Hang in there, gramma. Don't have alot of patience, myself, but what I have, you can share! kitbop, sorry to hear that your hospital is strained with all the Covid cases. I hear that Ontario is shutting down from Christmas Eve until January 4th, but I know that the people in your line of work will be heading in to work everyday, taking on the brunt of the front lines. Please stay safe! Glad you got your Christmas sweater shot, kellyr21, even though you were sweltering in the heat. Would love to see it. Our tree has been up for weeks. That is the benefit of an artificial tree: it could stay up all YEAR if the mood struck me. My sister in law, who is really missing their usual December family get together, had decided to boycot Christmas. But when her kids talked her into setting up her tree, she set it up and then refused to decorate it. When they insisted, she ended up decorated it with artifical flowers. She says that makes her happy, and it can stay there until JUNE. I was going to bake cookies this morning, but forgot to pull the butter out of the freezer. Will bake tomorrow instead. Have a couple more pic's from Christmas Past to scrap. Might use this week's Sketchy Saturday sketch to get them on a page. Sending love and (((((hugs))))) to all of you Pokeys...

(((Hugs))) and prayers gramma - hang in there. Congratulations knutschen - well done! fun pages justjac and grammadeeI baked yesterday - made fudge, loads of little mince pies, peppermint cracker candy (not a make again - it's too sweet), and dipped PB covered Ritz crackers in chocolate (oer DH's request - those were fiddley). Today - school with DD14 and puttering around my corner of the family room decluttering again. I only want to move what I want to have in the new house so out stuff is going. Closing is still on for tomorrow morning and we'll be going freezer shopping afterwards and then taking the girls to see the house (they've only seen the outside and photos). Then we have to schedule the plumber, electrician, and cleaners and possibly arrange for the carpet in the bonus (DH's Lego) room and dining room to be replaced with not carpet - who puts off white carpet in a dining room? One of our kitties is feeling clingy - she keep perching either on my shoulder or between my shoulders and the chair -it's not super comfy.

sigh...the bank messed up on paperwork and the closing got pushed off until Monday. The sellers weren't happy (understandably since our original closing date was the 16th) but..they agreed to the extension and I really really hope we actually close on Monday.
Cleaned out the main game cabinet and the girls and I found a bunch of games to donate - now to see how many are still in the donation pile after DH goes through it. He has a hard time letting things go.
Hoping if DH gets home early enough we can bring the tree in from the shed and at least get it set up.

I have been going nuts. My computer started flashing at me on Friday and then just went dark. I tried everything I could think of and called our DSIL on Sat. He is so swamped at work. He is in internet security and he is trying to keep all the schools and business platforms free from hacking, etc. He worked Sat and Sun but got back to me yesterday. He usually can remote in to fix little problems on my computer, but without it working he had to come over. He traded out the monitor and cables and got the flashing message finally so he knew what he was dealing with. Then everything began working again. He thinks it's a video card or the monitor going out, but told me to continue to use it and let him know of problems. Computers!!! I hated being "disconnected" from my friends! He is also in the middle of his daughter's wedding plans after Christmas. He is so kind to help me. grammadee, I loved your son's song. I especially loved his comments made about the song and our responsibilities. Did he get his beautiful voice from you? gramma, how I wish I could give you a hug. My heart hurts for you. Dad always said that dementia is a MEAN disease, mean to the sufferer and mean to all those who love them. Winter and evenings seem to be the worst. I wish I could box up a bunch of patience and send it off. No one understands how difficult it is until you are immersed in it. I am praying for you both. You are so sweet, hang in there, dear friend. We need another Hangouts! Linda, so sorry about the delay in your closing. How is your DS's home buying going? You are so ambitious. I feel like a slacker when I see all that you have baked and made! justjac, I love your page about the meet-up with Dee. Won't it be nice when we can actually hug our good friends! kellyr21, I always enjoy your photos that you post of the town tree and decorations. So funny about the sweater. You are so much fun! I need to fix dinner. I will be back later tonight to comment more. I hope my computer continues to behave.

