kelly8875 , I am so sorry for your loss and that of your DBF. I hope he has lots of good memories to replace the experience of finding her. Don't be afraid to talk to him about his good times. That is healing for each of you. Do you have plans for any type of memorial or service? I am sending hugs and a shoulder to lean/cry on at any time. Hugs Don't worry about catching up on conversations here. Just hop on when you have something to tell us. No pressure!! My "liking" your post just means I appreciate your sharing. I agree with the other Pokeys, enjoy being creative if it comes easily, but don't push yourself to be creative. Time will help with that. msliz , I'm sorry you are having some down times. Your Hangout sessions were the best thing for me the past few months. Don't you think we have all been stretched a little too far this year. It just seems like every day brings a new crazy experience in our world. I am sending you hugs. Hang in there. We want you on Hangouts in 2021. joyfulnana , I loved your description of the Cookie Bake. That is so REAL! What would have irritated me about my kids making a big cookie mess, doesn't bother me at all when it's a grandchild. I remember my mother making the same comments and letting my children do things that we could never have done. I know Rudy had a great time and thinks you are the bestest grandma in the entire world! So sweet. I can't tell you all how much I love each of your cards. Each shows your own personality. Each is beautiful and precious! They are all hanging at the top of my stairs for everyone to see....except no one comes to my home now because of Covid! So we enjoy them all to ourselves. I'll be back later to chat. It's time to get dinner started.

kelly8875 I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so difficult to lose a parent. Sending condolences to your DBF. kellyr21 thank you so much for the generous prize. I decided to order myself one of your lovely tshirts. Happy Chanukah msliz. I hope things get easier. I’m looking forward to seeing grammadee for a masked gift exchange. I not only have her gift from me, but also the one her DH paid for from the LSS! I’m still working from home. Which has led to me making all kinds of Christmas goodies. I made a cookie bark yesterday. I’m working on my December Daily. I’m doing 6x8 and 3x8 digital pages. I might start my own thread because I don’t want to clutter up this one or the sharing one. We got disappointing news yesterday. Provincial rules changed and we aren’t going to be able to spend Christmas with Dean’s family. Up until then, we were allowed to meet in groups of 5 or less, but now you can’t visit anyone outside your household. I’d already come to terms with not seeing my family, but this still hit hard. I know it’s important and we won’t be breaking the rules. We bought a webcam so we can have better video for our virtual Christmas morning. I’m still waiting for a few Christmas packages to arrive, too. Fortunately I don’t have to resend them anywhere. One is for my BIL and 3 are for Dean. One is an ornament I ordered him from Etsy. It’s a dumpster labeled 2020 with a tea light in it to illuminate the flames coming out the top. It seemed fitting.

kelly8875, I am so sorry for your loss. How terrible for your BF and thank goodness you are there for him. I keep trying to add another sentence to offer support and hopeful thoughts, but I'm failing. Really, just trying to express that I'm thinking of you!!! I'm sure I got on to them about just "sprinkling" the sugar on, so that it last and to stop wasting it. Grandkids sure change your perspective. I let Rudy decorate with abandon and just laugh about it. For many years, I would make PILES of sugar cookies at Christmas/Valentines/Easter, and let the kids at them. We'd make lots of different coloured icings, have tonnes of sprinkles and candies, and set them up at a table covered by a clean bedsheet so that when they were done we'd just gather the bedsheet, shake outside, and throw it in the wash. I even sent this set up to school twice and the teachers loved me for it (or so they said. I dunno. Mess + sugar high kids? hmmm). I never stopped them from eating icing/licking fingers, or being creative. HOWEVER, I did squash attempts to put too much on 1 cookie, because then it wouldn't be eaten, and I can't handle waste! I told them that they could decorate any way they wanted, but they would have to eat it in the end!!! They learned quickly that too much doesn't taste good... msliz - YIKES! Well wishes to them, it's scary knowing how long symptoms can last. Are you keeping your eye/ear on them? I made a cookie bark yesterday. It’s a dumpster labeled 2020 with a tea light in it to illuminate the flames coming out the top. So, cookie bark? do you break up oreos or some yumminess like that and then pour the chocolate overtop? Please share. I hadn't considered this and I think my kids would love it... LOL with the ornament!!! I think we all just need t-shirts that say "I survived 2020" but noone is going to make them YET because it's not quite over, is it? I'm SO sorry about your family restrictions. My Dad will come for Christmas altho that's a negative thing for us - we're doing it because we are obligated and he is on his own so he's allowed. BIL/SIL and kids are thinking of coming for New Years. Our regions aren't in lockdown, but we're still watching the situations. Today I do have to do some shopping: the dance teachers need a gift, and I have to find something to augment my Mom's box a bit. Her box will go out tomorrow express post.

