I like the blondes too. They go with the flow and seem to be having fun. I agree about the alliance, I think it's wrong when teams are flat out given answers.
It seems several seasons ago they stopped knowing who was eliminated and it looks like they are semi sequestered until the next leg of the race. Part of that could be that the last teams arriving on the mat are so far behind the first ones that arrive. It also seems like they haven't had many/any teams recently where one is nasty or verbally abusive to the other partner.

I watched both episodes on Thursday and am just getting to this post now.
I also agree that it's getting late in the game for a 5 team alliance. When Hung and Chee waited at the word scramble/walk down the side of the building for all of their alliance teams to finish so they could tell them the answer I was so shocked. In my opinion that was a super dumb move. They could have just told the next team in their alliance the answer and told them to pass it on (only to their alliance members) and left to get ahead and on to their next challenge. But to wait their physically? I believe that decision could have cost them very much in time and led to their 3rd place win (I think that's what they got) instead of a better chance at a first place win.
I'm not liking this 5 team alliance and sharing all of the answers at this point in the game. It's boring as heck for us viewers and it's not good game play in my opinion. What will happen as they get down to fewer and fewer teams? Will the people that break off this alliance first be targeted by everyone else? Alliances work extremely well in Survivor-in The Amazing Race a 5 team alliance is just way too big. 2 teams make a lot more sense.

Even knowing who wins or at least gets to the end they are still fun to watch. One thing I've noticed is that these earlier seasons had some seriously awful people... rude to their partners, rude to the local people -- some real Ugly Americans. ugh. I'm going to be interested as I move forward with the seasons to see if that changes at all. Something interesting I noticed on one of the most recent episodes -- the one where the two last teams were the African-American sisters and the two blonde gals (I never know anyone's name).... The other teams were at the station waiting to see which team would run in to join them. Apparently they had no idea who had been eliminated. But in the old seasons that I've been watching we see all teams together for their "mandatory 12-hour rest period" (as Phil reminded the viewers on every episode). Anyone know how they do that rest period now? On the old seasons it would show them eating (nice-looking food too...so clearly the articles that talk about how "the food sucks" are wrong) and socializing... do they still do that? Phil never mentions it like he used to, plus how the other teams didn't know who had been eliminated... DD(23) and I started watching the old seasons. She's never seen them and I'd told her about how you would see the teams eating and socializing at pit stops and how they took everything away from the last team on non-elimination legs for a few seasons, etc. I'm not spoiling the finish for her but remember the top three for at least the first four seasons we've seen so far. Really enjoyed the first 3 and were pretty bored with Season 4, especially with 3 non-elimination legs at the final 5 (or 6?). Things have changed so much. Giving the mom/daughter team a 24 hour penalty for not completing a task that let Team Guido avoid elimination when they completely blew their Fast Forward was brutal!!! The exhausting travel in the first seasons was also insane. Flying 12 hours to scramble to a clue box that told them to drive 500 miles to the next clue box followed by a task and 24 hour train ride level of insanity! I do like the way the show has evolved to be more about tasks than time at airline counters. For this season, I'm disappointed Leo and Ericka were eliminated and absolutely hate the alliance of five. I do love Hung & Chee and Riley & Maddison and hope they are 1 & 2 in that order with the blonde girls coming in third. We died laughing at the teams driving the Trabants!

If you look at the times the teams depart the next day (or the middle of the night), they are 12 hours after they completed the task. Sometimes they show them hanging out, sometimes they don't. It all depends on where they are staying and how far apart the teams finish.

We aren't going to watch last night's episode until DS comes up on Saturday but I noticed our DVR didn't record it. I look OnDemand and it looks like there is an episode for last night. DS just texted me and said his DVR didn't record it either. Did anyone get to watch it last night? Amazing Race REFUSES to record for me.. I have done it several times and it turns off somehow.. sounds like I wasn't the only one!! I swear I told myself, 'damn I'm getting old, I swear I recorded this twice now.. and it won't record, what am I doing wrong!!!"

I was so sad to see the sisters get eliminated. They were so cheerful throughout and I thought it was mean to yield them twice.
We are pulling for the volleyball players or the football players.

I know it's been said here before but all the teams helping other teams in the alliance is annoying. It really bugged me last night with the table setting challenge. It will be interesting to see how this develops now that those allied teams are the only ones left.

Was glad the boyfriend/girlfriend (can't remember names) were sent packing last week-they were annoying to me. I was rooting for the sisters and was sad they were eliminated this week. Not sure who I want to win now. The alliance will be over now, and it'll be every team for itself.

Honestly I didn’t like the blondes to begin with but the last 4 episodes I am amazed at how well they took the yields with grace. I mean they didn’t get snippy with each other, they just took it as it is.
I’m rooting for the married parents, the boyfriends or for Riley and Madison. It will be interesting to see how the final teams play against each other.

You would think that would be enough to deter such a big alliance. Not sure what else they could do. I laughed at Hung and Chee’s reason to do the dentures. She didn’t waste a second coming up with that rationale.

I think Amazing Race has significantly upped their prize for the winners of each leg It looks pretty much the same to us. Trips and cash. Except for the help with the big truck challenge, the blondes pretty much had to do EVERYTHING on their own. They can be very proud of the accomplishment especially with all the yields and speedbumps they had to face. I don't think the alliances are dead, they just plan to cut out the football players and the Indian team.