Oh no, Linda! Glad the sellers were able and willing to give you the extra time. Hopefully it will be all smooth sailing from now on. I hope your ds's purchase will go smoothly, too. I like to sing, nylene, but have never worked at music as hard as our ds has. There are alot of singers and musicians in our family, so he definitely came by his talents honestly. I love his more acoustic numbers like this one. But he and his band prefer a much more heavy rock sound than this.

I was going to bake cookies this morning, but forgot to pull the butter out of the freezer. dipped PB covered Ritz crackers in chocolate (oer DH's request - those were fiddley). grammadee - when butter is frozen I make brownies because these start with melting the butter in a pot on the stove! I'm just about to pull a pan out of the overn, and for Christmas we top them with mint chocolate. This is pan #2 of the year. Linda - dipping is SO fiddley, the kids don't truly appreciate the peanut butter balls that they adore, they just don't understand how much work. Yummy yes, but I think justjac 's approach of barks is better - same ingredients, different format. Sorry your closing got pushed back. It will be so nice for you to have this all over. Like 2020 gramma - I'm so sorry you are having to exercise patience like this. It's really really hard and the sufferer doesn't have a clue what they are doing either, so you can't even get relief by getting mad. nylene, glad your SIL got you up and running! I try to help my Mom when she runs into trouble, only she actually argues with me sometimes ie "Mom, your video card is far too old to run that program". response - "Well, maybe I should call the internet provider and have them come and fix it then?" And she's 2000miles away, so we're fixing things on the phone with me blind to her screen. Good to have someone local. I just finished my last day of work for 5 days, so I have a day to grocery shop and wrap thank goodness. I haven't made it into my scrappy space for a few days other than to paste my card fronts onto cards! I miss it!!! That's a good sign

kitbop - glad you're off for Christmas eve - DH is also and had early release today at 3pm instead of 5pm I tried a bark version of the PB balls this year and the proportions were off - I'll make PB balls next year despite the fiddleness More baking today - made sugar cookie dough and will cut and decorate with DD14 later. Made chocolate cookies with Andes peppermint chips - YUM! and made toffee bit triangles with DD20. Brought the tree and decorations inside - we'll put it up tomorrow. I still have a little more wrapping - might work on it tonight or we might follow tradition and do it late on Christmas eve like every other year, lol. Tomorrow I'm cleaning house and dropping off recycling and hopefully GW donations

Also, here is an encouraging video about JOY, intentional joy! I know many of us are sad because we can't visit our loved ones for Christmas. I was feeling it and wanted to encourage others to embrace both the grief and the joy. I hope this inspires you and feel free to share it with a friend or family member. Joy doesn't solve all of our pain but it sure helps!!! Link Here

knutschen , congrats on passing your tests. It sounds like they are really moving things along in your hospital. Pleas be careful and stay safe. I hope you and DH have a nice Christmas. gramma , how is your granddaughter doing? I hope that you can be a good influence on her and that she in turn can help you out with home tasks and visiting with your DH. kellyr21 , I just watched your 2 videos. What a sweet Christmas message. I love those Julie Nutting dolls. I have never bought any, but you are enabling me! msliz , glad to see you checking in. I look forward to Hangouts again. I miss just chatting face to face and that really helps. Besides, we are all chatting about our hobby! grammadee , I am excited to see what your Scrapping package contains! We need an unboxing video, or at least photos of everything as you open it tomorrow. Linda and kitbop , reading all the baking and making you are doing makes me want to go make goodies. But no one is coming here and DH and I don't need the calories. I'm afraid I would be the one eating them ALL. Em has kept me in the loop about the wedding plans. I have seen photos of Em in her dress and Ashley in her wedding dress. Alyssa's dress is being altered and then I will get a photo of her too. They went down to move Ash's things into the little home where they will live, and they sent me photos of that too. It's nice that I don't have to feel left out. I just can't believe my little Ashley is getting married. Seems like just a few years ago that I spent every day with those 2 little red-headed toddlers when Em was so sick. Alyssa will really miss her sister. They are very close. joyfulnana, I can't wait to see photos of Rudy with his new dog. What a wonderful Christmas he will have. I love that! I am sending Merry Christmas Wishesto each of you. I hope you have a great Christmas Eve too. We will be reading a lot of Christmas stories and the Bible story of Christ's birth. I love you all and appreciate your friendship so much.

Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating! grammadee - what an awesome gift! My sister sent us all t-shirts that say "It's [lastname] thing (you won't understand)". D20 knitted me dishscrubbies - a labour of love, she hated working with that yarn. DD14 bought me chocolate. DH put a toblerone bar in my stocking and gave me some Christmas kitchen towel/potholder sets - apparently when he packed up his mum's apartment 4 years ago after she spent 30 days in ICU and then went to hospice - he found them labelled with my name - probably what she had planned to give me for Christmas 2015 before she went in the hospital. He put them in a safe place and recently found them again. We video chatted with DS this morning as he opened the gifts we sent and again this evening. His neighbour is retired Navy so he spent most of the day with him including dinner.

Have fun with your new toys grammadee! That stamp is cute lol. I love the page justjac did of your gift exchange. It feels so good to have this holiday behind us! DS2 and his GF came Wednesday and stayed the night. We exchanged gifts together and just hung out watching movies and more of the same yesterday. Then last night was gifts with Rudy. Today was nice and easy, lazy day. We had an extended family zoom call. That was great. I saw a niece and nephew I hadn't seen in years. I think that may become an annual thing. I hope so, it was fun. I had to go meet Rudy's new puppy. The hound had to go back to the shelter after snapping and baring his teeth. But DS searched high and low and found an 8 week female Staffordshire for sale. She's adorable and so tiny right now. Rudy named her Angel and he's been carrying her around pretty well non-stop all day lol. I've been putting a couple page kits together for tomorrow. My mom and niece and I are going to crop on hangouts tomorrow. I hope you all had a wonderful day! Love and hugs to you all!

Merry Christmas Pokeys! Dean and I were on our own this Christmas. We had a Google Meet with my mom and sister (the brother couldn’t make it work). Then we had a Zoom gift opening with my in-laws. We went over to their place to try a social distancing family pic, but the light wasn’t good so we are going to try again tomorrow. My MiL made us take out trays of Christmas dinner and we made them trifle and buns (which were a bit heavy). We watched Klaus on Netflix. It is a very good family friendly cartoon.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!! grammadee Enjoy your new scrap goodies! They look like fun! The hospital never stopped for the holiday. We were at capacity plus they were talking about flexing our unit up to 42 patients before I left yesterday. I had Christmas night off but my family wasn't getting together. I was planning to wake up and cook dinner and DH and I do something. I didn't wake up till 11pm. I ended up sleeping about 15 hours! I have decided to refinance my house and need to prepare for an appraisal in 2-3 weeks. I also have a few more documents to upload and then they can start working on my application on Monday. I hope to work on getting my house in better order on my days off. I hope since I have had some sleep that I can get a few things checked off my list.

Happy Boxing Day pokeys! I love boxing day - leftovers and relax. It *is* good to put the holiday behind us this year, yes joyfulnana! It's combination of wanting to get on with getting this pandemic OVER, and of typical relief that we have finished our Christmas job for yet another year. Did anyone see the social media post by Mohammad Hussein who is celebrating his first ever Christmas with roommates? He made some EXCELLENT funny observations, such as that Christmas is actually a part-time job that lasts for over a month... I am typing with fingernails which is HARD. DD got a poly-gel nail lamp/set from her brothers and did mine last night. I'll share after they are painted. The are hard as a rock and very much in the way... so forgive typos! grammadee, I think I'm too type-A and protective of my scrappy $$ to allow someone else to pick out product for me! I hope you enjoy your box! justjac - I watched Klaus while wrapping and thought it was well done and very enjoyable. Better than a lot of others. knutschen - I hope you get some days off soon. There is just no way to feel relaxed, or find extra energy for cooking, when you are working.