msliz - prayers for your sister and BIL nylene - I'm loving the cards as well justjac - your ornament sounds perfect. I'm sorry about the change in Christmas plans - it's hard, I know. kitbop - never thought of the bedsheet but yes, we did sugar cookie decorating for all the holidays when mine were small. I should bake up a batch this year - we still have plenty of sugars and sprinkles. I never minded the mess - it cleaned up easily enough and they had a blast. I do remember the year my oldest decorated my birthday cake for me...it was crunchy with coloured sugar but he was SO proud...I think he was 4 or 5 then. Looks like our house closing will be Monday provided no other paperwork issues crop up. DS's is still up in the air - not sure if he'll end up closing or re-starting the house hunt.

kitbop the cookie bark is 14 Oreos broken up (I get the holiday mint ones), 3/4 cup of holiday m&m’s, and 1 1/2 cups of broken pretzels spread on wax paper on a baking sheet. You melt a pound of chocolate and pour it over. You then sprinkle 1/4 cup of the m&m’s on top and sprinkles if you want. This is a double batch.

Good morning, Pokeys! msliz, I hope you are finding ways this holiday season to refill your own cup. One of the most important lessons I learned from Cancer a quarter century ago was to say three things: "I need some help", "I need a nap," "I need a hug". Of course, the hardest thing was knowing which one it was! This marathon everyone has been on this year has us all down to our last dregs, and leaves us feeling empty when a new crisis hits like your sister & bil's diagnosis. I hope that the treatments administered in ER have helped and that they are both on their way to recovery. joyfulnana, I love your cookie story. I used to bake in the middle of the night so that I didn't have to accept my kids' "help" with baking and decorating. Yet, with my dgk's it is no holds barred! I have two ddil's who really abhore MESS, but they are indulgent enough--of their kids and of me--that when I go there, they often plan things like pumpkin carving or gingerbread house decorating or cookie baking so that we can have quality gramma & me time. And when the kids are here, we bake. Never thought of the fitted sheet trick, kitbop, just lots of sheets of newspaper, but I think I will try that idea next time there is a decorating fest. nylene, you and your dh have the sweetest family and friends. Too bad that the special lamp did not help your dh in his workshop. I have not been out of the house since Friday, but most of my holiday prep is done. The last of my gift orders arrived on Tuesday, and I immediately wrapped up the gifts and got my last box into the mail. Dh has been doing the driving into town this week, dropping off packages at the post office and picking up mail and a few groceries. He has been going in to the public health office for daily dressing changes on his shin, after an injury on the weekend. He has "diabetic legs", so the skin tears really easily with the slightest bump, and because he is on blood thinners, any healing takes a long time. I think I am going stir crazy. I ended up reorganizing and cleaning a corner of my craft room yesterday. When in the past have I ever had the time to sort ENVELOPES for size in December? (or any time, really... ) Looking forward to meeting up with justjac on Saturday. This will be a gift exchange for the ages--in a gas station parking lot!!! I am making this a road trip. I have front step drop offs to make for my sister in law and for my niece's family, and hoping to do those on the same day.

