL and Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, will always be compared to Mahomes and never measure up. The way Stockton and Malone would have been the premier combo, except for Jordan and Pippen. kitbop I love pumpkin pie, but always buy one now. And I have to admit to never having tried a pumpkin spice latte . I have to get out this morning to pick up a new movie for tonight's sleepover (Sonic the Hedgehog) so I may swing by Starbucks. I don't usually care for flavored coffee, it's too sweet, but there are such strong feelings on both sides about these latte's lol. People look at me the way they do when I say I've never seen or read any Harry Potter lol. 19 LOs!! That's amazing. I finished 8 LO's in September which is about double my output I do want to finish them all eventually. And try to meet the Saturday sketch challenge this month. I don't know what it is about Sketchember but it's exciting every year and I love the energy it generates on the board. I'm kinda bummed because I found a light bulb die cut and had a page to use it on, but didn't get it finished in time for nylene's challenge. Oh well, I'm still using it lol. shinyhappytina so glad you can drive and that your fall didn't re-injure your ankle! I haven't decided on whether or not I'm making cards or buying them this year. It's not my forte, but then again I don't get better at it without making some lol. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend and hope to see you later today on hangouts!

Happy Sunday! We are relaxing and resting today. I didn't make any cards for WCD but I did binge watch Scrapbook dot com's special YT videos for the occassion. I got so many good ideas. I hope to make a few cards today. Tomorrow, I will be hosting another "Dress Up With Me Monday." Join us whether you are at home or going out. Wear your favorite t-shirt, get all dolled up or anything in-between. It has been fun and good medicine, too. Link HereI will give my glasses another chance grammadee . I hope my eyes can adjust plus I don't want to go through the hassle of sending them back and waiting forever to get the updated ones. LOL! grammadee - I smiled when you said a moose can by and helped by eating more of your plants! LOL! Wow, I have never seen a moose. shinyhappytina- Oh boy! I an so glad your fall didn't set you back. Hang in there and I hope you continue to get better and stronger. What type of non-profit to you work for? joyfulnana - The Chiefs are doing good. I love watching your QB play. He is so magical!

shinyhappytina, I am so sorry about your fall. I'm glad it didn't do more damage. How are you getting along? Are you on crutches or one of those little scooter things? I think I'd kill myself on one of those. Hope you are healing and are encouraged. You are working a lot of hours for being on the injured list. Please be careful. kellyr21, I love my progressive lenses and I really worried about them. I get seasick, carsick just riding across town. Can't do any whirling rides at the Fair, and was sure I would get sick in them. My Dr. told me to wear them 1 hour the first 2 days and then just put them on and leave them. I didn't have any trouble after the first 2 days. I hope you can make them work for you. I haven't checked out you last video but will later today. kitbop, I love pumpkin pie (Costco) and pumpkin cookies but that is all. I haven't tried muffins, but I would probably like them. My autoimmune issue makes my tongue hurt eating anything with lots of seasoning or spices. So I avoid highly flavored foods. joyfulnana, I planned to join the Hangouts on Sat but wasn't feeling well. I have really missed seeing you all and chatting. I will try for the next Saturday or Sunday chat. Did Rudy get to say "hello" to the peas? grammadee, I debated for 3 days about signing up for Cardtober. Now I wish I hadn't. I don't think I am going to get much done and will have few points for my team. I am having a hard time getting into my scraproom. I made a Sympathy card for a neighbor and a birthday card for Alex, but didn't even take a photo. LisaDV, I think about you every day and hope that things are looking up for you. Hang in there and drop in if you need to chat. Hugs. I'm off to take DH for radiation. I will try to check in again more regularly.

nylene Rudy didn't end up coming over until after the hangout. He would be so distracting to me lol. I hope you are feeling better and don't stress about how much you can make this month. Some months are like that. I have lots of months like that and I have no real reason for it lol. kellyr21 man that game! Mahomes IS magical. I'm so happy we have a premier QB finally. He makes watching so fun! LisaDV you are in my thoughts as well. Work is finally slowing down! Maybe I will have energy to scrap during the week a little too. I have so much I want to get done lol.

