linda, I am sorry for you loss. nylene, My parents didn’t want to get together for Thanksgiving with all the restrictions. I worked the Holiday. I did when I was off cooked a Thanksgiving meal for my DH and I. It was a nice evening. Our cases have been going up and work has been crazy! One reason they pushed the telemetry on us so quick was because of the bed shortage and needing more telemetry beds. Now, we have started taking Covid patients that are 10-20 days out from testing positive for them to finish their recovery. The last number I heard was 157 Covid patients. Last week, they increased our beds from 36 to 42 patients. We don’t have enough staff for the 36! kellyr21, My pets are doing good. The cats are wild and crazy and my pug loves to cuddle! ❤️ I haven’t gotten to practice much on my guitar and work through my lessons much. I have been too tired from work and trying to study for a few things for work. I hope soon that I will be able to pick up where I left off. I have my last class this coming week that I have been studying for. joyfulnana, I am glad you and your family have been alright with the exposure. Luckily, he had a mild case and hopefully doing well now. kelly8875, Welcome! I love your grinchmas decor! I have had my nights and days all turned around this weekend. I was really hoping to get some things accomplished but I have accomplished some sleep. I have been trying to study for my ACLS which is on Wednesday. I am a bit nervous about the class but I have been told they help you along the way. Other co-workers that has been say it isn’t that bad. I will feel better when I am done! I got the pre-test done and need to read and memorize some things. I haven’t gotten my tree up. I still have my old futon in the living room with my new couch which is taking up room. I have called a place to donate it but they can’t pick it up till January 12th. I don’t have a way to deliver it myself. So, we wait! 😂 My DH wants the tree up put we can’t decide where to put the tree. Plus, the kitties like to try to climb it so I am not in a huge rush as my husband is. I had better get back to studying before DH comes home from work.

Hi, everyone. I know I just wanted to thank nylene for the beautiful Christmas card! We've been in a habit of gettin mail, setting it down and then not looking at it for a week. So I don't know when I received the card, but I opened it just the other day. It brought a smile to my face. It also made me think I should update the pokeys on our life. Don has started back to work, officially it was last Monday as a start date, however, he has been working since mid-November. He worked for a steel company long ago and then consulted for them when he had his own consulting business a couple of years ago. The reason he had his own consulting business is that another company, Cliffs downsized their employment and he was let go. Cliffs is in the process of buying the steel company. Don is still friendly with the people at both and upon hearing, reached out to let them know things they should look at for. He also has vast experience with aquisitions. I guess someone resigned and the boss reached out to Don immediately to see if he was interested in a role. It was his 2 favorite companies to work for. His boss actually knows about risk management and they can have real conversations. He's very excited. Best of all, he gets to work remotely. With our last move, he's perfectly positions to be at most of the major plants and the Cleveland office within 2 - 4 hours drive time. I started working towards losing weight at the end of May. When I first started it was get those 10,000 steps, then it was go for milage. I'm averaging just over 200 miles per month. I've slowed down the last month, but still working on walking, just gave up on weights for a bit. I've lost 45lbs, unfortunately, I still have 100 to go, but I'm making progress. DS is applying to colleges. I can't believe he'll graduate this coming spring. DD is still struggling. We went to a Christmas tree farm the other day and it was the first time she was out of the house that she had to wear a mask. She had only been for walks around the neighborhood. I'm not the least bit interested in papercrafting at the moment and lamenting the room full of supplies which also houses my computer, so I don't go in there often. I'm going to be moving the computer into my bedroom. Cleaning out the craft room. We're then going to transition the kids into the room and finish their rooms and then ours, one by one. Then I think Don will take that room as his office. I hope to come back sometime and rejoin you all, but for now, I'm just letting myself be. I do wish you all a happy holiday season and think of you all often with good thoughts and positive vibes being sent your way. Hugs to you, dear friends.