grammadee, how I wish I could be a little mouse watching as you and justjac get together, even at a distance at a gas station! So glad that you can do that. I laughed at you sorting your envelopes. The things that make us happy in our scraprooms! Have a safe trip. I hope DH heals as quickly as possible and well. justjac, that bark looks so good if I don't think of the mint. Mint (even the smell) makes me sick. But chocolate and regular Oreos look like it would be a delicious treat! I'm so sorry your Christmas plans have changed because of Covid. We are experiencing the same thing. I hope next year will be better. joyfulnana, have you ever made Gingerbread houses with Rudy? I would love to do one with Alex, but not during Covid. I wonder if he's too young? Maybe one of his sisters will try one with him this year. I'm still chuckling over his cookie! I love it. msliz, how is your sister and her DH doing? I hope they are improving each day. Linda, I am so happy for you to be closing on your home on Monday. Do you plan to move in immediately, or a little at a time? I'm sure you are busy with baking and and decorating and gifting. What a time to be involved in a move. Hang in there. I need to run to get DH to his eye treatment appt. Waving to each of you. BBL

justjac - that looks delicious and easy grammadee - I hope your DH's leg heals as quickly as possible with no complications. How fun to do a distanced exchange with justjac. It sounds like you've got lots accomplished. nylene - best wishes for your DH and his eye treatment. So...my freezer is dying...the good news is that because we've been eating it down in preparation for moving, I was able to squeeze almost everything into the fridge freezer. Hopefully once we close, we can buy a new one for the new house. I had already planned on purchasing a new one as this one is 23 years old. Closing is still not 100% - the bank called today to ask more questions. Apparently we don't tick all the usual boxes (we have no debt, the current house was paid off earlier this year, we havn't put it on the market yet, and we're only moving about 6 miles)

Happy Thursday! Feeling a little grey today but with all the events of 2020 some grey days are to be expected. So I am slowing moving through my day. I filmed two videos yesterday with my new Julie Nutting doll stamp and that was fun. I hope to bake a sweet potato pie this afternoon. I hope it comes out good. The last one I made was under cooked on the crust at the bottom. So this time I will precook the crust and go from there. Just weird the recipe didn't include precooking the crust. I hope to find some new recipes. I am so tired of everything I have been cooking. With all this home cooking I have been doing, I need some new fresh ideas. For Christmas, it will be just my dh and I. He adores Chinese food so we will have that for the holidays. We haven't had any Chinese since before the quarantine so this will be a real treat. I still have a few more cards to make and send. I ordered Ron's gift and still waiting for a few. Our other family gifts will be gift cards and a photobook I ordered from Walmart. Hugs to msliz and kelly8875! My prayers are with you and your loved ones. Hang in there and sending you both some virtual hot tea. justjac- Oh, you will like the t-shirts. I love mine and I hope you enjoy! Look at that yummy bark! Great job! Also, I hope you and grammadee have fun at the party. Waving hi to all of you and have a lovely rest of your day!

Hugs kellyr21 - I hope your grey-day lifts! hope to find some new recipes. I am so tired of everything I have been cooking. With all this home cooking I have been doing, I need some new fresh ideas. What do you eat regularly that you are tired of? I'm curious. Maybe your ideas are completely out of the box for me! I can imagine it is very different cooking for 2 instead of 5. We make a lot of: soup (potato/bacon soup, and a sausage/cabbage soup are our standards); shepherd's pie; dinner salads; tuna melts; macaroni and cheese; hamburgers; pizza (we are so done with pizza...too much this year!); a chicken breast dish with broccoli; nachos with shredded chicken; pulled pork; butter chicken or tofu; crackers with meat/cheese/veggies. As a treat, we have a roast, or make sushi, or have a baked brie/crusty bread/crackers for supper with a salad. We haven't had any Chinese since before the quarantine so this will be a real treat. We ordered in Chinese for DH's birthday back in May because he loves it. But honestly, it's not very good around here. I'd love some GOOD Chinese food! One of our traditions is Christmas Eve pizza, eaten by the Christmas tree in our new PJs. This year: 1. none of us need PJs and we're all old enough that we have sadly agreed to leave that tradition for this year. 2. We are all pretty tired of pizza because with the busy-ness and stress in our house we've been ordering pizza about once/week. It used to be a treat but now it's not. It would be fun to do Chinese, but like I said, the quality in our area is sad. I think we'll resort to baked brie for Christmas Eve - we want something without leftovers and something very very different from turkey Linda - we also need a new deep freeze. Ours came with the house - 20 years ago - and wasn't new then!!! The ice build up in it is AWFUL. But I haven't been able to convince myself to spend the money. Ours is an upright and I want to stick with that because I find it so much easier to see things than with a chest. nylene - I had to laugh at your hatred of mint. It's such a love/hate flavour. My family can devour a box of after-eights in 1 game of cards. One of our "must bake" Christmas treats is my normal brownies with melted mint patties on the top. It's actually only DH and DS1 who like these, but they've already demolished a 9x12 pan and I will have to make more this weekend! How often does your DH have to go for his eye treatment? grammadee - ugh, diabetic wounds are the worst. Farmers + diabetes = high risk for wounds! I hope his leg is improving. You do not sit still very well, do you? I can just see you reorganizing your craft space justjac - I bought my chocolate and pretzels yesterday! Today is my last day off work before Christmas. I have to finish some more cards for local friends, work on my MILs calendar (she is accepting that it won't bee there for Christmas thank goodness) and research one last gift. DS1 and DS2 are buying a UV/LED nail light (to make gel nails?) for their sister for Christmas, but when we went to purchase (on Amazon) there were TOO MANY choices and I know nothing about them to even know if we should be buying the $20 version or the $60 version - are they all cheap crap or will spending the extra money actually help?? Well, 1 week until Christmas - hope everyone is well! gramma, haven't heard from you in a while and I see that CA is really rockin' the covid - is everyone OK?