shinyhappytina , look after yourself! So glad the fall did no damage to the leg in the cast, but it must have been scary and I bet you ended up with a few bruises. nylene , I hope you are feeling better than you were on Saturday. Please get the rest you need. If you don't pull in many points this month, that is no biggie. I am sure the recipients enjoyed your cards, even if you didn't get to share them with us. Hoping your dh's treatments work, and that there are no setbacks from side effects. Glad you are getting a bit of breathing space at work, joyfulnana . And glad you got to see Rudy on Saturday. Did you get some photos of his missing tooth? Looking forward to seeing your Christmas cards, kellyr21 . I am making alot of them, but none are as gorgeous as yours. Speaking of Christmas cards, who is in for a Pokey Peas exchange of holiday cards this year? I believe last year we had gramma , nylene , msliz , LisaDV , justjac , kitbop , kellyr21 and joyfulnana and Linda and myself participate. Anyone else who shares on this thread would be welcome to join in. Don't need addresses or anything yet. Maybe just let us know if you are interested, and tag me one way or the other. I can put together a group PM for sharing mailing details when we know who is taking part.

Happy Monday! I had a busy day but a good day. I wore my joy for Dress Up With Me Monday's thread. This has been a fun activity for me. So I wore my pink feathered earrings and a pink dress. (picture is in that thread link above) Those earrings always make me smile. One of the ladies in last week's thread said she told someone she met at the post office about Dress Up Mondays and they got excited and was gonna see if they could do this at her job! So cool! nylene- OK, I am gonna wear my glasses for two hours for two days and then go for it. I did wear them today for a while. I feel a little woozy when moving my head from left to right. That is the part I don't like. But from what all of you are saying is it will pass. Thanks friend! grammadee- I am excited to see what I will make this year for Christmas cards, too. This year, I wanted to try some new things so I can't wait to get my new dies and play. Yes, I will be in the Pokey card exchange this year. I missed it last year. joyfulnana- Yeah, that kid is an awesome QB! I hope you all make it to the Super Bowl this year. My LA Rams are doing ok but not that exciting to watch. LOL! Waving hi to you all and have a good Tuesday!

Hi, Pokeys! Sorry I have been absent. My gastro did some biopsies the end of Sept and put me on a new medicine. It has really knocked me for a loop. I tried backing off to one a day rather than 4 a day and even that made me very sick. I don't see him again until the 15th. I have stopped it all together and today is the first day I am feeling better. I was waiting for the meds to come when we left for Idaho. I'm glad now that they came after we got back. DH's radiation is going well. They told him it would be painful as time goes on, but he is doing well now. I'm hoping by weekend I will feel like making some of the card sketches. I would love to be part of the Pokey Peas Christmas Card exchange, grammadee. Thank you for setting that up. I really appreciate it. We are off to see if we can get flu shots today. Be back later.

So sorry you have been feeling ill, nylene. But glad you are starting to feel more like yourself. And sending wishes that your dh’s treatments continue to treat him well. Linda, how is school going? justjac how were your first few days with students? I hope our health care workers continue to stay healthy—talkin to YOU, shinyhappytina and kitbop! I can’t believe I have been able to keep up with LOAD. Working with smaller pages helps. And I have been able to turn a couple of CARDtober challenges into those pages. Will share here when I get back to my computer. My cleaning lady was here yesterday and today, so I have been hiding out in my scraproom and bedroom. Packed up a bunch of stuff to give away. Mostly clothes and books, but I gave a box of scrapbook pp to my cleaning lady for her daughter. Okay. Off to fix some supper.

Healing prayers for you and DH nylene! Please take care. On a much lesser note, I wrenched my shoulder last night and it's pretty bad. I can't lift it forward. Being a physio I know exactly which muscle/tendon I damaged. The joint is just fine. Can I fix it? Nope. Should I be driving/working? Nope. Did I take my own professional advice? Um. Bring on the naproxen/ice/voltaren cocktail!

In fact, you don't even need to SEND any, but I know I would love to send you a card and would love your address. If you interested, please reply to this thread and tag me.