knutschen - working/being friends with so many nurses myself - wow, your post sounds *so* like them. I am thankful I don't have to work night shift. Good luck on the ACLS - you will do great! My youngest cat (1) ate some of the tree needles when we put it up and gave himself an upset tummy. Fortunately, it settled down quickly. He has a chronic upper respiratory infection (since he was a few weeks old), and we think he has no sense of smell because he will eat everything - from banana peels (not kidding) to christmas trees (again, not kidding...) LisaDV - thank you for thinking of us and popping in! Your name comes up in conversation a lot, and we were worrying about you. I'm so glad to hear your DH's job worked out positively!!! My DD graduates this Spring as well, and she has started university applications. Hopefully enough vaccinations will have happened by fall 2021 to let these kids fly! I'm sorry your DD is struggling. Hugs to her. I'm sure you have some holiday goodies up your sleeve specially made for her And 45 lbs is amazing! The slower your take it off the better the chance of maintaining. I'm afraid I have a 30 lb yo-yo in my weight. It went up with covid, and I'm now struggling to get it back down. But I am reminding myself that the reason the yo-yo exists is because I tend to do it too quickly. So going at it more slowly is probably good for me. Pop in when you can and say hi! You are missed

It also made me think I should update the pokeys on our life. I came looking for you and am glad I found this update. You are a light on this board and it will be a little less bright without you. I hope you find your way back to us and crafting!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you all are doing well. I love getting all this happy mail! You gals are so talented. I am working on a video for this Friday showing how I made your cards. So fun! Here is a special moment that happened to me in September. I wrote about it on my blog and hope my little miracle story inspires you. It is called, "A Musical Message in the Grassy Lawn." Link HereLisaDV - OH SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU!!! Wishing you the best and hop in whenever you can just to say hi if you like. Our friendship goes past papercrafts. God bless you sweet friend. grammadee - Oh sorry you were having trouble getting Google for my giveaway. Maybe next time but thanks for trying. kelly8875 - It is so fun having another Kelly here!!! LOL! Your Grinchmas is so fun! Waving hi to ya! nylene - I hoped you would love that painted card. You were the only one to get that one. Hugs to ya! knutschen- Glad your fur babies are well. knutschen , I understand about your parents not wanting to be at risk. It seems that's the first thing I think of when I hear that there are activities planned. I choose to continue to isolate as much as possible. I am sorry that Covid has increased so much at your hospital. We are over capacity at the big local hospital. There are beds, but not enough staff. Please take care of yourself. I am glad you have your friends and husband and pets to lift your spirits! LisaDV , it's so nice to hear from you. I am glad that the work situation is good for your DH. I hope this becomes even better than his last job. It's hard to believe that your DS is graduating. They grow up so fast. Does he want to stay close to home next year, or adventure out to a distant college? I hope your DD gets through this winter OK. She has had a long road and it seems it's her turn for good health. Em's DD had the surgery for MALS and has done so well. She is a different girl. I wish you could find a magic answer for DD. BTW, congrats on the weight loss. I have just put all mine back on through Covid. I'm a nervous eater. Please drop by once in a while to let us know how you are doing. Take all the time you need. I'm sure the scrapping bug will come back sometime when things feel more normal. kitbop , I didn't realize your DD would graduate this year. What are her plans? Does she plan to make a career of Dance? I hope that we have enough people vaccinated by Fall so these kids can do the things they want in planning their futures. We have a DGD who will graduate this year too. kellyr21 , I missed your giveaway. I kept thinking I need to check out 2peas, but I just haven't had a minute to sit down. Mondays are "in the car all day" days. I did get to step into Hobby Lobby for about 5 minutes. That's a first in many many months. I love reading your posts and watching your videos. You give me such an uplift. joyfulnana , has your work slowed down now that it has turned cold? I'm so glad you have your new kitty to keep you company, and glad that she and Rudy are friends again. I got to see Alex for about 5 minutes yesterday. He came in and stowed all my Christmas Village boxes under the Village setup. It's so hard for us to get down on our knees and he did it in just a few minutes. Em dropped off a wedding invitation and saw all the boxes in the living room. She took it on herself to have him come in and quickly stow them. Aren't grandchildren a blessing! (and children too) I started this post hours ago, but didn't hit send. In the meantime I read your blog, kellyr21 , and cried. I had to go read it to DH who cried too. He's even more emotional than I am! What a beautiful, tender, touching story. I call those sweet times "tender mercies" when I know that a blessing comes in answer to prayer. We have had a lot of tender mercies this year along with all the discouraging times. Thank you for sharing that kellyr21 .