kellyr21 and kitbopI made swedish meatballs in the crockpot yesterday that were a hit here. We do variations on tacos/taco salad/burritos most weeks, D20 is making stuffed pasta shells next week and tortillini casserole next week. A surprise hit earlier in the year we've made several times is cabbage with kielbasa - it cooks up quick and easy also which is a win. Chicken (or turkey) curry, shepherd's pie, cottage pie, and a chicken casserole (similar to tuna casserole but chicken based - I have 2 tuna refusers) are regulars here. we did takeaway Chinese from a local place for DD14's birthday and it was excellent. Christmas eve pizza is our tradition also and we're keeping it this year (along with the christmas pyjamas). kitbop - we'll be switching from a chest to an upright - I'm tired of struggling to reach stuff at the bottom. I think I need instructions for your mint brownies! Closing has been moved again - this time to Tuesday. I really hope it doesn't end up falling through.

Well I've tried 3 times to reply to this thread and lost my reply everytime. Grrrr. Hugs to everyone that needs one and well to everyone because we all need them in this horrible very bad year! @kelly8878 I'm so sorry for your loss. msliz I hope you are still holding together. How are your sister and BIL? Are the crops going to be on Saturday night again? I will be there as often as possible! I miss them! grammadee I hope DH is doing alright. I would never have thought to bake during the night without "helpers" lol. justjac, I'm sorry your plans have been dashed. Your oreo bark looks delicious! Linda fingers crossed the closing happens with no more delays. nylene I haven't done a gingerbread house with Rudy. He and his dad did one a couple years ago. It was the castle from the movie Frozen. Except that it was meant for Rudy do with his cousins. oops I'm trying to do JYC and the prompts just aren't resonating for me. If I can get grammadee to send me printable copy of the prompts from the Nov crop I think I will take my book that direction. There were so many good prompts! I'm still not sure when or how we are doing Christmas here. I think we are going to set up a family zoom call with my sisters and their families and my mom. I hope that works out anyway. I love all the cards. It's so nice to get some happy mail and they are all beautiful! kellyr21 I'm sick of my own cooking too. And would LOVE some good Chinese. That sounds like an excellent way to celebrate. I am sick to death of pizza as well kitbop. It's so easy to order one in, but man after awhile it doesn't even sound good any more. I better try to get some things done. I still have all the wrapping and a good amount of baking left. No bakes, peanut butter balls and fudge. Everything chocolate. I need to look for some fresh recipes for the holidays too. Dinner here is a meat and cheese tray. Easy peasy and no cooking!

