Omg, that’s horrible looking. If those are really his hands that can’t be ok. Can it??

I've never seen anything like that? Looks like there's a spot on his lip too.

Looks like he took a fall or a beating. Definitely black and blue on his upper lip too.
Old people bruise very easily and badly.

He might be on blood thinners. Any little bump will cause such bruises.

He might be on blood thinners. Any little bump will cause such bruises. Is this affected by age? DH (about to be 49) has been on them since 2013 and this has not been an issue for him. Have seen a lot of nose bleeds, having to get his fingertip cauterized when he sliced the tip off and it wouldn’t stop bleeding, scans everything time he hits his head hard or has a really bad fall...but no real unusual bruising. Now my Grandad and mom (92 and 72) do bruise badly and very easily with every bump and when they fall it looks even more horrendous! No blood thinners for either.

I agree with those who suggest he fell. That is what my MIL looks like when she falls.

I guess Dh has been very lucky, until the last year or so when he switched to a new med his numbers shifted willy-nilly from hope-he-doesn’t-bleed-out to hope-he-doesn’t-have-another-PE and he never experienced this.

Omg, that’s horrible looking. If those are really his hands that can’t be ok. Can it?? I have seen that with a lot of elderly patients after lab draws. And after even a small bump. My grandma would bleed badly and bruise like this.

Ha! I'm 60 and my right hand looked like that after a nurse tried to put an IV in my hand for a colonoscopy. She blew right through the vein and my entire hand and wrist turned colors pretty quickly. Not as purple as that and he has a lot of bandages which makes me think of an injury. I'm guessing he took a fall. I despise the guy, but I don't wish bad health on him.

Skellinton OMG your thread title is perfect! Hopefully he’s rotting from the inside out and will be dead soon.

I agree that it was probably a fall. And it must have been a bad one.
A quick statement to his constituency might be in order- given his age, it would be helpful to disclose visible health concerns. It doesn’t have to be anything deep or personal, but a quick “Hey, you might have noticed the multiple bruises. I just wanted to let everyone know that I had a fall and there is nothing seriously wrong.”

I saw a quip elsewhere that said well, evil does rot from the inside out.
When you're in the public eye, you need to be prepared for all kinds of comments and speculation. Denying anything only feeds fire to the rumor mill. Seriously, just release a statement that says "I had a fall/procedure. After being checked out/test results, I'm happy to say I'm in good health despite the ugly bruises."

He might be on blood thinners. Any little bump will cause such bruises. Yes, happens to me all the time, and I'm only on low dose aspirin. I have to go off it it to heal up!! Any little bump gets a huge bruise. It looks like he might have had a fall. That happens to me at times when the dog gets in the way!! He'll be walking in front of me, and then STOP! silly dog.

I agree he is rotting from the inside out, but
I am on blood thinners, and my hands look like this frequently. I am rarely aware of hitting my hands hard enough to be conscious of it, and then they are black and blue. And not just my hands, drop a book on my thigh, bump my hip, etc. I do not what to even imagine what the rest of his body looks like. (eew!)
With the band aids, and steri strips, he probably fell. McConnell had polio as a child, and post polio syndrome does result in increasing muscle weakness as one ages. And the Grim Reaper is old.

Just to be clear, I obviously know MM isn’t rotting and assumed there was a medical reason, it just struck me as funny last night when I saw it. Thanks to all the peas explaining what could be happening, I bruise like a peach myself, but have never seen anything like that on both his hands. Seems odd he wouldn’t address it though. Seems like there are plenty of reasonable reasons for it.

Last time I saw a hand like that was just after Dumbledore destroyed the ring/horcrux. Definitely a curse.