LisaDV it so good to hear from you! And that's wonderful that DH has found a job it sounds like he'll love. 45lbs is quite an accomplishment, good for you! I agree with nylene, DD is due for a good health year. Where is DS thinking of for school next year? That's so exciting - or should be. I hope we are in a much better place this time next year. I hope you get the crafty bug again soon, but stop in and say Hi anyway, you are missed! kitbop I didn't realize your DD was graduating this year as well! Is she going to stay close to home? hahaha, pea number 5 to ask lol. @knutchen stay safe! I'm sorry to hear your hospital is loading up. We are here too. And that's what I keep hearing - it's not the number of beds, it's the shortage of staff. I have some big things I need to get hauled off somehow. I have hit the limit of what my apartment can hold. A brutal purge/declutter is in my very near future. Everything except scrap supplies lol. nylene Alex is a sweetie, and it sounds like you have a very special bond with him. I have a sketch and photos for Saturday's sketchy sketch that I'm posting Saturday. Hopefully there will be a LO go along with it lol. For now, I need to head to bed. And Oh! Yes, work has slowed down quite a bit now. This time of year I don't totally hate my job lol. kellyr21 I love watching Mahomes play too. It feels so good to finally have a good team after all the losing/almost winning years.

Thought I'd check in with you too and say hello to everyone. Hi I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms from not seeing you on the weekend virtual crops! I'm going to start them up again in January, and I think I can commit to hosting through March. I hope you can all pop in to chitchat for a little while even if you're not planning on crafting. My life isn't a complete wreck, but I'm not getting a whole lot of anything done these days. Just puttering around helping other family members with their daily challenges. DD17 has ADHD and anxiety, and is struggling with school. Her sleep schedule is really screwed up and it's throwing me off too. I end up napping at some point in the day, and then I'm up too late again. I'm trying to set more detailed daily goals for myself, and it's helpful. Back when I was a retail manager, I did a walk-through every morning and prioritized tasks for everyone, and now I'm doing it for my house. I have a clipboard and everything, lol. I have cooking plans for later today after we get a fire going in the fireplace. It's going to stay below freezing today. I have gifts to wrap too. Hope you all have a good week. It's great to see you LisaDV !

Happy Wednesday! It is a sunny day and I hope to get out there in a few minutes to get my exercise in. Hey, you know I have been hosting the exercise thread for 20 weeks now!!! Wow, this time has gone so fast. I haven't done this much exercise in ages and it feels good. If you ladies want to join us. jump in anytime. Link Herenylene- WOW! I am so glad you and your dh were moved by my little miracle in the lawn! I wanted to share it with you gals and just decided to post it on my blog. I emailed it to some family and friends and I hope to scrapbook about it. With all the crazy things happening this year, it feels calming to know God is with us. msliz- I miss those hangouts from the Summer, too. I hope to join ya next month. I had hoped to join the current group but my Saturdays have had other priorities. Good to see ya here! Also, I am sending your dd well wishing with her schooling and emotions. I know it must be tough and stressful for the kids these days. Waving hi to you all!