(((Hugs))) and prayers for all the Pokies this season - it's a tough one. joyfulnana - looks like the closing will happen on Tuesday - we cleared underwriting today so everything is good on the bank's end now. Fingers crossed still. I have baking to do still too - sugar cookies, dark cocoa crinkles, mince pies, toffee triangles, and DH wants me to make some ritz cracker/peanut butter/chocolate things. I kind of what to try the saltine toffee bark.

whoooHooo Linda, on another hurdle overcome toward the signing! I am excited to see my LSS wrapped gift, too, joyfulnana. This is why I went this way rather than just buy something for myself. Will share after Christmas, cuz that one is going under the tree until then. Excited too for my socially distanced outdoor gift exchanges today, with my sil, niece and @justjack. One of my brothers is going to join into the parking lot meeting with our sil. So I will be like Santa going out and then come home with our own gifts for under the tree. For one of our ds's I had ordered a light up toque that says "Sleighin' It!" It arrived too late to go into his gift box before I had to put that in the mail. Do you think I should wear it today? Or maybe I should give it to my brother who LOVES to drive around the country dropping off gifts this time of year? Cleaning has been kind of a freeform scavenger hunt, where I am not looking for anything specific, but finding treasures I either did not know I had, or knew somehow I had them but had no idea where they were. Unearthed a bunch of pic's of the kids, and also a die set that had never come out of the package. Used one of the pic's yesterday with some scraps from cardmaking, and going to be using another of those pic's and the newfound die with some new Christmas papers and a lift from one of audreykit's Gallery pages. I put together a page yesterday and have another one started this morning, using pictures from when my kids were young. Shared the first on the sharing thread, but will share them both here when I get the second one done, probably tomorrow. Okay, off to pack up my sleigh!

Happy Saturday! It is a sunny day today and I am in a better mood. I did my hair yesterday and that is a full day of activity. So glad I am done and my hair feels so much better. I gave myself a "quarantine" hair cut a few months ago and I giggled when I saw how uneven my hair still is. LOL! Oh well! Here is my new Julie Nutting doll stamp set tutorial. I made a slimline Christmas card and I hope you all check it out. So cute! Link HereJulie Nutting Doll Stamp Set by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Slimline Christmas Cards by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr

Yay Linda! That's wonderful news! Keeping my fingers crossed for DS's to work out too. kellyr21 those cards are beautiful! You are very talented. I thought many times of giving myself a covid-cut. I held off and finally went to get it cut last weekend lol. grammadee that is your DS? I love that song to begin with and he has a beautiful voice. That song is so perfect for 2020. I LOVE his sweater though! lol. That's going to be fun having surprises under the tree. I decided next year I'm giving DS's my scrappy wish lists from different stores and let them shop from those. I think you should wear the togue lol. Although it would make a great gift for your brother as well. I still have the same amount of candy to get made today. And I have no more days to procrastinate. We are doing Christmas here on Wednesday evening with the boys and one GF. We will have zoom call with my mom so she can see everyone. Then will do Christmas morning with DS and Rudy. So candy has to be done today. I'm not sure if I shared this already, but Rudy has been dropping hints that Dad has enough room for a pet too. After all, "you have the same amount of space here that mom has and we have a dog AND a cat there" lol And said he was asking Santa for a dog or cat for Christmas - which he did ask Santa for lol. Cody adopted a dog yesterday. An 18 month hound mix named Bud. He is a goofy sweetheart and very high energy, just like Rudy, they should get along very well. lol. My mojo is coming back finally. I may actually do my sketch I posted 2 weeks ago and I have a couple of other pages in the works.

It was great driving around exchanging gifts in parking lots and on porches yesterday. My sil had posted on fb that she felt like a gangster in a mask handing out and receiving packages near the dumpster yesterday. When dd shared that with me, I told her that if I was a drug dealer I would be RICH after all those quick exchanges! Think I am rich in different ways, though. The facetime with justjac, unwrapping gifts was wonderful. And the contents of my gift bag were perfect. Nothing like getting toys for Christmas! Needless to say, expect more slimline cards from me in the future... I didn't open the gift she delivered from the LSS. That will be opened Christmas morning.