Good Morning! I believe today will be taking down the tree day. I’m anxious to get things back to normal so I can get back to scrapping! I was going to ask when you were going to put up the January sign ups grammadee and you just did! 😁 justjac love the Christmas pic! Can’t wait to see your nails kitbop. I can do ok with longer nails for a *bit* but they drive me nuts fairly quickly. Wow knutschen that sucks about your hospital. You must have definitely needed the rest. I think the only time I’ve slept that long is when I’m sick. I got your card! I’m adding picture of Rudy with Angel. He still will not put her down lol. I don’t think she minds 😉.

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a good day full of family calls, good food, presents and even went for an evening drive to see the pretty Christmas decorations in town. Today, just back to normal and hope to rest today. justjac- How beautiful you looked with your dh! You too are a lovely couple. I love your tree and your Christmas day activities sounded fun. joyfulnana- What a cute puppy! If I had that sweet dog I would be holding it all day, too. LOL! grammadee- Oh what a super cool gift you got! I know you are gonna have fun with that box of goodies! knutschen- SO glad you got some rest. You really needed the rest!

Love seeing your pic knutschen - ((((Hugs))) you must really have needed that sleep. Good luck with the refinancing Hi to everyone else. I actually scrapped today - just journalling pages for my monthly pandemic page - I got caught up by doing Sept, Oct, and Nov. Super simple pages and I went back to the Pokey threads for those months to help refresh my memory for some of the journalling. Tomorrow is our closing - bank for cashiers cheque, then a quick walk-thru of the house, and then the actual closing. I'm super excited! I hope there are no other hiccups.

Linda , I can't believe you are scrapping the day before closing! I hope things go through perfectly for you now. It sounds like your family knows your interests (and tastes) and how sweet that you got the tea towels meant for 2015. Glad you got to "see" DS too. grammadee , I hope you enjoy your new scrappy supplies. I don't know what transfer ink is, but I'm sure you will have fun with it. That moose stamp with curling stone (is that what it's called?)is really cute. I'm sure you will find a use for those. knutschen , your card arrived on Christmas Eve. So cute! Thank you. I am sorry you are getting so busy at work. I look forward to the day that Covid doesn't overshadow everything, everywhere. I can understand sleeping 15 hours. You probably really needed that. Best wishes as you refinance. I hope things go smoothly for you. joyfulnana , I think that Rudy and Angel were meant for each other. What a cute duo they make. I'm glad this little puppy seems to really love him and won't be a biter/snarler. I look forward to "granddog and grandson pages" from you. I can't even think of taking my tree down. I wish I could leave it all year. My living room looks so festive. justjac , what a cute photo of the two of you. I'm sorry you were alone, but hopefully next year we can all share with other family members. I haven't tried Google Meet, but apparently it is replacing Hangouts. I will have to investigate before we do video chats in Jan. kellyr21 , yes, Ashley is one of the little redheads I have been posting together for many years. She is young, just turned 19, but is so mature for her age and always has been. She met Tim and they just clicked. He's 21 and they are both in college, but also have jobs. They will be managing an apartment complex owned by his parents for free rent of a small house. They are so perfect together. Both families are thrilled. His family lives in the county, so when they come home for holidays, etc, they can see both sides of the family. kitbop , I can't wait to see your nails. I'm afraid I would be picking at them all the time. Right now mine look awful! Too much hand washing and cold weather! How nice to have your own nail artist at home. I like all the ideas you and grammadee and others have added to the Teams. It will take me a while to get it all figured out, but as long as I can do Easy Peasy, I am in. gramma , how was your Christmas? Thinking of you and sending you hugs. msliz , nice to see your cute avatar popping up. It looks just like you. Young and beautiful! We lost our "granddog" over the holiday. He was a King Charles Spaniel and such a sweet dog. The family was just devastated, but a retired vet from the neighborhood came over and let them know that he only had a few days and he was suffering. It was a hard decision, but they knew they had to put him down. He was 12 years old, which is beyond his lifespan. Christmas was quiet here. We video chatted with the grands and had fun seeing all their new presents. Just not as nice as having them all being noisy and busy and close enough for hugs!