Good morning Pokeys! I thought I'd drop by to check on everyone and to say "hi!". Life here has been really busy. I'm in the middle of a merger and have been slammed busy. I'm super tired of working long days, but I think it will continue for a while. The merger will be finished on 3/31 and the other CEO will be leaving in January. I've been working on this merger for the last 9 months, the other board of directors have been a real challenge at times, but in the next couple of weeks the document should be signed and hopefully this will be less difficult.
Kelly8875 - Welcome! I loved your Grinch goodies. My husband made exterior decorations for our house that are all Grinch themed. He made a couple of new Whoville characters to add to it this year.
I decorated the inside of our house the day after Thanksgiving. We have 6 trees up (three of them are 4-5 ft tall, so they are littler). Since I'm working at home full-time, I wanted it to feel festive and happy, it makes me feel a little better about the work. I've bought most of the Christmas gifts for our families and am getting ready to start on getting Christmas going for the kiddos in the shelters at my work (I lead a nonprofit that serves kids). We can't do their shopping until pretty close to Christmas because the kids come and go and most don't stay long-term. We usually shop on the 22nd-23rd for them, but I go meet with each of the kids because I want to make sure we make their holidays special since they are spending them in a shelter. Our family usually goes to the shelter on Christmas morning, but we won't get to this year because we have kids with Covid at the shelter, so they are locked down.
Anywho, it is nice to see all of you. I hope you have a nice day!

Nice to see so many Pokeys checking in! Stay safe, knutschen . And good luck with your studies. Hopefully when the vaccine rolls out, your workplace will become less hectic and the people in charge will be able to go back to long term planning. I am sure most of them didn't get into those roles by rolling with the punches... LisaDV , we have missed you. Please continue to drop in from time to time, even if your life has moved away from crafting for the moment. And even if you declutter your craft room and get rid of all those IRL supplies, that you will keep the options open to continue digitally. You are such a talented artist! I am glad your dh's employment situation looks so positive and that you are feeling so physically fit. Wow! So many steps... Good for you! And (((((hugs))))) to your dd for her anxiety. I hope that having the tree in the house and the holiday decorating will lift her spirits. And I hope ds's college and career decisions go smoothly. So amazing that these kids are growing up! Good luck with the merger, shinyhappytina. With all the energy you have, setting up all those trees in your home, I wish I could import you for a day and finish decorating my ONE tree! Thanks for the mental image, msliz , of you going through the house each morning with your clipboard setting up your management goals for the day! Love it! I will be back later to chat.

Happy Hanukkah, msliz ! nylene , it was so sweet that Alex stowed away all your village boxes. Did you ever think, on the way to this age, that reaching something down low would be a problem? And I can often get down there, but getting up is the problem! I set my village out on top of the china cabinet yesterday. Didn't plug in the little houses this year, but I am loving the look of it anyway. kellyr21 , our dogs and cats are doing fine. One fat cat keeps trying to sneak into the house if we open the garage door without shooing him away. So we are getting our exercise cornering and capturing him wherever he decides to think he can hole up. What is funny is that when we do catch him, he purrs and purrs while we carry him back to the door. Sometimes I think that is his goal in the first place. Can you have a pet in your place? I'll bet you would love it! kitbop , I hope you are staying safe, and with your hectic work schedule plus having the family around all the time that you get enough time to rest and relax. What is your dd's goal for after high school? My dgs is really feeling in limbo. In his last year of hs, he is doing his courses on line, and now his other social activity--the hockey team--has been shut down again with new Covid regulations. I think he--like a LOT of Canadian boys--was dreaming of being discovered by a scout and placed on a prestigeous hockey team which would lead to the NHL. At the very least, he was hoping for a couple of years of junior hockey before he had to make any other career decisions. That vaccine can't come too fast... If we can quit worrying about the vulnerable people, maybe the youngsters can get their lives back... Glad you are getting a respite from the heavy work schedule, joyfulnana . And that the covid cases in your family are on the milder side. Good luck with your Sketchy sample page. I have not put a page together for weeks, but I keep thinking I will be able to get back to that SOON. And sketches really help me get started. I miss the hangouts, too. I had even thought I would start one this weekend just to chat with people while I tried to bring some order to this messy room, but I didn't get as much done this week as I had hoped in the wrapping and decorating realms, and I told myself I had to get my WORK done before I play, and I know once I start handling all my toys, I will probably just start playing, so not this week...
Today I am heading into town to pick up the mail and post some more boxes to family. Going to pick up groceries, too, and some other supplies as well. Not sure if the Purilator/fedex drop off place--a local gift store--will be open after tomorrow with new provincial regulations, so hoping that everything we ordered will be ready for pick up today. TTYL.