Yes that is our son, joyfulnana, and I too love his voice: and his sweater in the video! With our experience with Google last night and today, I think we will need to switch to MEET, or another platform for our Hangouts. Seems Google is phasing out the Hangout video discussions. justjac assures me that MEET is easy to work with, though. After I acquired a new gmail address, I asked her to start a chat and send me the link, and it worked great. Put together this page today with a photo I have used before, but I love it. kelly8875, I am sorry for your loss. I passed ACLS! The first day a dentist was helping with the mock codes and scenarios. He wasn’t very helpful and wasn’t very nice with his comments. He wouldn’t let us say certain words for things as we are used to calling them. He made me so nervous!! I was glad when I saw he wasn’t going to be there on testing day.. The start of day 2, the instructors told us the things he told us wrong and that we can use the words in regards to the lifepac. I get so nervous with having to do things in front of people but passed. The written test wasn’t that hard and I made a 98%. I am going to get Christmas cards addressed and sent out tomorrow. I am getting them out later than I had planned. We have been running full capacity with the telemetry at work. They are sending us some patients that makes me wonder if they are really appropriate. I get told they are but I don’t really want to use my new ACLS skills! We got an email last week that they are adding more telemetry. I am unsure if that means adding it to the whole unit or just additional monitors. I am not surprised if they do increase the amount of telemetry. Tomorrow is DH and I’s 5th anniversary. He wants to rent a car and drive to the Branson area. I don’t want to be out in public that much and I can’t get him to understand the seriousness of everything. Tomorrow may be interesting! Lol!

happy anniversary, knutschen! I hope you can come to some kind of compromise on how to spend it. A drive with just the two of you should be safe, but I would worry about browsing shops or eating at a sit down restaurant. Not that there would be much of that going on in Alberta , with restaurants at take-out only, and no live events like craft fairs or open markets. Grocery stores have signs up asking people to restrict their shoppers to one/family at a time, so no strolling around there as a couple, either...

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a good weekend. We did! Just rested and started some of our Christmas traditions. We started decorating yesterday and will put up our tree tonight. We went to our city hall area and took our annual pictures in front of the beautiful Christmas tree. It was hot today but we wore our sweaters anyway. LOL! I love taking and ordering our holiday picture cards every year. I get mine from Walmart. I am glad you all liked that JN doll stamp. She is cute and I had fun creating with her. Thanks to all of you who saw the video. grammadee - What a fun time you had with your gift exchange. So happy you and justjac got to meet. I am also looking forward to seeing what is in your gift from lss. knutschen - CONGRATS! That process you had to go through sounded tough and you made it!!!! Also, congrats on your 5th wedding anniverary. It is hard to believe it has been five years. Enjoy whatever you guys do. kitbop - Ok, my cooking routine includes Trader Joe's chicken fried rice, orange chicken, stir fry with sausage and burgers and fries. I get some other things in there from time to time but these are staples of my week. TJ has a lot of premade meals and that saves me time and energy. But it is time for a change. I found a recipe website and I want to try several dishes. Fingers crossed I can overhaul our menu. #sobored LOL! joyfulnana - You got your mojo back! Yippee! With all the scrapping we have done this year, I guess we need time to recharge. I haven't scrapped in a while, too. I am enjoying cards and journal now.

knutschen - congratulations!!! That's a load off. We have an outbreak in the telemetry unit (OK, not IN the telemetry unit thank goodness, but adjacent to it so they aren't admitted to tele) so our ICU step-down/tele is running out of PACU (that's recovery room for the non-medical people ) and PACU has moved in with surgical day care. Doing stuff in PACU is a gong show. I won't say anything more. At least we have the same cardiac monitors! kellyr21 - enjoy your tropical christmas preparations!

Sorry I've been MIA. Just a lot going on here right now. One grand-daughter has hit a rough patch. She is staying with us for bit. Her parents (particularly her Dad) are not very happy with us but I absolutely was not letter her drift away. Winter I am finding is a baaaaddd time for dementia> Holy Mary - can someone send me any extra patience you have??
Sorry to hear about the rough times others are having. It seems to be harder to deal with these things this year. There has been soooo much negativity it is sometimes hard to see how fortunate many of us really are.
So - I'm fine - I didn't leave the board in a snit - No hair flip. Just in a funky place.
Love you guys. Don't know what I would do without this place!!