Ok, so I'm spending too much time thinking about this but maybe they have been showing us so much of the alliance helping each other all season because when the alliance breaks up, it's going to be really bad, nasty and dramatic. That's my bet.

I agree. I think Amazing Race has significantly upped their prize for the winners of each leg. You would think that would be enough to deter such a big alliance. Not sure what else they could do. The first couple seasons had no prizes IIRC, then there was a couple seasons where leg winners got Kodak Easyshare Digital Cameras! Around Season 5 cruises were the most common prize. Now there are legs with $15,000 cash prizes as well as the vacations. Teams need to keep their eye on finishing first every single leg, not just getting their alliance through. Ok, so I'm spending too much time thinking about this but maybe they have been showing us so much of the alliance helping each other all season because when the alliance breaks up, it's going to be really bad, nasty and dramatic. That's my bet. I think the brother/sister and football players are going to be shocked next week to find out they aren't part of the final final alliance that the boyfriends, volleyballers and Hung & Chee all seem committed to taking to the end. I can't see drama from the siblings. Maybe DeAngelo and Gary. I see a boring final three and hope Hung & Chee win. The sisters really grew on me this season. I was sorry to see them eliminated. OMG, that denture detour!

OMG, that denture detour! I know, right? That skeeved me out bigtime! Did I hear correctly that they could buy dentures for $3 US money? I had to fast forward through those parts. The alliance is annoying. I don’t understand keeping the stronger teams. Using the yield twice on the sisters was unnecessary and I feel unsportsmanlike. But I read an exit interview and they said it was the taxi getting lost that cost then the race. That put them hours behind where the 40 minute yields didn’t really make a difference. I was sorry to see them go bc they had such a great attitude and were fun to watch. I thought there was a certain amount of irony that James wouldn’t help Gary in the place setting task after he helped with the digital turban challenge. The tasks in this challenge were weak and boring to watch. Sort through bracelets? Delivering food with step by step directions?

Honestly what they offer now should be enough for teams to reconsider alliances or at least make them more competitive for trying to win each leg. There’s only one winner, might as well come home with something.

Getting to this late because I didn't watch the last 2 episodes until yesterday.
I have to say I grew to love the blondes because of their amazingly upbeat and positive attitudes every step of the way. Even when they got yielded twice (I too thought this was excessive) and at the end when they knew they were eliminated-they showed the best exit I've ever seen-no bitterness at all, no nastiness towards other players on the mat. Just a very positive attitude about their experience and the chance to play. That is true sportsmanship in the way we hardly ever get to see. And in my mind they had a lot to be frustrated about-2 yields in one game! And a horrible taxi driver to boot.
I am, along with everyone here, sick of the 5 team alliance and was so happy when on these 2 episodes it has now been whittled down to a 3 team alliance although I'd love to see every team play for themselves and no alliance at all. I think the boyfriends are the team most playing the game at least from these two episodes and the ones previous. They used the first yield way back when everyone else refused to use one and got someone else to use theirs (I forgot who) on these two episodes so it would take the pressure off of them as being the only team to use one. That was smart.
As far as the bracelet challenge and the delivering of food challenge in India? I think they are using these types of challenges because in the past in 3rd world countries we'd typically see challenges involving animals (like elephants in India) and I think The Amazing Race is trying to make a concentrated effort to get away from challenges using animals which I for one am very happy about. So instead they are I think thinking up challenges that involve some aspect of life in that country and those two challenges (the bracelet and the food delivery) fit. I think as they create more and more challenges without animals they will get better and better. These are just my thoughts.
As far as the denture challenge went-ugh! I had to hide my eyes during that one. But the place setting challenge was in a beautiful place and I loved seeing all of the gorgeous palace interiors (was that a palace?) and seeing all of the racers make those cool napkin designs.
So far my favorite teams are the boyfriends, the beards, and Hung and Chee.

Anyone watch last night? Really hate the alliance crap. Every season, my family and I pick out teams to root for. My son had the football players, and is furious that the other 3 teams wouldn't help them. The alliances have been annoying all season, but last night took the cake. However, I Think Deangelo is a bad sport, when he said he'd never do the race again, he could have done this on his own dime, etc. So many people apply to be on that show, and to make those comments, he just showed bad sportsmanship.

I just watched the episode and I agree with the comments above regarding Deangelo. He had 2 hours to process his disappointment while they took their time out and deal with his anger towards the other teams. To say what he did to Phil was extremely rude and uncalled for.
This alliance has taken so much fun out of this season of the race for me. I wonder if the Amazing Race will try to change some of the rules next season to address this? A 5 team alliance through most of this race took so much fun out of it for me and a lot of the viewers I think.
I really hope Hung and Chee win. Actually I'd be happy if they win or the bearded brothers. Last choice for me is the dating guys. They are okay but I'd rather the other two teams win. Will and James have been heard to be mean and snarky towards other players is my reason why.

Agreed the alliance needs to go - it has completely changed the game this season. Also, bad sportsmanship after receiving a taste of their own game play. Kudos to Gary for stepping up and being positive; in spite of his partner. Really hope producers take note of how the game was played and make note of those necessary changes before next season.