Hello, all! shinyhappytina , it's always nice to see your pretty smile popping up. I don't know if you saw the note I left on scrapbook.com about reading Olivia's book. I was very impressed with her writing and her description of all the "behind the scenes" manipulations at the camp. I went back and reread the foreword after reading the book. I'm glad she and Anjay remain friends. Very insightful. I'm with grammadee , I'd love to import you for a day to whip this house into shape! How's the foot healing? kellyr21 , it has been a tradition in our home for years to read a Christmas story every night in Dec. I hope you don't mind, but I added your story to our Christmas stories. It may not have been in Dec, but the story and feeling fit right in. You are a great writer. Thank you for sharing your experience. msliz , I thought of you last night as I watched the menorah being lighted on TV. I hope you have a wonderful Hanakkah season. I look forward to seeing you again on Hangouts. grammadee , thank you so much for all the work and stress getting ready for Team Challenges next year. I am happy with whatever. I participate when I can, and ignore it when I am swamped with other things. We all love you for what you have done for this site. kitbop , I miss seeing you at hangouts! I really enjoyed those. I think I have given up trying to work into a Sunday schedule, but a week night or Sat. usually can work for me. I look forward to seeing you in the new year. How are you healing? I hope it is doing better. Please take good care of yourself. Covid is so rampant here that I hate leaving the house at all. When I read that your cat has no sense of smell I immediately thought Covid! I'm glad he's feeling better. joyfulnana , glad your busy, busy job has slowed down and that you don't hate it. Are you all ready for Christmas? My village is completed and my tree is in the middle of the room waiting for lights and garlands and will then be put in the corner for decorating. DH loves my mom's recipe for fruitcake. I have made him some each year since mom passed.(she always made one for him) He asked yesterday when I would get the supplies. I had some grocery shopping to do at 2 different stores, so added the ingredients to my lists. The first store had most of the supplies, but no candied cherries or pineapple. I went to the 2nd store and asked where I would find them. I got the run around from 2 different clerks and finally got a manager who let me know that they didn't order "any of that stuff this year". The look on her face said, "Only an old fuddy-duddy grandma wants that old stuff." I came home and called around to stores who said they had it. When I got there, they didn't! I decided calling was useless because I couldn't be sure they knew what they were talking about. I decided DH would have to do without, when we remembered a little store at the other end of the county, that was a mom & pop type grocery. We drove out and sure enough, they had everything. So tonight I will be baking fruitcakes. They are actually applesauce cake with some candied fruit and nuts added.

Happy Friday! It is chilly here but a good day. I will be finishing up part 3 of "Christmas Cards & Sassy Stencil Girls" video. So I know you all will enjoy seeing how I made your cards. Speaking of cards, I hope you all especially grammadee, @kipbop and justjac got my cards. I have loved all of your cards, too. I will be putting them up on my bookcase this weekend. nylene- Absolutely you can feel free to share my "music in the grass" story with your family and anyone else!!!! I love that you have such a wonderful tradition of reading a Christmas story every night! Our husbands must be related because Ron is a big fan of fruitcake, too. He got some the last week weeks and has been enjoying it with eggnog. I am not a fan of either so he gets to have it all to himself. LOL! grammadee- A cat? I didn't know about this little guy! LOL! Sounds like he is smart and is having a good time with you all. LOL! Yes, we can have a pet and I hope we can get a dog or cat in the near future. Our apartment is so small and we gotta figure some things out. I hope we can move next year so we can have space for a pet and a craftroom! Waving hi to you all and have a good evening!

he purrs and purrs while we carry him back to the door. Sometimes I think that is his goal in the first place We have an outdoor cat who has been forced to stay indoors since summer due to complaining neighbours. It is his goal in life to get outside - even if he pushes out a screen and jumps out a 2nd storey window. No kidding. But now...we lure him back into the house with ham or chicken... and he's learned to run out the door and wait for his treat! I think he's getting out just for the food. What is your dd's goal for after high school Katie is heading into a science (biology and chemistry) and math degree. She does NOT enjoy physics and does not want to go into engineering (too bad) but still wants to continue math. Her goal is to get her phD, and become a university prof. Not my cup of tea! DH loves my mom's recipe for fruitcake. I have made him some each year since mom passed I miss my Nana's fruitcake, complete with her fake marzipan topping that as a kid I thought was delectible, but nobody else in the family or our circle likes fruitcake at all. And it's a LOT of work too so I can't justify making it. I do make an orange/almond fruit cake every year to send to my mom, but it's truly just a cake with glacee fruit/peel in it. Not like a true fruitcake. This year, my challenge is mincemeat! My DH cannot live without mincemeat tarts. My Mom needs me to send her over a dozen, and my Dad and middle DS love them too. So they are a necessity. There is NO mincemeat anywhere! So I learned to make it last weekend. Fortunately, we have a local store with all the ingredients including beef suet and peel. It's quite good! My family is pacified for this year However, I will certainly go back to my favourite jarred variety next year provided it's available. @kellyr - yes, *thank you*, I got your card this week! It's gorgeous! I love those ladies Actually, I've only got 2 cards so far, and it makes me nervous that mine haven't reached anyone either. Of course, it's only Dec. 12

kitbop, my mom used to send me to the store to get suet for her mincemeat. She made it every year. I was never a big fan, but your post brought back memories. I would also be sent to buy a square of yeast or sometimes a half square if things were tight that month. I used to sneak just a tiny taste on the way home. It was years after I left home before mom went to dried yeast. We have it so much easier now in many ways. Can your DD keep up her dancing in college? That's when I quit because the only dance in college was ballroom. I did that for a couple of quarters, but I didn't love it like ballet.

Hello all. Just popping in quickly. I spent Thursday baking in between homeschool lessons - made mincemeat pies (the little ones), dark cocoa crinkle cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and candy cane cookies. DH helped with the candy cane cookies - which was very sweet. He got to mix in the food colouring into the dough and help roll out the 'snakes' to twist together into canes. It was rather more effort that I think he expected. Then yesterday we drove about 90 min to see DS - he's on a temporary assignment much closer to us. We all stayed masked up, grabbed fish and chips takeaway from Millers Ale House, and went to a park for a picnic and exploring. He'll be in his 14day quarantine over Christmas (in his apartment) and will hopefully close on his house by the end of the year. We're scheduled to close this coming week which is exciting! kitbop -I was beginning to think I would need to make mincemeat from scratch this year also but DH finally tracked some down for me - along with jarred onions for Christmas dinner (we gave a couple of jars to DS also - he couldn't find them either). My Gran always made her mincemeat from scratch - and her pie crust also...I cheat and buy rolled crust. I'm loving everyone's cat stories as I sit here with our smallest kitty tucked in between my back and my chair (her choice - it's not especially comfortable). Happy Chanukkah msliz

Now I want to go out and buy suet. Like I would find it here in our little town... Love the aroma of my grandmother's Christmas pudding steaming on top of the stove Christmas day while the turkey roasts in the oven... Her pudding calls for currents, raisins, cherries, and chopped candied fruit. And all the Christmas spices...
And I really miss my mil's dark Christmas cakes. She used to make them months ahead and soak them in brandy, then wrap them up tightly in foil. They were delicious!

Linda, what a blessing to be able to spend some time with DS. I'm sure he was glad to see you. It sounds like you had a great visit. Was the weather ok? It must have been if you had a picnic. Your baking sounds more ambitious that I am. What a sweet husband to help you with the cookies. Congrats on being ready to close on your home this week. Yeah! I have never heard of jarred onions. You will have to explain to me. grammadee, you reminded me of my mom's rich Christmas pudding/bread she baked in tin cans. It was stored in the basement and then heated, can and all in boiling water to warm it up. She made a rich sauce for it. I'd love to have that recipe just to put over cake. We never could find it in mom's stuff. It must have been just in her memory. DH has been helping an old high school friend with all kinds of woodworking. About every week he calls and comes over (masked up) to have some help with something. This has gone on for months and it has been good for DH to have him around. The 3 of us have been lifelong friends. Today he came with a big gift for DH. He told him if it didn't help him, he could return it. It was a big magnifying lamp on a wheeled base. He put it together and thought it would really help him see in the shop, but it really didn't. His blindness is such that magnifying doesn't help much. Light does help, but the whole thing seemed to get in his way. He debated for a long time, but finally called his friend and had him come over to see if he could see something we were missing. Together they decided it wasn't going to work and he will return it. What a thoughtful gift! DH was so touched by his kindness. I know he appreciates all the time DH has spend with him, but they have both enjoyed it. How I wish that there was something like that that could extend his vision.

grammadee - I want to make Christmas pudding next year - it was always traditional growing up but my mum never made hers, she bought it from the shop. nylene - we always had hard sauce with ours www.thespruceeats.com/hard-sauce-for-bread-pudding-3056248 is the recipe I use (I think mum bought hers ready-made - she really wasn't much of a cook despite owning a metric ton of cookbooks) nylene - it was a beautiful day, sunny, upper 60s. I'm glad I baked for DS (we have leftovers here too - yummy) - he just sent me a text "I have a small problem" and a photo of the empty container of mince pies - so glad he liked them. Jarred onions are for making creamed onions which we always have for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner - DH found me ONE jar for Thanksgiving, DS ended up buying pearl onions and making them from scratch - he said they were good but not the same thing. He was pleased to get two jars for Christmas dinner. auntnellies.com/whole-holland-style-onions/nylene - I'm so sorry that the magnifying light wasn't helpful for your DH but what a sweet friend to try and find something to help.

Glad you can see your ds, Linda. And I am getting excited about your new home. Did you decide what you were going to do for craft room furniture? I am not sure what sauce my grandmother used to put on her pudding, but it was kind of like a custard. The sauce I make with mine is much like the one that was included in the recipe for eggnog bread pudding, except that I use Amaretto instead of whiskey. Of course, with the suet in the pudding and the butter and cream in the sauce, this holiday favourite is pretty much off limits for me, my gall bladder says... Loving your stencil girl cards, kellyr21. Can't wait to see one IRL! And I am excited to see kitbop's painted card, too. Dh has a medical appointment in town tomorrow so I have given him strict instructions to pick up the mail!!! I had a couple of orders of gift items that were estimated to arrive early last week. Each day the tracking notice would update the day to the current one and state "at end of day". Our nephew's wife works in town and picks up the office mail each day, so she offered to ask for our parcels, but none arrived last week. On Friday morning, the tracking notice had changed to say "DELAYED", and my reaction was "Ya think?" Friday I packed up the boxes I had been holding in hopes of receipt of those items, and sent my gifts on their way. Guess what? The tracking notice this morning says that both parcels are in our local post office waiting for pick up! I have only one parcel to pack up for which the delayed item WAS the gift, so that will be sent out Friday (next time I go to town). My dgs knows his gift will be delayed. He had been planning on flying to Alberta to his mom's for Chistmas, but not sure if that plan is still in place with the new Covod restrictions. I had already let him know I would ship to his home in BC to arrive after Christmas.

kellyr21 - I loved my card - your stencil girls are SO cute! grammadee - I have a package showing delivered also and of course, I mailed parcels out this morning. At least this gift is small and can go in an envelope. Tons of delays here - priority mail is taking about 2 weeks (usually it's 2 days). I have my fingers crossed that my parcels arrive on time. no decision on craft room furniture because now dh is talking about that room being used for a library instead which would put me in a small corner of probably the guest room instead. We'll see...

Wow catching up on this thread and all I want is fruitcake and Christmas puddings Linda how exciting about the house! Fingers crossed you get to keep that room for yourself. How wonderful you got to spend time with DS. It's hard to believe you all waited so long for him to be stationed nearby and now Covid messed that up. boo. nylene your DH has a wonderful friend and how touching that he was trying to help him to see better. I hope his eyesight holds on. I had Rudy here for cookie baking this past Saturday. He only wanted to decorate, so I did the rolling out and baking myself. He used nearly a whole container of red sugar on three cookies lol. When my kids were little and we decorated cookies, I'm sure I got on to them about just "sprinkling" the sugar on, so that it last and to stop wasting it. Grandkids sure change your perspective. I let Rudy decorate with abandon and just laugh about it. Then Sunday I met with DS2 and his GF for a socially distanced visit, and decided how we navigate Christmas. We decided over hangouts after I drop off their box of gifts. Then we will also add my mom and DS1 to the hangout so we can all spend some time together. Rudy and Abby have had falling out. He was too rough for her and she is staying as far away as she can get from him. Although she didn't try to bite him. I'm starting to wonder if the she really is the biter that the previous family made her out to be. She only nips at me if I've been petting her to the point where it feels too good, or get her too excited playing. Jerky is on the list of things for today, and no bake cookies for DS2. His favorite and for him it wouldn't be Christmas without them lol. I love all the cards ladies and it's so nice to have that happy mail to look forward to. Happy Hanukkah msliz !

I feel like I've been missing out on the conversation here, missed several days. BFs (We're practically married anyway) mom passed away on Thursday, so life as we know it has pretty much stopped. It was sort of expected, but not really all at the same time. She was a long time sufferer of COPD, on oxygen. She was truly his best friend in life, so he is absolutely devastated. All he has left is his brother, who doesn't always cooperate. Unfortunately, BF was the one to find her that morning, so now he has memories and nightmares of this added on. :sigh: It's so hard to watch him go through this. But, in the small breaks of sanity I've been able to manage, I have Christmas cards (I found some kits that were DONE, and only have to send out about 20). I also have been coloring, and trying to create in my art journal more. The day before she passed, I took inspiration from kellyr21 and drew out a bunch of little gnomes and had so much fun with them. I don't have a picture (I'm Peaing at work, shhhh) or I'd show them. I'll try to catch up with the conversations soon!

joyfulnana - it'll work out how it's meant to -whether I end up with a craft room or just a craft corner. I think it might hinge on whether I can find another spot for the bookcases...I'm eyeing the upstairs corridor but am not sure whether it is wide enough... how fun with the cookie baking - mine always used way too much sugar also but they loved it. kelly8875 - I'm so very sorry for your loss. Prayers and ((((Hugs)))). And extra prayers for your BF - finding her must have been so hard. My sister found our mum - she's a paramedic so at least had experience but still so hard.

(((((HUGS))))) to you, kelly8875 and your dbf on your loss. Hopefully your bf's happier memories will continue to sustain him after finding his mom like that. Thanks for checking in. I hope that colouring and doing small crafty things will help you take those essential sanity breaks everyone needs when going through something like this. And if it doesn't help, then leave it for awhile. No pressure to create anything unless it brings you peace.

kelly8875, I'm so sorry for your loss. Just wanted to say thank you to all of you for keeping my spirits up when I read your posts. Some days/weeks/months are harder than others, and it's tough trying to be everything to everyone. I'm getting the bare minimum done, and I'm still in one piece, so I guess that'll have to suffice. I'm so looking forward to DD's holiday break. Found out this morning that my sister and her husband have covid and spent the night at the ER. They're home now with their steroids and inhalers, but I'm still shaking a little. It's hitting too close to home.
